A little dishonest in my opinion to charge more for a prefixe menu than if you were to order each dish individually. Food portions were good but small. "Extra" charges tacked onto our bill at the end that I had to address. I understand that COVID hit businesses hard, but I do think being honest with your customers and allowing your food and service to shine through, and having your customers do their part (tip, returning, take out, etc) to support is important as well. read more

PSA: Don't bother agreeing to a late reservation. Our party of 4 showed up for an 8:45 reservation and were told it would be 5-10 minutes, as a table of 4 was just finishing up. Because there is no free space to stand in the restaurant, and because it was approximately 110 degrees inside, we opted to wait outside. Ten minutes later, we came back in and were told the bill had been paid so it should just be another minute. We peeked our heads inside here and there, and the table of 4 continued drinking wine, looking at their phones, talking, etc. No sign of them leaving. We figured we would give it another 10 minutes. Still nothing. I would think the restaurant would have asked the group to vacate because a reservation was behind them, but apparently Zeppoli is swimming in profits and did not need our business. At 9:15, we were hungry, it was late, and this is a restaurant that closes at 10pm, so we asked them to cancel the reservation so we could move on. An apology was offered, and a promise made that if we called back on any day we would get seated right away, but if we could not be seated with a reservation we'd had for a month, where did they plan on seating us at a moment's notice? I was looking forward to crossing this off of my to-try list, but we will not be back. read more

Actually, the food was pretty much excellent. It's their reservation policy that bugs me. Looked at the menu prior to going, and was psyched for lemon pasta and a rib eye steak. Would have cost $39. But Zeppoli insists that parties of six or more MUST order the tasting menu - $80/person. I consider such an effort to boost revenue a total rip! They threw all these plates at us, but mostly with only enough for one or two bites each per person. In the end, the 'tasting menu' left me with no memory at all of the taste of any of the courses. Adding insult to my shellfish allergy, I was compensated with a fennel salad, while everyone else was chomping on prawns and mussels. (Of course, with one fewer eater participating, my friends may actually have had almost enough of those dishes.) It would have been appropriate to provide me with something much more comparable. For example, since there was only one bite of fennel sausage for me in the original serving, they could have given me a few more in lieu of the allergens. Then, certainly, they could serve fewer of each to the rest of the table, so, y'know, they wouldn't go bankrupt. read more

Living in South Jersey, there seems to be hundreds of Italian restaurants to choose from. One of the only authentic Sicilian places to eat in South Jersey is Zeppoli, which is opened and run by James Beard award winner Joey Baldino. The food is absolutely decadent, with each dish including more flavor and texture after the next. Some of the favorites form the night were the pesto pasta, anti pasta platter and spinach ricotta gnocchi. Along with the food being incredible, the staff are all super friendly and welcoming. The whole restaurant has a warm vibe which creates for an authentic Italian experience all around. I will definitely return to Zeppoli, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great Italian meal. read more

Went on Wed, the 18th for my boyfriend's birthday. It is quite small, but I think it adds to the appeal and charm of the restaurant. The servers (3 of them) all shared all of the tables and so there was never a moment where we weren't attended to. There was live Italian music by 2 musicians and it just topped off the night. Our servers were knowledgeable about the menu and never pushy about how long we took or what we ordered. And the food??? OMG!! Probably the BEST Italian food I've ever had. Ever. Zeppoli won me over from the minute I walked inside! Very authentic little spot with italian cuisine that is hard to find. The pesto took the lead for me, what an awesome dish they have. Nutty, earthy, and savory, this may be one of the best pesto's I have ever had! We dined in during covid, so there was unfortunately a limited menu, but the broccoli rabe with sausage was very authentic (it's bitter so if you aren't a fan of that don't order it) and I loved my dessert. I'm blanking on the name but it was a jelly like cake with kiwi and blackberries and it was refreshing yet satisfied my sweet tooth. Definitely will be back again to try the rest!! read more

