*The Yelp 100 Challenge Now that I'm writing this review I'm craving fresh Boston Creme pie after a serving of bacon and omelets. I tend to visit to meet my mother half way between our homes to catch up and indulge before or after a trip to the Natick Collection. Overall the staff is friendly, the food is delish with a bit of everything, theres plenty of seating, plenty of parking, and even when its close to closing the staff doesn't rush you! This location I prefer as Ive never had to wait for more then 3-5 minutes during busy hours. At the Brookline location the line is out the door and around the block on a weekend! Needless to say I am beyond happy they opened this location, the staff is great, and the food never disappoints. Ive sat at the counter and in booths alone and with others and Ive always had a great meal. End of story. :) read more

This place NEVER lets me down. They have the best salads in town. Large, fresh, and fast! The nicoise and Cobb are my favorites. Their lemon vinaigrette is really tasty! The bagel chips and cream cheese are of course always yummy! Also pickles of course! I will also say I have had their fries which are top notch! We also tried a side of egg salad and it was really good and fresh with only a Tiny bit of mayo. INSIDER TIP: If it's busy and you don't feel like waiting, there are two hightops near the windows in the front and they are almost always available. We had great service and got right in by sitting there. Hostess was super nice helping recommend the seats and the server was the perfect mix of chill and attentive. LOVE THIS PLACE! read more

Had high expectations for this place given it was always packed/long wait times. Ordered takeout and the food was completely inedible - The Newyorker sandwich was so fatty that I couldn't even eat it, I had to try re-cooking it in the oven.. really dissatisfied and disappointed, especially for the price $$$. It's been a long while since I've written a review. I got take out from here a couple weeks ago. I got a BLT with cheddar cheese, lite mayo on rye. It came with a pickle and a side of cole slaw. Slaw was a bit bland for my taste. I like more vinegar-y/tangy type slaw. This was more mayonaisey. I ate the sandwich in my car and I shit you not, I almost cried it was so good (I actually texted 2 friends to tell them I was feeling strong emotions towards my lunch). I'm pregnant. I get emotional about food. Stop giving me the side-eye!! I have also been completely disgusted by any type meat lately, and the bacon on here rocked. I work right around the corner and I'll definitely be back! read more

Yes, the selection of sandwiches is vast and the amount of meat served is decidedly generous. If that's all you seek in a deli, then this fits the bill. But I am simply underwhelmed by the lack of "character" of the sandwiches. They don't have any house sauces to bring out the unique flavors of the meat, or creative sides to compliment the flavor. I think the place can certainly do more to up its game in offering high-quality and distinctive sandwiches. For now, the sandwiches will satisfy the hunger, but not my taste buds. And I don't particularly like the feeling of leaving a restaurant full, but unsatisfied and craving something else. read more

Zaftig's is new in the Metrowest Boston area. The original restaurant is well known. We came in on Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. The place was tapering off from the brunch crowd. The have a bar stool dining area as well as regular sit down tables. First of all, the place is new. Our server looked to be a typical seasonal summer employee (teen) and was learning the ropes. She was a bit slow and inefficient, but overall friendly and learning how things go. They give you bagel chips with dip when you sit down. We ordered the Loaded Latkes with smoked salmon, dill sour cream and trout roe. Delicious. Flavors go very well together and the potato pancake was surprisingly light. We also got the New Yorker sandwich that turned out to be lunch and after dinner snack. It was huge. A great combo of hot pastrami and corned beef on rye with a side dish of assorted pickles. The meat was flavored so well, tender and juicy. Add some coarse mustard and it's an all time favorite sandwich. Meals were not cheap by any means. The New Yorker sandwich was a whopping $16 bucks. But it turned into two meals for me. Our combined bill for two people was $30+. We'll definitely go back to try the other items on the menu. I just hope service improves with time. read more

Although I desperately miss Joan & Ed's, Zaftig's is a fitting replacement. My office gets catering from them often - their wraps and salads are so fresh. It's nice to have something different in the area. The Israeli couscous salad is bonkers good. So good, I've tried making it at home (no dice). They are not the cheapest eats in the area, but when you're sick of the Qdobas and Bertuccis of the world, this is a great option. read more

I have been here a few times and like it. Call ahead if you're going on a weekend. They have excellent homemade hash. Their home fries are superb. The challah french toast is delightful. I only interacted with the deli/bakery part of this restaurant, and not the actual restaurant so I can't say how good or bad eating there is as an experience. The place was fairly busy when I was there so it looks like they have a steady stream of eat-in customers. The selection in the deli of prepared meals and soups was excellent. I saw several items that I wanted to try, and decided on three things. (I could have easily bought more!). The home-made potato salad was to die for; hands down, the best that I've ever had. The other food items were okay, nothing spectacular. I wasn't impressed at all with the rugulah. The soup was also not that great; add to that the fact that it was like an ice chunk and I had to wait days for it to thaw and then sadly discovered it was very onion heavy- not something I'd purchase again. They had enough to choose from though that I could go back and buy some other items, and if I'm in the area, I'd definitely do that. My big problem was the price. Five items should not come to over $40 when it's soup and smaller items. While the soup and rugulah were clearly marked, the other items had a "guess how much we charge" type of feel to them. And, they charged a lot more than I would have guessed! If I buy something again, it'll be 2 items and that's it. I did, however, look at the menu and many of their entrees were very reasonably priced. I may just go back to try the restaurant. I recommend checking the store out, but be aware that things in the take-out section are very pricey! read more

