Dude at the front desk was so rude to me today. I came by today and lined up behind 2 customers. And when they moved to the right to the food only line, i moved up to the express line that says "drinks and snacks only". When i placed my order of 1 water bottle, the tall guy behind the counter with mustache looked at me like I am a scumbag for cutting everyone and told me there a line in a disgusted voice. Immediately i felt like something is wrong. And I politely told him you should take the signs down then. And he replied with oh its for the summer time when its busy, which is totally irrelevant way of denying fault. I left without saying anything because i was so speechless by his words.. not only does he not recognize he is at fault he even try to gas light me into thinking its my fault for seeing a sign that shouldnt have even been up. I believe if you have a sign up for a line and someone goes up to it when it's closed. All you needed to do was say that line is closed nicely, not make the client feel like hes the one at fault and was trying to cut everyone. This overpriced beach eatery was awful. We paid $48 for a hot dog, burger, chili cheese fries and chili cheese strips. First of all, we didn't realize the chili cheese strips are a small order of nachos with very little chili or cheese. Definitely not worth the $10, but that was our mistake for not realizing they meant tortilla strips not chicken strips. Aside from the price for essentially cold, unsalted nacho chips, the chili had no flavor! Even adding salt, pepper, and their seasoning blend did little to help the unflavored chili. The same bland chili was put on cold fries for the chili cheese fries. These at least had more of the toppings but no flavor. Hot dog was dry but otherwise a basic dog, similar to the costco food court only without onion or relish offering. Burger was small, bland with the only flavor coming from the sauce. Final note, the server was unable to answer any questions and just repeated everything back to us. Definitely a no go for us. read more

Highly recommend this spot. This past weekend me and my girlfriend decided to take our bikes and hit HB for some outside rides. On the way back my left pedal and arm flew off my bike. I walked my bike and parts down the boardwalk and arrived here at Zach's. I told the gentlemen my issue and he lent me the tools and even helped me fix my bike. Man I was so greatful and offered to pay something but he wouldn't have it. Cool people and dope area I'd highly recommend going back. read more

Customer service at the counter definitely needs to improve. They act like they are the only place in town to rent a bike. We rented one of the two seater canopy bikes and it was in pretty bad shape--rust everywhere. It was difficult to pedal, I am assuming because of condition and age. The older guy who we returned the bike to was nice and even indulged us by taking our photo sitting on the bike. They need to hire more people like him. read more

Really odd aggressive employees. Went here with friends to get a bike rental. Decided on a bike and the business owner and son were acting extremely aggressive to other patrons and then to us. He walked away to accuse a random person of smoking weed.. then came back and told us to "make up our damn mind" when we already decided on a bike. Never coming back. Got charged full price for an Açaí bowl that came out with no banana. When I asked if there was banana the guy goes "we're out". I then said "maybe you should tell customers that before you serve it and charge them for it. He then goes "I wasn't the one to ring you up". He finally gets the keys, opens the shop, and proceeds to tell me that his son called me twice. Let me tell you, the HULK in me was awaken. He then tells me that he's going to call me to make sure MY PHONE is WORKING! OF COURSE I LET HIM CALL ME TO PROVE THAT I NEVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL. He tries multiple times to call me.. but he punches in a wrong number.. and does it again and the phone wasn't ringing on his end.. then he says, "I believe you!" WT.. you don't even know how to use your phone? *FACE PALM* He then says he will charge me $40.. NO WAY! After wasting an hour and forty minutes of my TIME? NO WAY! We argued back and forth and I'm sorry, he wasn't worth my time and energy. Zack only thinks about himself. He only thinks about money. He doesn't care about his service/customers. I know it's a business, but have some decency to understand what I had to go through because of your lack of communication to your customers. This is UNACCEPTABLE. Absolute worst experience. My kids were sitting on a couch waiting for 3 meals we purchased and the owner of the place starts yelling at these kids. 7 years old and younger. One of the kids had tossed a sandal near the ground which I witnessed and the owner started yelling out them to leave and accusing them of not buying anything. This was an outside sitting area. I addressed the owner and he stood up like he was going to confront me. I explained we had purchased 3 meals for the kids and they were waiting. BEWARE: This place would like to retain your drivers license and your credit card while you rent products. Having traveled all over the world, I have never run into this practice. When asked about this practice, the proprietor's response was "you don't trust me, I don't trust you!" While they assured me that everything was kept secure, they simply reached underneath the front counter and showed me the drivers licenses and credit cards they had. Then they walked away from the counter for a short period of time leaving free access to all of those credit cards and drivers licenses. This felt very shady. Your private, personal, and financial information will not be secure here. We terminated our arrangement and went elsewhere. read more

Had a wonderful day at the beach thanks to Zacks. I can't speak as to the father, as he bolted when we entered the store lol, but Joe (son) was really great. He was patient, funny, accommodating, and helpful. He handled our group of 5 loud rambunctious woman quite nicely and respectfully. We rented bikes, one of those double bike carts (which by the way are a lot harder than they look), also got a kite and a volleyball and off we went. Zack's has been here for years. I think the family and I rented a carriage bike from them once years ago. Other than that, I regularly ride my bike down to the pier and indulge in some coffee...and maybe a breakfast burrito here. Then, I sit down at one of their tables and reminisce about the good ol days of daily trips to the sand and surf with a side of beach strips. The owner, Mike is a little strutting schnauzer of a man who rubs some people the wrong way with his old-world attitude and sarcastic demeanor. He's really not that bad, folks. The location is staffed by several teens and a handful of middle aged, tattooed, grizzled surfer types who ride bikes to work because their driver licences have been suspended/revoked. If any one of those grizzled oldies read this, they will laugh because they know it's true. The food is good for what it is - beach snack shack food. Let's not fool ourselves. Gourmet it is not. But, for a meal at the beach it is decent. Nice seating area with tables and umbrellas. Great place to relax and people watch. read more

I would like to thank Zack's for allowing my dad to be able to get down to the surf in the beach-ready wheelchair they have for their customers. He was celebrating his 91st birthday and I had heard that Zack's has a beach wheelchair with over-sized tires that can be pushed on the sand. They did, and I was able to take him right down to the surf. The owner is super friendly and I learned he took care of his parents for 36 years. That's worth 5 Stars! read more

VERY UNPLEASANT experience with owner! Hopefully this never happens to you. As you can see from the pictures, I was unable to back out of my parking spot (after several attempts) due to ZACKS HB's van. Fine, no biggie. I did have to call ZACKS to ask them to inform the driver because I was on my way to pick up my kids from school. The man on the phone was very polite and helpful. When the driver (who turned out to be the owner) walked up he immediately pointed at me and said "You have plenty of room to get out", and "Is this all you do, call and complain?". Um, no, I'm trying to leave to go pick up my kids from school. After 2 attempt to back out and pull in straight, he proceeds to tell me he's in the lines CLEARLY NOT judging by the pics. So, with no other recourse to air my grievances, I have taken to FB and YELP. I do NOT recommend businesses of people who act this way. read more