i really wanted to like zeppoli...it's fresh and traditional.. but its way too expensive and their weekend coursing requirement just threw me off at the end and made me feel ripped off. we go in knowing that on weekends they do 3 courses for $55, or 4 courses for $65. BUT, they do not specify how this works ahead of time. so my husband and i picked an app, pasta, and entree thinking we'd do 3 courses and no dessert....$55 per person. well we order ...the fish or steak were another $10...ok fine, $65 pp... and then they say "dessert is included"...and we were so confused, but didn't think anything of it. later we find out that you either get an app, a pasta and dessert for $55, OR an app, 1/2 pasta, entree and dessert for $65. so you can't skip dessert. basically, unless you want to pay $55 for pasta for dinner.... if you want an entrée from this place on a weekend...you get suckered into an app, pasta, and dessert that you may or may not want, and it ends up being too much food. also, my fish came with literally 3 tiny slices of potatoes and 3 slices of zucchini. my husbands steak came with a small arugula salad with one slice of tomato on it. i added up what we got compared to the menu listed on their website and it would have been $118 instead of $187 before tip. unreal. also, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable. wont be back read more

It's not just dinner, it's an intimate meal and BYOB setting that isn't only for romantics. I would definitely say this is a place to bring your inner circle for great food and conversation. The lighting is dim, the room is small and a reservation is a must. The tea light lit tables aren't fancy and it has plain wooden tables that are generic but done on purpose. Servers (2-3) understand their menu and since they aren't overworked as you would see in a crowded noisy place they are much more in tune with patrons. For starters the complimentary bread is every bit of delicious. The focaccia has a contradictory texture of crispness on top but moist the on the bottom. It is served with olives and an olive oil. Our special appetizer was one of the anchovy starters that was served with roasted red peppers. My husband was a bigger fan of this dish than I was but still, it met my expectations. Drinks can be BYOB but since it skipped our minds to bring wine we ordered the lemon aid that is for 2 people. It was served in a pitcher and was tangy and less sour than I would have expected. It was refreshing and a pitcher carried us on throughout the course of our meal. The salad we had was light: giant juicy red tomatoes, a bread that was soaked with flavor-fulness and cucumber on top of arugula. It was our pre-game before the entree. For our next course, I had the fusilli pasta in a pesto pistachio sauce. My husband had the rabbit with rosemary oven roasted potatoes. The rabbit was moist and it fell off like silk away from the bone. Dessert was three Zeppoli doughnuts and a rich milk chocolate sauce. Wow. What a find. This is not your typical meal - so be advised you need a reservation in order to get a table. We made our reservation a few weeks in advance. Once you walk in you automatically get a great feel for the type of service and knowledge the staff has of the menu. You are encouraged to ask questions to learn more and to ensure the server will recommend the right dish for your appetite. We started with 3 apps: antipasto (see picture), grilled shrimp, and fennel sausage. All were amazing. The antipasto was one of the best spreads I have ever seen. For the pasta course we had the gnocchi. Again, out of this world. For mains we had the rabbit and the swordfish. See pictures below. I couldn't believe how amazing the food and service were. Working in the restaurant industry, I'm weary of writing reviews, as I find most of them trite, but I feel I need to share this: So, I've eaten at this place a few times before and have had great experiences. This time was quite different. While my first courses were fine, I had the Bistecca as my entreé. Horrible. First of all I was advised to get it medium. I had said I eat my steaks rare, but if the chef didn't mind, I'll take it medium rare. When the steak came out, it was medium well at best, and the quality of the cut was of lower quality than a Shop Rite steak. What made matters worse was that the arugula salad was so saturated with whatever vinaigrette was on it that it ended up soaking the meat as well. I understand that this is a Mediterranean restaurant, but if your secondi menu selections only have 5 items, then those 5 better be good. Especially with the reputation of this place. I'm hoping that this was just a bad night. I've read other reviews on the same dish and they are glowing. Still, having made reservations weeks in advance, this was extremely disappointing. read more

