Drove over 50 miles, more than 1 hour, to surprisingly find this store rebranded to Zaucer, probably in 2015, when we moved to Tacoma. It had actually been one of our favorite pizza restaurants for both family dining and work lunches for quite a long time since its beginning around 2005. This was like a reunion with old friends, especially when the colors, smells, and tastes came to heart after so many years. Any item on the menu won't go wrong. And this is the reason why one would come back again and again to try them all. Given that pizza is popular in the US, this particular restaurant is at the very top of innovation, to beat other American food, and with the bravery to blend cultural elements in a way that may be iconicized as an "alien" / UFO symbol, as well as a high-IQ mark. read more

I was in the area and needed a place to sit for a late lunch while I did some work. Upon arrival I was greeted by the lady behind the counter. I wasn't really given any direction but was looking at a posted menu. She gestured me in a direction to order but that was it. Once she realized I was new to this establishment, she walked me over to a kiosk and explained to me how to order and what my options were. Ordering on the kiosk was easy. Pricing was fair. The place isn't big but plenty for what they need. I sought out a table to sit and work but they were in need of being wiped down. There were only 2 other tables being used at the time and since it was after the lunch rush, I'd expect that the tables would've been cleaned. I had some wipes in my work bag so I took those out to wipe down a table so I could sit and work/eat. My pizza arrived in a decent amount of time. It was just ok. Nothing to write home about. Cute pizza place super convenient right across the street from Arena Sports Redmond that we dropped by after soccer with friends one weeknight. Not a lot of space for large parties but enough for small families. Orders were quick to come out- enjoyed our Thai flavored one (but maybe less cilantro next time?) along with the traditional cheese for our little one. It was a hot mess with 4 young kids btwn our two families but the kind older gentleman working made sure to check in on us and ask how we were doing several times which was so nice of him. One of the kids had an allergy and he remade the pizza for us without asking because he realized the wrong pan was used initially which we so appreciated. There were some old school arcade games in the back and lots of fun decor. How does this place only have a 4.2 on Yelp? I've been to Zaucer Pizza probably 20 times now. I work just around the corner, and while there are plenty of places to grab food nearby, these little pizzas are consistently worth it. The variety of topping options is fantastic, they offer two pizza sizes, a deep dish option, and even a dessert selection (do yourself a favor and try the Strawberry Sugar Cookie U.D.O.--it's my favorite). This past Friday, I had the chance to get to know the owner for the first time. I overheard him chatting with some older gentlemen at a nearby table about movies (I'm a big movie buff), and after they left, we ended up continuing the conversation. In that short time, I got to hear about how the business started, the challenges he's facing, his plans for the future--and of course, his love for sci-fi films (just like me). It was a great conversation, even though I accidentally kept him from closing up shop on time. Bottom line: Great people. Great food. Drove up and saw "Zaucer Pizza" where we thought "Flying Saucer..." should be. Though a little disappointed we decided to try it. Inside it looked exactly the same...ceph it now has (in addition to people) a kiosk. My wife started on that and I turned to the lady behind the counter and asked "what's your hottest pizza" (I'm not a heat nutter but do like some spice). When she said Ming the Mercilless was her favorite...my memory circuits started firing. I ask and she said yes it is the same Flying Saucer...they just had to change the name. The man and the woman working were the owners that opened it opened 20 years ago. Have 20 beers on tap. The pizza was awesome just like I remembered. Wife commented the cheese was really good and I think the crust is awesome. Had the cheese bread and it was great. Great tasting pizza! I ordered take out for dinner from this spot for the first time this evening and I was really impressed! The portions are pretty hefty. I got a personal build your own pizza and a side salad. I look forward to dining indoors only because the interior is really cool with Attack of the Aliens nostalgia and I'd like to check out more of their menu and brews on tap. Had been wanting to try this place for a long while. It was easy to make the order online, and when I went to pick it up, it was just out of the oven. I had ordered boneless wings but they gave me bone-in (apparently they were out of my preferred option). I probably wouldn't have bought them if I had known via the online order system, so the wings were my least favorite item. The pizza and garlic bread were both tasty. Really great and unique personal pizzas. We came for lunch and decided