This restaurant is a hidden gem in a small town. Their food is excellent. Coming from NJ they have the best spare ribs and egg rolls that are hard to find. They have homemade soup noodles. The service is excellent and we are so happy to have found them. read more

Yu China Bistro in Manakin-Sabot Idk why I waited so long to try but I'm glad I did. Ordered two of their lunch specials to include soup or egg roll: combo fried rice (rice cooked perfectly and was not oily, good flavor and plenty of meat *chicken, shrimp and beef* 4.4/5 and chicken and shrimp with white rice (the entree was apicy but in a good way, rice nice and fluffy 4.5/5). I opted for the wonton soup which was ok the wontons were a bit soft, broth was good 2.9/5 and the eggs rolls weren't the best but not bad 3/5 all perfect for a girl dinner for Mimi and I! Staff was pleasant and the establishment from what I could see was tidy. Can't wait to stop by again! read more

The food is very consistent, and I normally feel that I get a good value for my money. I never dine-in, only do takeout since one time I was dining in, and a pest control company was spraying in the dining room during the lunch rush, and the employees did not take exception to the exterminator spraying around customers who were eating. Obviously, this is a clear health code violation. Takeout has always been consistent, quick, and accurate. The food is much better than Panda Express. I recommend as a good lunch/dinner takeout option. read more

Located just outside of Short Pump in Manakin-Sabot. We tried this place on a whim. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The food is good. They have good portion sizes. They offer lunch specials daily from 11AM-2:30PM. You can order online or by phone. I only removed one star because the spring roll is fried unlike other Chinese restaurants ive been to, do this was disappointing and it was soggy. Please see photo below. Just past the hustle and bustle of Short Pump, so decided to give this a try and steer from my normal spot to try something new nearby. Yu's didnt disappoint. Dined in also, which is different for Chinese fare, which I typically do take-out. Anyway, this place was clean and way classier looking than it appears from the outside. Definitely won't complain about that. Since it was my first time trying this spot, I decided it's best to try something standard to make a general judgement. Tried the crispy veggie spring rolls for an app and the combo fried rice for my entree. Both were good and met my expectations. Bf had the general tso and that was really good. Lots of food and big crispy pieces of chicken. We both had leftovers to put it in perspective of the portions served. Glad to have found another Chinese restaurant nearby and would recommend Yu's for dine in or carry out. read more

Ordered the Beef and Broccoli and General Tso's Chicken for take out from their lunch menu, unfortunately I did not take a picture, but both dishes were excellent, and as were the two included sides. The place was packed with a large party. As soon as we entered, we realized that they were short staffed and the servers were flustered. We sit down at our reserved table for 8 and quickly get drinks. After the rush died down, things went pretty smoothly. Food: Complimentary fried wonton chips: greasy, but so yummy General Tso Chicken: Holy Moly huge portions. the sauce was so flavorful and delicious. Hunan beef: Comes with a lot of veggies stir fried with the beef. Very good. Lo mein: the noodles were cooked perfectly Triple delight: Comes with 3 different types of meat, in a sauce similar to the hunan beef Chicken with Asparagus: sauce has a little kick to it, but if you love asparagus, this is the dish for you Overall, I really like the food here. Do not over look this place. While on the road back from NC, we stopped in this restaurant. We were in a bit of a hurry to get back home, but we made some time to sit down and eat our dishes. I'd like to try the dumplings at each Chinese restaurant, so we definitely ordered one plateful. I would get the dumplings here again. The wrapper was a good consistency and wasn't over cooked. If I could give zero stars I would do it. When we came in, we were met with a monotone hello and a face of absolute misery. The atmosphere was just as dreary as the people at the front. They didn't even bother responding to anything not even thank you's. Didn't even get a thank you for coming or have a great day or enjoy your food just some irritated looks as if they wanted us in and out within the second. (Even though it's a restaurant...) Which makes sense since they just automatically put our food for takeout and didn't want to ask us if we want to eat in. (We wanted to sit down and eat) That wouldn't bother us so much if the food as worth it. It was in fact NOT. Food was very much terrible. I can't even label it as mediocre. Not only did it taste disgusting and was lukewarm, it had an odd smell of plastic on all of the dishes we ordered. Who knows if they just stuck old food in the microwave at full power and serve it as fresh. Tasted like it for sure though. After Hungry Dragon closed on Lauderdale, I was pretty down in the dumps on finding a good replacement Chinese takeout go-to in Short Pump (I am too far away from Cheng Du). Then, one day, a flyer for Yu's China Bistro shows up in the mailbox. Hmmm. Something new. Worth trying? Later that week, my son said he was tired of Friday Night Pizza Night, and why don't we go for Chinese takeout? So, that's what we did. We ordered some classics: steamed dumplings, egg rolls, wanton soup, crispy fried noodles, chicken and snow peas, beef and broccoli, and rice. The food was delicious and fresh (not greasy!), and the takeout speed was prompt. The website worked too, although there are no dish descriptions, and I wish there were, because I am not fluent in Chinese culinary dishes. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. Our meal came with a large rice, but that was not enough for two entrees. They could have included more. Plus, two fortune cookies for all of that food was a bit stingy. Still, that's my only nit, and I will be ordering again. I want to try more dishes. I would give 4.5 stars for the oversight on rice but will round up for a delicious meal at a good price. read more

