I always see Zeros, but I've never been inside. It never looks like anyones inside. But today I decided to check them out. When walked in they seemed busy making orders, but it wasn't many people inside, so the wait wasn't to long. The very nice lady at the register who looked like Viola Davis the actress smiled and said hi. This lady was a sweet heart, so nice and friendly. She helped me pick a sandwich and we chatted briefly. She definitely made me feel welcomed!! Her service was 5 stars by itself!! They sell hot and cold subs, fries, pizza, and etc. The prices are pretty reasonable. I got a small cheese steak sub, fries, and a cup of ice for about $12. The sub was filling, a small was just enough for me. It could have stood to have a little seasoning because it was slightly bland, but still a decent sub. The fries were hot and fresh. They were only $2 which is great. I thought I read the price wrong. Lol. The ice is a ice lovers dream. The kind of ice you can chew. Even smaller than Sonic's ice.. Omg. I want a whole bag. Lol. 5 stars for the ice. Lol. They have plenty of seating inside and even a few arcade games. The decor is dated, I felt like I walked into a 2001 time portal. So I hesitated to sit down at first because some of the cloth on the seats look like they'll make your booty itch!! Lol. Pricing is reasonable and they fill the subs. Domino's had one slice of ham and over baked the sub. So I was glad to find a place to get a better sub, but its still not what I'm looking for. I didn't care for them toasting my sub with the tomatoes and lettuce. It makes it soggy, the lettuce wilted and it feels yucky in the mouth. When I order lettuce I'd like to taste it and feel the crunch. It's not hard to do a good sub. It seems like too many places no longer care about quality. We've worked hard for our money so when I do eat out I expect a decent meal, one made with love and care. Now adays it's throw it together and get the money. Truly, a Virginia classic, especially this one in Military Circle. When I went there I swear the customers and the workers know each other. Small place by the hospital. I got the daily special with fries and I really can't complain. The fries were cwispy and the sub hit the spot. Cheap, quick, and feel good. read more

This place needs a makeover and training for employees. Zeros has good subs and this location was convenient to the hospital. Plenty of parking. But inside.....the signs were crooked, it looked dated and dirty. And the employees behind the counter really didn't care about people standing in line. They never acknowledged me and as they had their back to me wrapping subs they were being very loud!! Very! I know one is an aunt and one was "fixed." One was working a double and I know where she lives. They were SOOO loud!!! It was so unprofessional. The other lady working.....maybe the manager....didn't seem to care. The food is always on point. Zero's has always had the best subs to me, since I first tried back in the early 90's. The service at this location is hit or miss. Mostly miss due to their low effort customer service and everybody just looks like they were offered a job right off the street. A major update is needed in this place to provide a cleaner ambiance. I needed up at this location because I called the wrong Zeros. After showing up to the Bayview location and realizing they didn't have my order, I had to mad dash to the boulevard, so that my would still be hot when I got there. 15 minutes later I arrived and it was still warm. There were 2 women there and two customers waiting inside for food. They had a sign at the register saying that they would bring food curbside, and a big plastic barrier, and a table separating people from getting too close. They were also working with gloves on so that was neat. We ordered: BLT All American Philly Steak Pepperoni Pizza sub And Meatball Sub We loved it all and some of the subs were $5 for a foot long. read more