Hubby and I had one of the most delicious meals of our lives at Zeppoli. Everything we ordered, from the antipasti platter (sans meat) to the mushroom risotto, pasta with pesto, swordfish entree and the fabulous semifredo dessert just blew our socks off. Even the bread was freaking phenominal. Service was friendly and attentive as well and although we spent a lot of money on this meal, the quality of the food definitely warranted it. I removed a star for the atmosphere, which really detracted from the otherwise wonderful experience. It is just too jam packed with people to the point of discomfort and claustrophobia. I was eyeballing the room to give an estimate of size. The dining area is about 18' x 15' and we counted 12 or 13 tables. There were about 30 diners squeezed into this little room. It was so tight, that some patrons' chairs were touching the backs of other patrons' chairs. I felt sorry for the servers and the bus boy because there was very little room for them to maneuver through the room. The acoustics were terrible and we had to yell to hear each other. I felt like my nerves were fraying. The only other criticism is that the pasta and risotto dishes were a bit oversalted. Would we dine here again? Maybe. I would have to find out if there are any nights of the week that are less crowded. The restaurant appears to be doing really well, so hopefully they will move to a larger space soon. In the meantime, the owners should consider installing carpeting on the floor and some acoustical tiles on the ceiling to dampen the sound. read more

This is a very small place (8 tables and wonky chairs), very warm inside (no air?) and very loud, with small portions and it's very expensive. My husband's $34 steak had a huge hunk of fat still attached to it. We ordered 2 antipastos to split between 4 people and they charged us for 4 portions (at $11 per person). Shrimp were served with the head still attached. On a positive note, the waitstaff is very good. Kudos to them. With all the dining options in Collingswood, I would definitely go elsewhere. reading the reviews makes me wonder if i went to the same place as the other reviewers. i had reserved a table for one for 7.30p this eve. upon arrival, i was seated at the worst table in the house: the one by the entrance, in which the two seat options were either immediately behind the entry door, which would hit me each time it swung open, or on the opposite side of the table where the vent was blowing ferociously on me. i chose the latter as long as the waitress offered me the next open table. a deal was made, and thankfully carried out right after the bread was served. one waitress seemed to be catering to every table so it did take me a few minutes to receive my turn, a rundown of the menu, and the obligatory introductory bread. i opted for four pasta dishes, explaining to her to leave out the seafood in any of them due to my allergy. each came out quickly in succession, as per request, but the main carbonara dish came with the swordfish, rather than without, so i left much of it untouched. the rigatoni and gnocchi plates were solid; the pesto pasta was rich on basil, which was not to my liking, but not the fault of the restaurant. my waitress noticed the carbonara mishap and offered to bring me a new one, but i was ready for dessert. i ordered the almond panna cotta, which was this evening's highlight, easily. light yet filling and with fruit to complement the airiness. i was offered a complimentary zeppoli dish of doughnuts over nutella and did finish those, which also did please the palate. my three stars are for the table situation, the quick and almost abrupt nature of the waitress in serving me (no niceties or time to mingle/linger), and the cold, cold dining room. seriously: bring a parka. the food was overall presented well, through i will likely never head to nj (from philly) for dinner again as it's a far visit for a culinary scene that cannot compare to philly's. read more

Good Italian food, but the menu is not Sicilian. I had been looking forward to go to this restaurant for years, and we got in on a 5:30 reservation. When they called to confirm our reservation, they were very specific "no sneakers" and said we needed to be 15 minutes early; we were about 20 minutes early, and the staff sat us by the door, when in Dec, it's cold. There were several tables away from the door, and people were not seated there for the hour that we dined, so it's a little distressing how we followed our times and still had poor seating. Also, I said an hour for 3 courses; really not paced well for the food they are serving. Italian food is not meant for in and out dining. The food was hit or miss. We ordered the special of artichoke hearts that were really vinegary and they had mozzarella cheese, which is not a normal combo. I was really looking forward for my tagliatelle, but the "al limone" was the main taste of the dish, and though visually I saw the bottarga, the brininess was lost to the lemon flavor. My husband ordered the special pumpkin tortelli, and those were very good. For the entree, I ordered the special orata fish and my husband the rabbit stew; both were very good though the rabbit a little dry for a stew. Dessert fantastic. The disappointing part was that the restaurant stressed that they were Sicilian food based and really nothing stood out as Sicilian (I take this as a first generation Sicilian-American, who has been and has most her family still there). Or even, if