Closing on 12/22/24. I read on FB where this place was closing. Due to a previous experience, I was given a nice gift card so I wanted to use it. Here we are the middle of December and it's sunny and 67 degrees so I got a seat outside to enjoy the weather. I really am so disappointed they are closing. Even though I've had some uneven experiences here the owner, Kristina has always been willing to reach out, ask me what she could do to make it better. I have several really good memories from previous experiences here. Special people and special times that are all tied to this place. It's part of the community and the fabric of small town life in Fort Mill. i understand they will have a food truck so we will look forward to that. I'm sorry I had not tried the chili before today, it was just soooo good! It's very challenging for independently owned and operated business. So may hit hard during COVID. In the post COVID world, small business are hurting. Inflation is high, the cost of food and groceries are so high. It makes it harder to operate a business and turn a profit. If you're reading this NOW please think about the independently owned and operated business you can support, the FRANCHISE places don't really need our $'s. read more

This cafe was so cozy and welcoming with cute decor. It is inside a historic house in Fort Mills, SC and it was the perfect start to our day. The server was friendly, informative and polite as well as efficient. The food is freshly prepared with care and the food portions are generous. I had breakfast in a bowl with their heavenly potato casserole as the base topped with ham, scrambled eggs and cheese. My husband enjoyed his biscuit breakfast with eggs and ham. Their coffee is sourced from a local roaster and it was so good. Many bakery items available here too. Worth checking out when you're in the area. You won't be disappointed. read more

Owned by a mother and daughter located in an old house in Fort Mill. Homemade comfort food in a very homey setting. Went in on a Sunday morning and we were seated immediately. The staff was super friendly and answered any questions we had. My wife told the server (Addison) that she is Gluten free and she told her everything they could make for her. I had the Nothing But Basic breakfast which was 2 eggs and ham over a homemade biscuit with a side of their cheesy hash browns . My wife had the Z-Liciius which was basically the same thing but in a bowl. Everything was delicious and portions were huge! Z Bakery is a breakfast and brunch spot tucked away near downtown Fort Mill. It's an older house, converted into a restaurant and bakery, with a charming outdoor area at the back. Think courtyard feel, trees all around, and it's even dog-friendly. They serve excellent biscuits, croissants, eggs, grits, and more. The variety of bakery items and decent coffee make it worth your while. It's a hidden gem, albeit with a few quirks--parking can be tricky, but not horrible. Stopped by today for breakfast. As we parked we can hear live music coming from the back. So we opted to sit outside. Our hostess asked if we can wait for 5/10 mins so they can clean up in the back. The Owner of Z's came out to chat with us. I have to admit: she's the nicest lady around. Very pleasant. And invited us into the cafe to tour the place. Showed us their home made bake goodies. And the house. We left on our own to tour the rest of the house.. I currently live in Charlotte and to see a place like this be transformed from a house to a breakfast and bakery was really special. Charlotte Nc seem to be running over every spot. And just built something completely new. Don't even try to preserve the old. I ordered the croissant with eggs and cheese. 2 sausages and a cup of fruits.. The eggs was scramble but it was nicely made. Every soft. And not over cook. I really enjoyed it. The sausages are usual cook to the standards so nothing to say there. Customer service overall is great.. I would like to come back to try other goodies. read more

Hidden gem in the Fort Mill area for breakfast and lunch. It's a quaint house with a cozy vibe and a nice outdoor space. The food is outstanding. My go-to items are the cinnamon roll heated up, hashbrown casserole and a breakfast sandwich on a croissant. I enjoy their black coffee too. My friend ordered the turkey sandwich with Brie on sourdough and it was stacked with meat. Definitely a filling option. The staff has also been so kind and attentive. Parking lot can be tricky! They do have party rental options if you're looking to host a shower, birthday party or other get together. read more

We've been more times than possible to count at this point and every single time has been excellent. We appreciate that they refresh their menus but also keep the favorites as well. Today we had breakfast platters and also their cinnamon french toast which holy moly was DELISH. The service here is what makes this place special- it's very much a small town feel and incredibly welcoming. You really get the sense that they care if you like the food and your experience. Time to FES up: A great local spot! I have been trying this place since it opened. I think they have really improved on some things since the beginning. F(ood): Most recently, I had a fabulous soup, turkey Reuben and pecan pie cupcake! I've also enjoyed the Mozzarella Panini. The Mac and cheese very good. I didn't love my Belgian waffle at a breakfast but they were quick to make me another (too hard first time around). Mac and cheese very good. Need to try some salads. Overall very good food just once in awhile I'll have something I don't love. I'm giving five stars because last two meals were great!! E(nvironment): a renovated house in downtown Fort Mill. I am mad at myself for waiting so long to try Z Bakery! My club sandwich and blueberry fluff (kind of like a blueberry baked French toast) were delicious! Our server (I think her name was maybe Ellie?) was precious. Food was a pretty long wait, but I was with good company, so not too big of a deal. Other tables seemed to get their orders more quickly. This is a cute little place tucked away in fort mill. Parking can be challenging during buy times. This place was sort of busy for Saturday around 12 noon. Hosts at front were very welcoming. Great little place that has, surprisingly, been around for a number of years. We just recently found it, off of Tom Hall road on Confederate Road, so you have to look for it. Cozy and like a ladies' tea room, but much more than that. A small house where each room is decorated, containing tables and chairs. Wait staff is gloved and masked and performs table service. Menu is a good variety of light bites, sandwiches and salads. Parking is in front on what was the front yard. The back yard is available for parties and for larger groups. Ask about using it. Friendly people. Relaxing and excellent service. Endless water and iced tea. At least for now, meals are served on paper and cardboard, with plastic utensils. Portions are generous. Anticipating a tiny egg salad sandwich I ordered a side salad. Too much. The salad was good for a light lunch and the egg salad was on thick bread covered with a good portion of egg salad. All yummy. Wife had a Tomato Mozzarella Panini, which was plenty to eat. Sandwiches and salads around $10 each. Tea $1.50. Open for breakfast and lunch. Came for brunch on a Saturday. Place is charming and the service was good. Big portion sizes and great value! We ordered the BYO breakfast quesadilla and BYO breakfast croissant. Both tasted great, but were just quite a bit soggy and harder to eat. I think the fact we had tomatoes on both probably was a cause for some of that, so we will avoid that next time. Definitely will be back again for brunch and would love to try lunch as well read more

This is a cute local spot! I've been twice now and my recommendation would be to definitely make a reservation if you're visiting on the weekend. The food is very no frills, but delicious! I had a biscuit sandwich one time (great) and the French toast the next time (delish!). The wait staff have all been incredibly friendly and have provided a great experience all around. Two things that could've made the experience better: it was pretty hot inside both times I visited and guests were fanning themselves, and they use a very fragrant cleaner on the tables. I'm glad everything is being cleaned properly, but the smell isn't super appetizing while you're eating and tables are being bussed nearby. read more

This is a nice house that is a cafe and bakery. They sale several different pieces of jewelry for a great price. I came on a Saturday afternoon for a baby shower and we have a small room and the sunroom set up for the treats and food. The sandwiches were flavorful and the pasta salad and potato salad were nice. I think it's a great place to host a bridal shower, family dinner, club meeting, etc. they have a small gravel parking lot but on the weekend it appears you can park in company parking lot across the street. I am intrigued to come back and try this place on a different day and time. Enjoy! read more
