I am stunned after a very mediocre hot stone massage at this place I was practically pushed to take instead of 90 min. massage I got a certificate for. Not only I had to pay more for it, massage was 30 min. shorter and was done abruptly and without any concern to me. Masseur did not understand what I was asking and walked away twice from the table for a longer period of time without telling me. I was shivering because the temperature was not high enough to leave someone without proper covering. After massage was done, the lady at the front desk asked me if I left a tip!!!! I said I did leave it in the room. She requested to bring it to her and suggested I should give more tip if I was satisfy.... Well I wasn't and I did not wish to be pushed to leave more tip. Went in for a couples massage and loved it! My boyfriend and I use to go to massage envy but I wasn't a huge fan about the membership program and cancelled that. We recently moved to the area and found this place one night and after seeing their amazing prices we had to try them out. Our therapists did an amazing job (even better than massage envy) especially on my feet which was much needed since I wear high heels every day for work. Didn't display any state license. They gave me a full body massage, They clearly didn't know what they were doing, because they caused me a lot of pain during and after the session (massaging over bones, and left me with bruises.). Beware! The massage was awful, and they made me and my boyfriend feel really uncomfortable. I started out with a female "massaging" me, and when I was turned over it was some guy massaging me. I've had a few massages here and I must say I'm in love! An hour full body massage for only $28 is hard to beat. They start by soaking your feet in warm water and massage you head, then they work their way down to your neck, shoulder, arms, and hands. Then they do your feet and legs, and finally they work out the kinks in your back. (one of them, I think her name is Susan, walks on your back!) And once they are done you're left feeling sad because it ended, but then that feeling fades as you leave feeling loose and rejuvenated. read more

I would give this place no stars if that was possible. My girlfriend and I used a Groupon to get 90 minute massages. We were excited because it was like $45 and usually 90 minute massages are upwards of $90-$100. I should have known it was going to be a bad experience right from the start because they didn't have us fill out any paperwork. I don't mean that to sound snooty, but normally a massage place will have you fill out paperwork asking what areas you would like them focus on or avoid, any pre-existing medical conditions, etc. No paperwork, so I should have guessed. On top of that, the rooms are not private. It's a big room divided with curtains; it's not quiet and it was pretty weird. I have never had a massage that was not in a private room before unless it was a couples massage (and still a private room, just with two massage tables). Plus the curtains don't even go wall to wall. On top of that, my "massage therapist" never asked me how hard or soft I wanted my massage. I have dislocated my left shoulder repeatedly, so I can't move it like a normal shoulder and she manhandled me. When I told her it doesn't bend like that, she moved on, only to come back to it later and try again. Last but not least, she straddled me; not super weird if you're getting a massage from your significant other but that is pretty weird for a professional massage place. I have never had that before. I would venture a guess and say that the "massage therapists" have had no real training. Would never recommend this place to anyone. I just went to a chiropractor a few days before to de-compact my spine and neck. I was all tuned up and feeling great, thinking a massage would be a cherry on top. Nope. She messed my lower back up so bad that I went back to the chiro a few days later to undo what she did. If you like getting elbows ran across the edges of your shoulder blades and having your lower back uncomfortably mashed up, go here, you'll love it. The entire time I was just thinking "When does this end?". Side note: There was one good part. They give you a hand/foot massage that was actually decent. I don't really have ticklish feet so it was good for me but I could hear my girlfriend giggling next to me like it was her job. read more