Yu's China Bistro has quickly become my favorite Chinese restaurant. I am EXTREMELY picky about Chinese food too. I'm not a fan of the kind you find in the mall, AT ALL! There are about 3-4 Chinese restaurants I can think of, off the top of my head, that people absolutely love and rave about that I just don't like and would never go to these places again. Chen's in Twin Hickory has been my favorite for many years. The fact that it is right near where I live is a plus, for sure. But I tried Yu's China Bistro a few years ago, for the first time when I was at a family get together at my Sister's house in Manakin Sabot. My Dad was in town and he ordered take out for everyone from there on my Sister and Brother- in-law's recommendation. He ordered about 7-8 different dishes with egg rolls, egg drop and wonton soup, fried and white rice and beef lo mein. EVERYTHING was delicious! My husband and I hadn't eaten there since that night because they didn't deliver to our area (until recently). We live in the Twin Hickory/Wyndham area and like I mentioned earlier, Chens was my go to, my favorite and very close. Sooo, a couple of months ago I had a hankering for Chinese food and went to order from Chen's but I forgot they're closed on Tuesdays. I texted my Sister and asked her the name of the Chinese place our Dad ordered from that night a few years back and she told me. I knew from trying before that they didn't deliver to our area but I figured I will gladly do takeout bc I wanted good Chinese food and nothing else was gonna do! But... I looked them up on Door Dash and I was so excited they were on there! Since then, my husband and I have ordered from them about 3-4 times. I usually order Szechuan chicken w/white rice and either won ton or egg drop soup. The first time they delivered me the wrong dish but I didn't know any better. I just thought that was how they made theirs. I couldn't remember the exact dish from a few years ago. I just remembered that it was really good. But the one they brought me was a semi spicy, brown sauce dish with white meat chicken, broccoli, mushrooms (which I picked out-not a fan) and another vegetable or two. It was amazing ! The next time I ordered Szechuan chicken I knew right when I opened it that the last dish was the wrong one bc the veggies were julienned celery and carrots, with white meat chicken cut into strips which is typical of this dish. It was also absolutely delicious! Both soups are incredible and my husband says the egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken and beef and broccoli are really, really good. He's even complained about Chens sweet & sour chicken before. I've had complaints about their Szechuan chicken before. We haven't had one complaint about Yu's China Bistro's food EVER! It has been consistently as amazing the past few months as it was a few years ago. Also, let me say that when my Dad ordered the above mentioned food a few years ago my Sister and I went to pick it up and everyone there was super warm and friendly. They were timely and efficient with getting that much food ready for us for takeout. The restaurant has a nice, welcoming and cozy atmosphere about it as well. I don't get the opportunity to eat the dish I ordered tonight, Ma Po Tofu, unless I prepare it myself. I cannot find it in a restaurant within a 50 mile radius from home. My other half does not care for tofu, so whenever I find it on a menu I try it. Yu's Ma Po Tofu was delicious! Just perfect! I will definitely go again the next time I'm in the area! read more

