I've tried about 7 different nail salons around OC, some good some not so good, but Z nails definitely made it to the top of my list. I had Michael do my full set of acrylics and he was friendly and precise. He made sure I was happy with the shape and length of the nails and was extremely patient while I tried to pick out multiple different shades of colors for each nail (I was going for an easter/spring vibe). The prices are incredible as well, as I had been paying about $85+ average at other salons & that was before tip. I will absolutely be returning and recommend others try this spot out as well!

I hate leaving a poor review for this place as I know the owners are great at what they do but my nails were done with someone else who apparently had no idea how to put gel manicure. First off when I was there I wanted to do a French manicure with blue tops but when she painted the first one, it was so bad that I asked her to leave my nails without any colors. After just 10 days my nails peeled off ( starting at day 5) I am going to post the photo of my nails and you can judge by yourself. You can tell from my photo that my nails are very new as a couple of them are showing how much my nails have grown. I won't be going back to that lady.

The nail design I wanted , including a color match.

I shall list below the reasons they are given one star, based on my first time experience. I made an appointment the day of, I was looking to get dip powder with extensions done and the designs based off of either of the two photo options I chose. They both were simple. I sat with Mike, who was kind and somewhat communicative. My issue is the fact that with the design I asked for, i needed assistance on choosing the right dip powder color to match because - I'm not a nail tech nor do I know how the colors come out on my nails after being applied. None of the staff I spoke with, including Mike, helped me choose the right color even after I explained I needed help on picking the closest color he said, "you can pick any of them" - ahhh, no I can't because I'm looking for a copy of the picture I had not some random color to go with dark brown tips. I was looking for a nude base. During the process of removal, my nail extensions were removed yet not done correctly. I still had old product under my nails . There was no cuticle cutting or even cleaning up of my nails before applying the new dip. And most places at the least cut the cuticle to clean up the area for a new application and to also make it look better overall. I continued to allow Mike to work and finish the dip application, however when he began to apply the dark brown tip he didn't use a fine nail brush, he just used the brush from the bottle- which made the application of the French tips look TERRIBLE. Not only that, it didn't match well with the color I tried to replicate from the photo I had. Again, I don't know what to choose and the whole reason for showing a design picture is for the nail tech to copy what they see. I had him remove the brown tips because they didn't look Good nor did the colors go well together. I always tip and tip 20%, but that doesn't mean I'm satisfied with the service. Mike didn't offer to help decide on a different color for the tip or offer any insight on what might go well, so I was at that point over the lack of care within the service provided and just wanted to go home. Mind you, the service took nearly two hours. The nail shaping was not up to par, there are bumps on some of the nails where it hasn't been filed down smoothly. Overall, the experience I had at this nail salon was poor. If someone comes in wanting a design and is willing to pay for it, why are they subjected to make decisions on the colors when they're uneducated in the nail business. The whole point of showing a design to a nail tech is to get a replicated style. I won't be return to this location sadly. Side note: they don't use fans to suck up the dust from the nails and you're breathing all of that in, and that is also why the stars are low.

I was recommended to this place by my 2 coworkers and am glad that I went! Heather was amazing!!! I like to keep my nails extra short; she shaped them beautifully and took her time with each nail. I don't often get my nails done but I will definitely be coming back!

OMG !!!!!! Fantastic experience I had!!!! I'm from out of town. I made an appointment for Saturday and they were ontime and extremely professional.one attendant doing the manicure and the other doing a peticure. They are the only nail place I go to for 7 years now! I even drive 25 minutes away just so I can still go to them because they are the best! I went to Z nails for a manicure, and after just one week, the polish peeled off completely. When I returned to have it fixed, the technician claimed he (Mike owner!!) didn't remember me and said I would need to pay again for the service. I found this very frustrating, especially since I was hoping for a resolution to my issue. It's disappointing when a salon doesn't stand by their work or acknowledge returning customers. I won't be coming back and suggest others look for a place that values customer service. customer servise = 1 star product quality= Zero ( stands the name of the salon) No wonder why everyone bring their own gel!!!! read more