The massages are 7/10 but the prices are amazing! I love this place, but obviously since it's inexpensive the quality is better for relaxation and someone looking for just a good quality massage and not for someone looking for a custom massage therapy experience. I checked the reviews on this place before buying my 90 minute groupon. I was hopeful that this maybe my new spot for getting massages. I read that it was clean, which I agree with I also read that the privacy may not be as private as you think where the rooms were only guarded with a sheet but when I arrived the person checked me and I even upgraded when I checked in and then I went back to the room the lady that helped me didn't really speak any English and kinda directed me to take off my clothes I was uncomfortable laying there with my feet in the bath. I still went ahead with it. She began on rubbing my head while my feet soaked. She put a towel over my eyes while she rubbed my arms and I still could see through the towel. I noticed a man poking his head through the curtain, brushed it off as maybe it was management just checking since he didn't stand there long. Then he came back and just starred with his head in there for several minutes. I really didn't know what to think or if I should stop. Then the man crawled into the room and sat in the corner. I knew then there was something a miss....she had me turn over. I didn't see anyone in there when I turned over but after she got on top of me to do the deep tissue I could hear her whispering to someone. I felt like I was more exposed than I wanted to be and complained to the front desk after I was done. Asking them do people come in the rooms or are their trainees and she said no, I told her someone was in the room several times. She said maybe they was cleaning the floor....what?!?! Why would they clean the floor while I'm in there? I told her no I didn't think so she said oh and blew me off. That's horrible!!!! I also didn't like the fact that laying there trying to relax was offset by listening to the slapping noises coming from other rooms as well as chatter and constant movement. No happy. Are they even licensed!? VERY unprofessional. NOT WORTH THE CHEAP PRICE!!!! This was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Before entering, the front desk did not ask me to fill out any paperwork on where I would like more work done on like professional massage places do. They immediately asked me to upgrade because the one I bought didn't include oil.. So naturally I did. I got taken back to the room and it was not a private room, it was a "room" separated by see through curtains. While getting the massage, the guy kept "massaging" my butt AKA slapping and wiggling it around... It was very uncomfortable. Then he actually got on me and sat ON TOP OF ME!!!! Apparently he wanted to "massage" my shoulders but he was literally sitting on my butt. I honestly feel like I've been sexually assaulted. This is not a professional place. I would by no means consider this a place of relaxation. I came out more stressed because I was uncomfortable the entire time. What can you really expect for $28? I was curious and wanted some relaxation while visiting Palatine and was very disappointed, and my back hurts worse. I think Yu's uses very cheap Chinese labor, perhaps even slave labor. The workers didn't know a thing about massage, much less any english. The chairs were very uncomfortable. I thought my back was going to snap in two after part of the massage was spent lying down with my feet in a bucket of warm water, a very contrived position. With the cheap labor, even a $28 massage nets Yu's big money. Yes, a professional massage costs alot more, but it is much healthier and no people are being exploited. read more

I am a fan of Yu's. Don't let the storefront fool you, the place is huge inside and very nicely appointed. The ambiance is wonderful. Very calming, very relaxing. The price for one hour can't be beat. $29 is an absolute bargain. This was just what I needed. Went there today for the first time. I'll definitely be going back soon. My masseuse was Yen, a very nice young lady. I'd recommend making an appointment if you go on a weekend. Hours are 10am to 9pm (7 days a week, I believe), so there's plenty of time all day long to get a relaxing massage. Thank you Yu! read more

WelI, I hope the owners of this location read the reviews and learn from them. I have gone to Yu's three times only because it is convenient and reasonable. You get what you pay for most definitely applies here. Very basic massage, one level of pressure and no communication with the therapist because they don't understand a word of English. This wasn't a concern other than the fact they were obviously commenting about me when I was checking out. I have noticed every time I have been to Yu's, they expect a larger tip. The rates are inexpensive but they should be because it is a basic massage, no real privacy or interaction with your therapist, and a non-private environment. I have heard conversations and snoring from the other side of the curtain which is used to separate each massage area. This may be my last time and it all boils down to their expectation of what they should be tipped. The prices are inexpensive in comparison to actual SPA massages, but so is the service provided. I always tip 20% which is a generous tip by American standards. I have experienced them asking for more of a tip when I checked out, which I thought was rude as well as unwarranted. My last visit I experienced laughter when I asked the manager to break a $20 bill to use toward the tip. I tipped 20% and apparently they were joking amongst themselves expecting me to tip more. Yu's is what it is, a basic inexpensive fill in to a real therapeutic massage by a professional therapist. They should learn that a 20% tip is generous by any standard. read more

I LOVE this place! I am a runner and I'm extremely ticklish. My friend had gone to Yu's Spa when it first opened up in February and thought it was wonderful. When I complained about my feet hurting after running one evening she suggested I give it a try. It was a splendid experience! From the moment I called and made an appointment I was greeted kindly and the staff could not be more professional and efficient. I was worried about being ticklish but the massage therapist was firm and it was not an issue at all. I made my appointment for Thursday evening with my husband. We had a female and male masseuse and they were stupendous! They were very strong which was great for my husband and me. The following week I took my mother and I asked them to use less pressure for her. I was worried that it would be too strong for her but it was perfect. It was a great birthday gift for her. I highly recommend Yu's Spa. They have gift cards you can purchase and receive a free one after 10. The price is incredible, $28.00 for one hour foot massage which includes everything! They start with your head, neck, shoulders, arms, feet and back. It is an extraordinary experience and it is perfect for people of any age. They are more than happy to accommodate any special circumstance like injuries and even pregnancy. The facility is clean and serene. It is honestly the best massage I have ever had! read more

