Yummy's was such a serendipitous find when my family and I were looking for a light lunch while in the area. We had two special combos which featured a gyro with a couple of different sides (#1--hummus with dolmas and #7--baba ghanoush and fried zucchini, I believe?) as well as a bowl of lentil soup. Everything was great and well-portioned, but we did think both the hummus and baba ghanoush were a tad too salty for our palate. My mom especially enjoyed the lentil soup, and we enjoyed our gyros! We added on a walnut baklava for the road, which was devoured very quickly (it was delicious and just the right level of sweetness). A very nice proprietor is what makes this place rock. He is the real deal, from Greece, and preparing the best Lamb Gyros sandwiches on Pita Bread and Sweet, flaky Baclava for desert. Gyros, gyros, gyros!! So I believe this place is a staple in the Denton area, def been around about 10 years. Very cute, quaint little place!! Just happened to be driving by and decided I needed a gyro. I always like to research through Yelp before I order because I'm so indecisive and would end up getting 6 things. Guess that's not a bad thing, haha! Just a tip, the online menu has other options from the in-store menu which they accommodate!! My husband ordered the gyro with hummus and fried cauliflower and I ordered the gyro with the babaganoush and fried zucchini with extra pit and tzatziki. The gyros were perfect and had so much meat and sauce!! We were pleased. The cauliflower was delicious and hummus was creamy and you could tell it was freshly made. Babaganoush was very, very smoky and dipped my gyro in it for an extra explosion of yum. Loved the zucchini, I just wish there was more than 2 tiny discs. But other than that, the portions were plentiful and the staff were pleasant and helpful. We have been searching for a good Greek restaurant and believe we finally found it. The food was amazing, was reasonably priced, but the staff took it to another level. My son chose this restaurant for his birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. It looks like a small, family run restaurant and they take pride in everything they do. From the extra care they took to listen that my wife was contemplating the eggplant to showing true heart when we had to come back for my son's Limoncello mascarpone just blew me away. Visiting Denton and we stopped here to grab something to eat. Small restaurant very unassuming from the outside. Very clean restaurant on the inside and was immediately greeted when walked in. Could tell it was family run restaurant. Everyone was very polite and friendly. Our waiter was very nice and patient with us. I first ordered the Greek Coffee. Really good but super strong. The waiter told a story about how the coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup could tell my fortune. Great personal touch and conversation starter. I ordered the Gyro Dinner. I saw several couples coming and going. AKA: I should have know this place would be the bomb, as it was the clear "go to spot" for midweek dinner date night. Inside there is room for maybe 10 groups but this place was busy with patrons eating inside and taking to go. They have 7 really solid combo meals, all of which will run you $12 or less. I ordered combo 7, which was a gyro paired with baba ghanoush, fried zucchini, and pita spears. When I picked up my food, my container felt light, but this food is filling and HEAVY! And Soooooo worth it! My pita was perfect warm, light and fluffy, the gyro meat had perfect flavor/seasoning, and the tzarziki sauce tasted like real Greek yogurt, plus lettuce and tomato to freshen things up, who could ask for more!? Lived for years in Greece and while I appreciate an authentic food business in Denton I will be honest with my impressions. When we have first visited Yummys we were impressed with the homemade Baklava and the intense tzatziki. This business is family owned and the gentleman from Greece is so nice when you visit. He is helpful if you are not familiar with the offerings and tells you about the recipes when he is asked. It is small but people are generally eating at the tables so we grab our food to go. We ordered a maza plate to start and it came out quickly and the fresh warm pita was heavenly, we also tried their falafels and in my husbands words "they're perfect" crisp on the outside and perfectly soft and tasty inside. The meat is not reconstituted something that does not even look like meat. This is a really nice hole in the wall Mediterranean restaurant. It's BYOB so if you want alcohol be prepared. They have a lot of specials plus a pretty extensive menu. Their hummus is good, we usually get it with sirloin which adds a nice flavor to it. Their gyro is really good so I tend to stick with that. Both their gyro dinner and gyro sandwiches are really good. They also have a decent selection of Mediterranean desserts. They take your order at the table and bring it out to you but you have to go to the cash register to pay. read more
