This had really high ratings on google and we were looking for a bubble tea spot on a cold and rainy day to go to after picking up my friends best friend. Their top drinks the milk tea and the taro milk tea are pre made. This was a mistake and I probably should not have ordered it... But I did anyways. This has been my go to boba place before most people on the east coast even knew what boba was! I happened to find this spot from a friend around 2010 while attending VCU in my early years. I've tried many other places around, such as Domeishi and boba from restaurants and they pale in comparison based on quality, as well as price. If I am ever around, I make sure I stop by to help support a business with a high-quality product. You won't be disappointed, and each time you come, you can try one of their over 50 flavors! It turns out they actually have the best bubble tea in the Richmond area - which honestly isn't saying very much considering the standard around here - but it's still pretty damn good and service is really nice as well. Come and give them a try if you like Boba, because you might be thrilled by their milk tea and turned on by their lemon black tea like I was. I came down to Richmond along with my mom to help my sister and her boyfriend move into an apt for school this year. So this place is close to where she will be living and I decided to try it because I love boba (most the reviews were very good, so I had to try it). In my honest opinion after boba became mainstream the quality at some places like Kung fu tea, Kokee tea or anyone of these chain boba places has went down a lot. So it's hard to find good boba, unless you know someone or take a chance like I did. I got the taro slushie with boba and it was pretty dang good. I love taro to begin with but making it as a slushie is some next level stuff. Especially with Virginia hot and muggy one-minute to raining the next weather. At other boba places when they add ice to it (sometimes too much) It gets watered down if you don't drink it right away. With the slush version there's no need to worry about it being watered down and it's just as delicious when it melts. If you're in the Richmond-VCU area I would definitely recommend this place because it's a cute little space for you to hang out during classes and enjoy some delicious milk teas. I'm kinda jealous they don't have this in NoVA or Blacksburg. read more

My absolute favorite place to get boba tea in the Richmond area! The seating area was so cozy, relaxing, and colorful. They have many flavors for boba, milk tea, a slushie, and coffee. The staff working there was super friendly. I got the honeydew boba tea and it was made perfectly, not too watery, and slushie or sweet like other places I've been too. There's a small table and you can buy a package of ramen and eat it there too; it makes me feel like I'm in one of those k-dramas from the whole atmosphere. Highly recommended! read more

Holy smokes! What a cup of delicious boba tea! I was walking through campus on my way to the museums when I had this craving for a boba tea. I don't have high expectations for Boba​ but boy did this blow me away. I have this favorite drink from a place called "Happy Lemon" which consist of a mix of​ lemon and mango. I noticed that the person in front of me mixed 2 flavors. I thought it would be a fun idea to mix "Lemon" and "Mango". It turned out to be the best decision ever! It tasted similar to my favorite drink and hit the spot. I dare you to try it! If you don't like it, I'll pay for your drink. The owners are nice people and are masters of​ their craft. The shop is small but cute for a hangout or chit-chats with friends. I almost walked right past it since the sign wasn't that visible. I was with my friends and most of us never been there so we told the owner we're new to this place so he was telling us about his business and giving us information about boba and the tapioca before we ordered so we know what we are gettin. For the past 8 years that I've lived in Richmond, TT Lounge was one of the only bubble tea places here. A couple places have come and gone. I've recently tried the newer chain bubble tea places, but am still never happy. TT Lounge has always been my favorite. I love their vast selection of teas and slushes. You can combine flavors, make milk teas into slushes, or any other combination. The staff is very accommodating. They can be a little rude at times, but I just think they're more straight forward, so I don't mind it. My favorite things here are -Thai Tea slush -mango slush -royal milk tea, -and my boyfriend's favorite Strawberry mango slush. We get all of these with boba (tapioca balls). Let me start off by saying that the service here was great! The man behind the counter was extremely helpful and patient with us. I ordered a thai iced tea with boba which was good. However, It tasted just a bit watered down which might've been due to the amount of ice cubes that was put in the drink. By luck, the boba was just made when we walked into the store, so it was very soft and basically had the perfect texture. I also tried my friend's order which was the jasmine milk tea w boba. It had a very subtle, refreshing flavor which I enjoyed. I also sampled a bit of the passion tea slush, and that was actually amazing. I personally love passion fruit and thought the drink encompassed the flavor of the actual fruit really well. It was the perfect balance of sweet & tangy. Definitely recommend! read more

