I've been lucky enough to have had great care at UCLA for screening and risk reduction. Once I was done having and being able to breastfeed my children, my first priority was a prophylactic double mastectomy to make sure I was reducing my risk to ensure I could be around for my kiddos. That was a no brainer. The harder choice? What type of reconstruction (or any at all) to have that fit my life. Enter Dr Slack. We had SO many conversations about the pros and cons of each options, how many procedures each would entail, and so much more. I am so so grateful I found Dr. Slack to be a true partner throughout this whole process. In the end I opted for a DIEP flap, where tissue from my stomach was used to reconstruct breasts, which included quite complex blood vessel attachment and subsequent revision to ensure the shape was natural. I cannot say enough great things about how happy I am to have natural tissue (my weight fluctuates and I have concerns about foreign substances in my body). My kids snuggle me and I am able to feel comfortable in my body. In the process I ended up with a bit of a mommy makeover where my belly skin was improved post pregnancy. I'm now almost two years post-op and am able to retain sensation and have continued losing weight and my body adjusts normally. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Slack's incredible surgical skills, bedside manner, follow up and more. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Slack for giving me the body and confidence I have today.

But the staff at Cassileth and Dr Killeen were truly wonderful and made the journey much better than I imagined. Dr Killeen did my breast reconstruction and I am very pleased with the results. For me a DTI mastectomy made sense. It's not every woman's choice. I was very nervous about every aspect of surgery. I don't know if I'm the only woman but the plastics portion of breast cancer is a bit of an afterthought when you are worried about cancer. I would be asked questions about my new breasts and I was like a deer in headlights. All I knew was that I wanted what I had. I had no idea how to answer their questions. I did not go in for an augmentation. I never thought of this scenario and lacked all imagination in the moment. It was overwhelming because all I could think about was my pathology post- surgery. Dr Killeen and her team are experienced and seemed to know what I was going through and how I was feeling. She listened to what I could muster up and she delivered. Funny the morning of surgery really stands out. She just walked in talking to me like it was a normal day. It was for her. This is what she does and I can't thank her enough. The results- because after it's all over-- we are left changed in many ways. In some ways you can't see the differences and some you can see. I got a rhinoplasty with omar hussain on January 24, 2025 and since then has been communicating with the team to let them know my nose is ruined. Omar for months said it was just due to swelling and that I would get better. However at my 6 month post op appointment, omar then said he would need to do a second rhinoplasty operation on me to fix the many issues he created in the first rhinoplasty. Don't trust this place, they don't have empathy and are unethical.

However, not once did he offer to fix my breast that his surgery caused to bottom out, and which he had twice promised to fix. His interest is his money, nothing else. Therefore I have refused to remove my review. To readers who have not seen my previous review - He abandoned me when a probe developed with my breast surgery. He gave no explanations and was exceptionally rude and dismissive. His asking me to remove my review without offering to address the problem shows how his only interest was for how others see him. This is not a well-balanced man who is concerned for others. He cannot handle a problem with composure or grace. He will turn on the patient if there is a problem, rather than help the patient. At a time when you have trusted him with your body, this treatment is devastating. Your pain makes no difference to him. He is only nice to you when all goes well. Had I not been so disheartened and depressed at the time by my experience with him, I would have brought a malpractice claim. If anyone is considering such a course of action, contact me.