you want to say inspired by Sicilian food, still just felt like Italian. For example, one of the pasta specials was carbonara bucatini; it should have been pasta con sarde, which is a famous bucatini pasta dish, especially this time of year. Sicilian food has the perfect balance of sweet, tangy and savory, and I really don't feel like the dishes we had highlight that aspect. Excellent service and food. We had a 5pm reservation. Ashley explained the menu and specials clearly. All the wait staff were first rate. My wife got the rub, one friend ordered the salad with anchovies, the pasta with clams and the sausage. I ordered the green salad and the lemon pasta with prosciutto. My wife ordered a size grilled zucchini and I got her arugula which was perfect with the pasta. From the bread to the salad to the pasta to the entree, it was so delicious, fresh and flavorful! Atrocious. I've never been treated so rudely at a restaurant, especially one with such a reputation. We had reservations for 7:30 on Saturday, when we got to the restaurant, we were told our table would be ready in 5 minutes. We ended up waiting outside in the 85 deg. heat for a half hour. No ice water or bread with olive oil was offered to us while we waited. When our table was ready, we were notified of that fact by the rude waiter peeking his head out of the door and proclaiming, "you can come in now..." We can? Thank you so much for allowing us in your restaurant! No apology whatsoever. When our waiter offered a meek and halfhearted apology, I told him that we were very upset and not impressed this being our first time at the establishment. I said that a few appetizers "on the house" would make us feel a bit better. This suggestion was taken with great offense and immediately shot down. At this point, if I was dying of hunger in the Saharan desert I wouldn't have opened my wallet for this place. We walked out without eating, an unfortunate end to a highly anticipated evening. Wow, wow....just wow. So after a year of dying to come here, I finally made it. My girlfriend treated me for my birthday. We made reservations for 2 at 6PM on a Wednesday night. This place is BYOB so bring your wine! The place is SUPER tiny, so be prepared for that. This isn't your standard Italian place by any stretch. There are only roughly 12 tables here, which I'm sure undoubtedly ensures the highest quality food coming out in a timely manner. The wait staff were pretty darn good. They worked more as a team as the 3 person squad were all constantly at our table either delivering food or checking up on how we were doing. We never had to ask for more water and were helpful and choosing a perfect menu for us. We decided to go with 2 orders of the antipasto and an order of the shrimp/beans appetizer. The antipasto was AMAZING, almost everything on it was unique and flavorful. My girlfriend was obsessed with the fresh arugula. I loved the roasted red peppers, frittada and asparagus. The shrimp were expertly cooked and seasoned and pretty much unlike any shrimp you get at a restaurant. Well worth it in my opinion. For our entree we decided to get 3 small portions of different pastas on the menu. We went with the spinach gnocchi, tagliatelli al limone with the bottarga cheese and the pesto trapanese. All were extremely unique. I've never had spinach gnocchi quite like this and was such an awesome experience. The tagliatelli was super fresh and the limone sauce was divine. I loved the pesto dish and the crushed pistachio on top complimented the pesto so well. They are also pretty liberal with their bread here, so order away! The tomato pie focaccia was amazing. The other bread was on par as well. We ended our night with some zeppolies. They were warm and fresh. The nutella sauce was a great modern twist. A perfect ending to a perfect meal. The place can be a bit on the high side, but I think it's totally worth it. This is coming from someone who would merely be happy with 2 for $20 at Chilis. On an ending note, with the place being so super cramped it can get a wee bit loud. The table next to us had about 6 people and were dominating the noise space of the entire dining area. I visited Zeppoli with a group of old friends from High School just a few days before Christmas. It was a great way to get together and catch up with everyone... I'd like start with the positives. The food was delicious. I would argue better than a good portion of the Italian restaurants in downtown Philadelphia. The problem I experienced was with everything but the food. Since it's a BYOB, you'd expect a reasonable tab, and if you were eating a normal meal for 2, you'd probably have no idea what I'm about to write... However, with a group of 10, and anything over 6 I might add, it will be suggested to try the sampling menu. No mention of the price, only that it's comparable to an "a'la carte" style. And regardless of what you are ordering, why should service or experience be compromised, right? Before we finished our meal and received the tab, it should be noted that we had to open