The reason we wanted to try this place because it was cheap. $29/ hour. The lady on the phone was like they have $45/ hour but she couldn't tell me on the phone when I asked what's the difference. So the $45 one is with oil.The massage was okay. This was my first time having Chinese massage. I usually have Thai massage. I didn't love it so I didn't want to give tips or anything and the lady stopped me and told me it's "optional" tip and showed me how much to give tips. "Satisfactory service" is $10-12. I weren't very happy that they stopped us and basically "forced" us to give tips. I thought it's optional so I gave a few bucks and of course, the massage guys weren't happy but oh well. Don't think I'll come back here. It was just okay and I didn't like the customer service. read more

"Interesting" is the word I would use. It was not professional at all and I knew the price was to good to be true. They didn't even ask me to fill out paperwork upon entering like most places. They didn't ask how hard the pressure should be or if I have any places on me that I want to worked on. When I walked in I went in a room with curtains, there was zero privacy. The masseuse told me to keep my clothes on and that it would be an extra 10 dollars if I wanted to take them off and use oil. During my massage I heard every other customer in the room it was very annoying and not relaxing at all. It was THE worst massage of my life During the end of the massage he kept banging on my butt which was super weird and I don't understand why he kept touching it. I was so close to getting up and being like, "okay thank you I'm going now." But I didn't. Finally when it was over I went to leave and the girl at the desk asked for a tip. And when I only left five she asked for more. Honestly I don't think they're even certified massage therapists and god I hope no one goes there. read more

I have been here before in the past and my new place was booked so I decided to come back again and it was incredibly disappointing. I now know why Yu's was able to take us right away and the place in deer park had a 4 hour wait. We paid for the $45 hour massage that was supposed to be deep tissue and acupressure, the massage was no different than a standard $29 massage. I asked my lady to apply more pressure multiple times and she never did, it was comparable to a light Swedish massage. She also left the room 3 times, for at least a minute each if not longer. I was looking for something new to do with my friend, and decided to purchase a Groupon for a couple's massage here. Ladies were very friendly, and my friend loved his massage (first time). I wasn't a huge fan, as I am used to having massages at finer locations that provide the actual "spa" experience, but for the price, it wasn't a bad deal. I was, however, a little surprised to find out that the massages take place over your clothing, was a bit uncomfortable at times. I also wasn't a fan of having to dangle my short little legs over the table for the foot soak as the rest of my body lay flat. Overall it was an okay experience. In case you don't know about reflexology, it's an asian style massage where you keep your clothes on. Rooms are less private compared to to western massage. Ambiance: great. Lots of places have an open area where all the massage happens, so there isn't much privacy. However, this place has semi private rooms of 2 beds each. The lighting was great as well Neck: it was okay. The lotion dried out quickly, and my massage therapist didn't re-apply. After he did the back, he returned to the neck and did a pinching motion, which was not enjoyable Arms: great! No complaints. Wished. Lasted longer. Feet: The water was just barely lukewarm. As he was working on my neck, the water progressively became cooler. This is the first place I've been to where the water to soak your feet was cool. It definitely took a lot away from the experience. Otherwise, feet was good. There wasn't as much calf, thigh, or hamstring action as I wanted. Back: This was the worst part of the massage, unfortunately. I feel like at most places, the back is painful. However, this was more painful than most places. His elbow was on my spinous process a good chunk of the time. Sacrum: same as the back. Elbow to the sacrum was painful. Overall, I would come back, but not before trying other places. The other individual I was with rates this place highly 5/5, and this was his favorite reflexology place. I come here with my friend every 2 weeks to get a massage. Worth the $29 for an hour massage (whole body) with your clothes on. I've never had a bad masseuse. The place is clean and for the most part quiet. Sometimes at night the lady on the phone can be loud and you can hear her down the hall but it doesn't bother me too much.. might bother someone else. It's not that private, just separated by curtains but again that doesn't bother me. Sometimes the person at the front can be a little pushy with the tip but I just learn to ignore them. read more

Hello Friends This Spa truly is a hidden Jewel. Long story short; this was my 1st time at this Spa; main reason is because I live about and 1hr away close to Northwestern University in Evanston. When I got there unfortunately the masseuse that I was supposed to see was a no show no call & of course; at first, I was extremely disappointed because I had to drive so far but The owner Mr. Allen was able to control the situation extremely well. He set me up with another masseuse by the name of Tony and he was phenomenal!! I usually only do female masseuses but Tony has made me a believer and is truly a healer and talented with his techniques on relieving stress especially in the neck Area. Not to mention the prices; which I could not believe were extremely impressive; for all that they do! To the owner Mr. Allen and the masseuse Tony you have now gained one loyal client that will drive an hour just to come see you guys thank you and continue to be the wonderful healers you are. My personal grade: I would have to give Yu spa a strong B+ My only small concern is privacy as most of the massage tables are close to each other and maybe if they would do a call and confirm so that the client and the masseuse are on the same page that would have pushed my blog