Poke means "sliced" in Hawaiian. It describes the diced, marinated raw fish dish. The Capital…read moreRegion is fortunate to have a number of good poke restaurants. This one also has an assortment of ramen, noodle bowls and bubble teas. "Hawaii" is a chain with a remarkably large menu. I came in for poke but wound up with a rice noodle bowl, instead. Orders are placed at the counter just like a fast food joint but this isn't really fast food. Most of the food is actually made to order. The staff is really patient. They'll help you navigate the massive menu with many options. If you're dining in they'll bring your orders to your table. I picked thin rice noodles with spicy miso broth and pork belly. I also asked for most of the free toppings and the free hard boiled egg. The pork belly turned out to be a fatty cut. That was on me. Next time, I'll order BBQ pork l,instead. As for that "spicy" broth, they mean it. Next time, I'll also ask for a little less heat in my broth. Still, was a delicious meal which was prepared just for me. I added a large Lycee slushie to my order. It was pretty good but too large. I have to go medium next time. I couldn't finish the meal. I took it home and ate it again for breakfast the next day (I have a cast iron stomach and can eat spicy breakfasts). If this business is part of a chain where are the other restaurants? The manager said most are on Long Island. The Castleton restaurant is the only one in the Capital Region and the restaurant is largely a family-run operation. It's clean, bright, very modern and cute. There's cute wall art. Some illuminated. Others are wallpaper depicting food, pandas and the Chinese god of wealth. This is one of those places with a menu so large that you can keep coming back and not have the same meal twice.

They did seem to do quite a bit of takeout. It's located in a little strip mall right off route 8 in Torrington so it's super easy to access! The food was so good! We split crab rangoons and scallion pancakes and they were so fresh and didn't have that greasy/oily after taste that a lot of places have. Our waitress was so kind and explained one of the dishes to me and actually showed me how to use chopsticks as I wasn't quite grasping it from reading the instructions on the wrapper. They also were super nice chopsticks and not the cheap wooden ones that sometimes splinter! For our entrees my boyfriend had three different sushi rolls, the Godzilla the, the mermaid and the volcano and said they were all really good! They also were huge so we ended up taking half of it home. I had the Chicken Yaki Udon which is basically stir fried udon noodles with chicken and veggies in a sweet soy type sauce. Our waitress asked if we wanted ice cream at the end and it was the perfect way to end the meal! Everyone was so kind and the food was so good that we will definitely be back!!

Was skeptical on semi-off-the-beaten path location and look of the adjoining businesses in the strip mall - but now love the place more due to it. Don't let the outside fool you. Beautiful and clean inside. Outstanding service and quality. Fair prices for the portion, yet they are not taking advantage of the customer. Really good. Really positive experience. Will absolutely be back.

I like the large Mexican/Asian fusion menu. There is something on it for everybody. I started with the Malay curry wontons. Dumplings in a red curry sauce. They were delicious! They were tender, the generous filling was delicious, and they had just a little bit of a gentle heat to them. I could feel my forehead sweat just a little bit. I liked them. For my main course, , I had the Asian rice bowl with teriyaki beef. I chose the seasoned rice, and it came topped with cabbage, carrot, cucumber, bean sprouts, broccoli, bokchoy, cilantro, and egg. I had mine with Teriyaki Sauce. The bowl was huge, and it was delicious. The meat was tender and had a good flavor, the veggies, and the rice were done just right, and I like the addition of the egg. Everything played very well together. It was rich, but not overly so. There was a lot of food, and I took some of the dumplings and the rice bowl home for later. I had a soda, but they also offer Boba tea, beer, even soju, among other things.. The price was very reasonable, especially for the fact that I got two meals out of it. I will be back. Thank you.
