    #17 gyro meat
    Denny T.

I started working in the area and decided to hit up this food court for lunch. Pretty cool place, they have places that sell salads, poke, Thai food, seafood, burgers, and a Mexican fusion place. I decided to try this place as it looked a little lighter and healthier than the other options. I got the #17 gyro meat pita wrap. It was decent, the meat and the pita were tasty, but the cucumber sauce was pretty bland. I wish they also had some more fresh veggies on there instead of just the few pieces of tomato. Came with either salad or spicy potatoes. I got the potatoes, nothing too special about them. Pretty big menu, lots of stuff to order and the portion size and price aren't too bad. They had a huge order from a nearby business, but my order still came out pretty quickly. It was a good meal, i might come back and try some of the other stuff on the menu.

This is my go to place to grab a quick lunch. Infact i sometimes walk to the place from work. This is probably the first place where i am impressed with the team that serves along with the food. The lady on the counter is beyond awesome no matter how busy they are she is quick and smiling all the time. This review is for her more than the food. I always get the greek salad and its always exactly the same fresh and crispy.

If you ever City of Commerce and a fan of Middle Eastern, you must try this place. Gyro and chicken kabob top shelf level at a fair price. And excellent rice to anchor the meal.

Not sure what happened here but the quality is down the drain here. This used to be our go to place for work lunches. This is their kaftan plate combo. As you can see the meat is still raw! Texture is horrible almost like stretchy sausage with tendons bits on it, hard as a rock. Burnt on top raw in the middle. Hummus is from a can, rice is dry. It used to be good years ago. Gotta be careful not making other people sick as it made me that day

This is the chicken kabob plate, these potatoes are so tasty and their green sauce yummy...they have other kabob plates that are so deliciou

The Food, is so good I highly recommend and the customer service is awesome I like this place for lunch.

Sauteed mixed veggies on top of lettuce with chicken kabob

I got this salad that was pretty much sauteed mixed vegetables (zucchini, tomatoes, corn, onions) on top of a lettuce, topped with feta cheese and chicken kabob. Portion was HUGE. I was very happy because I was feeding my body a lot of vegetables. Chicken was tasty and tender. Idk why people don't give this place more than 3 stars!

Having been a massive fan of the Green Olive location on Vermont for years now, I was thrilled to find one 4 minutes away from my worksite in Commerece. When I arrived, I was a little concerned when I discovered that it was just a tiny counter in a food-court, but gave it a try anyhow. I ordered a kebab plate and noticed the food was bland and nowhere near as flavorful as the Vermont location. I came back a week later to give it another try, this time ordering a wrap and their ever-so famous spicy potatoes. Was super disappointed when I got the potatoes: they were soggy, mushy and discolored. Not even remotely close to the flavors, texture of the other Green Olive locations. Tasted like it was reheated from a batch made days before. I definitely won't be back to this location.

Chicken Kebob plate with steak and koobideh. Hummus and Salad. Excelkent.

I made an OpenTable reservation about 10-15 minutes before arriving, and I'm glad I did because there was already a short line when we got there. There's valet parking for $13 for smaller cars/SUVs and $20 for larger trucks, plus tip, so definitely factor that into the meal cost. Street parking looked pretty difficult, so we were happy to just hand over the keys and not worry about it. Even with a reservation, we waited about 10 minutes. The restaurant is beautiful, and as you walk toward the dining room, you can see the fire blazing in the background. Unfortunately, our table was close enough to the fire that one side of us was basically being slow-roasted. We asked to move, and the staff was incredibly nice and switched us to another table immediately. Food-wise, this was definitely a mixed bag. The 26 oz prime ribeye ($185) was the biggest disappointment. I know it's an expensive special-occasion dish, and I saw a Yelp review calling it 10/10, so we thought, why not? Sadly, it was probably the worst ribeye I've ever had. There was a lot of silver skin/tough connective tissue throughout the meat, and for $185, I just don't think it was worth it. 1/5 for me. The grilled prawns were my favorite dish of the night and were excellent. My husband loved the lamb neck shawarma ($61). It was a little too rich for me, but I can see why he liked it, and at $61, it actually felt like one of the better values of the meal. We also enjoyed the duck hummus. The hummus with two pieces of pita was $19, but that definitely wasn't enough for three people, so we ordered two more pieces for another $10. That brought us to $29 for hummus and four pieces of pita. Delicious? Yes. A bargain? Absolutely not. Even in California, that's a lot of pita math. We also tried the Samira cocktail ($18), which they said was their most popular drink. It was good, but not particularly memorable for that price. There's also a 4% "Healthy LA" charge, so that's something to keep in mind when looking at the menu prices. For three people, our total was about $375 before tip, or a little over $120 per person. That's actually more than we spent at Nobu, so yes, I think Bavel is overpriced. But was the food good overall? Also yes. I'm glad we tried it, and I'd probably come back for the grilled prawns and maybe the shawarma. But the $185 ribeye? That one can stay at Bavel.

Our waiter told us that they can accommodate larger groups which is great. I recently ate food at Saffy's and I didn't enjoy it one bit. The servings there are too small, too pretentious and too overpriced. Open Sesame is the exact opposite and that's why it rules. A wonderful experience in Beverly Boulevard.

One thing you absolutely cannot skip is the edamame hummus. I had never even heard of edamame hummus before coming here, and now I can't believe I went so long without trying it.