our own bottles of wine, were given small plates, and when we asked for new plates, we were told that they could not. One of us even asked for a new wine glass and he was denied that as well. In addition to that, not one person was full from the sampling, or filled to the extent one would be from ordering and eating their own meal from the menu. Then dessert hit. And the namesake of the place, Zeppoli, small italian donuts, which is something, you may have gathered, that you must try. They brought out enough to feed only half of us. And when we asked for more, they said they had no more left and could not accommodate us. The bill then proceeded to be $800 (without tip). That's $80 a head, which I've paid numerous times out to eat including alcohol, but never have I received so little in return for it as I did here. The whole experience of Zeppoli left us feeling confused, puzzled, and taken once that check was placed on the table. Had there been more food or a smaller tab, logically, it would have equalled itself out and I would have felt the sense to just accept it. One of the first meals to welcome me back to Philadelphia was a dinner at the Sicilian BYOB Zeppoli in Collingswood. This small eatery has usually been listed among Philly's best restaurants ever since it opened a couple of years ago. I was surprised to find out we were heading there on a Saturday night but reservations had been snagged for a prime time appearance. Now there is both good news and bad news about my dining experience here. The good news is indeed that the food is wonderful. Everything brought to the table was praised by all present and tasting forks were constantly crisscrossing the table. My particular meal began with a gnocchi with caciocavallo cheese that melted in your mouth. The Sicilian fish stew which followed was rich in taste and substance. And to close the feast, a moist and tasty Biancomangiare was ordered and of course promptly shared. Other dishes included fish and pasta and were well received. The servers work as a team and do it quite effectively. The bad news is that Zeppoli is probably the loudest restaurant I've ever eaten in. I don't know if i have ever commented on a noise level before but this place was exceptionally deafening. It was difficult to speak across the table and I felt like the waitresses needed to shout at us to be heard by everyone. Granted a couple of the other tables in the small open-kitchen restaurant were extremely loud ones (with a couple of shrill voices thrown in to the mix) but still I would recommend somehow finding ways to diminish the sound levels in this restaurant. If you can't talk to others at your table except in a loud voice which I don't have, it doesn't matter how great the food is. It's difficult to have a memorable dining experience and evening. When you eat at Zeppoli you are eating in someones home. This small BYOB in West Collingswood has established themselves as the best Italian restaurant in the area. All the food is prepared fresh and the ingredients are seasonal. The cuisine is traditional Sicilian. The servers are knowledgable and friendly and the decor is rustic and quaint. This no frills approach to service and design lets the inspired food at Zeppoli take center stage. Appetizers here are delish. The fresh seasonal antipasto will satisfy everyone at the tables desires. Fresh arugula salad, marinated vegetables, sopressata, cheese, and a scoop of their tuna white bean salad that is so good you may have to fight over who gets the last bite. Second course is homemade pasta featuring spinach and ricotta Gnocchi and an awesome Rigatoni with tomato sauce, eggplant and breadcrumbs that is good enough to have as an entree. For entree free range chicken, and Mediterranean fish stew thats packed with a variety of fresh seafood is my personal favorite because you get something different in each bite. The only downside is that the place (although totally worth it) can get a little pricey, and I wish I could afford to eat here every week. So it will be a special night out kind of a place for us. Before I start, I have to give thanks to a Yelper extraordinaire, Kendrah R.. Without her advice it is unclear if I ever would have heard of this place. I will not bore you with all of the delectable details, and attempt to keep this short. 