I also didn't expect it to come with home fries, wonderful salad with balsamic vinegar and a whole wheat toast which o think had flax seeds. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! There were a lot of people so I had to wait a while to get an order in and the food also, however, it was with the wait. The food felt so comforting and homie. I also loved that the Chef came out and delivered the food to the customers. Such a sweet person as well as the waitress. The ambiance is also very cool and chill. I met up with a group of girlfriends for brunch here. We were making a conscious effort to support a business in the neighborhood. At first glance it looks like a small store front. However, when you go inside you realize it is a restaurant. Not huge but the have a few tables. I probably wouldn't come here with more than 4 people b/c it looks like it'll be a tight fit and a longer wait if you don't come when they open. One friend and I decided to split the zaca platter and hanger steak panini b/c we couldn't make up our mind. It turned out to be the best choice... both were good. The table shared an order of the french toast. that was also pretty tasty The service was okay. The waiters were very nice but they tend to forget things. when your orange juice you asked for 3 times make it to your table after your done is a problem. WTF happened to Zach. As a neighborhood resident, I was excited when it opened. I frequented fairly often with friends and family. The staff was always on point. The food was good, the ambiance attractive. The bonus? I feel happy to support a black-owned business. Being black in a fast gentrifying neighborhood, it is important to me that I support the few businesses that manage to survive. I returned to Zaca twice in the last month; one with family, yesterday with a family friend. My wife and I thought we'd give Zaca another try after a fairly unpleasant experience with family members. We believe in second (sometimes third) chances. I don't know where to begin. It's clear they're grossly understaffed. We waited for 45 minutes for our order. When we arrived just after the lunch hour there was one party eating, and another couple waiting to order. We were promptly acknowledged, seated and given a menu. Once we decided on our order, we were forgotten. No water was served. No bread or anything. 45 minutes later, after having to audibly complain to the kitchen staff (and watching another patron leave out of frustration) our croque-monsieurs and fish and chips were served. While I loved Zaca's croque monsieurs before, what arrived was a folded piece of canned ham with a glob of "cheese" between two plain slices of wonder bread. It was mushy and tasteless. My café au lait was so weak and tasteless, I asked for extra half-n-half to thicken it and add some flavor. We never received an apology or explanation for the gross delay and awful food. When clearing the table, the wait staff forgot half the plates. Just disappeared after clearing one plate and a glass. I had to hunt her out of the kitchen. The bonus? We loved having the total of our bill announced in a loud voice to the patrons as if we were checking out at a grocery store. It's clear the place has gone down in quality of food and staff. While I would hate to see it go, I can't support a business that doesn't even try to please their customers. I am really disappointed. read more

So I had Saturday brunch here and the food was okay I order the shrimp and grits with a side of asparagus. We sat at the bar because the place was crowded, and it was then that I witnessed the waitress removing the water bottles from the empty tables, and instead of her washing out the water bottles, she just added fresh water from the pipe to refill it. I then witnessed her remove our cups because I refused to drink the water, and give it to someone else without washing it. . Sorry that's not hygienic and I will NEVER eat here again. When we first arrived at the restaurant I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. However, the food took WAY too long to come out and we were the only customers at the time. And I think it's because they have a small kitchen and they are making one meal at a time. Then when the meal comes out it's not as hot. I ordered pancakes, eggs and potatoes. The pancakes were pretty dry, but the eggs and potatoes were great. I also ordered a mango/pineapple smoothie, but that wasn't great either. My friends also weren't excited about their meals either. I went a month ago and forgot to review, for my birthday with a few friends. I wanted something close by, good and not too fancy. This place ticked all the boxes. For me. It's a quaint neighborhood eatery, good food, relaxed vibe, and very friendly wait staff. Checked in the the waitress several times. Was told 10 more minutes, then 8 more minutes and over and over. Writing this review as it's closing in on a 75 minute wait. They finally at least brought the soup out. Just want to be clear this review is not based on the food but solely on the wait time and the staffs inability to at least prioritize a customer who frequently was checking in and being frustrated with the wait time. Went to a delicious Brunch and Baby Shower at Zaca's. It was a group of us around 20. It's a great place to chat and chew, and enjoy in a small group. The restaurant was very accommodating. Our food was cooked fresh, served steaming hot and most of all delicious, yum! The service was excellent! Vanessa our server with a smile was quick, and made sure our orders were correct. The owner came out to make sure we were comfortable and that service was to our satisfaction. Love that this place is black owned. Most places serve brunch on Sundays only, but I will be going back especially since they serve brunch on Saturday, bravissimo! You can also eat al fresco. Love it! I really hate to rate this place so low but I did not have the best experience here. I came here for brunch. It took them 25 minutes to finally take our order even though I told them 3 times that we were ready to order. After they finally took our order, the waitress tells me that they got my smoothie wrong (I ordered mango and banana, they added a ton of blueberries and then asked me if I was okay with it). How do you screw that up? Then the French toast that I ordered was burnt on some sides with the strawberries incredibly soggy. I am not sure if it was laziness that made them think it was a good idea to microwave strawberries but I was not feeling it. Also, it was very cold and every time the door opened and closed, the whole restaurant was blasted with cold air. Please put an enclosure/divider outside of the door. Overall, I could tell that they were trying their best and the servers were definitely sweet. But combined with the long wait, burnt food and just plain ol' clumsiness (no water for our table, getting our order wrong, glass being broken by a waiter right next to our table and sweeping my foot with a broom), I will not come here again. Maybe their to-go section of the restaurant is better. I still will not be coming back to find out. read more
