The 1-star reviews aren't wrong, this location is shockingly bad for a Zara. A staff member explained to me that they intentionally don't open their fitting room most of the time to save staffing headcount and costs and also don't keep their online inventory up to date for the same reason (so you can't trust anything is in stock even if the app says they have it). I don't see how they meet the Zara corporate brand standards. Desperately needs new management and I wouldn't bother until they make a change. read more

Got verbally harassed by one of the workers there. The African American lady wearing hijab made rude and racist comments when we were waiting for our friend who was occupying one of the fitting rooms. Workers are super rude and make it obvious that they don't want to be at work. They start closing the fitting rooms 30min - 1 hour before they close, when there were still a lot of customers. I've never seen any store that does that. When I asked if I could quickly try on a pair of jeans, the lady rolled her eyes at me and rudely said no without giving me an explanation. read more

I almost felt guilty for writing a bad review, since I usually love shopping at Zara (especially online) but I will probably never visit this location again. I'm reading through the other reviews and quickly see I am not alone! The manager here, young Asian male by the name of Alex was extremely rude and sassy upon asking for assistance. I was actually shocked that he was even manager after having our conversation. I spoke to two different employees here, one being Alex and another young man at the register; both were rude and uninterested in helping. I don't mean to sound like a total snob, but this is a high end shopping center, the customer service SHOULD be exceptional in an area like this -- actually, if you're going to get a job in sales/customer service (esp as a manager position) your interpersonal communication skills and willingness to assist should be superb... I wanted to purchase cargo jeans at the advertised sale price, but the sales associate would not honor the price. One of the better Zara's when it comes to having the store clean, organized, and well stocked. They also have a good selection compared to others. The customer service isn't great. You don't feel welcomed and it feels like your existence is annoying lol. Dressing rooms are sometimes closed which is inconvenient. If you go during the week before 1 it's nice! Place is empty, lines are short, and shopping is enjoyable. Lastly, I showed up at 8:30pm since Yelp states the store closes at 9pm, but the store music is off, the staff are putting clothes away, and they tell me they closed at 8pm? Wish I could give negative stars. Customer service is awful! Rude, unhelpful employees. Witnessed an incident where a female "general manager" (on 1/11/24 during the closing shift) at the Walnut Creek, CA location was screaming at a customer in line when this customer kindly suggested a way to help another customer with a return because of how unhelpful the manager was being. I couldn't believe what I witnessed. Return and exchange policy is ridiculous, even with a receipt. The place is always a mess. Last three times I've been in the store, I've dealt with or seen Zara employees being over-the-top rude to customers. It's hard to believe these young adults can keep their jobs if they treat customers this horribly. I don't want to return to this Walnut Creek store. Unfortunately I am somewhat forced to come here because the only other closest store San Francisco. But the reviews are very very true. Just bad vibes and bad energy. I'm a person of color and when I asked to try on something all of a sudden the fitting room's close at 4 PM. But for others they said they close at 7 PM. The manager just have no good customer service skills. Tone is very condescending and belittling. Yelling in the store to come bring your purchases up to the front. Walnut Creek needs to open the store until 9 if you see it so busy. I've come to this location more than a few times and it has gotten progressively worse in the last 4 years. It's incredibly messy with clothes on the ground, shoes scattered around, and piles of miss-matched clothes thrown onto tables. Rude employees. They are not friendly and not helpful. I've been fat shamed on 2 different occasions after realizing I'd accidentally grabbed smalls instead of mediums. Had me crying in my car after. They insinuated I couldn't afford their clothes because my card had an issue going through the 1st two tries. Rushed me out of the fitting rooms after only 10 minutes with 2 hours to closing after they'd brought me back with 10 items. Made no sense. And today's issue: the checkout line was incredibly slow and long, as they had 2 registers only for returns, and only 1 for purchases. It was a 20 minutes wait with only 6 people ahead of me. The manager of this store violates the low of the customer ! I bought a vest, it had a discount sticker, at the checkout they scanned it at full price. The manager came and said that she could not sell it at the price on the price tag, and removed the discount sticker, to which I said that it was not my fault, I have the low to buy at the price on the price tag. She replied that she could not do this. The sticker is easily removed, and I put it on myself, I was shocked by such an accusation, I simply did not find the words to answer her. I made a return. Ordered this shirt online for my daughter for Christmas. Shipping time was ok but when I opened the package I couldn't believe what I saw! Why on earth would this completely damaged item ever leave the ZARA warehouse! To make things worse, I went back online to start a return and discovered that they make the CUSTOMER pay for return shipping. So first you send damaged goods and then make consumers pay to return them? I saw there was an option to return in store so I drove 40 minutes to the nearest location only to be told I could NOT return it in store because it's damaged! After calling CS and insisting that they remedy this I was sent a prepaid shippigg by label. Took the item to the post office and per my tracking number Zara received my return 6 days ago but I have yet to receive confirmation that my refund is being processed. This Happened Yesterday Jan 22: Drove 45min to this Zara to make a return from an online purchase that didn't work out. I checked store hours which showed the store closes at 8pm. Got there at 5:50 to find the manager (?) blocking the door and telling anyone who came by that the store was closed and no one could come in. He was only letting people out. No explanation, just we're closing early today we open at X time tomorrow you can come back then. I'm sure he had his reasons, but he was a little standoffish and was making it obvious he did not want to talk to anyone (he wouldn't make eye contact and would keep looking up or away). I have spent countless dollars at this store over the years. Recently I was 10 days over the return window of 30 days and the store clerk told me they couldn't accept the return - everyone at the counter seemed angry and disgruntled. They told me to call customer service who would make an exception with a gift card return. In retrospect, I learned this was simply to get me to leave... I called customer service this morning and they refused to accept the return. This policy seems archaic compared to other online stores... buyer beware! So mad I lost so much money here and learned my lesson but good customer service would've made at least ONE exception. HATE. Won't be back anytime soon. read more

The staff is not the friendliest, however they do have to put up with a lot theft at this location. Seems every time I am in this location a theft happens. Thieves must love this location because they don't even hide it. They come in with empty bags and casually load it up with clothing while taking there time. It's almost funny, but it's not. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They do not issue returns!! I bought 2 dresses from them and had to return one cause it was too big. They sent the dress back to me and refuse to give a refund cause they said it was worn and it had make up on it. I tried it once and the tags was still on and when I received it back there was no makeup on it. I call customer service back (if you can call them that) and they just told me they 'consider' it a used dress and will not give me a reason why they consider it not new. We already all know Zara isn't the Zara of several years ago... but this particular location is pretty much the bottom of the barrel in terms of inventory + store management. Came in on a Wednesday at 5pm, walked around for 30 min only to find out the fitting room was closed due to "short staffing" a whole 3 hours prior to the store's close time. I spoke to the manager to provide feedback that there should be a sign placed at the front of the store or even by fitting room and the "manager" was not interested and said I could call corporate without providing me a phone number. I feel the need to defend this Zara because I had no problems returning items here. This may be one of the busiest Zara's I've been to in awhile and considering the amount of people that were already here on an early Tuesday afternoon, I can see how this place can get a bit untidy on even busier days. Employees at the check out were very nice as I had came in with 2 different transactions for returns. Both were within 30 days of purchase, all the clothes were unworn, and I had the receipts for both transactions. This Zara location is a hit and miss. When they do not have sale, inventory and stock are good. Store is organized. However, when there is a sale going on, this place become chaotic that you have to dig in order to find something you like/want. I shop here all the time. There is always a line for cashier? I don't know why? Is that not enough of staffs or are the staffs just wondering around and make themselves "look" busy.
