Everything here is better with their garlic sauce The Half Chicken lunch plate with 2 sides (hummus and cucumber salad) over basmati rice is my go to, with an extra garlic sauce. Their chicken is so moist, tender and juicy. Sorry, by the time I remembered to take a picture, I was almost done with my plate. That said, I just took screenshots from their menu of what I recommend. I also ordered takeout for the first time of their Tri-Tip Shawerma bowl. It was good but I am sure it would have been much better eating it fresh. Parking can be an issue depending on what time you come. This place gets packed. read more

For many years, I lived next to the West LA Zankou and it was incredible. Amazing portions for the price and delicious food. Everything fresh, always five stars. I was visiting a client on this particular day and was looking around for somewhere to grab a quick lunch. I was very happy when I came across the Zankou sign in Long Beach. Easy parking. I ordered a bowl. I didn't want anything big or crazy and ate it on their patio. The bowl was objectively 80% rice, a little bit of chicken and my sides were hummus and tabouli. There was maybe a tablespoon of chicken. It was really disappointing. I ate everything except most of the rice. I don't know if this was a unique experience for this location or if things across-the-board have changed in the Zankou restaurant world, but this was not the experience I was used to. No Bueno. They're charging more for the wraps here than the LA location minus the fries and drink??? Then I'm driving to get fries somewhere else and realize the sauce I paid for wasn't in my bag. Had to speed back so I could run in there to grab the stuff they failed to put in my bag just to be met with senseless hostility and then the heavier set woman working the closing shift gave me one measly sauce for 3 wraps....??? I asked for more just for her to essentially toss it at me. I'm not sure what her problem was considering I drove all the way back just to get something I paid for. So I went here five years ago when they first opened up in Long Beach and I was happy about it and enjoyed what I got for the most part but thought to myself. I've had better in this class and type of food so I went back another time and decided no way I can get better elsewhere for the price. I am giving a bad review to this store due to my experience with Uber Eats and your store. They placed the order with your location instead of the one closest to me at my work and when I saw it I canceled right away. Yet they still charged me for the order as your store apparently accepted it in the 2 seconds from when I placed it. The crazy thing about Zankou is just how great all the sauces and sides are. I had hummus, tzatziki sauce and a cucumber salad this time, and they were all the best I have ever had (again). Just top notch recipes all the way around. I would come back just to order some sides of the sauces. I don't know if it was because it was the end of the day or the person just overcooked the meat, but the ground meat skewers in a Persian restaurant are flavorful and juicy. The hummus was absolutely delicious and the tzatziki had a weird flavor to it.
