It's okay. A step above H&M, yet I feel its almost on the verge of being to Euro (read: too much for the midwest. It's like Forever 21 2.0 in here. Salesgirls are hostile and impatient with each other, lack of organization, and particularly rude dressing room attendants whenever I visit. I always come for the trends and leave empty-handed due to the lack of organization at the checkout counter. Major bummer. I love their styles, especially their shoes but would rather head down the street to Topshop for a better retail experience. I stood waiting for 15 minutes to check out on the second floor and watched salesgirls roll their eyes at customers who had genuine questions about inventory levels and styles available. Was so excited when this shop came to Michigan Avenue, but they have a long way to come when it goes to Customer Service and adequate staffing of check out process. read more

Horrible customer service, bought 4 pants same style different colors washed them and 2 of them faded, used them only once. I decided to take them to the store in Michigan ave, the associate called the men's department manager, who needs customer service training to deal with customers, told me that I can't return them because they were washed in a condescending tone of voice. He said NO and took off. First I washed the 4 pants at the same time, I don't use harsh detergents and 2 of them faded, meaning there was a problem with the fabric. They didn't take them back, then what pissed me off even more was that I asked for my receipt back and they lost it. The girl who help me told me that she couldn't find the receipt like anything happened. I wanted my receipt because I wanted to return all the merchandise I purchased and never go back to Zara. End of the story they lost my receipt and no exchange for the faded pants I requested to talk to the store manager, a human being who has no sense of urgency and no compassion for the situation, in other worlds careless. I explained again the whole problem, the funny thing is that she was at the cashwrap when I was talking to the first manager, the GM was in front of me ignoring the situation no wanting to deal with it. Wow!! I called corporate, same day I'm still at the store, explained what happened, one can tell customer service didn't even care, I told her to call the store to see if she can talk to the store manager to approve the exchange and the manager told her that my pants were worn out. For the record I used them once. Customer service filled out a case which was the most ridiculous thing, to keep it in file. A month after I received a phone call from Corporate to call them back. I called and the rep. told that the reason for the call was to tell me that the case was summited. Summited for what? I thought they were going to accept my return, NO they didn't . If you are buying clothes from Zara don't expect to use it more than once, the worst quality, horrible customer service in store Michigan ave, and corporate office. I will give them no starts at all, all unpleasant associates, unhelpful managers, the worst customer I have ever experience in retail. I don't need to support that company, and I won't go back to shop ever again. read more

Zara is a Spanish clothing retailer that sells trendy fashions and accesories. The clothing sizes are european that tend to run small for americans and especially for the men. H&M, 4-Ever 21 and United Colors of Benetton are its biggest competition. I enjoy shopping at Zara but it is not cheap or affordablly priced. It is fast-fashion sold at high-prices similar to UC of B. No wonder why it's co-founder Amancio Ortega Gaona was ranked last year by Forbes as the world's 3rd richest person with a net worth of $57 billion (USD). The stores are beautifully deocrated and spacious yet packed with tons of unique finds. This location is one of my favorite, easily situated in the touristy area of Chicago. read more

Customer service at this location could use some serious work. Visited the store today for a specific item that showed availability for multiple sizes and the employee told me the sizes weren't able that i was looking for. She didn't try very hard to locate the items just one and done. Found the item on a random rack on first floor. read more

I always walk in and then walk right back out. The one in Hollywood is so much better (that was my first experience with the store)! It just seems like the stores here aren't as hip. Look, I know it's the same clothes that are shipped all over. Maybe, I just liked that I was different when I wore their clothes. I had been to the Dallas and Barcelona locations and wondered when one would open up in Chicago (as did my out of town friends). It happened. I was excited to check it out, but after stopping in, I thought, eh, it's going to be one of those: hit or definitely miss. The store itself wasn't as big as it looks. First and second floors have the womens and (and kids also on 2), and the men have to trudge up the escalators to the 3rd floor. I can't say I was that disappointed because I did purchase a pretty comfy cardigan for a decent price. They did have some cute simple black dresses, which you can't have too many of, right? Sizes may run a little small, so definitely grab more than one size if you're trying stuff on. Speaking of dressing rooms, I overheard (yes, I eavesdropped, what of it) that womens jeans are geared toward junior sizes and for women with no curves. Zara it's one of my favorite clothing store. I know that people complain about the staff working there, but I don't really think that it's important so much. I like going there and not being ask a hundred times if I need any help or if I am alright. I like to take my time and look around, try staff without being rushed and pushed to buy something. A pediatrician at my local health center recommended this fashionable store, when I complimented a blazer he once wore. It was a fabulous and ultra-expensive looking blazer, he said he bought it at Zara (I was like isn't Zara a girls' store, he said no they also sell guys clothes...lol!) so with that said, I finally decided to check this store out on Black Friday. The clothes are amazing, the first floor is especially for the ladies, and also, the second you'll find more ladies clothes and the kids section is located there. As for (us) gentlemen we have to make a trip all the way to the third floor, for our section. Good quality stuff, I guess its more business-casual trends. This store has terrible customer service. The employees could care less about getting you in and out in a timely manner. The lines are LONG and there is never an appropriate number of sales people for the volume this store needs to accommodate. AND the full # of registers they have are never open. Today on the 3rd floor 2 were "broken". The 2nd floor was not open at all and the 1st floor had 2 registers open w/ probably 20+ people in line. The sales people move like snails. They reattach every sensor on anything you return while you stand and wait. No matter how busy it is. AND the dressing rooms are still not open so you have to buy everything and then return what you don't want. No other store is like this. It's a mess!! I made my concerns clear to the salesperson when I checked out after 30 mins in line. She didn't apologize or say one thing that anyone working in customer service should say to a customer who waited that long. I will be contacting corporate also to voice my concerns. Also, Zara is losing money. Many people leave their stuff and walk away from the store w/o purchasing b/c the lines are ridiculous. All bad in so many ways. read more