TT Lounge takes the cake for Boba tea! They offer it hot, cold, and frozen (slush). I went with some friends and it was very quick, friendly service. Such a better choice than going to king fu tea. TT Lounge was always my go to place for boba for the past 7 years. They have a multitude of flavors to choose from and they are all great. Unfortunately I'm disappointed during this pandemic era. I've gone twice in the past few months and each time they were not wearing a mask. Yet they require the customer to wear a mask and they do take other covid precautions. It seems wrong to not protect your customers by simply wearing a mask. I would go much more often if correct precautions were taken. Public Service Announcement: this place only serves powder. If you're a true boba lover and purist who loves the real tea aspect of your drink, then TT Lounge is not for you. This place is a straight powder drink server and the tapioca tastes old. I've spent quite a while staring at the review box trying to come up with a witty intro or fun way to tie into a review, but after about 10 minutes, all I can say is that TT Lounge is damn good. --Food: All the boba tea I've had in Richmond thus far has been in the form of either a slushie or a smoothie. Not that it's a bad thing, but I've been searching for a more "tea"-like beverage and TT Lounge has just that. They have Slushies too though, so if you want that, you can have that as well! Per suggestion of a fellow Yelper who I believe knows a thing or two about boba, I went with the Milk Tea, specifically Mango. I'm not sure I've had milk tea before but the taste was great. Slightly creamy and slightly sweet, it's sort of what I'd imagine drinking the offspring of a cup of tea and a creamsicle would taste like, in a non-gross way. (Not that I condone the consumption of offspring!) Alright, maybe that's not quite a good analogy, but the drink was darn good. If you like a non-strong tea flavor and a non overwhelming milk flavor, give it a try. I have been told and saw that TT Lounge uses powder tea instead of actually brewing their tea, which to me isn't a big issue, but is true in reviews that knock it for that. To me, if it tastes good, it tastes good. And this was good. Also worth mentioning is the consistency of the boba (tapioca pearls). A couple places I've tried around here either had really firm boba or boba that was hard in the middle. I'm not sure if those other places just aren't cooking it long enough or what, but the boba in TT Lounge is far superior. It's chewy but not hard and tastes fantastic. It also fits through the straws better than some other places in RVA. --Cost: A Milk Tea and Slushie, both with boba, came to about $8.50 I think. Not the cheapest, but like another review mentions, it's worth the extra dollar for good boba. --Atmosphere: The interior has some mismatched furniture and a variety of types of tables to sit at. Seems like what you'd end up with if you went to a gently used furniture sale and bought what you thought would fit in an area you had to fill. Is that a problem? Not at all. Does it catch you offguard when you walk in, not expecting that? A little. Side note, parking is a little hard during the busy part of a school day, but manageable. --Service: People have mentioned the rudeness of the staff here, but I didn't notice. I will agree with anyone saying that they weren't bursting with friendliness, but they weren't mean or disrespectful in any way. Drinks were made and presented within a few minutes. --Overall: I have yet to find another place that offers Tea / Milk Tea varieties of Boba in RVA. I'm sure there are some, but I haven't found them. The slushie and smoothie kinds are good enough, but I wanted something that's better than "good enough". The Mango Milk Tea I had here at TT's was fantastic and I even told my fiancee that if I ever go to campus with her again, I'm stopping by here. read more

I had the greatest experience here. I live in Virginia Beach but am from Rva and just started coming home to visit a lot recently. I've been trying every boba place I can find until I can one I really like since the boba place I got to in Virginia Beach isn't in rva. First off customer service 1000/10- The sweetest older gentleman was in there (going to assume he was the owner). I asked for my boba extra sweet (every place I've tried the tea has been bitter and basically watered down) he asked if I was sure and I said yes and then he genuinely explained to me what made his boba different from the places I've tried and how the sweetness may be different. He then proceeded to give me two samples of two different boba's to try to see my "sweetness level". like sir, thank you for genuinely caring about if I enjoy my boba or not, most boba places could honestly care less if you enjoy it or not (from experience). I then proceeded to order a drink for my sister and as he was about to hand me my drinks he asked me how far away it was for me to get to my sister and I said about 10 to 15 minutes, he then went back to grab a bag and fill it with ice to put my sisters drink on ice, how thoughtful is that? Boba experience 2000/10 Exactly what I asked for. I loved that he took the time to actually understand what it was that I wanted and the quality of the boba and tea is top tier !!!!! the boba is nice and fresh and the tea !!! the tea is actual tea and not flavored water with a bunch of ice. Please if you're thinking about visiting please do! I was looking for Boba Tea and this did not disappoint. My daughter went and picked it up for me. Before I even tasted it, I was impressed with the way they prepped for a ToGo. The top is sealed so it won't leak, and it was placed in a bag of ice to keep it cool. Impressive send well thought out. And when I tasted it ... yummmm. The Boba is fresh and the taste is perfect! There are couches, chairs, and tables to lounge around while sipping on your drink. Cool place to just chill. Updated: This place is about a 15 minute walk from where I work. got there about 12:20 and they were still closed. Someone was inside getting things ready. Waited 10 more minutes and still no go. The lady behind the counter is nice and conversational, I read other reviews that describe her being curt, but she's just being real when talking about the flavors and what not. Love this place!! And yea, like Trish said, people drive from ALL OVER to go here. I know UVA (1-1.5 hrs away) people make the treck from Charlottesville on the regular and most of my out-of-town friends wouldn't dream of making a trip to Richmond without stopping by here. The bubble tea is perfect...the flavor of the drink itself and the texture and flavor of the boba and that almost goes without saying for Richmonders, so now Ill move on to something else. Come here and get a Taro (one of the best sellers...has a slightly cocoa-like taste, ironically enough) milk tea (slush is really good too, but milk tea is the original) with boba . We love boba so when we found this place while visiting Richmond, we had to try it. Hubby got the Thai Tea flavor and liked it. I got taro after seeing all the great reviews on here and it definitely lived up to the hype. Delicious! In fact, so good that hubby got a taro one to go before we left. They graciously packed it in ice which I thought was really going the extra mile for the customer. My boys got mango and green apple slushes with jelly instead of boba.
