We've experienced Zeppoli twice: once as takeout a few years ago, and once dining in recently. The takeout we had was absolutely delicious. Delicate pastas, balanced flavors. Good enough being devoured in our own home that we definitely understood why this spot was hyped by so many people we knew. Unfortunately, when we dined in, the food was such a departure from that previous experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sure, the service was good, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere is something that would work for both a special date night or a casual night out with friends[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food was too underwhelming to ignore. The gnocchi, which I remembered being light and puffy in the past, were so incredibly rich, dense, and cheesy. The richness of the brown butter the gnocchi were resting on was over the top. The dish was just way too heavy to enjoy. I've never wanted an acidic wine more to cut through. We had the same issue with the Tagliatelli al Limone. So incredibly oily. Surrounding the main courses, the appetizers and desserts were the actual highlights. Their bread is wonderful and the Panzanella Catania was really nice. Their gelato is really good, and their cannoli are worth ordering, as well. It's just a shame that the pasta dishes-the thing we were most looking forward to-ended up being so disappointing. So, ultimately, we're batting .500 with Zeppoli. We will likely return, and I'm optimistic that our next visit will hit the spot a little more. Can so many people be wrong? I doubt it. I just think we caught them at a bad moment. Or at least I hope that's the situation. We'll find out soon enough.

5 stars no hesitation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This small, dimly lit, cozy Italian establishment is the perfect intimate setting for date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came for the name, and the Zeppoli's were fantastic -- perfectly lightly fried dusted with sugar and melt in your mouth delectability. However we did not expect to have some of the best, most authentic gnocchis I've had. These large plump pillows were flufffy perfection, spinach and herbs embedded into the dough. My only complaint is that I did not have more! The sous chef knew us from town and gave us utmost excellent treatment with a wonderful dessert and a flavorful antipasto starter.

Very much enjoyed our early, Sunday supper at Zeppoli. Our 4-top BYO'd some white wine and beer and decided to go with the "4 courses (salad/appetizer, pasta side, meat/fish entree, dessert) for $75.00" so we could taste/share as many dishes as possible. The complimentary bread basket with dish of olives/olive oil was everything: came with three types of bread: (1) one of the best tomato pies I've ever had, (2) a fluffy focaccia, and (3) a dense olive-oily bread. All together, we tried the: Salad/appetizers: - Gamberetti e Fagioli (whole shrimp sauteed with garlic, parsley, lemon, chili, served over cannellini beans) - Panzanella Catania (tomato and bread salad with capers, Sicilian white anchovies)--highly recommend this dish, so flavorful! - Finocchi Salsiccia (housemade fennel sausage, broccoli rabe)--delicious, if slightly salty. - Special: Burrata--wished it had a little more salt. Pastas: - Gnocculi alla' Argentiera (spinach and ricotta gnocchi topped with Sicilian caciocavallo)--giant pillowy gnocchi! - Tagliatelli al Limone (housemade pasta with lemon topped with prosciutto)--such well-made pasta with a light lemon sauce - Rigatoni alla Disgraziata (mezze rigatoni with eggplant, tomato, ricotta salata and basil-breadcrumbs)--highly recommend this dish, so flavorful! - Pesto Trapanese (Sicilian-style fusilli pasta with almond-pistachio pesto from the town of Trapani)--loved the Sicilian-style extra-long fusilli! Entrees: - Pollo di Sicani (half-roasted free range chicken with rosemary, garlic, lemon and cippolini argodolce)--chicken was moist and well seasoned - Sicilian Fisherman Stew (mixed Mediterranean seafood stew with saffron and Tunisian couscous)--delicious, but wish it was served with bread for sopping up the delicious broth! - Coniglio Pizzaiola (stewed rabbit with tomato, fresh oregano with rosemary oven roasted potatoes) - Special fish steamed in paper Desserts: - Zeppoli Siciliano - Torta Cioccolato e Mandole - Cannoli Classico--shell was thinner/crispier than expected, but the pistachio sugar was nice [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was timely and friendly, lighting was dim, chairs were slightly uncomfortable for a 4-course meal, but would definitely recommend a visit![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

What can I say? This "neighborhood" spot is not the usual. It's a special treat, yet nearby. Excellent, attentive service. Delicious menu with flavors. Small and cozy. Yes, I'll be back to see you Chef Joey Baldino. Maybe at Zeppoli, maybe at Palizzi!

Zeppoli had been on our list to try for several years. It is not easy to get a reservation because of the great reviews. Zeppoli constantly shows up as one of top Italian restaurants in the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas. The space is small but has ample parking behind the restaurant. Zeppoli is located in West Collingswood and not in the downtown area on Haddon Ave. It is across the street from La Beiruit. The inside is small and charming but loud as to be expected. The service and food was very good. It definitely lived up to expectations and the hype. The squid ink pasta was probably the best we have ever had. Everything was delicious, flavorful and excellent. The only problem or problems we had was when checking the menu on Zeppoli's web page there was a prix fixe and a la carte option and prices listed for both options. However, upon arrival on a Sunday night we were told only the prix fixe options were available. Not a big deal, but this could have been clarified on the web site. Appetizer, pasta and dessert is $45.00 and appetizer, main and dessert is $55.00. Add $10 for the steak. Not inexpensive but not outrageous for the quality of food. If you want additional bread it is an extra $5.00. This is worth it as the bread was home made and delicious. 4.5 Yelp stars for Zeppoli and we would definitely go back.