What a find! This place takes such good care of their customers' nails. I was impressed with their delicacy when removing my acrylics so as not to damage my natural nail. Shout out also to Heather for taking the time to tell me about the different nail enhancements and giving me advice about nail shapes/lengths so that they wouldn't get damaged. I live in Nevada but come to OC often enough to make a stop here when I can. I wasn't the type to get my nails done frequently but this place has given me a reason to! I've never walked away from here disappointed. Make sure to make an appointment beforehand and bring cash, they do take card, but you get more points thru their loyalty rewards program with cash pay. read more

I never have a problem getting an appt with the person I like. Celeste completely understands my specific needs when it comes to pedicures and eye brow waxing! I use a walker and the whole practice goes out of their way to help me around the shop. It feels like they take special care of me. read more

Omg I'm speechless! Giving Z nails 5 stars! Best customer service, best design, very clean and comfortable homey place. I found Z nails by accident and I'm so glad I did! Z nails is truly a hidden gem in Orange County. My nails turned out amazing. I love it! It's so hard to find a nail artist that understands the nail shape I wanted since I use the computer for 8 hours and I can't really go longer than this. I'm just happy how it turned out. They accept credit cards, but cash is preferred to get points and get $10 off on your next visit. Give this place a go please you won't be disappointed! read more

Michael and staff are wonderful! They take really good care of you and provide full service mani/pedi for a really reasonable price. The work is very carefully done and the place is nice and clean. The building is currently under construction (facade) but you can safely enter through walkway. Great find! read more

Excellent service? Check! Clean? Check! Affordable? Check! Z Nails have "nailed" the mani-pedi business! I've been looking for a good place in South OC for a while and all the places I've tried have been complete misses! I'm so glad I found Z Nails and Christine. Small place but I prefer that rather than a Costco sized nail place. Very nice staff, super clean, they did SUCH a good job on my nails ! I had a poor experience elsewhere so wanted to try a new place and this will be my go to spot in OC from now on. I am happy to say that I found my go-to nail salon. Friendly staff, clean shop, and not to mention affordable prices for amazing quality nails. It only costs $30 to get SNS dipping powder done, and they offer complimentary beverages while you're getting pampered. Heather is hands down one of the best nail technicians I ever had. She is meticulous and listens to what you want. She makes sure that every nail is PERFECT! 2 weeks later and my nails still look amazing. I am pretty confident that my nails will last up to 4 weeks. I can't wait to book my next appointment with Heather! read more

Coming here was a happy accident and I'm so grateful for it! The original place I had booked closed for weather conditions without warning so I found Z Nails and drove over quickly (I was on a time crunch). They quoted me about a 15 min wait for a dip manicure as there were only three people working and all were currently with customers. I was amazed their quote was spot on as other nail salons I've been to I've seen them quote a certain time and then go well over that time frame. I sat down with Heather and she was super honest and informational about the color I had chose. She explained it might be clear and not a great color. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she immediately had a color in mind that was very similar and solid. Heather explained that the nail polish brands send sample nail colors but paint them on a white background rather than clear, so a lot of times the color in the sample isn't going to be the color that appears on your nail. I never knew that and thought it was so amazing she was honest about it! We had great conversation and she listened to how I wanted my nails shaped. I asked her opinion on different shapes and she gave me her two cents which I appreciated because I always second guess myself. From start to finish Heather paid great attention to detail on my nails. Not to mention it was completely affordable and not ridiculously over priced like some salons. I'll definitely be coming back for more with Heather! **This photo was taken a week later and you can see how great they still look! They still feel sturdy and have kept that square shape. read more

While the technician was friendly, the final result was shoddy. There was nail polished staining the surrounding skin on more than two nails. Would expect better quality results considering this cost me $50 + tip. I felt like he rushed through the job as well even though there was no apparent reason to. read more

Heather is probably my favorite nail lady I have ever had. She is very gentle with your real nails and doesn't damage them. I told her my plans of wanting to eventually use my real nails but my real nails are very brittle, they've always been that way. She introduced me to the dipping powder. I did tips until my real nail grew out and then took them off and I'm now doing dipping powder. They have a wide selection of colors for dipping powder. Plus dipping powder is a healthier option for your nails because the color is in the powder and if you like gel because there is no drying time, then dipping powder is for you. The dipping powder is about the same strength as acrylic. They are pretty busy at this salon because it's worth it. I know everyone there is super nice and they all know what they're doing, I just really like Heather. Just an FYI. For dipping powder you can use tips for length and use the powder over. Please give them a chance, I promise you won't regret it. read more