This is by far the worse massage experience ever, if you even call it a "massage"! My husband and I were in the area and decided to try this place out. As first time customers we did not know what to expect. We showed up for our scheduled appointment, and after being escorted inside we found out that by default you are booked with male masseuse, unless you request for a female in advance when booking the appointment. We had to reschedule the massage for another day in order to get 2 female masseuses. Upon returning, we still ended up getting one male and one female masseuse. Being a petite person, regardless of asking for a female masseuse I am somewhat relieved that I had a male masseuse perform my massage as I am sure this experience would have been a lot more painful (as was the case with my husband). No one, except for the front desk lady, speaks English in this place. The beds are separated by curtains and it is not even close to being a relaxing environment. You can barely hear the music, with the receptionist's voice being heard all the way in the back of the room. This is supposed to be a fully clothed massage, however I somehow ended up being in a bra and underwear by the end of the massage as the male masseuse kept trying to stretch my shirt in order to give me a neck massage and being unable to massage my lower legs because of the jeans that I was wearing. The room is a bit chili and they do not provide you with enough covers either. When I asked for a robe or a blanket the masseuses did not know what I was asking for. The massage was a complete joke and torture from the beginning. It is even worse than a deep tissue massage. The masseuse does not respond to your body cues or the aching sounds you make during the massage. When telling them that it hurts and to apply less pressure on your body they talk to their colleague in their native language and giggle among themselves. Not to mention that the female masseuse set on my husband's behind in order to give him a back massage. Finally, upon confronting the front desk lady regarding our unpleasant massage she said: "You done?, Ok bye". Overall, the worse experience you can ever get....one week later and my back is still hurting. This service and "massage" is not worth the price!! I will never return to this place.. read more

To start off our experience, we came on a day we scheduled an appointment for a couples massage. We were instantly upsold on our package which was fine but we were explained more on how much to pay then what to do after they showed us to a room and walked out. So we paid, they showed us to a room and walked away not explaining anything. There was not clear english when things were finally explained. The massage was great and seemed professional until towards the end when i could tell the timer was getting close to its end. My massage ended with a lot of slapping on my back to a beat. The guy was literally drumming on my back and considering my boyfriend was there, he had a hard time not laughing because we felt like parts of the massage were drumming practice instead of a swedish massage. It wasnt a terrible experience but it was a little disorganized and not to mention if you have sensitive skin beware because both my boyfriend and i's entire back and legs broke out from the oil they used. The swedish massage was not really a swedish massage. If you want a great basic massage for a great price this is the place for you! read more

A coworker had given me a gift certificate from here for 1 hour foot massage including back & shoulders for $29.00. It was my first time going to a spa. The place is really nice, looks small but is a good amount of space once going in the back. The lighting & music was very soothing. The lady that came to me, massage me was very good, she was tall & nice but her English wasn't very good. She was very gentle, & made my muscles feel great. She soaked my feet in warm water & covered my body with a blanket/towel. Everything was very relaxing. For the price of $29.00 it was great. Now if you don't like gentle massaging you should ask for the man to massage you. My sister got him & hated her experience. She left the place feeling worst then she did walking in. It was like he was beating her not massaging her.. Scratching her head really hard that it was burning, massaged her feet with gloves, was taking forever to come back with items, falling asleep while massaging her, & sneezing while massaging her (ew). This place was great but if you go make sure to make an appointment ahead of time & ask for one of the ladies. I used $29.00 groupon. When I got there the cashier showed me other options and I decided to upgrade to 90 minutes with some extra features. I was looking at that option on groupon but somehow I thought it was too long, than had the desire for it and paid more to get it. Just later I realize the cashier was no honest or calculate in my - customer favor. She should give me the groupon price - since I could always cancel groupon out and get another option or... not get it at all. She did not. She made $9 more but it left bad taste in my mouth since I do not like grid. The massage was great and very relaxing, it was also strong enough for me - I 've been working out everyday and I felt very tight. I do not know about the tip policy in those places but I usually leave $10.00 since they work so hard with their hands. With my 90 minutes the man was working even harder and he was finding the spots that usually bother me so I was gratefull, too bad I do not know his name - I left $15.00, even tho I felt like cashier was not honest. Smart business owners will give groupon customer the groupon price, since this is the way for them to keep coming. They had 90 minutes groupon offer and than some other price for walk in customer and she choose to overcharge me, it hit me later, otherwise I would speak up or cancel my groupon and by another.