1) You HAVE to order the antipasto here. Tonight it consisted of more than 15 separate components, each perfectly executed. This dish was not just thrown together like many antipastos are. 2) Try at least one pasta dish, each is unique and not your standard Italian fare. 3) Order at least one seafood dish, whichever suits your palate the most. There is probably not a bad choice among them. 4) Do save room for dessert. Both of the items we ordered were phenomenal, however the pistachio semifreddo may have been the best dessert I've had all year. Everything here is rustic Sicilian cuisine, the kind your grandmother would make. That is if you were lucky enough to have a Sicilian grandmother who was also an incredible chef. ***********100th Review********* For my 100th review I made sure to make it for someplace worth it and Zeppoli was all that. Of course it didn't hurt that in our dining party was our waiter Tommy's mother and uncle (who is fellow Yelper Lawrence K.) so a reservation was maybe a little easier for our night out. The restaurant itself is very small but dimly lit and romantic if I say so myself. We set up shop at a large table located in the front window. BYOB nuff said. With many bottles of Perseco and various whites and reds we came loaded for bear..I'm so glad I wasn't driving that night. After perusing the menu we decided our party of six would choose a few plates and let the chef fill out our order. For our first course we ordered the Antipasta Siciliano, Panzanella Catania and Finocchi Salsiccia. The chef sent out two of the specials. One I cannot remember but the second was a white anchovy in linguini which was a highlight of the first course along with the Antipasta. The second course we ordered the Tagliatelli al Limone, the Rigatoni alla Disgraztiata, and the Pesto Trapanse which was awesome. I believe there were a few more dishes but the night starts to get a little hazy after the first of four bottles of wine. All were fantastic and well enjoyed by the entire party. We still had room for the third course and went with the Bistecca Enna (cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth), Sicilian Seafood Stew (mmmmmm), and the Conigilio Spada alla Griglia (we should have ordered two of these). Perfectly flavored and all delicious. Since we went this far we had to have dessert right. Zeppoli Siciliano, Torta Cioccolato e Mandole, and a housemade Spicy Chocolate Gelati that was out of this world. Upon arriving for our reservation we were interrogated: What name was it under, what was the first name, what was the last name, who did you speak with? They should have let us know they were having trouble locating the reservation rather than treating us like we were lying. We ultimately learned they lost our reservation. Then they said they could seat us, so no worry. But then why grill us about the reservation in the first place? Severe lack of tact and customer service experience. So they can seat us after a few minutes of us being treated like a couple of 10 year olds. Here is the table we can offer you. The table is about 2 feet inside the front door, so anytime the door is open the cold air hits you immediately. So if anyone has to wait to be seated they are standing on top of us, thanks. We declined the table. My wife was very upset as she had set this reservation weeks in advance for a special occasion. She was in tears and just wanted to know why/how this happened. No explanation was offered other than a meager attempt to seat us at a 4 person table. Again, we declined and decided to dine elsewhere. From the reviews I've read it seems that the food is not that unbelievable. So this is one place I will avoid forever. If you do decide to go, confirm your reservation several times including the day of the reservation. Make sure you demand to not be seated at the tiny 2-top table at the front door. Remember FLAVOR: Zeppoli Restaurant defines that word in a practically limitless way... or is it the other way around? Today many chefs are using liquid nitrogen to prepare some of their food. Overly constructed plates of fluff that are prissy, foamy and not necessarily the best combination of ingredients. No FLAVOR! Hardly any food either! Chef Baldino is different. This young man knows flavors better than most anyone who prepares food. In his restaurant, it is all about taste. Baldino is a master... and, no he is not a "white-haired grandfather" who has been cooking for his family... forever. He is a young man with an uncanny understanding about what tastes good... and looks good too. Zeppoli Restaurant is a Sicilian family dining room, seats around 35. Two minutes after you are seated you will feel that you are part of the family. Bring your favorite wine. Relax. This is no slick, corporate chain restaurant. This is Chef Baldino's kitchen. Friendly servers. They know the food and explain the many options of how you can order. You, after all, are the guest of honor. Our group of four could never settle on "a salad," "a pasta," or "an entree." We ate family style (our family might be a bit more casual than yours...). That means we had a Double Antipasto Siciliano, Finocchi Salsiccia with a fourth sausage, and Gamberetti e Fagioli...each placed in the center of the table when they arrived. As each plate hit the table, there were four flying forks... FLAVOR you have never tasted so much of at one table. We shared Gnocchi alla' Argentiera... gnocchi that was totally different from what we were expecting. Shared? Inhaled would be a better word. FLAVOR! Entrees were Spaghetti Vongole (we shared the cockle clams); Rigatoni alla Disgraziata, Coniglio Pizzaiola, and Pesce Spada alla Griglia. We shared a little of the last three, but left most for the one who ordered each. Quick comment on