What a nice little place. I haven't been here for a while so we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast the other day. When we walked in we were instantly sat a table. It was a little busy but all the tables were clean and our waitress brought us water right away. I ended up ordering the Traditional which came with potatoes, 2 eggs, 4 sausage and 2 slices of toast. Everything was tasty, the eggs were tender, the sausage had great flavor, and the potatoes had nice crispness. The toast was also done perfectly without being doused in butter. My husband got the Miners scramble which basically came with everything topped with gravy and a side of toast. My husband said get this if you're hungry. It comes with a large portion thats hard to finish.. Very tasty.

Terry's is one of the best hearty breakfast and lunch places in Spokane, and I hadn't visited it in several years, but one of my sons and I were in the area and he's always hungry. I know some people would complain about how old and dingy the building and insides are, but they are welcome to go anywhere else to pay up for a more stylish place. You go Terry's to grub out, and we did just that. I did their reuben with soup, and took half of it home. My son did their miner's scramble and even our waitress and other staff members were shocked that he finished it. I wasn't lol! Prices are higher now, but they are everywhere. You might as well get a lot for your disposable income. :)

This is an old school diner . Great food quality, large generous portions, friendly service. If that is what you are looking for, then come here. If you are looking for a slice of orange and parsley on your plate, keep looking.

    Country fried steak ($13)

I came here on a Sunday at around 11am and it was packed. Luckily I got a spot on the counter for a party of one with a view of the open kitchen and the workers cooking. This is an old school diner and is very homey. Everyone is so friendly and there are a lot of repeat customers where people know each other. It's seriously a non-stop operation; one of the employees even said, "This is a wild ride!". I was so impressed with how everything works in the back to get the food in a timely manner; it looks hectic but they make it work well. I ordered the country fried steak ($13) which was very crunchy on the outside and nice and thin on the inside. The gravy complemented the steak very well and the eggs were nicely cooked the way I wanted. I would've preferred the hash browns to be more crispy but it wasn't too bad, and they give a lot of them. If you haven't already read the other reviews, they give A LOT of food here and the portions are huge. I couldn't eat all the hash browns and I only ate a half of one slice of bread. You will definitely not leave hungry. I would love to try some of their other popular dishes like their omelettes or scrambles.

The inside as shown in my picture is very charming and old timey. Allow time to wait for a table unless you are just one or two like I was and able to grab a seat at the bar. I was able to sit immediately. The staff is very amiable and the hostess made the recommendation that I try the Caprese Benedict, which had fried tomatoes in place of bread, fresh basil and blood orange balsamic drizzle. They offer the option of one or two Benedict, which is nice if you aren't super hungry. They also give the option to smother the hashbrowns and cheese, which I obviously opted into. The menu is absolutely massive though, so if Benedict's or even breakfast aren't your jam, you should be able to find something that suits your fancy. Also worth noting that they offer a very wide variety of gourmet flavors of house-made juices (7 or 8) for mimosas, like honeydew melon mint which I tried as a soda with soda water since I was driving.

Come for the food, but stay for the hospitality!…read more We went on Mother's Day this past weekend and expected a crazy wait. To our surprise, we were seated almost immediately after my wife was given a rose! There's something about wood in restaurants and homes that just makes me feel so warm. You just can't beat this type of ambiance, and this Elmer's has a lot of unpainted wood! On to the food! My wife had the German pancake with fruits on it, her aunt had the Oregon trail steak, and I had a Reuben. The German pancake was unlike anything we've ever tasted. It was light like a crepe, but held its own shape like a traditional pancake. The fruits added a wonderful freshness to the plate. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned appropriately. Not much to say other than it was a good steak for the price! The Reuben was tasty. My only criticism throughout our entire experience at Elmer's was that I wish there was more thousand island on that sandwich. Now, I don't normally write reviews, but I found it incredibly important to draft one up for this restaurant for the staff's honestly. We forgot a pair a Ray Bans at our booth when we left the restaurant, and one of their workers came running after us waaaay into the parking lot to return them. Other people would just pocket it or put it in their lost and found. Not these employees. They will literally chase you down to return your personal belongings. Fantastic experience overall that could've used just a little more thousand island dressing

It has since become a semi regular place for us when we're looking for breakfast or lunch of the sort that ends up being just about the only meal we'll eat that day. I can't recommend it from experience, but Green Eggs & Ham is what really put Hoot Owl on the map. But for my money, it doesn't get much better than their Ranch Burger. Breakfast or lunch, that's my go to along with an endless cup of coffee and tall glass of ice water. Whoever decided to mix ranch dressing and barbecue sauce deserves and Nobel effing Peace Prize. My wife has tried a number of their omelette and scramble offerings and never been disappointed. And then there's the cinnamon rolls. Brace yourself because it's literally the size of your face. Dripping in frosting and served with roughly half a cube of whipped butter, the cinnamon roll is an event unto itself, and definitely a prime item for sharing with the table. The atmosphere is very cozy and...Rural. It feels like something out of a period film; very down to earth and eclectic with lots of owl knickknacks all over the place. If you've a bad back or bad posture, I'd recommend a table over a booth as the booths are a little short in the seat and very straight backed. Parking is usually not bad, even when they're busy (which is often), but it's in a dirt lot that shares its real estate with a drive through coffee shack. Lots of potholes at the entrance, so depending upon your vehicle, get ready to slalom a bit. The restaurant offers free WiFi to guests and is relatively kid friendly with plenty of high chairs, decks of cards at the table, etc. Service has always been friendly and expedient. They recently started tacking on a 3% surcharge for card transactions, but if you pay cash you get a discount...Of 3%. Heh. Anyway, if you're in the area and you want a big meal at a decent price, this place is fantastic. Forgot to mention prices, but a half pound specialty burger with fries ranges $13-$16, and similar pricing on other entree menu items. Get you some.
