The shaved snow is amazing and hard to come by in the area! The portion is generous. You can pick 1-2 flavors, 2 toppings, and a drizzle. The shaved snow is creamy and melts in your mouth. There is no icy texture. Apparently they freeze the flavors in blocks ahead of time so they can shave it when ordered, which is so smart. We were wondering how the orders were prepared so fast. Because of the texture it melts pretty quickly so I would recommend eating it there. They have a few tables inside. Our group stayed and chatted for awhile and we felt welcome. Thanks to Social media, I found out about their Vietnamese Coffee (specialty drink) where you can add some cream foam and additional (coffee) jelly! I've been craving soft ice or the mian mian bing texture ever since summer so glad we found this place. Other places I've tried around the area had cute toppings and presentation but coarser ice which was disappointing. We also ordered a lychee slush which was refreshing and oolong tea with pearls at 25 percent sugar and no ice. The guy at the counter was patient when I was considering all the options. So glad the owners decided to finally reopen! Some changes include a new location and no more banh mis. The new location is more towards the west end of Henrico which is a lot more convenient esp for those who do some weekly groceries at New Grand! There's also a small, but spacious seating area inside for those that choose to dine in. I came by during opening week and tried their green thai tea and pandan shaved ice with fruity pebbles, lychee jelly, and condensed milk drizzle. The green thai tea had a pretty strong bitter after taste, which I can see some people being turned off by but I didn't mind too much. It was sweet, rich and had a strong tea flavor. The pandan shaved ice was my personal favorite. It's hard to find pandan flavored desserts in the Richmond/Henrico area so I'm glad there are more diverse Asian flavors offered. It had just the right amount of sweetness and pandan flavor/fragrance. I also like the added crunch of the fruity pebbles. So thankful that a friend recommended Zen Cafe to cater the boba bar for our daughter's engagement party! Brandon was professional, on-time and attentive. My daughter and fiancée even had a tasting there beforehand and selected three types of teas (oolong milk tea and taro with the tapioca boba and white peach tea with aloe vera jelly). Brandon delivered teas in disposable gallon containers, provided plenty of boba and jelly, and gave great instructions so that the tapioca boba wouldn't harden or stick (put it in a crock pot on low and stir occasionally). He brought extra ice, straws, cups and slotted ladles and provided instructions for making the perfect bubble teas. It was such a relief since I'm not a boba drinker and wasn't sure how to make this work. It was a hit with so many compliments. Even the most particular boba drinkers enjoyed it.