The girl that worked the front at the register had a very impatient attitude that came off nasty. Clearly there was a mix up with my call in order that she didn't try to rectify. At that point I didn't it rectified, in fact I will NEVER spend my money there and I wouldn't recommend that place either. We probably waited about 15 minutes for our food. The service is ok and the food wasn't bad, the subs reminded me of NYC deli subs. I gave it 4 stars because this establishment needs organization and some renovations. Plus the area where the beverages and condiments are kept was messy and jumbled up. This Zero's is located in an old strip of shops on Va Beach Blvd right next to I64. It can be kind of hidden due to the huge big box pharmacy in the parking lot however the side road is Kempsville Road and you can enter the parking lot from there. It's located fairly close to my doctor's office and often times after an appointment, especially if I've been fasting, I tend to head over here as soon as I'm through with the doctor. This location has been open for many years and you can definitely see the look of a bygone era when you walk inside. The color of the walls is an old dull green and reminds me of a hospital hallway back in the 70's. Don't let that dissuade you, they make a mean sub in this little hole in the wall. Typically I'll pick up a Club Sub however everything I've had here from a grub steak, meatball or a regular turkey sub has been delicious. Prices are fair and you can get a full sub lunch combo for about $10 or half sub in a lunch combo as well. Everything is made fresh and and toasted in the oven right in front of you. I came in and bought an Italian Gladiator and The Godfather during what seemed to be the busiest I've ever seen a Zero's in 30+ years I've been eating at any location. These folks kicked butt and got everyone out of there the very best they could. Due the the size of my sandwich's I figured it was going to be a minute. But they kicked butt. And the young lady that seemed to be running the show was kind enough to come out and let me know they ran out of one of the cuts of meat for my sandwich. I could tell she wanted to make it right. I told her just replace it with whatever ham. She did, and got me on my way ASAP. With a big ole smile that I could actually see through her mask. I really appreciate someone just being nice! I called an order in this afternoon for 2 whole grinders. I took a coupon in for $13.99 and was charged $19.55. I asked was that correct? Was told normal price was $22, but I said I have coupon. She walked away while I was trying to ask questions. These were the worst Subs that I have ever gotten from a Zero's. I have been to this location on many occasions. You don't have to ever worry about me going back there ever again. You got me this time but never again. Ordered 2 grub steak subs ( one without onions) and a salami and cheese sub. The salami sub was just ok but the grub steaks were terrible! Both came with no onions and a tiny bit of cheese. They were both so dry we could not eat them. I've eaten Zeros subs many times and have been very pleased with my orders but these were by far the worst sandwiches I've ever received. I gave it 2 stars because the food was hot. The subs were thrown together and the customer service was horrible. The gentleman who took my order had an attitude and acted like he didn't want to be there. If you don't want to be there then don't but don't give bad customer service at a food restaurant. Just got a great turkey sub that doesn't fall apart as I eat it. They're generous with the meat on their subs and their prices compare really well to other sub shops. Definitely the sub shop you go to if you value quality, and it's surprising when you don't feel charged for it. :) They also offer pizza and fries ! read more

Food is good, but not very eye appealing is the grunge on the floor where the subs come out of the conveyor oven, kinda gross and dirty, and the glass on the empty meat cases at counter area need a good cleaning. Looks like the whole behind counter area needs a good cleaning. read more

As sub chains go, this one is very good. The staff at this location has been great to me every time I have stopped in and the sandwiches are worth the money. The meatballs are flavorful and the cold cuts have nice flavor (which is definitely not true everywhere). Recommended. read more

My husband and I pulled up to get some fries, it was about 5 or ten minutes to close, we didn't even get out of the car and an employee opens the door turns off the open sign, screams "we closed" at us and locks the door even though there were clearly customers inside. Definitely my favorite zeros. Much less 'skimpy' than the others in my opinion. Only reason I don't give full 5 review is every time I go the manager comes off a little rude. I have to agree with Carter W. This is also my favorite Zero's location, their subs taste so much better than at other locations. I laughed when reading Carter's review, because I know exactly what he means by the manager's demeanor, but I will say that he has lightened up so much over the years that I've been going there, actually making jokes now and then. I think he's a good guy, and runs a tight ship, but has some trouble allowing himself to be vulnerable. Very good subs here I have been here several times and have eaten subs. Only one bad experience was one time someone working must have had to much perfume on because my sub tasted like perfume. But that was once out of many times. I still eat here and will continue to read more

Best sub for your money in the area, hot oven toasted and that oil and vinegar cannot be duplicated.
