Whenever I go in here, I usually find something that I really like. Unfortunately, they only seem to carry XL and L. They don't even make some of their sweaters in S (check the tags), and I don't think I am unreasonably thin because I fit into H and M clothes just fine. I was really excited for this store, but the lack of smaller sizes and high pricing (in the men's department at least) earn this store a merely ok score. Employees are beyond rude and condescending. I wasted my time driving to the Newbury St location to do an exchange for a jacket I bought online only to find out they didn't carry it. This could have been avoided if my 2 calls, totaling 20+mins, the previous day had ever been taken off hold. Judging by other similar reviews...a staff overhaul is in order. read more

I usually order online but I went to the store yesterday to exchange a piece for another size! There were 2 cashiers and a long line! They overcharged me and refused to do anything about it!!! I've been a long term customer with Zara, i made routine purchases online and in store. Very FEW of their staffs are professional and friendly, most of them are really rude and beyond unprofessional, especially the store manager and some supervisors. I only still shop there because that is the only store in Boston... But never again now! I made a purchase online recently, received items and saw that I was overcharged on an item, strange thing, thought it was my mistake, but total on receipt didn't look familiar so I checked my credit card history online, it clearly indicated Zara charged me $120.44, the charge was reversed/returned on the same day of the purchase and a new charge of $124.69 showed on my credit card! As I added my items up based on the prices on the tags with tax, gave me total $120.44, finally found what went wrong, one item $35.90 was increased to $39.90, that's why Zara charged my card $120.44, reversed the charge, and charged me $124.69, but where's the memo? How come I was not notified of a price increase after the order has already been placed! Also the tag on that item clearly still reflected $35.90! Talked to staffs, they were rude and made fun of my situation/inquiry. Manager only asked for cashier side of the story and ignored me completely when I tried to explain to her, she just simply said "no, and you can return everything if you want to" wow, she clearly didn't want me to keep anything I purchased. I feel inclined to give this store such a terrible rating because the dressing room attendant was so incredibly rude. She scowls and stands there lazily while you struggle to separate and count the clothing items you'd like to try on. Last I checked you were hired to provide customer service, they don't pay you stand around and glare at people. Work harder and smile more, its very simple. read more

I then tried doing an online order I had to pick up at this store and I had to wait over 45 minutes because the lady refused to look up the order for me. I've been in here a couple of times, and I do agree with some of the reviewers. The lighting could be better. On the first floor, there is one side that is adequately lit, but the other side isn't? The selection of clothes for women are cute and stylish, though the quality is questionable. Though not the same location, I bought a coat back at the Burlington Zara, but a button had already come off. It was marked down but then again, it was probably time to mark it down. It can be hard to find your size. Sometimes it just takes a bit of digging. I have yet to try any of their denim or pants. I brought my guy friend here a couple of weeks ago and he wasn't impressed with the men's selection. What a shame. Customer service was... ok. I was trying on a coat in front of a mirror and a sales associate came up to me and told me that they have fitting rooms. I told her that I was aware of that since I just tried one some clothes. We then stared at one another for five odd seconds until she said that I had to try the coat in the fitting room. At least that's what I think she meant... I don't quite understand why I can't slip on a coat outside of the fitting room. I swear, once I'm done, I'll hang the coat, zip it, and put it back where I found it! My friend is in love with it though. She was able to snag two cute dresses for $40. You can find good deals here. Their sales rack isn't bad, and they're actually stuff you might want. Can't say the same for the men's though. All in all, a good (not great but not bad) experience for me. read more

Incredibly rude security guard...Had an iced coffee from Starbucks, he yells at me from across the room "Ma'am no drinks in the store" (okay fair enough, although if I can bring a drink into Barney's or one of the actually nice stores on Newbury, not sure why I can't have a closed drink around their sweatshop made polyester tops)...so I ask what to do with it...his reply: "You can put it HERE (motions to windowsill) like everybody else does." Um wtf?? Ill give two stars just because the store is clean, has a decent layout, and the checkout line moves fast even with several people in line...but I've never been spoken to like that by a security guard at a retail store. read more

This has to be the worst store on Newbury Street. The store is always on the floor. The fitting rooms are trashed and there's always only one open register when I'm here. The wait is always 30+ minutes. The store is really mismanaged and it shows. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Awful awful awful customer service. I've purchased a lot of Zara clothes for my children. I really like their trousers for both my boys and some of their one pieces for my baby. Never had a problem until recently, when an item had a seam unravel at the first wear. My youngest is a baby, he's not hard on clothes, he can't even walk yet so he's certainly not playing in them. Zara didn't give two shits. They kept telling me "we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience". They just didn't care. Quality isn't great and customer service is about the worst I've ever experienced. I told them I'd be returning all unworn items from my recent purchases, which total about $150 in kids clothes. They seemed to be okay with that, rather than replace a pair of $12 baby trousers. Absolutely ridiculous. There are so many stores to shop at and kids grow so fast, I'm constantly buying kids clothes way more often than adult clothes. Zara can kiss my ass. Love this store! I was looking for some shirts to wear while on vacation in Boston. Stopped at H&M first and after an hour could find nothing that was unique, cute & fit well. Continued down Newbury & found the Zara store. Upon entry they were playing my favorite song by Wale. I knew it was meant to be.. :). Found a few unique cute tops. One was a bit pricey but i loved it (& still LOVE it). My only complaint is that the staff at the store seemed snobby & weren't helpful AT ALL.So i cant rate it higher. Zara just opened last week. Pretty expansive selection, though the clothes seemed a bit different from the clothes at other Zara's I've been too. A great addition to Newbury Street. Best of all, the store supposedly gets completely new stock twice a week! UPDATE: I have to say, I am not impressed with their customer service. None of the people working the floor are very friendly, and you have to wait frickin forever to return an item, because only the manager is allowed to authorize returns. The Zara staff is really lacking in the friendliness (or even helpfulness) department. read more

