It's worth the price!! Delicious Lebanese food and quick service. Wish there were more locationsread more

We were excited to check out Pickles & Peas (one of a handful of food trucks at the Clockshop Kite…read moreFestival) & purposely did not pack any lunch items to try them out. I gave them an extra 1/2 star up for a total 4 stars because of the friendly service and fresh food. The good: Service was friendly. Food was served to order and fresh. The meh: Portions were ok- just enough for 1 person and definitely not enough to share. Entrees were not overly packed with meat and could be heartier. Chicken shawarma press (8/10): Arrived hot and crisp on outside. Skinny pressed wrap. My daughter liked it and perfect amount for her. Steak Frites pita wrap (7.5/10): my hubby thought there was so much sauce that it drowned out the ingredients. Wished there was more meat. Loaded fries bowl (6.5/10): Not a huge bowl of food but just enough. Fries are freshly cut/made but if you're expecting crispy/crunchy pommes frites type of fries, these are not it. I chose beef shawarma as my protein and the cut of the shawarma was not long, thin shaved shawarma. It was like beef shawarma bits/meat dust (Lol!). Again, sauce (tahini?) was smothered over the top so it was unbalanced with too much sauce, not enough meat and oily (not crispy) fries on the bottom. The bad: The prices were quite high for what you get! For example, the loaded fries bowl was $22! All 3 of our meals with a side of fries (& added tip) was close to $80! I like to support food trucks and small businesses but P&P might not be worth it for the amount you get.

Why is this truck so anonymous? It has been on the road for over a year, yet I am the first to…read morereview it?. While that's a little surprising and perhaps could be taken as an ominous signl I had a nice tasty lamb wrap from this truck yesterday. I got to the Foot truck ghetto in Santa Monica a little after 2:00 p.m. and some of the trucks were already shutting down. Thought the Cairo Cowboy was too; in fact they were already sold out of beef, and chicken. But they did have lamb, so I ordered a lamb pita. It was like shawerma, but the meat seemed to have been cut rather than shaved. that was OK by me, as it was tasty, grilled and the wrap had fresh veggies too. Nothing earth-shaking, but it was a nice solid wrap. I felt it could have used some tzatziki sauce too, but I am not gonna downgrade them for that, as I should have just asked for some. つº oº つ RAISE YOUR CUTLERY つº oº つ…read more This truck is sorta weird. But not in an endearing, sort of I-wanna-tell-my-friends-about-this kind of way. It's Mediterranean, so the Cairo part makes sense. But Cowboy? I don't see anything about this truck that has to do with cowboys or America or the Wild West or what (they do have a pizza on the menu, but that's not good enough). Maybe I'm asking for too much, but I think every food truck should have a clear theme, and the title should reflect that. I'm in line scratching my head over what the name means when I should be perusing their mediocre menu. So I got the gyro. I gotta couple things to say about this. You know what was in it? I'm gonna list the basic ingredients in order. Pretend it's Christmas, and the list goes from "YEAH I GOT AN XBOX", to "yay, more socks... : /". 1. Chicken (Cool, off to a good start) 2. Pita enclosure thing (Yay) 3. Tzatziki sauce (Awesome, on a roll) 4. Red bell pepper (Ehhhhh ok....) 5. Zucchini (???!?!??!) Did it taste bad? No. Was I really confused/disappointed? Yeah. Where are the tomatoes????! Where are the cucumbers!?!?! No white onion???? This is the strangest gyro I've ever had. I don't want to eat another one. No tomatoes, seriously. The only saving grace was that they piled on the chicken like they were going out of business. Very generous portion of that, right on. But man, no good, Cairo Cowboy. You know what, I changed my mind. It's edible, but I didn't like it. I was hungry. Keep your damn zucchini out of my gyro. Happy Eating! - The Gourmand League
