Huge team came to install the tankless water heater. The permit inspector found some shortcuts they tried to make and they addressed them in order to get signed off, however, they were a bit sloppy when they did their work and I had to repaint my garage door since they used it as a "shelf" for the blue PVC cement while lathering the pipes. Within a couple weeks of installation, the main board on the Navien water heater went bad, and I had to get in the middle of the negotiations with the water heater company on who was going to cover the labor cost since it was under warranty. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I paid $5,000 for them to replace my main line and the valves connecting to the main and the irrigation pipe. Four months later, the irrigation pipe snapped clean off at 2am last Sunday. When I asked them if they could fix it, they refused, saying they were too busy and told me to call a gardener. The gardener found the connection they made was completely misaligned and the "T" fitting was cut too long, forcing the joint and putting constant pressure on the irrigation pipe until it broke. They refused to take responsibility, claiming I would have seen flooding (wrong- my main was leaking 600 gallons an hour with no flooding) or that something hit it, which the water company confirmed started at 2am on Sunday. This was their work, their faulty connection, and their problem to fix, but they won't make it right. read more

One was a complete replacement of our sewer lateral which was not easy given that our sewer main is in back of our house and down a hill (we live on a high hill and the property is not level). Our most recent job was while we were having our driveway replaced. In tearing up the old driveway they discovered the water main running from the sidewalk to the house. Luckily they discovered it before hitting it but it was not up to code (no surprise with a 50 year old house) and needed to be buried much further. We needed it replaced ASAP to keep the driveway project on track. I called Zaragosa and they sent somebody to take a look that afternoon. The said they could have someone back the next morning, which they did, and it was all replaced and upgraded before noon. This kept the driveway project on schedule. Great job and quick turnaround. It appears that Zaragoza has a trend of damaging irrigation lines and not taking responsibility for it. After they trenched my front yard/main line there was break in my irrigation line that my gardeners discovered two weeks after they finished in December. My gardeners turned off the irrigation system for the season and given the chaos of the holiday season, I did not contact Zaragoza until we turned the system on in late March. Instead of taking responsibility for it, Jose argued with me and told me that "I couldn't prove anything," and "he didn't care that I paid a significant amount of money," he proceeded to hang-up on me. He continuously talked down to me throughout the process. Especially if you are a woman, I would not use this company. I normally would not leave a bad review for a local company but how I was treated is a reflection of their work and their morals. read more

"Bummer, bummer, I need a plumber...". After doing the relatively cheap fix on my water heater last fall I knew it was on its last legs. I was only hoping to get an additional year out of it before having to spring for a brand new one, for which the quotes I was receiving were quite over the top. When my water heater began failing again recently it was less dramatic than last fall. The water was still warm - not hot - giving me the time to shop around for a less ridiculous price on a new water heater. A couple of plumbers came out and assessed the situation and quoted me a price for installing a new water heater. Zaragoza Plumbing's price was $50 less than the other estimate I got and that along with their professionalism was enough to land them the job. Here's what I liked about Zaragoza Plumbing: 1. I was able to reach a live person on the phone. 2. They were willing to come out, assess the situation, and give me a quote at no cost. 3. When they came out, they came on time and followed up with a written quote via e-mail later that same day. 4. They were able to complete the job soon and up to code. 5. They scheduled the permit inspection for me but allowed that inspection to be done without them being on site. This meant I didn't have to pay for additional man-hours. 6. Were any problems identified in the inspection, causing the heater to fail the permitting process, they would remedy those problems without additional charge. They were essentially guaranteeing that the install would pass the inspection process. On the day of installation the team from Zaragoza Plumbing came on time, completed the installation, then rang my doorbell and told me I'd have plenty of hot water in a few hours. I did and still do. I was very pleased with every aspect of service from Zaragoza Plumbing. I never love having to spend $2,150 (50-gallon Bradford White heater purchased, installed, and permitted) but when I must, it goes down a lot easier when things go as smoothly as they did with Zaragoza. read more

Zaragoza correctly diagnosed a major plumbing issue (when another plumber failed) and fixed it super quickly.

