We were in town for the weekend, I really like Greek food and saw this place on Yelp. It was nearby and I thought we would give them a try. I ordered take out and brought it home. To summarize quickly, it's ok. I ordered the lamb chops. I love lamb and goat when it's prepared properly. It comes with a Greek salad and a side of rice. I also ordered a side of baba ghanoush. The baba ghanoush was probably the best thing on the plate. The rice was just rice, and the salad was just a salad, ok but nothing special. The lamb chops were ordered medium rare and they came out well done. Overcooked, tough, lots of char, you get four, I ate one and a half and the threw the rest away, almost inedible. Also the pita bread was store bought, at least it looked and tasted like store bought. I don't think they advertised home made but it would have been a nice touch. My wife ordered vegetable samosas. She said they were good. Also ordered an appetizer falafel and spanakopita. The falafels were good, a little heavy on the onions. The spanakopita was a hit. It was done like a handheld fried pie. It was very good. When I picked up the food the restaurant looked clean with a nice ambiance. The staff was friendly. The biggest issue was the lamb chops. That was a mistake. I guess it's easy to mess that up. But you would think if it's on the menu, they should know how to prepare it properly. I don't know if I would go back or not. Maybe to try another entree. Quick and friendly service. Ordered Trio Hummus Sampler for our appetizer, it was very rich in flavor. The pita bread that was brought out tasted fresh out the oven, definitely my favorite food item out of everything. Meat was marinated perfectly. I come here for lunch every once and a while. The place is clean and inviting. The food is authentic and is great quality for a small, independent restaurant. Today after the cold ice storms plaguing Houston, I needed something warm and inviting. I got a pot of the Arabic mint tea and a big lamb shank with basmati rice and baba. Still a very good Mediterranean Restaurant for try if you haven't. The Shawarwa platter could make 3 whole shawarmas. I ordered a side of Tzatitzi and Baga Ghanoug. It was missing that Roasted Eggplant flavor of a real Baba Ghanough. The pita was hot and freshly baked. The hubs have Groundmeat Kebob (Kodeida something). When we stepped into this strip center location we were pleasantly surprised by the decor. Lots of little touches. I love supporting local restaurants. We love Med/Greek/Middle Eastern food. We tried the hummus, shawarma, falafel, Greek Salad and grape leaves. Everything was good. Not great. Our service was not as attentive as other servers working. That would probably be a 4 star review until my wife visited the restroom Ann's found it not as clean and well stocked as you should expect. No soap was concerning. I have ordered for hospital groups for my work, as well as for small dinners I have held in my home in the past. The restaurant is available for delivery through apps and picking up in person for to-go orders are also available. The indoor colorful decor is nice to look at all while waiting. Mixed grilled meats entree is juicy, tender and the dipping sauce is paired nicely with it. It's served with rice and feta salad. The chargrilled marks on the kabobs just bring out so much flavor. Seafood and vegetarian dishes are also options to pick from. For me, ordering out is a craving and/or treat, and Zara's quality helps me to be a bit mindful of my health and wallet. read more

Easily the best Mediterranean on the north side of town (this goes for both the Rayford and Louetta locations.) Any of their meat entrees are up there with the best in the entire Houston area. The food here is really good. And the interior is really bright and colorful! However, on the day we came, we had to wait for more than an hour for our food. The place didn't look all that busy other than another table with a dozen people before us... perhaps that was enough to throw the kitchen for a loop. September 2020 update - ordered takeout for dinner. We order a gyro wrap and chicken shawarma wrap. These are each packed with flavor. The pita was soft and warm. These are amazing and earn 5 stars easily! They given extra tzatziki and garlic sauce for them (the wraps are so flavorful not needed for me but others may want even more flavor!) the gyro meat is among the best I have had (I ate a lot of very good gyros when living in the Netherlands). Highly recommend this place! July 2019 - The food here is very delicious. I think Zara's should get 4.5 star (I suppose I am just a stickler on giving out 5 star reviews). The menu is full of great options. My wife and I shared the Zara Mixed Grill which comes with 4 meats, rice, salad and pita bread. They were all very flavorful. The potions are generous. The menu indicates it is enough food for two but we could have easily split that plate with a third person, and maybe even a fourth. We had service is quick and attentive (they made sure our water glasses were never completely empty!) The dining area is clean, and decor fun. Stopped here on the way back home to Dallas from Houston. Wasn't sure what to expect from the outside, but as my girlfriend reminded me hole-in-the-wall places can be great. I'm glad I listened. Walking in was quite the shock, such a beautiful place inside. Staff was very attentive and helpful. The Zara's Sombosos were so good we joked that we should cancel our entree and order a dozen more. We shared the Shawarma Lover Platter with the chicken and gyro. The gyro meat was good, but the chicken shawarma meat was so good that we didn't want to use the tzatziki sauce on it even though it was excellent too. I absolutely love this Lebanese restaurant :))! The owner lady was very friendly. We arrived around mid afternoon. My dining partner had the gyro plate and added the other ingredients to make a gyro which was excellent. The seasoned hummus and waffle fries were excellent! I had the Moussaka but was disappointed because all the flavors blended together. The béchamel sauce cracked and blended in flavor wise with main part of my moussaka. It didn't have that just made taste. The owner lady said it was made fresh daily.... My seasoned hummus and seasoned waffle fries were so delish though also :))! They are a must to order. I had like a mint iced tea which I eventually liked a lot. The ceiling is really unique and some of the chandeliers and ornaments came from Morocco which I liked. They have a prayer room. It looked very lovely from the outside. They are located in a strip center with ample parking on the north side of Rayford. The owner lady wanted us to be happy with our meals. She's really sweet.
