Initial consultation with Gary was good and he seemed like a reliable cabinet maker. He is very…read moreproud of his tenure in the cabinet business. When our cabinets were installed there were several things not up to general standards. The cabinets came with the paint scuffed off in many spots, we had to ask them to come back out to repair. Additionally, they drilled holes to hold wall cabinets in spots that were not hidden and are very visible from a distance. When we asked them to fix this they filled them with caulk assuring us that it would look "perfect". It did not. When they installed the front shaker panel, the inserts were too small for the opening. Instead of creating new inserts so that the opening was equal distance all around (which would have required more material), they removed the front panel and created a new one that was larger on the bottom than the top, creating a front that is not proportional. This became their MO, do the least amount of work and put patches on things instead of making it right. Most concerning Gary installed all of our cabinet drawers with very cheap cabinet slides / hardware. The drawers were very hard to open and the soft close had to be pushed completely to shut. He assured us these were the best of the best. After doing some research with other cabinet makers, we learned these were not the best and a product that most cabinet makers did not use due to negative reviews from owners. We asked Gary to replace them with the slides / hardware we were advised on and he said they were way too expensive. Finally we convinced him to replace them. His crew came out and replaced all but one. They lied to my face when I told them the one didn't seem to be working and they said it was replaced. After a month of following up with Gary he said he wasn't going to replace them and blew us off. Our contractor said Gary had never left his client unsatisfied - consider us unsatisfied! I would avoid this cabinet maker if you can, he clearly is out to cheat his clients and is using bait and switch on materials to get the jobs done and get paid.

I was worried at first that they wouldn't have many options for wallpaper, but I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and saw they have over 30 wallpaper books to look through. The staff was so helpful when we mentioned we were looking for something floral, and made sure we had bookmarks to use to help when deciding between books. They also helped pull a few books they thought could have what we were looking for. When it came down to ordering, the process was super simple and took less than 5 min to get the order in and pay. The wallpaper arrived to the store within a week, and I was notified by phone when it was ready for pick up. I will definitely come back for any future flooring, painting, or wallpaper needs!

She was helpful and wrote down a quote on the back of her business card of $1950 based on the cabinet drawings from the cabinetmaker. It included shelf brackets, a built sink, and backsplash. A person has to come out and verify measurements after the counters are built and installed. We scheduled a time based on the cabinetmaker's schedule, and that went smoothly. The measurer calculated 6 square feet more than what Lavivia and I separately had measured. A few days later she sent a quote for $3200 and said I needed to submit a $1600 immediately to get the project on her schedule. I emailed her back wanting to understand the more than $1200 price difference. After a day of no response I called her and left a message asking the same. I gave her another 24 hour, then decided to search elsewhere. I never heard back from her. Most people, I expect, don't have time to start over, so I expect they're use to getting away with this technique, but I had started early in the project. I went to Home Depot and started the process over. I chose the same product and gave them the cabinetmaker's drawings. They came up with the same measurement I and Lavivia had to begin with. The price was reasonable at around $2100. I said let's do it. She said Sims would have to come out and verify. I was stunned. I told they had already, and told her the story. I then gave her the formal quote from them to make sure we had apples to apples so they couldn't try to raise the price, even using their measurer's figure. The price went up to $2300, but I was still good. So, Sims called in a few days to send someone to measure. I told them their guy already had, and the story. They adamantly said it was going to cost a lot more than that, because I went to a third party. I said, whatever, do you need to come measure again? They said they could use the one they had done. I thought they were done with me, but a week later I called Home Depot to check on the project. Home Depot checked and said it was in production and would be installed on Monday. Installation went well. Lavivia's original estimate included counter brackets to hold the overhang, but that dropped off, so I ordered those separately and had installed them myself. After the install, a rep from Home Depot came by my house to check to see if installation had gone smoothly. I said it did, then told him my story. He said if I used the online template and got charged for more material than was installed, Home Depot would refund that part. I said yeah! I went by the store then emailed the Home Depot rep about having them explain why the measurer got 6 more square feet than we. Sims finally sent the measurer's template he had drawn out, then, in a separate email the numbers he used to calculate square footage. Sure enough, he had counted the overlap corner twice, 6 square feet. I emailed Home Depot rep saying that didn't seem right. This whole things is about ethics. Sims is out for as much money as they can take you for. I guess I looked naive and gullible. I didn't get the card of the Home Depot rep who stopped by the installation day ( the store person didn't know who it could be), otherwise I'd pursue getting a refund for the overmeasured amount.

After the floors were refinished, my movers severely damaged them by dragging a jukebox with a broken leg across a 5 foot area. I literally cried, and called Bruno back with little hope. His team was able to perform an undetectable spot repair on the damaged section of the floor. It is literally perfect, because the damage is in front of a wall of windows, which hides nothing. The photos speak for themselves. I chose the Bona commercial water based finish, which is a specialty finish for durability, since I have a dog. I went with the matte finish for better durability to hide my dog's wear and tear. This is the second home I used Bertolli's services, and I highly recommend them!