Great experience! My nail techs were gentle, took their time (even though it was the end of the day!), and didn't push me for upgrades. I liked that I faced the wall of colors (opposed to a wall of customers also seated in massage chairs), and there wasn't a strong acetone smell like most nail places (being pregnant that is much appreciated!). read more

Update--- they are still awesome and they are open (after the long COVID break). There is now plexi glass in between chairs for safety and to separate guest from technician. Guests will need to wear masks the entire time they are in the salon. Call for an appointment and they will get you in. read more

My second appointment I had to take my daughter with me she's 4 years old and I gave her a tablet and she was just sitting next to me , so it also went ok but what I didn't like they started to speaking in their own language made me feel uncomfortable. Anyways My third time I took my daughter with me again and as soon as I entered she asked me ' Don't you have anyone to watch her?' I said no , I was surprised with this question , she showed me the seat and we sat down. I should've left immediately but since the language barrier I thought she didn't want to be rude it was just how it came out. I was wrong. She wanted to be rude. My daughter sits next to me , she didn't even get up once, she was just in her tablet and sometimes would watch my nails. She doesn't jump around or scream or anything. While she was trying to make herself comfortable in the chair the lady started to telling her don't get up don't do it like that. And I told her hey it's okey she's not doing anything. She said oh because last time a child fell from that chair that's why I'm saying. I didn't like her attitude, obviously if you're seen me with my child it means I didn't have anyone to be watching her. If I would , why would I bring her with me ? This is not how you should be handling the situation. And just speaking your own language in front of a client not professional. I don't understand you I don't know what you're talking about. Anyways this was a lesson to me , I did go back to my old nail salon , they are more professional , they have a smiley face for their client and they don't ask questions that they shouldn't ask. I rather drive 5min more than getting this type of attitude. Good luck.

OK - this is NOT your pretty little salon with relaxing decor and sumptuous little massage chairs. This is not your high-end hang out. This is simply the best place to go if you want acrylic nails that LOOK GREAT and STAY ON and DON'T GET INFECTED and are inexpensive. Let's face it. No one sees the salon where you go to get your nails done, but they do see your hands. Pretty much all the time, every day, whatever you do (unless you are channeling your inner Jackie-O and run around town in gloves) so what your nails look like is a big deal. This is why I've had Sunny do my nails since he opened in 1994. That's kinda a LOOOOOONG time, isn't it? But that's what qualifies me to write this review. read more

I have been a customer of Sonny and Dana's since 1995, and recently moved to L.A. county. I have YET to find a salon that does acrylics as well as they did. I miss them so much! Terrible experience! The products are overpriced for the quality you get--materials feel cheap and flimsy. Customer service was frustrating, with rude and unprofessional staff who seemed uninterested in helping. it makes me so so sad to write this review because i was originally a ginormous fan of "the nail…read moreboutique," but after the service i received last week, i feel that i have to say something. last friday i had an appointment to get my prom nails done at 2:30 PM. when i arrived, i waited for over 45 minutes to receive my service. i was never offered water or anything (which honestly isn't a big deal but i just felt it was worth mentioning) but was also never really acknowledged. i almost felt like they forgot about my appointment. when my service finally began, i showed my nail tech my inspiration picture and she was confident and excited to recreate my vision. however, what i left the salon with is far from what i asked for. i left with a flower that is sloppy, none of the petals connect, and that has a big red circle with black lines, which is nothing like what i asked for. beyond that, i felt like my french tips were somewhat rushed and a bit sloppy. i don't expect perfection by any any any means, but i just generally felt neglected as a customer and a bit rushed once my service began. beyond this, by the time monday came, which was 3 days after my initial appointment, one of my nails had fallen off. this was a full acrylic set that i paid over 93 dollars for, and less than 5 days later, they were already falling off of my fingers. again, i feel really bad writing this because i dont want to tarnish their reputation or make them seem like a terrible buisness, but im just really unsatisfied and upset with the service i received, and really frustrated that i spent close to 100 dollars for a service that does not meet my expectations. i know that 100 might not be a lot, but im still a teenager in high school, and i work really hard at my job to make that money, so losing that much of my money is just hard. i just would advise that if you go here, you definetly keep your designs simple, and make sure to go at a time when you know they won't be busy so that your appointment is not rushed.
