I wish I had just waited until Tuesday to visit my favorite place. I ordered takeout: Pad Thai (medium heat) and Tom Yum (the hottest they offer). Where do I start? My Tom Yum looked and tasted like dishwater with a thick layer of grease, and the Pad Thai was incredibly bland. Didn't feel like cooking so I wanted to try a new Thai place. Got the food delivered so I was already expecting it to not be 100% since I was eating at the restaurant. Here's what I ordered: -Vegetable Egg Rolls: did the job. Pretty solid egg rolls. Love that they didn't give the typical duck sauce. Not too much flavor but just the right amount. And I loved that 4 came in an order. -Pad See U: I added chicken for my protein. very flavorful. I love this dish at other restaurants so to see them add a lot of flavor was great. Wish there were more vegetables in this dish. -Sticky Rice Mango: eh. I've had better. I did not like how the mango was wrapped in the aluminum foil. I also didn't like that in the container was just plain coconut milk. Normally I've had it where the sauce was a mixture of coconut milk, sugar and some other ingredients to make it creamy and smooth. I could've made this myself. Overall satisfying meal. Took one star off because there was very little Pad See U in the box. The amount of food did not match the price I paid. In 30 plus years of travel and goodness knows how many Thai meals never had a half full container as a main course. Excellent Thai cuisine - curry chicken with veggies is scrumptious. Masamana chicken really hits the spot especially with veggies and rice. Service is prompt with a smile. The chef came to our table to help us order - how special! The restaurant is small and quaint. Tables have lovely table clothes and a glass sheet over it. Food was serviceable but very strange. Money bags were basically Indian samosas. Salad roll was in one giant roll (over a foot long) and was, no exaggeration, 80% red lettuce (?!). Pad Thai was mostly noodles - very skimpy on the protein/veg. Flavors were pretty bland/shallow. Overall, pretty disappointed after reading so many positive reviews. We got takeout and it was packaged in styrofoam! I thought that stuff had all but disappeared... Maybe I'm spoiled having come from the west coast where you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a top-tier Asian restaurant. The Money Bags are half the size they used to be AND not even warm. Crust was crumbly HARD. My luscious Pad see ew was greasy and very small. Served on a oval appetizer plate. If you have eaten here over the years as we have , you know what I'm talking about. Half the size and it was ruined by all the COOKED cilantro my xed in it. I told the waitress chopped cilantro sprinkled on top with green onions. Uh, no green onions either. Now I like cilantro, however the taste was overwhelming with a big handful with all the stems thrown in. Not even chopped. It was horrid. I just picked the noodles and sausage out of it. Husband's Chef Special was also half the size on the same small app plate. The eggs massacred!! Both our meals were BLAND as could be. I always get medium heat, nothing. Just greasy flavor. He was so mad. The 2 stars are for the nice and slooooow waitress. She didn't know what to do .Said she was only there about a month ???? Okay, whatever. She was upset but didn't do anything about the food. She acted like she was afraid to say anything to the cook. Will never go back here again. Hope we can find the previous owners. This one is a hidden gem. The new location on State Blvd is much improved over the original one (used to be on Coldwater and Cook). The food is very fresh. You don't get the impression their dishes have been sitting in back for to hours waiting on someone to order them or that everything is basically different versions of the same six ingredients. The spring rolls are wonderful - crisp, hot, and super fresh inside. I've had the green curry and the pad Thai, both were excellent. Their mango sticky rice is also definitely a must-get, even if you eat it tomorrow because the meal portions are quite generous. Ordered Chef's Special ($8.99) which was surprisingly good since it looked liked a souped up version of Ramen noodles, lbvs. It was packed with meat, eggs, cabbage, carrots and been sprouts. I got a level one spice which was unnoticeable. And although I don't think the dish was tossed in sauce, it was flavorful. I did carry out today, and it is literally the worst Pad Thai I've ever had in Fort Wayne in 16 years. Maybe the ownership has changed since the last time I ordered here, but the food was bad - like burnt. What flavor there was had been scorched away by being overcooked. My meal didn't look nearly as appetizing as the ones in the pictures that others have posted for Yummy Thai. The julienned carrots and cabbage were a nice touch, but the main course was absolutely disappointing (and I'll note that I didn't see any bean sprouts on my dish, although they could have been unrecognizable from being burnt with the noodles). I'm not even going to finish eating. I have had their Red Curry and Pad Kee Mao before, and liked them both, but that was several years ago (also the last time I had their Pad Thai before today). For that reason, i was surprised by the quality of the food that I was served today. They got the 2 stars because of my past experiences there; on the basis of today's "lunch", I'd give their food 0. The positive is that the inside of the restaurant has been significantly upgraded since my last visit, but I'd prefer the less-fancy look with better food. Maybe the curries are still good; I'll probably give them one more try. Unless you like your Pad Thai to match the color (and taste) of your car tires, perhaps it's best to try some of the other Thai/Burmese places in town. read more

We were greeted by a friendly waitress. After looking though the menu, I ordered the beef pad kee Mao (medium spicy). It definitely hit the spot. I can say it's comparable to mahnin in downtown! Yummy Thai has replaced my long time fav, Pad Thai (closed) on the East State Village Thai scene. I got Pad Thai - thai hot for carry out a few weeks ago and wow its was so flavorful and HOT. Portion size was big and can easily be two meals - unless you're me and can't tell your mind to tell your body to stop eating. My boyfriend and I dined in last night and once again it was phenomenal. I opted for the Chef's special with chicken. It was served with a clear soup - very hot and refreshing with cilantro. Portions were even bigger when dining in! My boyfriend was bummed his Pad Thai did not come with soup like mine did. Prices were fair at $20 for the two of us. Service was a little slow but it appears the woman serving the whole place (about 8-10 tables) was also helping in the kitchen. She was very friendly and did check on us once we tried our dinners. Our second time we got takeout and it was as if it were from another place. It was super disappointing. Third time was a COMPLETE turn around. The restaurant looks a bit nicer. The food was amazing!!! We had to hold ourselves back from overdoing it. The fresh salad rolls are the BEST I have ever had. The herbs and crunch really make them outstanding. I desperately want to support local businesses in this economy, but sadly, I will not be returning to Yummy Thai. It has been my favorite Thai restaurant in town for quite some time, and despite being slow for takeout, was always reasonable and tasted great. Today I ordered my normal- tofu pad Thai, salad rolls, and added a Thai tea. This used to be about 16 bucks (over priced, but those salad rolls are awesome). Today I picked it up and it was $27. For some noodles, a roll, and a tea. The roll wasn't sliced for sharing and now only included 1 peanut sauce vs the previous 2. There are no more lunch specials (meaning the pad Thai was 5 bucks more expensive than it used to be), and despite prices here and on the website, both the roll and the drink went up by a dollar (and what was on the wall in the restaurant). I tried to pay in cash, was told that they only accepted cards, and then was charged over another dollar for a checkout fee. Prices have not risen almost 40%, especially when portions are smaller and quality is going down. Local businesses are definitely struggling in this economy, but 27 bucks for a lunch is steakhouse prices. I hope they return to lunch specials, clear/honest pricing, and either accepting cash or removing check out fees. read more