critique of the massage spa to an A but outside of that; again I still have to grade them and give them a strong B+ The owner mr. This place is your typical Foot Spa massage joint, but a couple of steps up. First of all, the receptionist is friendly AND speaks English. Second, they have several couples rooms. The receptionist apologized that the room with the parallel massage beds was in use, but our room with two beds end to end worked out just fine. My husband and I called on the way and we were able to get an appointment for 2 in 10 minutes. I didn't get the names of the women working on us, but they were both very quiet but very good. Neither asked for pressure preferences, but they started off gentle and seemed to sense when to back down. The hot foot soak was perfect. I could have skipped the inside the ear massage, but I liked the popping, slapping, and pounding that another reviewer complained about. Tips if this is your first foot spa massage: women should wear a loose tank top and yoga pants or baggy shorts. Men may be asked to remove their shirts. Remove all jewelry and empty your pockets. Don't forget to silence your cell phone too. They accept all credit cards except AmEx. This place lets you put tip on the credit card, too. (Unusual for this type of spa). The price did go up to $29 for 1 hour, but it is definitely worth every minute. I noticed that there is also a Glenview location, which I will check out next time, since it is closer to my house. Because I was having an overall achy feeling around my body, I thought it was time for getting a nice massage to relieve myself of all that underlying pain. Most services around here are quite pricy, but Yu's Spa sticks out of the grey mass by offering a great pricing that is hard to match! I went there not having too many expectations because it was just 29.00$ for one whole hour - however, the service was actually pretty decent! I liked the warm water bath for the feet, although it feels a little weird having your legs bent at a right angle while you are lying flat down. The massage itself was quite enjoyable, although she could have been a little firmer with her grips even after I told her to tighten her grip a little. Overall, it was a standard massage apart from the water-bath which I consider a little extra treat. I also liked the Chinese instrumental music that they were playing. Even though they were replaying the playlist after around fourty minutes, it was pretty hard to tell due to the fact that most of the songs sounded similiar. Maybe I was even listening to the same song the entire time and I just did not realize until later...well, not that this is of too much relevance. So, I was orginally going to rate this place with a solid five stars due to the cheap price and the good service. But what happened in the end, gave this entire experience a bad side note: Having not even yet completed my credit card payment, I was already prompted to pay a tip in cash. After asking if that were also possible on the credit card bill, I received a hesitant nod after a minute of blank staring. To make one thing clear - I certainly do not consider myself a generous tipper, but being asked if "that is all" after writing down 5.00$ on the tip section of the bill, I had already felt a little aggravated. That feeling was amplified when I was suddenly prompted to pay a 10.00$ tip - aha, so suddenly more than 30% tip is the way to go here? (I did my research afterwards, and it is not). End of the story is that I left in two minds: On the one hand, I liked the massage - but on the other hand, I felt that the entire payment procedure could be handled, let's say, more delicate. Ok, we booked a couples massage, we were together however the room is open the the entire salon. The wall does not go to the ceiling and the door way is open to the next massage area so my husband and I didn't want to talk at all because we didn't want to disturb others. Also the therapists did not speak English so we were confused about what to do. Ended up getting my massage with shorts on...weird. Most of the massage was good, included hot stones which were nice. I made the appointment on Monday knowing that Sunday's typical fill up fast. It was for a couples massage. They took my name and number. This Sunday we showed up for our massage 10 minutes early only to find out that the rude lady at the front desk did not have my reservation. She was rude and unprofessional. I showed her my phone and how I was on the phone with them on Monday for over a minute but she didn't believe me. Save yourself disappointment and distress, go to Chinese Foot Spa. P. S. I am OBSESSED with Yu's Spa! It is an incredible massage for an amazing price: $28 for an hour long full body massage! So I have gotten a lot of massages at many different places. Right after Yu's opened, my mom brought me there but told me it is a little different from most places. First, you are not undressed. Instead, you get the massage fully clothed. Because of that, you get your massage with other people in the room. My mom and I got the "couples" room, so it was just the two of us in the room. I was a little skeptical but I figured I would give it a try. They do a GREAT job. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing, with soft spa music and water features and dimmed lights. You start lying face-up in a recliner type of chair and you soak your feet in a tub of hot water, which is really nice and relaxing. They also drape towels on you so you stay warm. Then the recliner is moved flat so you can turn over. After going for the first time, I was hooked. It has been open since February and I have already been there three times. I don't even live in the suburbs; I go to school in Champaign, and come to Yu's basically whenever I am home. I can't remember the name of my therapist the first time, but Tom and Sarah have both been great. Keeping your clothes on means you can do more active type of stretching. For people who have gotten massages before, you will definitely have a great experience. It is also an awesome place if you have avoided getting professional massages if you are uncomfortable being unclothed. Plus the price is amazing!! $28?! Are you kidding me?! Unbelievable! I must commend Yu's Spa on