the grilled swordfish: in most restaurants you receive a dried out piece of fish on a plate with a side. Kind of tasteless. At Zeppoli there were two huge pieces of swordfish at least one-inch thick, juicy as could be. Oh, yeah: FLAVOR... awesome. Never tasted swordfish this good. You guessed it: desserts were all shared too. Excellent. So was the coffee. Lots of talk about the food. THE SERVICE MATCHED. Friendly. Unobtrusive. Flexible. You know, like you were part of the family having dinner that evening. Zeppoli is an experience. Everything works together, particularly the servers. Price? Very fair for the service and food received. Remember, you are bringing your own wine. Food portions are large. After my last visit (where wine was spilled) I got a personal call from the chef, Joe B, apologizing and offering to pay my cleaning bill and to come back for another meal on him. WOW. No worries about cleaning the sweater but happy to come back for another meal. My friend and I returned this evening and it was great. We had the anti pasta, which as others have said, is delicious. Salad was also done right and not overdressed. My friend had the amazing gnocchi again and I ordered the spaghetti and clams. Simple and delicious with the pasta the right level of al dente. Nutella donuts were incredible. Service was attentive again (no spills!) Chef came out to apologize and ensure we were enjoying ourselves. Very impressed that the chef cares that much about each patron. Will definitely be back! read more

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE YOU BOOK A RESERVATION!!!! Also, I would suggest you call to confirm. This was our experience. We eat out on average three times per week and are both foodies. I checked out Zeppoli's menu online and it seemed like a nice little place to try...we tried it once before years ago. The restaurant itself is very small. There were 11 tables and five (including us) tables were occupied. The ambiance is nothing special, and it is very dark. They gave us menus and at that moment told us that due to COVID, you must order the prefix menu for $55 each minimum, or a more expensive one that includes a meat/fish entree. I said I never heard about this, and the waiter responded.....and I QUOTE...."Well, they should have told you that when you booked. Because of COVID, we took a hit so this is what we're doing". Oh.....REALLY????? It is not listed ANYWHERE on the website, it's NOT written anywhere on the window or anywhere else, or even on the menu for that fact! They just tell you after it's too lake and you are already there and seated. OK, fine. We both had a salad (which should be no more than $10), both had a pasta entree (mine was with pesto, and my husband had a carbonara)(worth MAYBE $22) and we both had a dessert (worth about $8). My husband had a cappuccino. Our bill was $135 and with tip, $160. You have no choices and EXTREME limits! The food was very good, but we should have paid no more than $40 for that...and that was only because we had no other choices. All I wanted was a salad and to share pasta dish with my husband. Don't believe me.....CALL THE RESTUARANT or look at the menu and find our for yourself. My recommendation.....for $160 for two, go to Aldo Lamberti's in Cherry Hill. The atmosphere is lovely, the food is exquisite, the service is impeccable, and you can have your choice of pasta that is just as good that includes seafood and meat for the same prices they charged. Also, try Toscano and Angelos in Bordontown. Save your money! You could go out for TWO nice dinners which much better atmosphere than you will get here! Good luck! read more

We have heard great things about this restaurant. I have always believed that the best food is in philly and do not fancy many restaurants in south jersey...however this was one that people raved about. so we gave them a try after three attempts at reservations. The food was very good however the service is very bad. waiters and waitresses were overwhelmed by about 10 tables. I have seen one watier take care of 10 tables without breaking a sweat. they were just a bunch of kids and one woman that thought she was someone special. however the place was packed so i guess they do not care about you ever returning...i would never return or recommend this restaurant to any of my friends. read more