to eat in for the first time here. It's really easy to order with multiple self service screens for eat in or take out. Very on theme space decor and beer to make it a bit more interesting. These pizza thickness reminds me of the old school all you can eat pizza hut's. My favorite was the Thai take on pizza. So pleased to endorse this very local 'joint'. Very fun sci-fi theme developed over the years. Great personal or 'for two' sized pies that are consistent and made with care usually by the owners. I would note that these two have been thru all of the ups and downs that a pandemic can throw at them, and continue to succeed because THEY WORK THEIR ASSES OFF! You will always feel welcomed, and they continue to reinvent ways to serve you even as the typical labor force for a pizza joint has all but disappeared. It's been probably at least 5 months since I last ate here. Last night, I went back and this is one of the main reasons why... During Covid the business had shortened business hours. It was curbside service at the time. I went there for a pickup. The owner, had four 10' inch pizzas that a customer was not able pickup, and offered them to me at no additional cost. I tried to give him so money and a tip for them, he respectfully declined. He did not even have to do that, the gesture was very gracious. A gesture like that, will always stick with me forever. I will always support a local business like this. So about last night... I went back! This pizza is definitely the best Pizza on the east side, hands down the best! Pizza wasn't anything really special Burt was good. I enjoyed the decor. Took a long time to get the food. They served root beer floats right away and they were gone long before the pizzas arrived. Excellent customer service displayed by the owner. I have been going to Zaucer since 2019 and this place has never disappointed me with its pizzas! I had placed an order via DoorDash and when I received it, it was a little over cooked and burnt. Upon calling the restaurant I found out they had received a large order and might have re-baked accidentally, given they had only 2 employees in store. The owner apologized and re-made the pizza and was ok with us picking up at a later time. This is a very highly valued gesture in my opinion and ecstatic customer service. This is a place I have been wanting to try for years. I found this place when a friend in Kirkland was looking for a place to meet for lunch. We ended up not connecting, so I made note to get here when I was in the area. This place is the perfect example of a couple things. From the website, I expected a full-size pizza parlor, when in fact the place was actually pretty small. I also found the pizza to be less than impressive, but the service was so responsive and friendly, I'd still recommend these guys. I had a lunch special and for $10, it was a great deal. It was a tiny pizza equivalent to a slice and a small salad. The salad was super fresh. To be honest, my only complaint was that the dressing wasn't that tasty. The pizza had a thick crust, I'm assuming they have one crust, but since the pizza is so small, it's just thicker and I would assume that is so they don't have to use as much toppings. When I think of a great pizza it's a combination of 3 things. Good sauce, good crust and good toppings. The sauce here was good, but I could have used more, topping were okay, nothing special, but the crust tasted like day old bread. In any situation, the crust is what sets you apart. It's what made Pizza Hut famous and the reason why independent spots like this also get famous. If these people re-invented their crust, their stock would go up tremendously. The sauce had good flavor, but I could have used more of it, and possibly even more spice. The salad issue is easy to fix. Making fresh dressing is easy and affordable. That's something you could make weekly to prevent it from being a daily grind. The ranch dressing at Flying Pie in Issaquah is life changing! In addition, the crust and topping there are also top shelf. I don't say that to take away from Zaucer, just as a meter for them to gauge and a goal to improve their product. Like I said, I couldn't have been more impressed with the service and people and the fact that the website is so robust and complete, I expected a bigger presence, but it all proves that these are hard working people willing to go the extra mile. Had the service been spotty or less than polite, this would be a completely different review, but if these folks are willing to make some changes to items and prep, this place could be a million-dollar business and that is no stretch. read more

Zaucer wins again! We did four personal pizzas, cheesy bread and meatballs to feed three adults and two kids. Plenty of food and enough for lunch for two of us tomorrow! Today we ordered: Chickenator (my oldest kiddo loved it), Ming the Merciless (jalapenos were amazing), Black Hole (youngest kiddo was happy) and a Moons of Jupiter. All were good, I think the Ming was the best :) . I wanted one crowler but they let me sample the hard ciders and I couldn't choose, so I walked away with two crowlers of excellent cider.