their great customer service! I received a gift certificate to Yu's Spa two Christmases ago and then I lost it. And of course when I found it, it had expired at the beginning of 2015. I called the spa and inquired whether they would still accept the gift certificate because I thought, why not?! Doesn't hurt in asking...the only thing I would lose is time! To my surprise, the woman I spoke to allowed me to use my expired gift certificate. So I set an appointment for the same day. I believe a regular price 1-hour massage is $29. This is an Asian-style massage spa, so massages are done fully clothed. The store front is quite small; there is a counter and a waiting area. When you walk in, you're greeted with the relaxing scent of lavender and dimly lit corridors. The corridors have rooms (not sure how many) with two large, comfy masseuse tables. I was glad to know I was alone in my room and you only sometimes faintly hear others getting a massage. The soft music was also soothing. My masseuse told me to place all my belongings on a small table and to remove my coat, sweater, socks, and boots! I would really recommend not wearing tight yoga leggings like I did because they require you to hike your pants all the way to your knees (you can just imagine my discomfort). They begin with having you soak your feet in a tub of warm water and massage your head. I would also caution you to not wear so much makeup because I swear I walked out with half an eyebrow! They eventually work their way to your arms and legs and then remove your feet from the bath to massage your feet. Then they tell you to flip over and they massage your arms and legs again and then your back. Some would say this Asian-style massage is much more rough and deep in pressure, but I tend to enjoy it! The only thing I would say was strange about my massage is that toward the end, my masseuse climbed up on top of me to massage me using her body weight through her knees. It didn't hurt and was quite nice, but I could only imagine how it would look like if someone were to walk in! Haha. Great 50 minute massage for $29. Place is clean and friendly. The only thing they need to change immediately is understand that initially putting your feet flat in that bucket of water while you're laying down on your back with your legs/knees bent at a 90 degree bend is a very awkward and unnatural if not detrimental position. Been here a few times now. Overall it's ok and for a few reasons. The place is really clean and the ambiance is nice which are positives. The inconsistency on the massages is what gets me. One guy I feel was falling asleep while massaging my feet! I couldn't see but I felt him stop for a few seconds then keep going, then slowly stop... They also use plastic gloves I think. I've been going to Yu's now for a few months and I've become a big fan. They charge $29 for a one hour massage which is a great value. They soak your feet in a tub of hot water and they are one of the few places I've gone that actually get the muscles in my lower back to unwind. If you are used to the traditional American massage places in the area, this may not be for you. The rooms are semi-private with no doors (just curtains), and it can sometimes be a little noisy. However, it's usually easy to schedule an appointment and the price is right. I'm becoming a regular there. read more

Under normal circumstances, I would give this place a 4 or 5 star rating.. I have visited this establishment quite a few times and had great experiences. Unfortunately, there is a woman named Huarong who substituted as the receptionist today, and it could not have been a bigger mistake. To have her be the voice and customer service representation is a liability to Yu's Spa, as she will ruin its reputation. We arrived 6 minutes early, but she did not take us until 6 minutes AFTER our appointment time. We are both women and realized I had a male masseur. I am a young woman and not comfortable with the idea of a male stranger rubbing me down.. We asked the masseuse if both could be females. She went to ask the receptionist. Huarong came in, immediately blaming us for not requesting it when we made the appointment. We told her we were never asked and we did not expect to have masseurs working on women without warning. She was very rude, arguing with us, and gave us little options to try to accommodate us. Another 10 minutes rolled around and 2 masseuses came in- I actually thought she made it work out- but before my masseuse even started, she came in the room telling her she can't work on me because there's 3 people waiting and we wasted 15 minutes. How did WE waste 15 minutes when she didn't even have us go in right away, and then argued with us instead of trying to come up with a solution? She even had the nerve to say she always asks for masseurs. (Why even say that? That's you, I'm paying for a service that I'd like to be comfortable and have a preference in) We told her she was being very unprofessional arguing with us, blaming us, and bad-mouthing us to the masseuses. I told her I'd like to have her name because I'm going to tell the owner how she's acting, since she blatantly does not care for customer service. She responded with, "Go ahead." No matter how hectic or frustrated she may have been, she is never to reflect that onto a customer paying for a specific service. Even if I was to admit it was my mistake for not requesting a female earlier, she had no right being so rude and disrespectful. She also shouldn't be telling me I'm being unreasonable when it's a legitimate request and WAS possible to do. Btw- there weren't anyone in the waiting room when we walked out.. If there were, she took our appointment and gave it to other people. The whole point of an appointment is to guarantee our hour. The female masseuse that later came in WAS available to take me since she was switching with the male masseur. Huarong caused us both to not even receive a massage. Want to talk about a waste of time? We drove 25 minutes there, spent 15 minutes not getting a massage, and drove 25 minutes back. For an establishment especially meant for relaxation and peace.. Huarong definitely made it stressful and ruined my experience. I am now hesitate to return and very disappointed. read more