The food was above average. It was a generous portion. I got three different beef dishes. Everything was well cooked and tasted good. The prices reflect the poor economy created by our nations current administration. It was 15 dollars a plate now rather than the 12 dollars it was a year ago. It is what it is. Let's go Brandon. I'm very disappointed-this place used to be great! Ordered take out, sesame chicken-a spring roll and fried dumplings. Spring roll was good but I knew the order was not right because of the color of the sauce. Looked like sweet and sour sauce with a few sesame seeds sprinkled on it. And the sauce wasn't even enough for the chicken so I basically got chicken nuggets. I tried their fried dumplings everyone had raved about and they were terrible! Everything is sitting in the fridge-will end up tossing $25 worth of food! I also gave a nice 20% tip as I always do even for takeout. Won't be back. read more

I decided to give this Chinese restaurant a try after hearing good things from Co workers about it. The restaurant was very inviting. I went one evening a little over a hour before they closed. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. I tried the general tso chicken. There spin on this classic was a bit different and was served with veggies and rice. Ordered today for pick up and the food has doubled in price since I got take out a couple of months ago. REALLY.. $19 for one order of Chow Mein and 2 egg rolls. Yu's Bistro is American-Chinese food, but on another level. They use high quality ingredients, and you can clearly taste that in everything you order. I've had their chicken lettuce wrap (it is hands down, the best lettuce wrap I have ever tasted), crispy duck, lo mein, general tso's chicken, and several other dishes- absolutely no complaints. The portion sizes are huge, and the prices are more than reasonable. Another thing, I just love the ambiance. The lighting is soft and dim, and the color scheme of the restaurant is classy and romantic. Perhaps a bit too quiet though. Other than that, love love love. read more

So my wife and I were traveling in VA last week over spring break and decided to stop for dinner in a suburb of Richmond. What we discovered by chance is a really fine restaurant if you happen to be in the area. From the outside, Yu's looks like many of the typical chinese restaurants that cater to some of the more american styles of the cuisine. DO NOT let the strip mall exterior fool you, as one will quickly realize that something very different is going on once you step through the doors. First, the restaurant is cozy but does not feel cramped in any way. This is in large part to the beatiful wall hangings, lighting, seating, and artisticly placed windowboxes. I was later surprised to find out that much of this lovely decour was created by one of the co-owners (the wife)--BY HAND! I found that this theme of "no short cuts" extended to the food as well. Before I get into that however, I should preface the rest of my review with the caviat that I am a bit of a chinese cusine food snob. My wife is a nativeof Taiwan so between the trips back there and the food she has created at home, I have found it increasingly difficult to eat at chinese restaurants that cater more toward american versions of the food. After eating at Yu's China Bistro, I may have to re-consider that stance -- it was that GOOD. We started off with the typical fried noodles and dipping sauces. I immediately knew something was different because they tasted fresh and much less oilier that I remember these snacks being. When I inquired about it, I was told that they do not by them wholesale, but make them daily -- again BY HAND. It really did make a difference in the taste... Next were chicken lettuce wraps -- Delicious -- and they reminded me strongly of the ones I have eaten at P.F. Chang's. I also found out through the owner and some of the other reviews on SUPERPAGES that the other co-owner (husband/chef) had been a chef at...P.F. Chang's. =D My wife ordered the Vegetable Soup and both she and our 2 year old son enjoyed it thouroghly. I had a taste or two of the soup and it was more than good. I also should note that NONE of our food had that annoying MSG aftertaste that I hate. When I asked about it, the co-owner (wife) confirmed that they DID NOT use MSG, but instead used the more expensive stock bases (chicken, beef etc...) to help add flavor to the food. Wow... =) In typical american fashion I had the General Tso's Chicken and was pleasantly surprised bu the spiceness of it. The owner told me that it is typical for the restaurants in the Richmond area (but not for my ones here in DFW). My wife had the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and again there was an unmistakable freshness to the dish that impressed her as well. In summary, I think that the folks just north and east of Richmond have a real winner here and I encourage them to check it for dining in out if they are in the area (in addition to the take-out). In addition it was only about 20 minutes from Richmond proper so it might well be worth the drive to check it out. read more