We were quoted via email to have a sump pump placed in our crawlspace. When they arrived to provide the service they said that we must have misunderstood the price quoted to us and it was going to cost almost double. They had quoted us for a "replacement" pump not new placement. Even though we never said we needed a replacement pump. When we spoke with the manager to clarify he became aggressive over the phone and accused us of being crooks. When we told him we have email proof of the quote he said that per the original phone conversation we weren't clear. As per our email attached in the photos, we clearly stated that we needed a sump pump installed and there was never mention of "replacement". We would have been more than happy to come to an agreement based on the misunderstanding but the managers temper got the best of him and we both went our separate ways. This interaction was shocking to me because we have used their services several times before and had a good impression of the company. However, after years in the service industry, I am appalled that the company not only wouldn't uphold their quoted price, they became angry at the presumption that they even made a mistake. read more

The office contacted me regarding scheduling and informed me the rate. They were able to come out within the next two days which is pretty fast due to every plumber in Marin was busy cos of the big rain storm we had. On the date of appt, Jose called me when he was on his way. Showed up within the time frame promised. Told him the problem I was having and he said instead of snake all the storm drains looking for clog, he will just run the video camera through the drains and identify the problem first. Him and his helper quickly did a video inspection of all my storm drains with a really high tech device and found no issue. Then he went under the foundation of the house and gave me some advice on what he thinks is the problem and solution. He is very knowledgeable and professional. We need to replace 30' of our outside drainage pipe. This job included digging an open trench, approx. 4 feet deep to remove the clogged and broken pipe and replacing it with new PVC pipe. The estimate was very reasonable and we were able to schedule the work to be done within the next week. Originally Jose said it would be 1 1/2 day job. My water heater decided to take a break, and Jose was able to come out within a couple of hours and get it back to work. He explained that at 17 years the unit was well past its life expectancy so problems may reoccur. He gave me several options for dealing with future problems, including inexpensive ways to try to get more life out of it. Well, sure enough, it gave up the ghost soon thereafter, and they were able to come out and replace it within a couple of hours. I spoke with them through Yelp about a leak no price was ever discussed so I assumed they were coming over to give me an estimate as two other plumbers did the same and charged nothing. Well this company came over spent 20 minutes at my house, left and gave me a bill for $200 and said that's their initial cost. Woke up to no hot water one morning so went to the water heater to see the burner failure light flashing on the unit. Was about to order a part and try to fix it myself but decided to get a professional opinion. I called Zaragoza, who had come to our house to give a free quote for a complete repipe of the house previously, to have a look. I called the office and was quickly told that someone would be at the house within 2 hours to take a look. Jose showed up on time, and not only quickly got the burner fired up, but advised me to call the manufacturer to see if my unit was under recall because of a faulty burner design to get a free replacement part. Unfortunately my unit missed the cutoff by a few months, but it was worth a try. I can't say enough good things about the professionalism of Jose, to take time to come by, get the water heater working, and recommend how to get a free part without charging a dime was truly an exceptional experience. Cesar and Miguel are the BEST! They were so kind and knowledgeable! They both arrived on-time, worked fast and they cleaned up once they were done. I also appreciate the fact that they put up with me ( I am the client who asks a 1 million questions until I fully understand what the problem is). They were patient and they took the time to explain the problem in detail and the explain the plan of attack to fix it! They have been out to my house twice: The first time was to repair some old leaky pipes and the second time was today, when a contractor accidentally hammered a nail through a pipe. They were able to get me on the schedule promptly in both instances. I greatly appreciate that they were beyond accommodating today, coming out for an emergency without prior notice. Wanted to put our washer and dryer in our garage, but didn't have a drain. Further, the main drain from the house was only accessible by cutting through the garage floor/foundation and trenching under a walkway. Every other bid said they'd have to cut the walkway.