We had the full four-course meal to celebrate a special occasion. The food and service were amazing! The standouts were the shrimp with cannellini beans appetizer, the lemon pasta, pesto pasta, swordfish, and seafood stew. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate almond cake and the lemon panna cotta cake, which we had to take to go, because we were too full! Everything truly was phenomenal.

Prime time dinner slots were hard to come by, but I managed to snag my husband and I a 6:30pm reservation for Sunday dinner. Going into dinner, I had high hopes for Zeppoli. Inside, it was casual but intimate. There were about 11 tables. For dinner, Zeppoli offers a 3-course dinner for $55, or if you're hungry, a 4-course dinner for $75. We saw people around us who ordered the 4-course dinner, and their entrée courses were massive. Ribeye steaks, whole fish, half roasted chicken, etc -- the 4-course dinner truly is a great deal. We decided to go with the 3-course dinner anyway. For our first course, I had the Whole Shrimp sauteed with garlic, while my husband had the Tomato and bread salad with capers and Sicilian white anchovies. Salad was pretty good, but the whole shrimp was amazing. You have to get that. After the whole shrimp, everything started to go downhill. For our pastas, my husband and I both had the same pasta course -- the Tagliatelli al Limone topped with Sicilian bottarga, a salted cured fish roe. The dish itself would have been perfect if not for the excess lemon juice. The pasta was way too sour to enjoy. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake, and my husband had the Zeppoli Siciliano. The Zeppoli Siciliano were two perfect zeppolis sitting on top of Nutella spread and was good. The chocolate cake was disappointing. It was like a poorly made brownie with cream on top. I will not be getting the chocolate cake next time.

We loved everything about this wonderful restaurant. The minute we walked in and was welcomed like family.[[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is rustic, romantic and music makes you feel like you are in Italy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]The food is absolutely amazing, so delicious I finished each four courses . Service was outstanding as we were never rushed and each course came out in an appropriate time hot and delicious. Over all I can not say enough of how wonderful and how much we enjoyed and loved our dinner and can't wait to go back ! Thank goodness my outfit was loose .I wish I could rate the review a 100 ! Yes it was that wonderful!

I have no idea what it was called, but the one that was slightly spicy and had a similar flavor to a Mexican salsa was a surprise and a delight. I loooooooved the fluffy bread that was served to the table. Fresh, steaming hot, and the perfect utensil for testing out the dips. I'm not sure what it was called - it wasn't a pita, I don't think, since it was much lighter. But 10/10, no notes, give me 14 of them. I was craving beef, so I went for the shish kebab. Hands down, one of the most memorable I've had in a very long time. So tender. I loved the perfectly grilled vegetables. I absolutely loved adored the rice - so well seasoned, light and fluffy. Finally, baklava. I would say this was my only disappointment. The serving was miniscule. Service was lovely.

It was a chance to refresh from the heat and grab a bite. With all the choice of restaurants, we did not choose well. The three of us were in there almost an hour to have lunch. Two of us ordered the shrimp kebab entrees, one ordered the chicken kebab. It took almost half an hour for those to come out. The shrimp plate had only THREE shrimp! For $21. The chicken plate had FOUR small pieces of chicken. Service was terrible and the food was just OK, although the vegetables were good. The surprise came when the bill was delivered. They do not provide change!!! If you pay a $61 check with a $100 bill, or any bills greater than the amount, you get nothing back! They just presume that's what you want to tip! I never heard of such a thing. We didn't have a lot of small bills with us after shopping at the festival, and had not expected such an absurd policy. So we paid as they requested, with exact change to meet the bill. The waiter got himself a 96 cent tip. No manager was available to ask why there was such a ridiculous policy. None of us would ever ever ever go back to this restaurant ever again. There are so many good restaurants over there, my suggestion is to try anywhere else.

Meh Mediterranean in a daycare setting…read more Before I even reached the door, the walls of a crying infant arose from a family dining al fresco at Norma's in Cherry Hill. Restless little ones blocked the entry, setting the tone for my overall Saturday evening experience. That Norma's is popular, there can be no doubt. We had no reservations, and felt lucky to snag a table. The place was bustling, servers had their hands full, we were obliged to be patient until ours arrived. I love Norma's menu -- my partner is vegetarian, so Mediterranean works great for us. I went the veggie route as well, starting with a lentil and ckickpea soup that was hot and savory and the high point of my meal. Other appetizers we enjoyed were the spanikopita and the cheese manaeesh, second to none. My veggie skewer was perfectly charred yet light. After such a promising start, then, our entrees came as quite a disappointment. My partner opted for the falafel salad, and while Norma's falafel are indeed superior, the salad was a bit of a mess, too ... wet, diluting the dressing, leaving runny runoff on the plate. But the greatest misfire wss the mixed kabobs entree I ordered. Everything about it was underwhelming -- these are signature items that should be stand+outs, but weren't. The kabobs were just okay, lacking in appeal, resting on a bed of rice that was unremarkable except for how cold it was. I suspect my plate had been held too long. I know they would have fixed it had I asked -- but seriously, I was up to *here* with all the kids. While I was eating, a woman behind me gathered up her gaggle of tots, squeezing out of the way to make room for a baby carriage the size of a Volkswagen. Does Norma's deserve a second chance? Sure. Next time, I'll stick with the appetizers and stay close to my wine glass lest the kindergarteners in my vicinity cause my nerves to fray.
