I placed an order thru the app to pickup. I walked in and waited for my order standing right in front of the pickup area. I saw them prepare and package my order but no name was called so I didn't think k it was mine. I eventually went up and inquired and it was my order. They just never called out my name. That's so annoying. The food was great and plenty of indoor seating as well. The bread is pre packaged as well which is sort of strange.

I have been a fan of Zankou chicken for decades. Literally at least 2 decades. I was excited that one opened in LB since i head that way for work at times. Its been awhile since I had it as it's usually not any around me. I realized the flavor is a bit different from the Pasadena location where I had my first zankou visit decades ago. I also know there's inflation but man, did it inflate! Generally, not bad for a quick craving fix but not my favorite location in terms on flavor. Not as consistent to other locations I have tried. Will still come back if craving it though. However probably not as much if they don't clean the veggies. As I found the "made in mexico sticker" still left on a piece of tomato in my very costly cucumber salad. A bit disappointed by that and wondering how well they clean the raw veggies. Other than that, I will say their service has always been great but the parking is small and always gets super packed.

My first time trying it I pass by it so often Portion size is huge and they also have rotisserie chicken. It was a bit salty for me. A lot of food for the price. I ordered me a large tub of hummus to take home also. Seems my favorite food choice lately is Mediterranean food. Will come back try other items. The workers were nice.

    Chicken tarna bowl

It was my first time visiting Zankou Chicken at this location, and it was such a great experience. The restaurant was clean, though pretty packed for a Thursday night. I came in to redeem my birthday reward, which was a free bowl and went with the chicken tarna bowl, half rice and half lettuce. I'm really glad I tried it this way because the lettuce is actually more of a Greek salad, which added a lot more flavor and texture to the dish. The chicken tarna itself was flavorful with a nice char, which I loved, though it was a bit on the dry side. I topped it with tzatziki and cucumber salad, and chose garlic sauce and tahini on the side. Everything paired really well together and made the dish really tasty. Customer service stood out here. I ordered online, and since they were running behind during the dinner rush, they offered me a free drink and pita chips without me even asking. That kind of gesture goes a long way. Overall, I had a great first visit. I'd come back again.

Great food and excellent service! The staff member was very patient as we decided our food and side orders. Then we totally forgot to order drinks! She took good care of us! I have ordered the chicken (1/2 or 1/4) but not the Shawarma plates. We ordered a Tri-Tip and a Chicken plate. Fresh, warm pitas with that garlic sauce, so good! Side salads are great! Portions are generous! We dined in vs our usual.take out. Plenty of seating if you choose to dine in. We went early so parking was not an issue. It can be a bit challenging as it shares a lot with another fast food restaurant.

Placed an order online for me to pickup after work for my son and I to share for dinner. Went in around 6:20pm on a Tuesday, and it was busy but not too busy. I don't have a picture of the bag with the label of my order, but everything was checked off. Did not get the harissa, tahini or utensils, so that was annoying to find out once I got home. Everything tasted good when I got home though, so it wasn't too bad. Definitely a good amount for the double portion of shawerma.

One more pick up at Zankou Chicken. I placed my order on the app. I arrived and everything was ready. Tasty food that hits the spot, lively atmosphere, everyone is always so friendly. I've been eating at Zankou Chicken since the 90s. I don't think I've ever had a poor experience and I don't think I ever will. I Highly recommend it.

After driving by this place several times I finally gave it a shot. Super simple and clean layout, staff is on point and service is excellent. The shawarma was so good I was upset when I got to the last bite. Cucumber salad was tasty and refreshing. Honestly I don't have any complaints and will be back again.

The line to order was nearly to the door. The line was moving fast until a Karen-like character stormed to the front and cut us all off. She was complaining about something she didn't like about her order and demanded that her bowl be remade. The workers were very respectful and immediately started remaking her food. This was annoying for me and everyone else that had been waiting but the employees handled it well. I ordered the new Glazed Salmon as my protein and it was so delicious. It has a beautiful glaze and crust with a soft interior that really impressed me for it being a fast-casual restaurant. The add-ons to the bowls were great and paired well with the flavors of the salmon. I felt like my bowl was a little skimped out on though - it felt a little empty for the price. I will be craving this until we get a NorCal location!

