This place makes fresh and flavorful food. I grew up in the north east with some great greasy Chinese take out spots. This place compares well but without the grease and fresh ingredients. I like that I can order and pay with Apple Pay on the website and go pick it up. They are always nice and the food has been good. They have nice portion sizes and reasonable prices. They do make friend rice and not that yellow dyed stuff. You could eat there if you wanted they have some tables and a tv with the news on in the corner. We have ordered take out meals from Yummy Wok a few times. Each seems the food seems to get progressively worse. Last night was probably the last time I will order food from there. One of the meals we ordered was House Special Fried Rice. There was nothing special about it, just fried rice with little veggies and just a few small pieces of pork. Definitely not what the menu described. The other meal purchase was Shrimp with mixed vegetables. This was a large meal of vegetables with a couple of pieces of shrimp. Food was typical Chinese. Nothing special. This review is because of the lady at the front, who was extremely rude. Few things - a family of 10 ordered food. When we asked for extra forks and plates to share, she would not give it to us. When we asked for water (tap) she said, "this is not a restaurant, you pay for what you drink." And when it came time to eat, she told us not to combine the tables, but to leave them as they were. So we sat at the four tables. Then she told us to move to leave one table open in case someone else came in. As far as plates and silverware, we went next door to Winn Dixie to buy them and brought them back. The service was friendly and the prices were average but in my opinion the food was just awful. The kung pao chicken was unlike any other I've had anywhere and that's not a compliment. The chicken was just weird. My husband loves lobster sauce and we haven't been able to find it many places here. We noticed it on the menu (with shrimp) and we asked if we could just have a side of the sauce and they said no problem. Of course we got the standard joke "you know there is no lobster in it right?" We answered yes that we knew that it was pork in a brown gravy. My husband loves putting it on his rice. When we got home I took it out of the bag and it was a cloudy colored broth consistency with some veggies. We tried it and it was just horrible. It went right down the sink. Not even the basics were good. Sweet & Sour chicken was these tiny little pieces of popcorn size chicken and the sauce had no flavor. The rangoons were not good either. It's advertised as yellow rice the rice was brown, however, that's not the deal breaker. Only 6 shrimp in that container full of rice. Did they count out the shrimp? In my search for good Chinese in the St. Augustine area, Yummy Wok looked promising. It wasn't to my liking. We ordered two entrees, Kung Pao Chicken, and the House Special Steak. The meat in both dishes was tough and grisly. I had high hopes for the steak dish based on the description. The sauce on the steak dish was good but couldn't overcome the poor meat quality. The Kung Pao was spicy but not overly so, but again the meat was a disappointment. The veggies in both dishes seemed to have been cooked a little too long. They were all mostly mushy. We ordered takeout. The process was smooth and friendly. The food was ready quickly. We only tried these two dishes and didn't try the soups or rolls, so there could be hope, but I reckon I'll try a few other places before making a return trip to Yummy. read more

Love this place. They are always friendly and quick to making our food. The place is clean too. The prices seem to be a bit higher (unless you get a lunch/dinner special) but they give you nice portions. I've had many different general Taos chickens but this place has the best-by far. My first time at yummy wok was a surprising success. I thought I would give them a try because they were nearby and it turned out to be to my benefit. I ordered ma po tofu and vegetables with extra broccoli. I enjoyed it. The tofu was soft and creamy. The sauce was spicy with little red peppers but not too hot. The broccoli flowers were bright green and crispy. The portion was large enough to share with my wife and still have some left for lunch. read more

JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE! The hubby and I were actually on the way out for Mediterranean when we decide to check out this restaurant. However that restaurant had no vegetables on the menu so we just walked a few doors to the right. It was later in the afternoon and all was very quiet. The place was clean and small with a simple décor . We reviewed the menu and placed an order to go. My husband ordered the General's chicken and I ordered the Moo Goo Gai Pan, (chicken and veggies, white sauce). My order came with white rice but I chose not to eat it. When we returned to our hotel about 20 minutes later the food was still warm and everything had been nicely packaged in plastic containers. I enjoyed my dish of perfectly seasoned fresh veggies that and chicken. The veggies had a nice crisp and great color. However, my husband did not enjoy his dish because it wasn't very spicy and I think the breading was a bit heavy. When it comes to Asian dishes, I always just keep it very simple and I am rarely disappointed. I avoid breaded and fried dishes and anything in a colored sauce. ***The food was made to order so we had to wait a bit but this is to be expected when you want it fresh. ***Portion sizes were very generous. I used to love Yummy Wok, but sadly I do not think I'll be eating here anymore. On 10/12/2018 I ordered and ate here, and got a Honey Chicken Combo, and a little over 24 hours later I started experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. As of today (October 20th, 2018) I am still experiencing food poisoning symptoms, and trying to decide to go to the doctor/hospital now. I've been at a crossroads on if I should submit a complaint to the government, but they put all the information out to the public, and I am not too interested in putting all that information out there. I know a Yelp Review is probably not the best option either, but it's the only thing that I think will suffice, and will not ask for a ton of my personal information just to submit this review. Anyways, back to the review: So the food was delicious, to be honest. It was hot, fresh, tasted great, no issues with my order. I enjoyed every bite, and saved it for later, as I was intending on eating more the next day.. but that's when the food poisoning hit me. I was looking forward to getting off of work, taking a shower, heating up my food, having a quick meal, and then go to bed. Instead, I got a huge cramp in my stomach, so I decided to hit the bathroom ASAP. Sat on the toilet, not much of a "Loaf to pinch off" so to speak, so I continued to hop into the shower. This is when my Battleship was really sunk. As soon as I hopped in the shower, I immediately had to hop out, and hop on the toilet again. I was forced to "Liquidate" my "assets". So I hop in the shower again... Middle of the shower, more assets needed more liquidating, immediately. Back on the toilet. Back into the shower. After finishing my shower and hopping out, yep, you guessed it, apparently I had more assets I needed to liquidate immediately. After hopping back into the shower for one final cleanse, I got out of the bathroom, and experienced intense dizziness. I stumbled to my kitchen, got some water, and then just sat on my couch, as I couldn't do much else. 8 Days later, I am still "liquidating assets". My fiance is also suffering, I believe her symptoms started 1 day later, and ended yesterday. We ordered the same meal (Honey Chicken Combo) only difference was that my rice was with no onions. I love Yummy Wok, I love their staff, I love their food, but I hate getting this sick. I did not eat anything else that day, so my only conclusion to draw here is that this food was what did me in. In previous orders, I've found hairs in my food before, and weird pieces of meat that did not look like beef or chicken or anything that we ordered in the meal. I'm not too picky, and hair doesn't disgust me or anything, so I'll honestly keep eating the meal, but it doesn't surprise me that I got food poisoning from the food. In all honestly, I still may eat here again in the future, and will just hope for the best, but I will be trying other Chinese-American takeout locations nearby, and switch if they prove to be better. All in all, 2 Stars, 1 for friendly staff, 1 for good-tasting food, but I am just scared to eat here now. read more

What a disappointment. It took almost 2 hours for them to finally deliver the food. I called about an hour and a half in and asked where my food was and they said the driver left 10 mins ago. About 20 mins later I called and they said that the driver is lost he will be there soon. He finally got here and the food was cold and ended up being the wrong order. When I called for the 4th time to complain about the food they said that I was wasting their time and that since the food was delivered we were going to have to pay for it. Horrible experience. I moved to St Augustine about 6 months ago from Atlanta and I have been looking for a good Chinese place and tried about 4 maybe 5 different ones before I found this one and it's been my go-to ever since I absolutely love their food it's always fresh. The flavors are fantastic and they don't skimp on the meat or shrimp. So far I've tried chicken Hunan shrimp Hunan the Mongolian beef and the beef and broccoli the fried rice and their vegetable soup and everything has been delicious so far.
