The food was great. The service was also great. The hookah was an extra for the night. We had a great time there.

I've now eaten twice at Zatar, and I plan to return as soon as possible. Per the "tapas" concept, I've always stuck to the small plates. And boy are they tasty: the arnabeet (cauliflower) is an all-star choice. Other favorites include the sambousek (beef pastries) and the fatayer (like spanakopata--a spinach pastry). The "cheese cigars" are as decadent and delicious as they sound. On one visit (with five people), we ordered the "Lebanese Meza," which is a sampler platter for the table. A good amount of food, but we still felt the need to supplement it with some arnabeet. (But then again, who can pass up arnabeet?) Looking forward to sitting on the patio now that the weather is nice. read more

We were a big party so we had the chance to try most of the menu items and every single one of them was amazing. It's really hard to pick a favorite. The idea of Lebanese home food with a twist was a refreshing change from the traditional middle eastern menus you see at most middle eastern restaurants in the US. read more

Highly highly recommend this place! Finally a place with hookah in DALLAS! Always have to drive to Richardson. But now this is our new favorite place. The ambiance is amazing, the food is DELICIOUS, the hookah is of GREAT quality. They have the natural coals that burn soooo long! The BLUE MIST was our choice for the night. Im actually very pleased that they have a full bar here! With a menu filled with extravagant, and savory cocktails. You can sit and enjoy a HENNESY MULE which smoking on great quality flavored tobacco. But most importantly.. the SERVICE. The staff here is simply A M A Z I N G. Very attentive. Very full of live. You can tell how much MARC the owner really cares about his place and his clientele. Made us feel very welcomed. Even came over and personally chatted with us about the new place! We were more than interested! HASSAN was our server; he gave speedy service and never made us feel like we were forgotten. My friends and I really liked this space. I will start with the negatives because there are very few. Parking is horrid - this is not something Zatar can do anything about though . Deep Ellum does not allow valet parking. There are a few lots surrounding the restaurant though but arrive early to park. There is limited space "inside" the restaurant. There is a large closed in area that has heaters but is still "outdoor" in a way and smoke from the Hookahs. We booked the reservation for 2 but we ended up having another guest join us so they did not have room in the main dining. It was not really smokey which is great but you could definitely smell the hookah's surrounding you. The service was quick and the food was really nice. I did the Norwegian salmon served with Brussels sprouts, grape and walnut medley with fig balsamic glaze. The salmon was a bit overcooked and had no flavor to it but the side was absolutely delicious. My friend wanted the Moghrabiyeh (chicken) but they were sold out on cous cous so she ordered the Lahem meshweh (steak). This was also very good. The steak was marinated very well and cooked nicely. At the time that we dined the online menu did not accurately reflect the in-house menu. Not a big deal but we had a friend that was running late try to order before she arrived and the waitstaff had no clue what we were trying to select. The whole table had the Lebanese mule which was soooo good. I do not like dark liquors and this was still delicious. Overall - the experience was very nice. I will make sure to make an accurate reservation next time to sit in the main dining though. read more

Mediocre at best. Service was the absolute worst. Arrived on-time for our 6:15 reservation. We were seated at first by a table near the restroom in an empty restaurant. I asked for a different table and we were seated closer to the front. 15 minutes later our waiter brought us water. Forty five minutes later, dinner arrived. Moussaka - decent flavor but overloaded with peppers and onions. One piece of eggplant. Hubby had the Gyro platter. His meat was cold and average. Our waiter never asked us if we needed anything or if our meal was good. Then; we had to ask for our bill and ask someone to ask our waiter to come get our credit card. If I can say one thing about the quality of employees working here I will. They are alll super friendly and genuine. We lost our phone in Deep Ellum about 2 weeks ago. Came here with some friends for dinner as we wanted to try something new, and with that said we all left very pleased! The food was great, their hummus (which we had as an appetizer with pita bread) had very good flavor and I highly recommend the salmon as a dinner entree. Overall Zatar was great, I would recommend it to anyone and would go back next time I'm in the area. read more

Went here a few weeks ago for friend's birthday. Atmosphere: Cozy, quiet, and friendly - the owner and staff were very welcoming. There are 2 parts of the restaurant - the 2nd portion of the restaurant is more outdoorsy and there's hookah. Service: I think our server was Janae. She was very attentive, which we greatly appreciated. Order: Drink: Lebanese Mule (cognac, apricot cordial, honey syrup, ginger beer): genuinely enjoyed my drink and felt that ginger was not too overwhelming. However, it was a bit costly (around ~$11) Appetizer: Automatically comes with fresh pita bread and olive oil dip with zatar (enjoyed this especially how fresh the pita bread was). We also ordered Muhammara dip (cold appetizer-roasted red pepper, walnuts and pomegranate molasses). I felt that dip was a bit bland and would not order this again. Dinner: Chicken shawarma wrap (thinly sliced chicken with garlic cream, fries, pickles and tomatoes) - Enjoyed my wrap and felt it was very filling with plenty of flavor. It was bit more expensive compared (~$9) to other places I have been too. Did not really care for the fries, would have preferred another option for a side. Dessert: Halva chocolate cake (chocolate cake with layers of chocolate mousse and halva) Enjoyed the dessert and found the chocolate to be very decadent but not overwhelming the halva. The halva didn't taste too oily which I was happy about. However, a slice of cake was expensive (~$12). If you come for your birthday, you can request to wear fez hats during your dinner. Overall, I would come back again and order another Chicken shawarma wrap. Genuinely enjoyed the lebanese mule and would have to considered if I wanted to pay that much again. read more

