It was very easy to get an appointment with Hai. Getting processed for my first appointment took a little while. Like any professional business i(massage) he needed to know issues and pains through minor paperwork. Zen Wellness was nicely designed to be efficient with many rooms with relaxing atmospheres. Hai communicated with me about his pressure throughout my massage. I felt extremely comfortable with his techniques. I would recommend him and Zen Wellness --Location-- Don't be worried. Zen cannot control the homeless people you might see. My car was perfectly safe the whole time I was parked. I was not approached by any of them. Hai did ask them to move along. I guess they come by the locations in that area collecting bottles and cans. They were not camped out there but just a few of them getting their cans. I loved my experience here! I came in because I had just gotten back from a long work trip and had so many connecting flights. Neck and shoulders were hurting so bad, it even hurt to look at my blind spot while driving. During the intake they take their time to actually have a conversation with you about your concerns and target areas. They are also very transparent on cost. The day of my appointment, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the place, it felt like I was transported to a different country. The vibe, the smell, the sounds instantly relaxed me and I knew I was in for a treat. My massage therapist is Hai, it's my first time having a male massage therapist but he put me to ease. He is very knowledgeable, respectful and professional. He was able to explain different types of massages and help me choose which is the right one for me. That's another thing I like about this place is that they make you fill out a paper that helps both you and them understand what goal and type of massage you want. I ended up getting a mix between a Swedish and deep tissue massage and I added hot stones. The massage was phenomenal. Hai used a variety of techniques that truly helped relieve the years and years of knots in my back. I truly appreciate that he was very attentive to me to make sure that the pressure and the temperature of the stones were perfect. He listened to my preferences and was able to work out a lot of the knots that has been really bothering me for years. Even before the massage ended I already know that I will not only keep coming back to this place but I will also take my family and friends. This will now be a part of my wellness treat myself routine I will do for myself. Overall, I had an amazing experience and I will definitely come back. For the cost, I did a 90 minute massage for $119 and hot stone for $20 and tip. A very much deserved tip. This is probably one of the times I may have spent a little bit more on a massage but it was so very worth it. And looking back, the pricing that they have is very worth it and not bad at all. When I lived closer here, I used to come see Kat for trigger point massages or deep tissue full body massages regularly. The first time I had so many knots and excruciating back and neck pain but Kat worked sooo hard to relieve all of that in one session and I left feeling so much better than that I've been a repeat customer since. I admit, I am surprised at my experience given the raving reviews and recommendations to try this spot out. In the interest of fairness, I'll share what I look for and like in a deep tissue massage/experience before expanding on what I received: I value a thorough, intentional, and slow progression through the muscle groups without undue pain/mistreatment to your spine or neck. I appreciate a peaceful and temperature-comfortable environment, ambient nature sounds and music make no difference to me. I had the woman therapist, I believe her name was Kat. She was overall kind in her interactions. I ultimately felt my experience was more like clothes being scrubbed on a washboard, fast and a little disorganized. While she did attend to the areas i indicated on the sheet, I couldn't relax under the intense, almost painful pressure she gave to my neck, but then was lacking on my lower back. Some movements completed on one side of my back were not completed on the other side. Getting the oil was accompanied by the lid loudly clattering on the counter EVERY single time, and it kept me on edge given the overall massage experience. I couldn't stay warm, and coupled with another ointment that was oddly cold, my hands and feet got really clammy and ultimately, I couldn't relax. I used the sheets to wipe some parts of my body of the extra oil afterwards (haven't had to do this before), but towels were used to clean my knees and below within the massage. Aside from preferences where we may simply not align, my one legitimate complaint is that I felt her nails were on the longer side because that was the primary sensation throughout the entire massage. I understand if some folks may think I'm nitpicking, but I think these are things that just stand out when you realize you can't relax and feel at peace during a massage or after. Ultimately, I'm keeping it at two stars because most of my target areas got a decent massage, but how we got there is not for me.