Gotta love Zara! In my opinion, Zara, along with Express is the best store choices in Chicago for skinny people who are looking for a moderate prices yet fashionably slim outfits. I love this location even more because it's located next to Express as well. Their coat/blazer/jacket selections are great, and the prices are very acceptable as well. Well, it's been awhile since I've been here but figured I'd go back and see what's up. The place was still clean and laid out well, so that was a great sign. Going upstairs to the men's section, I was not really greeted by anybody. This may have been because it was either near closing time or my headphones were on, but definitely not something I am accustomed too. Not a huge deal in the end, but not great customer service. Really, the place was a non event, which is why it's 3 stars. HOWEVER, their fitting rooms probably have some of the worst lighting I've ever seen in a fitting room. I thought Barney's was bad with theirs but this takes the cake. This is not a club, I shouldn't have to duck to actually see all of myself in the mirror. Too many blind spots. If they want to know what good fitting room lighting is, they should take a trip to the Saks Men's Store almost across the street. Overall the place is very average for a clothing store. read more

Severely Underwhelmed- I have been to zara in numerous countries- and I dont know if its just zara in America or zara's current collection, but i was just like uhhhh boring- nothing really inspired, nothing that screamed at me to grab it and run- very sedated, blah blah blah. Only a winter coat caught my eye, and the sizing is a fiesta, always xs and large- those of us in the middle are SOL most of the time. Anyways, maybe in a few weeks the collection will change- location is great, layout of store is great, a bit dark to my tastes *time to take a NAP* but I think the clothes bring it down - I hope they turn it around. read more

I really love Zara and started shopping here when I studied abroad. It is a Spanish brand and similar to H&M or Topshop. I went in for the first time today and it is a really nice space, but I prefer the one in Old Orchard over this one. Maybe it was just bad timing for shopping right now because everything is on sale (not in a good way and picked over with only XLs left), but they had NOTHING. My second complaint is that they had ONE person at the cash wrap and there was a huge line. All the other associates just stood around and chatted with each other. I've worked in retail, I know how it goes...they were just being lazy. All in all I give the store 4 stars because it's usually a hit, I know I just came on a bad day. I should either be a Zara model or an employee so I can get my 25 percent discount. Zara is a Spanish clothing company and is very European, meaning the clothing fits a slim, Euro style type figure...fits me like a glove! That being said, I can see how in some reviews people complain about the fit and style of the clothing. Zara has also done a real great job with their Men's cologne, the UOMO and Basic are real great scents and cost between $10-$30 for reasonable sized bottles. Every time I've been here, the store has been relatively organized and well-kept despite the hoards of shoppers going in and out and tearing up the store. Even when I was there last week and a huge sale was going on, only the sale section was a bit messy, and there were employees constantly fixing the displays. Walk into Zara and you can forget that you just left the busy streets of Chicago. With club music, open areas, sparingly place clothes, Zara does fashion different. I have been a huge Zara fan since visiting the stores in Spain when studying abroad back in college. They have well-made, trendy clothing/shoes that can be worn multiple times without wearing out. This particular location has an unbelievable selection of woman's clothing and shoes, very helpful service and was in a great location on Michigan Avenue. My only quip is that the store opened 10 minutes late and there was a crowd of us standing outside in the drizzle watching the worker clean the windows. I love this Zara! It is humongous, with three floors and always looks clean and fancy. The first floor is their most expensive clothes, second floor is their TRF line that is less expensive as well as their kids section, and the third floor is the mens section. The staff here is really helpful, nice, and always well-dressed. For example, I was looking for a dress in a size small. I thought they were all out, but the sales assistant went upstairs and found the size for me. I could not thank her enough. Zara clothes are well-made and look great. They have great shoes too. Their clothes and shoes often take inspiration from fashion runway looks, but they are much cheaper obviously. I love going to this store :) read more

I'm a huge fan of Zara in any city and I love that Chicago has two right downtown. This specific location always has enough deals for my cheap ass, so I keep coming back. Yesterday I wandered in before moving on to Topshop and found a 50% off sale section by the first floor dressing room- got a dress for $10 and chelsea boots with mesh for $25! Since I typically only shop sale sections in most stores, this probably is not a comprehensive review but they are definitely worth checking out periodically for their deals. read more

While their cloths are appealing, they are very poorly made. The clerks (they are not sales people) are extremely rude, no customer service skills at all. If you get a gift, even if tags are on the item you must have the receipt; otherwise they will only allow you to exchange for the same item in a different size. If they don't have your size ..to bad. Even with the receipt they will only refund to the exact card, a gift with receipt but without card becomes store. Credit only. I watched 6 people straight in a row have problems trying to return items. Most of the clerks are too busy talking to. Each other, or checking their phones to offer any help. If this is an example of what retail stores have become, no wonder they are going out of business, Zara deserves to go out of business. . read more