This place needs to be closer to Philly. It should probably just be in my backyard so I can go every day. It really is that good. Get the Antipasto Siciliano. Seriously. It is HUGE and is filled with so many delicious cheeses, vegetables and meats. It is really fun to eat with someone. Also, if you go here, you have to get the Gnocchi alla' Argentiera. If you don't, you should be ashamed. No seriously, it is THAT good. big pillows of heaven. UGH. I want them right now and it is only 9:30am. It is realllllly tiny inside, so plan on making reservations if you can and bring your reading glasses because it is a little dark. -Atmosphere- Crowded This is a really small place with room for about 30 patrons, so you definitely need a reservation. The place is just a little cramped and noisy, which I find to be a bit of an issue when in a place with low lighting and candles on the table. I was hoping for a bit more of an intimate setting as my Wife and I dined here on Valentine's Day. It didn't help either that we probably sat at the worst table in the place as we were right next to the entrance and with no foyer or waiting area every new customer that walked in stood and waiting pretty much right next to our table. I would definitely suggest you ask not be sat at that table. -Service- Excellent. Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The entire wait staff works as one big team so even if your server is busy someone is always nearby to help out. Our drinks were never empty and our finished plates didn't sit around long at all. -Food- Phenomenal. This is some of the best food I've ever tasted. My wife and I started with the Antipasto Siciliano which was a variety of meats, cheeses and vegetables, all of which were full of flavor and tasted fresh. It was so good, I would recommend it to anyone. Next we shared the Rigatoni alla Disgraziata, a pasta dish with eggplant. Again fresh and full of flavor. For the main entrees, I went with the Bistecca Enna, which is a Ribeye served with an arugula and tomato salad. This was one of the best pieces of steak I have ever had and I have eaten at my fair share of top of the line steak houses. My wife went with the Coniglio Pizzaiola (the Rabbit), while she said she enjoyed the taste, she did not however enjoy all the little bones in the rabbit (but that's just how rabbit is). We finished our meal with the Gelati, which I have no complaints about, but after reading some of the other reviews I look forward to trying all their other desserts. -Value- Spot on. While it's a bit on the expensive side, I feel the price is just right for the quality of food you get. Plus it's BYOB so you're not paying for overpriced cocktails. -Overall- My wife and I will definitely be returning as this was some of the best food we ever tasted. The only knock I have on Zeppoli is how cramped it feels inside. The service is great, the food is delicious, and the price is just right. I would definitely recommend Zeppoli to anybody. read more

Went to the grand opening and I was blown away. Great food! Great service! What more can you ask for? The chef/owner truly has created something special. The menu had so many choices that i couldn't decide at first. However, I ended up getting the sausage and broccoli rabe app and the swordfish. Both were out of this world. My friends took me to Zeppoli to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is small and cozy and the service was excellent. We ordered: Antipasto Siciliano - a must - a large variety of foods, all were delicious. I could have eaten this as my meal. Gnocchi alla' Argentiera - a couple friends ordered this. I thought it was super rich and heavy and was kind of glad that I didn't order it. I could eat maybe 2-3 of them but any more of that would have been too much Tagliatelli al Limone - OMG. I LOVED this dish. Lemon flavor might be overwhelming for some. Some of my friends thought it was on the sour side but I LOVED it. I wish I got this as my full meal. Pesto Trapenese - this was good too. Really liked the almond-pistachio pesto. Zeppoli Siciliano - YUM!!! delicious. A perfect way to end the dinner. read more

Truly one of the most delicious meals of my life. Showed up for our 8:30 reservation and we were greeted & seated. The restaurant is small, but comfortable. They have it set up well, so you're not smothered. Our server was friendly and very helpful while explaining the menu. We started with the gnocchi/Gorgonzola in a brown butter sauce. What a fantastic start to the meal!! Talk about melt-in-your mouth flavors and just some of the best gnocchi I've ever tasted in my life! For my entree I had the fisherman stew, which was amazing. One of the most flavorful things I have ever eaten in my life. Loaded with seafood, cous cous and the most incredible sauce. My boyfriend had the roasted chicken which was also so so so good. It was so well executed and flavorful. Last but not least, I HAD to get the zeppolis for dessert and they did not disappoint one bit. Fluffy and airy, with Nutella... you cannot go wrong there. Downgrading here based on the service during our most recent visit. I brought in a party of 6 this time. I was looking forward to taking my parents and friends here after a fabulous visit last year. The problem was not the food we ingested, but the food that was cleared and spilled onto our laps and the floor. My friends purse was almost slopped on, my dads shorts were dripped on, and I was constantly fearing for my face every time a server reached across to fill water or clear a plate. I've never seen plates scraped off at the table...come on really? It's a shame because the food is great but we will not be back. Well, Maybe if they start to offer dry cleaning with purchase of an entree. read more