Once you get past the fact that this location is in a Natick stripmall and you get past the t-shirts with all the stupid sayings that all the staff wears, you'll find one of the best breakfast spots in MetroWest. What makes it the best? - Call ahead seating - this is huge for such a popular place. No waiting around for over an hour with a buzzer in your hand as your stomach growls - Gluten free menu that includes gluten free toast and bagels. (Note one of the gluten free breads is labeled as "wheat", but it is in fact gluten free) - Breakfast served all day. You want an omelet for dinner? No problem - Iced tea served with a separate carafe so you don't have to keep asking for refills - Takeout counter with some delicious looking cupcakes and other treats Zaftigs gets a lot of the little things right, and with so many options for brunch and breakfast it's these little things that make all the difference. read more

Was told in 2006 to come here, it's now 2012 and I just went. Can you see a pattern from my reivews? Anyways, easy to get to location, parking on the street has been fairly easy the few times I've been in this area. The service was great, prompt and never had to ask for anything! THe food was excellent, everything I was hoping for and more! If you have a large appetite, then bring it to Zaftig's. So I got the knishes, I really enjoyed the meat ones. I also got the Lupo which is two latkes and a heaping pile of brisket served with veggie gravy and a side. I got the potato salad which was yummy and everything was darn leckkerrrrrr! read more

A Non-kosher Jewish-style Deli! Zaftig's has several locations and this particular location came about when Joan and Ed retired and closed their deli down. Since I keep kosher, I would always prefer Rubin's Deli over Zaftigs; however, Zaftig's does very well for vegetarian options. They have a large menu and provide bagel chips. We were there as a large group of about 15 people. They were very accommodating in handling a group of our size. The service time did not suffer for it either. read more

Best breakfast ever - or at least in a very long time. We had the chocolate French Toast with strawberries, the Blueberry Pancakes and the Empire Eggs (Two poached eggs, spinach, smoked salmon on potato pancakes, Hollandaise). Everything was GREAT! The ingredients were very fresh and exceptional. The chocolate French Toast was cooked perfectly and not too chocolate. The blueberry pancakes had just enough blueberries, but were not purple. They were heavy and dense perfection. But, the Empire Eggs were the stuff that dreams are made of. The Ladke was crispy and perfect, the eggs were poached beautifully, the spinach was fresh and green. It's all I can do not to drive over there right now. read more

I've had two differing experiences here. One was great, the other a letdown. I had their turkey wrap the first time which was phenomenal. The perfect blend of flavors and their potato salad was to die for. The second, however, which I was more excited about, was sad. I ordered their thanksgiving sandwich. It was basically a build your own sandwich. Just a plop of mashed potato on slices of turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce on the side. The bread was too flimsy to hold all this after I tried to put it together. I was pretty disappointed since I was really craving a thanksgiving sandwich. Granted these were both take out experiences so the actual sit down version may differ, but for me I would steer clear of the thanksgiving sandwich next time. read more

Normally I would rate this place high, but today was a one star day. My boyfriend and I put our names in for a table and expected to wait, as we did. We offered to sit at the counter if anything opened up. The host said, ok it'll be a 10 to 15 minute wait. As we waited we saw 2 men walk in and put their names in for a table. Shortly after, a different hostess went over and told them there were seats at the counter available. We quickly went over and said that we were here before them and she said the counter was first come, first serve, so basically too bad. We walked out highly dissapointed. I went there about 2 or 3 Friday's ago when my wife took my daughter to get a haircut in this same plaza it was just before 7:00 at night and they were already closed which was very disappointing to me. Since I could not go there I decided on another place within walking distance. A few days later I decided to drive at lunch time to get takeout of Lean Corn Beef on a bulky roll light on the mustard it came with a dill pickle and my side that I chose was cole slaw. The Sandwich was plentiful and the dill pickle was perfect in my opinion. The Cole Slaw could have used less Mayo. I know some that make it with only vinegar and it is delicious without so much Mayo in the mixture. The reason I give 3 Stars is it said closed at 7:00 on Friday's and it was closed before. Also the consistency of the Coleslaw was too much Mayo in it. If don't know already they are Kosher "Style" that does not bother me. I would think on a Friday as it is truly not Kosher they would stay open until at least 8:00 and not be closed prior than what is listed. I'm guessing they wanted to shut off cooking utensils. Honestly this is great but they should stand by their ours listed and not close earlier. I have been there numerous times and suggest trying their breakfast you get a ton. Also on this past visit it cost $16.00 I expected it to be maybe including tax more in the $14.00 range but I was not going to complain I did get a decent meal. read more