That first experience is what made me come back. On my second visit, I ordered the same salad with chicken and lamb because I wanted that same experience again. When I got back to work, I realized the chicken was missing. I did not complain because I still had the lamb and the rest of the salad, and I understand that mistakes happen. Still, it was disappointing because I specifically came back wanting the same complete meal I had the first time. On my third visit, I drove from Gardena to Signal Hill specifically for that salad. After driving back to Gardena, I realized there was no dressing in the bag. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. I was told, "I'm sorry." At first I accepted that, but then I thought, what am I supposed to do with a salad with no dressing? I called back because I wanted to know what could be done. I was told that if I wanted my money back, I would have to bring the salad back to the restaurant. That meant after already driving from Gardena to Signal Hill and back, I was expected to make another trip because of something the restaurant forgot. When I explained that I was disappointed with how the situation was being handled and that I planned to leave a review, the woman on the phone responded, "All this for a dressing?" That comment bothered me more than the original mistake. Yes, it was dressing, but that misses the point. This was already the second time something had been left out of my order. The first time, I let it go. This time, the missing item affected the whole meal. What I would have appreciated was simple customer service. Acknowledge the inconvenience and make an effort to keep the customer. Something as simple as, "We apologize. Unfortunately, we cannot refund you without the food being returned, but on your next visit we will make sure we take care of you," would have completely changed the experience. Even offering a drink next time or simply saying they appreciated my business would have shown that they cared. I also tipped on my takeout order because I believe a tip is a way of showing appreciation for good service and attention to detail. I understand that a tip does not guarantee perfection, but it was disappointing to tip and still receive an incomplete order. There was also something I observed during this visit that concerned me. Someone spilled a drink, and one of the cooks helped clean it up. He wiped the floor while wearing gloves and, from what I could see, appeared to keep the same gloves on when returning to food preparation. That made me uncomfortable. I would have expected the gloves to be changed before handling food again. To be fair, the restaurant itself looks clean, organized, and well maintained. The tables, chairs, counters, and furniture appear to be in good condition. That is one of the reasons I kept giving this place another chance. I wanted to like Pita Pitaki. After my first visit, I thought it might become one of my go to places. Unfortunately, I never really got that same full experience again. My first visit was good. My second visit was missing the chicken. My third visit was missing the dressing, followed by customer service that made me feel like my concern did not matter. You can have good food and a clean restaurant, but customer service still matters. Sometimes how a business handles a mistake matters more than the mistake itself. My advice for anyone ordering takeout here is simple. Double check your order before you leave. Open the bag and make sure you have everything, especially meats, sauces, and dressing. Unfortunately, after giving this place several chances, it is no longer one of my go to spots.

The space looked clean and simple, nothing fancy but comfortable enough. The employee working there was very friendly. He came out from the back, answered my questions, and recommended the chicken pesto panini, saying it's their most popular item. I also added a Caesar salad for $2.99, which I thought was a fair price, and decided to try the bread pudding as well. The panini itself was pretty good. The bread was nicely toasted, the cheese was melted well, and the pesto had good flavor. The only downside for me was the chicken -- it seemed like it might have been boiled and then mixed with pesto. It was a bit tougher than I would have liked. The Caesar salad was decent for the price. Unfortunately, the bread pudding didn't work for me. It was very dense and almost brick-like. Overall, the value is there and the staff was very nice. For me personally, the food felt a bit average. I tend to prefer paying a little more for higher quality rather than saving a few dollars on something that doesn't quite hit the mark. Because of that, I probably wouldn't go back, but others might appreciate the price point and friendly service. Food 3 stars. Staff 5 average 4

They had sports playing on the TVs and the interior is pretty small. It's more of a casual vibe good for a chill night out. It kinda feels like a place where you order at the front and get takeout, but they have someone who will wait on your table if you choose to dine in. I came with a vegetarian friend and we had a fun time sampling the different taco meats and rating each. Here is my ranking: 1. Asada - I hate to be basic, but this was good for what it was. It tasted like they might have used mushroom meat, but this takes place as #1 for me because I think it could be a general crowd pleaser for any non-vegetarian. On the contrary, my vegetarian friend did not like it because she found it too dry. 2. Barbacoa - A very, very close second. The only reason it places behind asada is because asada is a classic. Barbacoa has good texture and I could eat a lot of these too. 3. Chorizo - This was the closest to tasting like its actual counterpart. I could eat a bunch of chorizo. Crumbly meat with lots of flavor. 4. Tinga - I'm not as familiar with tinga meat, but the pickled red onion that went with this taco gave it a savory taste. Good to try out but you're not missing out if you choose other flavors. 5. Chicken - Tasted like tofu meat? Not bad - I don't usually pick chicken for taco meat so this might be a personal preference choice. 6. Pastor - Sweet, but did not taste like pastor. Had a little trouble distinguishing between the pastor and the tinga at first, but came to the conclusion the pastor was the one with pineapple on it. I mostly prefer savory meats and while I don't mind the pineapple, the pastor I usually have is not sweet itself. If you like sweet meats, this might be worth getting. 7. Potato - Everybody can skip the potato. It's a fried potato taco, but the potato they use resembles a breakfast hash. The crispiness is nice, but the texture is flaky and the sauce doesn't save it. Even my vegetarian friend was let down by this one even though she had high hopes and usually likes potato tacos. Overall the server told us most of the taco meats were soybean based (not the pastor). I think the chorizo might be falafel, but that's a guess? Ended our meal with the Tres Leches as a dessert. Frosting is buttery and sweet (maybe a little too much frosting) but the cake goes super well with the milk. It sits in a soy milk bath which is a first for me. I wish they had added more soy milk! The menu is huge though. I was very tempted to try other stuff on the menu so I am very open to coming back and trying the breakfast platter (or getting more tacos again, yum).

I have been to all of the other Grain Cafes except for this one! But I recently found myself in…read moreLong Beach and hungry for some food, and this restaurant came up in my area. I ordered ahead as I was in a bit of a rush and thankfully they were very quick at preparing my food! They also didn't compromise on the quality in doing so! I managed to find a spot on the adjacent side street and was greeted as soon as I entered. The ambiance of the restaurant was bright and colorful with plenty of cozy seating both inside and outside. They also had a pastry case filled with some drool worthy cakes. The friendly employee quickly found my order. The menu was vast but I ordered an indulgent chocolate crepe, as I was craving something sweet and light. The crepe had a lovely pillowy texture and was so heavenly, both the chocolate sauce and chocolate mousse were so rich and decadent and had me wanting more! I loved the freshness, sweetness and juiciness of the berries! The coconut whipped cream really took it over the top and added a nice airiness. Their crepes are must haves and I'm dying to try more of them! I will definitely be back soon to this location or one of their other conveniently located ones!