Zatar truly has some of the most delicious and flavorful food I've ever eaten. The hummus was so incredibly light and fluffy and the cheese cigars are unlike anything I've ever had before (they were insane - you have to order them). Fun place for drinks and amazing authentic food! Service was good, but could have been better. They have a great hookah selection as well. Be advised the hookahs burn for a while, which is great, but make sure you have plenty of time for it. I can't wait to come back to Dallas just to eat at Zatar again! I was in town visiting a friend on a Saturday night and she recommended us trying out Zatar for dinner. We all weren't terribly hungry, so we ordered a couple plates to split for the table. We ordered the Baba ghannouj, Falafel basket, and Taco trio. Everything was so delicious! I'm now in love with baba ghannouj! I wish I was hungrier that night just so we could have tried more menu options. I also ordered a couple of dirty martinis and they were made perfectly. Also our waiter was so sweet and attentive. While I'm not in Dallas often, I'll definitely make my way back to Zatar during my next trip. read more

Really disappointing meal. We came in for tapas Friday night. Service was good. Food was anything but good. The Sambousek was clearly a pre-packaged frozen "tapas" you can buy at Trader Joe's. The dough was so dense and the "spiced" meat had no spice at all. The fattoush was super soggy, chopped way too coarsely, and had so much lemon it was impossible to eat. The pita chips on top were the best part of our meal. Felafel was dry and had way way too much anise in it. It was overpowering. The tahini was weird too. Finally the cheese cigars: decent. I also ordered a vodka soda lime with Titos and I'm pretty sure I got Smirnoff. Or bottles lime juice. It was just off. This is definitely not Los Angeles or New York Lebanese! read more

This place was awesome! Extremely friendly staff, very good food with reasonable prices, outstanding drinks, and real chill atmosphere. Not to mention, the hookah was perfect with a variety of good flavors to choose from. Sam, the owner, also made it around to introduce himself and to make sure everything was ok with our visit. This place is fantastic! I went with a friend of mine last night and we both enjoyed it. We both had the Zatar Smash cocktail and hummus appetizer. I topped it off with the lamb mac and cheese while he had the kafta wrap but as a plate. The food was too tempting and delicious not to share. I cannot wait to return and make my way through what looks like an amazing menu suitable for people of all types of tastes. The wait staff and owners were kind and inviting. The layout of the restaurant was comfortable and inviting. I noticed an outdoor patio too. It's a place great for date nights with friends, regular date night, and family gatherings. Cool hookah bar, solid food. Love the location it's better than most hookah bars I've been to and probably the nicest spot in Dallas. I would recommend the food, the drinks are average and a little weak. The hookahs solid even if a little expensive, reasonable though cause the part of town is pretty prime. Simply put, some of the very best food I've had in Dallas. I was introduced to Zåtar about two weeks ago, on a Thursday evening.  I dined in the restaurant that night.  I loved it so much that I ordered delivery from there that very next Friday night.  And in the past two weeks, have eaten Zåtar a few more times. Needlessly to say, I adore Zåtar, and it's quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas. I've tried several of the menu items.  Each dish I've had is mouthwateringly good -- flavorful, with just the right amount of spice and sauces to compliment the food, such that you can still enjoy the exquisite taste and texture of the meats, herbs, and vegetables. Some of my personal favorites include the Grape Leaves, the Sweet Kibbeh, Beef Shawarma, and the delectable Cheese Cigars.  And you can't go wrong with the Taco Trio, which gives you a nice sample of Zåtar's beef and chicken shawarma, falafel, and several of the herbs, spices, and sauces found throughout the menu. Every meal is plated beautifully, whether dining in or receiving a home delivery.  When ordering delivery, I've been so impressed by the way Zåtar packages my food.  Cleanly and securely placed in to-go containers, with garnishes that make everything look so delicious and inviting when you open it up at home.  The level of care lets me know that Zåtar wants me to have a phenomenal dining experience, whether I'm seated in their restaurant or at my own kitchen table. Zåtar has a comfortable, charming atmosphere, with a lovely patio area that's perfect for those looking for some hookah action during dinner.  The waitstaff are friendly and knowledgable, and seem genuinely driven to make sure every diner has a good experience.  The bartenders are great, as well, and know how the mix the perfect cocktail -- whether you prefer your classic, reliable favorites (I had an amazing Old Fashioned one evening), or you're looking for something a little more unusual and adventurous. Crazy vibe hangout hookah lounge! Not what I've seen nor expected but it turn out to be a cool night. Very nice flavors and large hookahs. I really enjoy my company and the musical vibe of Zåtar.