We have enjoyed Zaftig's in Brookline in the past, but though we enjoyed it, thought the wait on weekends for Brunch were not worth it..... and we were thrilled to have the location open up in Natick-- until we experienced it today. We found the service to be horrible from start to finish-- starting with the host- who did not listen to our seating preferences, to our waiters who got our order incorrect three times (though they make all their errors with a polite smile)- the food was inferior and BAD compared to the Brookline location by far (specific example were the latkes that we had 4 days apart so our memory was fresh...) . We will not plan to return to this location. read more

A die hard J&M fan, we decided to venture out try somewhere new. We got in just at the right time. There was one open table for 2, so no wait. Nice! (When we left the waiting area was full, probably 20 people waiting!) We ordered our drinks quickly. The server didn't bring my husband any cream for his coffee. But he drank it anyway. We ordered our food, I love eggs Benedict, and it's my go to breakfast item. Served with home fries and a fruit side was the complete meal. So far so good. The lemonade was quite sour, not bad, just a warning that it is very strong- incase you are expecting a sweet lemonade! I liked it though. The food came, and this is where it kind of went blah. I tried the home fries first. They were big, but honestly they just tasted like a baked potato. Not the expected yummy home fries flavor! The fruit side was a joke. It was a wedge of orange (smaller than the lemon wedge garnishing my lemonade) and an even smaller slice of melon. That's it..?! It was comical that they called that a side. But I still had my Benny to look forward to! First bite was interesting. I didn't get the lemony taste from the hollandaise I was hoping for. I tried it alone. Nothing. It tasted like nothing... The first egg yolk was solid inside. Bummer. The second egg was properly poached, nice and runny. Same for my husband's- one hard, one runny. Bummer. Overall it was just kind of plain. If the meal cost $8 I'd consider going back for a cheap breakfast and save a few bucks over J&M.. But for $14, not a chance. For the same price J&M blows this place out of the water! read more

Wow... used to be a good spot. Oh, that was the previous owners of the previous restaurant, and they have retired. This place doesn't know corned beef from German baloney. Their corned beef on a roll comes half full. Yup, you eat bread with nothing between it on much of the roll. The corned beef tastes like its passed its sell date. Having spent a lot of time in New York City I love the jewish deli's and this place rates with the best of them. A wide menu-- too big if you ask me, but you can't not find something new every time you come. This place offers great deserts and pastry--so stop by the takeout counter on your way out. Great place for brunch! Service is nice and friendly. Price is reasonable. Pastrami scramble a must try. French toast was awesome, it was perfectly moist. San Franscisco Joe's Special was also great. My husband and I went in this morning. Normally will have our own plates because we love breakfast food, but this morning couldn't decide on one plate so we asked for the San Fran Joe's Special and French Toast planning to share. The kitchen staff was nice enough to split the plate for us so we didn't have to try and do it ourselves at the table. This has become our new favorite brunch place. read more

The food is great and the wait staff is really sweet and attentive. so why only 2 stars? The space is insanely cramped and the hostess sat 2 adults and a toddler at a table for 2 people. Plus she put us in a table that was behind the coffee station. The staff was constantly bumping in to us and my son was so overwhelmed at the people coming so close to him with cups and coffee pots. Good food and decent service. Long wait for a Sunday late morning, but that's expected for any breakfast place on a weekend. My mom and I sat at the bar to skip the long wait, but the bartender was kind of standoffish and wasn't very attentive to the guests sitting along the bar. Yum yum yum. Nestled into Sherwood plaza is this gem. A traditional American Jewish deli. The brisket and corned beef are delicious and the matzo ball soup will cure any cold, although slightly bland. This place has lines out the door on weekends so be prepared to wait. Getting back on the ol' Yelp review horse, another solid option in Natick/Framingham. It's tough for locals in the area as everything is near/in the mall. I never got hit the Brookline location as the line was always ridonkulous, but I love the Natick location. This place was great. I've been to Zaftig's in Brookline before, for weekend brunch, and it is always PACKED. This place was not nearly as crowded (granted, it was 2 pm on a Thursday). But, the food was just as good. We got the loaded latkes for an appetizer. It was a small portion, but FILLING. And delicious - not too greasy, despite the fact that there is cheese, bacon bits, sauce, the works. For entrees most people got breakfast food. The omelettes were delicious, and the potatoes were good - more like roasted potatoes than the gross greasy little bits of potato that some places serve. The fillings were substantial - which is great, some places say veggie omelette and you get like one piece of onion and a bit of tomato. These were legit. The salads were also delicious. I wish there was time to try more food! They also serve bagel chips as a free snack at the beginning with a yummy dip. Overall, EXTENSIVE menu with very reasonable prices. The options will satisfy anyone and everyone in your party. The food is good, and OH I forgot about the service - they came back several times to check how we were doing and refill our waters.