I do like ZARA, but this store is horrible. return and purchase stand in the same line. only one of 3 registry open to customer on each floor. When I was waiting in line, they announced credit card only, no cash, which is unbelievable, not everyone carries credit card. later, they do not accept credit card, debit card, this is even ridiculous. this store really need to improve their hardware and customer service. read more

Most Newbury street locations struggle with spacing due the nature of the buildings, but this Zara is exceptionally poorly organized. Every time I've been here the entire store is as messy as a discount section in a Forever 21, and clothes are left on the floor to get tread on and damaged. I think the most significant problem is with the single changing room available throughout the 3(!) floors. There are never any changing stalls available and the tiny hallway is so packed with racks of discarded clothes that the line to change usually goes all the way down the sales floor. The stellar location has great potential, so I hope Zara hires an interior planner to restructure this disaster read more

I waited in line for 1.5 hours today to return a few items, only for them to tell me that they can't do returns since the system is down. The manager is extremely rude and there was not even a sign on the cashier stating that they could not do returns. What a ridiculous waste of time. read more

The 2 stars are for the prices - they are decent but people you get what you pay for. If you are desperate to wear the latests trends and aren't into quality fabrics then you have found your nirvana. I love Zara, I love the idea that well made clothes don't have to be upwards of $100 for a cute blouse. The store is laid out well with a large sale area which is great if you can dig through all of it. What I didn't like is the customer service. Not one person smiled in the entire store except the security guard when I walked in. When I was paying I felt like someone had died.....no joke. The two girls didn't ask if I found everything ok, didn't say hello, goodbye or thank you. I live in Watertown and I will take the extra hike to the Natick Mall instead of the Newbury Store because of this reason. The energy of the store is draining and you feel 10x worse walking out of there than in.... I suggest to the store manager that Newbury Street is slowly going down because of the current economy.... start embracing every shopper that goes in there or your store will be going out..... read more

This store absolutely sucks for mens fashion at least here in Boston. What the hell were they thinking. It happens ever time a euro retailer opens a store in the US they go too conservative especially here in Boston. The mens fashion is absolutely BORING!!! It literally is so hot in here during the warmer months. Everyone's faces are red, from the shoppers to the employees. Doesn't help that the lines are always at least 15 people deep. I love Zara. It is basically an upscale H&M. Obviously H&M prices are easier on the wallet but I find the clothes at Zara are more original and stylish. Most things are pretty moderately priced, except usually for the 1 thing i really want which is of course in the $200 range, but its not their fault that's just my luck. They probably have the best sale rack I've ever seen. i don't usually do sales , I'm not saying that to be a snob because trust me i should shop sales but i hate digging for things especially in super cramped areas so much i would rather buy things full price (which is why TJ Maxx gives me anxiety although i still love it) but there racks weren't bad. i bought most of my new work wardrobe here when i got my first my first real job. i think business casual can be such a snooze, Zara helped me glam it up a bit. Nothing fits me in here, which is too bad because I really like the style. It was the same when I visited a store in Barcelona. It's strange because I thought European sizes would fit smaller, but the clothes are too big on me somehow. I've been a fan of Zara for awhile. I've always found a good deal on something hip and sleek at their Natick Collection store. Last night I was on Newbury St and thought I'd give that store a try. I'm starting a new job and it's been awhile since I purchased any "professional" clothes. After hiking up to the third floor I took a look around and saw quite a bit I like. Their fashions collection this season is nice. Unfortunately size started at Small then jumped to XL, then XXL. At 5'10" at 160lbs you'd think Euro-wear would fit me perfectly. Either they've run out of all of the stuff in Medium and Large or they don't carry that much in those sizes. Either way, very poor merchandising. One person working the floor in the men's section was able to tell me that neither the pants, shirt or jacket I was interested in came in anything other than Small or XXL while the other boys working spent their time cooing to each other over the new shoes that just came it. I still give Zara in Natick 4 stars (they'd get 5 only if they were a bit cheaper) but this one gets a 2 for poor assistance and lack of product availability. Based on my experience in other Newbury St clothing stores the attitude of the staff was about on par: horrible. Do they forget they hang clothes for a living? They're not as cool as they think they are. read more

I'm glad there is a Zara in a convenient location, however every time I go here something just goes wrong. The customer service could be way better and the store seems so disorganized. Its so hard to shop for clothes when half them are in the wrong place or on the floor. Their sale selection is pretty good though, if you're able to actually find it. read more

I fell in love with Zara when I was living in Spain and am still enamored. I have to admit though, the variety of items in this particular store is limited, and the turnover is low, which can be frustrating. For those who have compared Zara to H&M, I see where you're coming from--but the clothes are certainly more durable and of a higher quality than H&M. read more

Huge Improvements after the last time I went in. Everybody was really friendly, kind, and helpful. I had a very good and more improved experience here. These guys are really know there products really really well. Not only that but there affordable and not priced high. My friend and I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience at Zara this past Saturday in the men's department. The staff was friendly, approachable, helpful and fun! One of the saleswomen (we found out her name was Sasha) went above and beyond - offering selections from the back room to add to items we were looking at. She gave us advice about color and seemed very knowledgable about the merchandise. We'll definitely go back again! read more
