Not questioning quality of work, just wildly excessive charges topped off with insulting arrogance from a Manager this morning who called to ask why I'd cancelled their services; first for a Water Heater & then a host of non-existent or trivial issues from noting "better to change chrome pipes & fittings for plastic...to avoid possible leaks," yeah I really want plastic in my drinking water! When he began denigrating other plumbing competitors, with the label "we're no Chuck & a truck" plumbing company --had to laugh. To top off the experience; he asked if he could discount some of the proposed jobs? Uhh no, you're already 150% higher than several local competitors. At 8:30 AM this morning I made a same day appointment for this afternoon after 1:00 PM. It was acknowledged & confirmed. It turned out I was taking to an AI robot. I couldn't talk to a live person to make an appointment. The AI robot told me I would be called by a live person to confirm an exact time. I never was. I called the office just now. Not only was the tech late for the inspection, but he quoted me $900 to fix a cheap over mount sink drain that had a leak. I was told by the second plumber that it just needed to be re-puttied. Borderline predatory pricing. Replaced a water supply line to refrigerator for $770 - 30 minutes of work, $20 part. I recently rolled my refrigerator out to clean and nicked the line the supplies water to the door dispenser and ice machine. I looked it up and it's a $20 line. I considered doing it myself but thought I didn't want to take a chance getting a slow leak somewhere. I expected a high price akin to an hourly charge of $250 (they charge by job, not time). I was in a rush to pick up my kids so signed the approximately $770 estimate after asking how long it would take. They said 2-3 hours. This made me think I was getting some better dry-wall work and fitting or something better than the quick hole-in-the floor so I reluctantly signed. It was a simple job of pushing a plastic line through two holes in the floor and connecting the line from the crawl space (it took me longer to clear the access to the crawl space than them to do the work). No drywall work, no drilling, no fancy valves, or mounting... unless you count the duct tape on the side of the cabinetry. They were at my house for 2 hours looking at everything before handing me a quote (I was told for training purposes). Please save yourself some money and don't call them for anything simple or even mildly complicated. I've used another area plumber (Ben Franklin) and signed an estimate only to be pleasantly surprised to pay much less when they said it was super easy. I should have used them or done it myself. read more

The idea of one company taking care of your home's mechanical systems is attractive, but here is my experience with Peter Levi. I reached out given a problem getting hot water to the Master bath and wanted to eliminate water waste and wait time. They ended up selling me a new tankless system to the tune of $8k+ just to realize it was a bad valve in the shower. Fixing that cost another ~$1k. I reached out this fall, with its uncommonly cold temperatures, when my furnace failed to kick on. Their technician determined a new electrical board was needed. I followed up for three weeks to find out when the part would be in and we could schedule the install. They gave me a couple of updates and then I never heard from them again. I finally called another small, local HVAC company, and they had the problem fixed within the course of a week. Far from taking care of all my mechanical issues, Peter Levi can be counted on for high prices, misinformation, poor workmanship, and even worse communications. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for your household needs. read more

We have a water leak in the crawl space (we could actually hear the water flowing under the house) and we called Peter Levi right away. Johnny came out within a few hours and he was able to find the leak and fix it on the same day. Johnny was super friendly and professional, and gave very good suggestions on how to check for leak. We are very impressed by his work and his professionalism. Prior to this, we used Peter Levi a couple times already and every time, everything went really well. A couple of guys prior to Johnny had some sale pitch to try to get us to do more work. We didn't like it much but understand that it can happen. By far, Johnny is our favorite technician. We trusted Levi Plumbing for years but began to get suspicious when we bought into an offer. For a monthly fee, they would come out and check our A/C, furnace and water heater once a year. Every time they recommended repairs or new replacements. Perhaps, in the beginning some costs were not high enough for me to question their recommendations. As time went on we realized we spent a lot after each of their visits. Last week, they came out for their check in and said we had a leak in our garage. The service agent quoted us 6000 or 17000 to fix the leak in the garage. This time we wouldn't just settle for their recommendations so we had a very reputable plumber come out for an opinion. He did the work in 6 hours and charged us $1175. We NO longer trust them and while they tell me they pay their workers well, I'm pleased to hear, but looking back, the disparity in rate difference was far more than taking care of employees. We were scammed and I hope others will be wiser than me and get a second opinion from another Plumbing Co. They are unbelievably dishonest. read more

They always do a great job and are considerate of our time. This week, we had the pleasure of working with Ray M. He came on Tuesday for regular maintenance and found some issues. He came back today for follow up, including installing a new air purification system and cleaning our fan blower, which was a little complicated because of our garage set up. Peter Levi was one of several plumbers in Marin recommended by Angi's list for replacing a kitchen garbage disposal at my home. I had gone out and purchased the same disposal unit (Insinkerator Badger) for their technician to install. The price billed for the half- hour install of $690 was three times the cost of the actual disposal?! How is that even possible?! I emailed Peter Levy three times and never received a response. It is clear to me now why this plumber's ratings are mediocre...sky-high prices and no client follow-through. read more
