This was a nice place to stop in my way to Long Beach airport. The interior is an elongated room with around 10-12 tables and some patio dining out back. The dishes are mainly listed with their American names, but it wasn't hard to spot what I was after: Pad Kra Pao named "Bangkok Sidewalk Favorite" here. They were out of Prik Nam Pla, but I talked the kitchen into making a fresh batch. The servers were largely distracted by their phones, but occasionally came by to check on me. The portions were huge! And I walked away quite full! The Tom Kha Gai soup was packed with flavors and lots of quality ingredients. Well, this was a great find. My wife and I are down here helping with our daughter's wedding preparations. It has been a long day and we were all hungry. I was hesitant to go over the guy because it's such a popular dish restaurants not getting it right it's just very fresh very flavorful plenty of shrimp.. our future son-in-law ordered the drunken noodles with beef. It was very good and the beef was very tender. Our younger daughter ordered the pad see ew, she loved it. My wife got the garlic noodles for shrimp. While the food wasn't necessarily anything to write home about, the spice levels were definitely outstanding compared to other Thai establishments. I personally love anything and everything spicy, so I was able to overlook the dry pad see ew and the overall bland flavor of the fried rice because the spiciness of the food was right on par with my preferred spice level. Made an order from Doordash and was able to order several items that were BOGO. Ordered everything "spicy" and it had nice balance in flavor between spicy, sour, savory, and sweet. Ordered tom yum soup and I liked that they didn't shy from sour or spicy flavors. Ordered Grilled Pork Nam Tok salad and I liked that the portion of pork was generous. While prices of entrees are around $20, portion sizes are fairly reasonable. Wouldn't really recommend "Crispy spring rolls" as they're just vegetable egg rolls that you can get any pan-asian spot. I enjoyed my beef yellow curry as the beef was tender, the spice was balanced, and I liked the portion size. Chicken and pork were on the dry side in my soup and thai salad (nam tok); however, I did like the balanced flavor of the herbs, lime, and fish sauce in the nam tok. Not sure what I expected when we walked in to Thai Street Eats. Sat down and found it interesting that they actually have a happy hour still going on a Sunday night. We decided to go with some crispy dumplings that was entirely reminiscent of the frozen bagged versions from 99 Ranch market not too far away. Disappointing to say the least. I went with the Chicken Pad Thai, which I perhaps ignorantly feel defines a Thai restaurant. Overall it had all of the elements to a good pad thai. The noodles were well cooked with a nice chew to it and the sauce was not overly "peanuty". Touch on the sweet side but what flavor there was, it was not terrible. In my opinion, where this dish lacks is depth, almost like everything was just combined at the last minute and served. This sentiment carries over to the Panang Curry that we also had. The chicken within was over cooked and just lacked any seasoning or flavor. The service was really great. Cordial and pleasant we were asked if we were okay several times and checked up on. We were fine, just disappointed. A three star to me means I won't be back but if they were at an event or some sampling place I would give them another taste. read more

We ordered delivery and the overall consensus was that the food was just "meh". Chicken fried rice was typical and nothing spectacular. Beef salad was missing the toasted rice that we usually think of when it comes to Thai beef salad. It was neither sour, nor salty, nor spicy (we ordered medium and was expecting some heat from Thai peppers and got 0). The beef was also well done when it should have been medium/medium rare. Beef pad sew ew was bland and lacking that sweet soy flavor. Chicken tom kah was surprisingly sweet and not in a good way. It had all the right ingredients (lemongrass, kaffir, galangal) but somehow none of those aromatics came through in the broth. Went inside and was greeted and seated. The host and Waitresses vibes were positive. They were enjoying themselves while working, something I rarely see these days.
