Five stars for the most delicious, hearty, and beautiful breakfast I have had in a minute. Shout out to Victoria D for selecting this spot for breakfast upon my arrival in VA. I was starved after an early flight and Bay Local was close to my hotel and more importantly a fabulous find. The menu has a lot to offer but what caught my eye was the One Love plate. It comes with three eggs any style, arugula salad, half grilled avocado, choice of bacon, sausage, or turkey bacon, home fries or Parmesan tots. You have a choice of tortillas or toast, and as my lovely server (I believe her name was Sara) suggested the tortillas. I do believe after my experience with this breakfast that the tortillas are the ONLY option because you can make your own breakfast tacos and they are delicious!! I also got a side of cheese grits because I love grits and can never turn down the opportunity to eat them. Overall, I thought this spot had really great home-cooked and friendly vibes with awesome pricing. I have to come back to enjoy their cocktails which seem very fun and over the top.

Bay Local is one of those spots that instantly puts you in a good mood the moment you walk in. The ambiance is warm, laid-back, and stylish. Which is the perfect spot for catching up with friends, grabbing a bite, or just treating yourself! From the cool decor to the upbeat vibe, I felt right at home from the start. My friend and I started our visit with espresso martinis. I love that they give you the option to have it creamy or black! She went for creamy, and I went for black. Both were was the perfect blend: rich, smooth, and not too sweet. Such an awesome way to kickstart my birthday brunch. For my meal, I tried the chicken Caesar wrap, which honestly blew me away. Their house-made Caesar dressing stands out. It's creamy, flavorful, and coats the chicken just right. I love a good chicken Caesar wrap. What put it over the top though, were the Parmesan tots on the side. Crunchy and addictive on their own, but a MUST when paired with Bay Local's house-made hot sauce. Seriously, don't skip the hot sauce. It's the perfect combo of tangy and spicy, and takes the tots to a whole new level. My friend ordered the avocado toast and gave it rave reviews. It was loaded with fresh toppings, presented beautifully, and tasted as good as it looked. We both left our plates wiped clean. I was super impressed by how diverse and creative their menu is. Whether you're in the mood for brunch classics, inventive sandwiches, lighter fare, or cocktails, there's something for everyone. So many tempting options, I'll definitely be coming back to try more. Lastly, the service was top tier. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. Highly recommend Bay Local for anyone looking for great food, drinks, and an unforgettable atmosphere!

We had a family brunch here recently and loved the cozy atmosphere and quirky vibe. They have a huge menu and everyone could find something delicious to eat! Portions were huge and prices - reasonable. All the staff were super nice and helpful as well!

First time here and had a great experience! Food was great! Loved the hummus/chicken salad appetizer plate with the pita and fruit! Very tasty! Husband enjoyed his breakfast burrito and the crispy tots! Also enjoyed the mini key lime tart! Service was kind and pretty quick. Inside is beautifully decorated! Overall chill vibe.

I got the tuna Benedict ($21) with garlic parm tots (+$1). It came out in about 20 minutes and it was amazing! The tuna was cooked to a perfect medium and seasoned great. The eggs were poached perfectly and that hollandaise sauce was just amazing! Staff was really friendly. This place had a really nice vibe to it during the brunch hour. Overall a fantastic experience with amazing food! Food(50%): 9.0 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 8.1/10

Beautiful location with a covered patio section right on the water. Lots of boaters going by. We started with calamari which were the rings and they were huge. The breading was nice. They do a nice job frying here. It was served with several sauces. I had the soft shell crab dinner with cole slaw and fries. The slaw was finely shredded except at the top which was a little coarser. The slaw dressing was poured over the whole thing. Very tasty and unique. My son in law asked for a medium rare burger which came out WELL DONE! He didn't say anything and didn't finish it. The server should have said something. As a former server I would have noticed and asked him. This is why 3 stars. My daughter had fried oysters and looked delicious.

This restaurant was recommended by local valet at Hilton Vacation Club and so glad he shared! The service was amazing with multiple people checking in. I got a grilled cheese, coleslaw, mac & cheese, and Key lime pie for dessert. The grilled cheese had just the right amount of gooey and crunch. You can choose the bread. The mac comes optional with breadcrumbs, which I would highly recommend. And the pie was so amazing. All of the food is made in house including desserts. I can tell the difference. The atmosphere was a soft vibe and very welcoming.

Bay Local is always phenomenal! Today we didn't have a wait, we went in and were seated immediately. Totally would've ordered everything on the menu if we had the room in our stomachs lol! The things we ordered off the menu were the crab dip with pita chips & bangin balls as appetizers; crab cake Benedict with garlic Parmesan tators & pecan French toast bites with a side of sausage links & eggs with cheese. I was full off of banging balls & crab dip, but I'm greedy and still wanted to eat the Bennie. I took my leftovers home and they were still amazing when it was time for breakfast the next day. Everything was fresh, tasty, seasoned just right &!cooked to perfection. If you've never been to Bay Local, it is a MUST every time you're in the beach area. Plus they refresh the menu often with seasonal items so there's always something new to try.

This place is worth the hype! The staff, food, vibes are all on point. Our waitress sat in the booth right next to me, took our order, and chatted up with us like we were all long lost friends! Absolutely loved how attentive all the staff was! Now for the food, the Parmesan tots and waffle were my favs. Note- came in on a weekday morning and parking was a little tight so can't imagine the weekend. In any case, can't wait to come back! Also, they have a military discount for active duty members.

Service was good but I think the food was just mid. We had the crab cake balls (Banging Balls), Light Tower Omelette, "The Hangover", and the Chicken & Waffles. In short, the steak was super salty, the omelette was a little bland, but the Chicken & Waffles were decent. Hash was good but the tater tots were pretty standard. The Hangover dish was a classic American style breakfast platter with toast, pancakes, steak, etc. The items apart from the steak were standard. Nothing special. The steak was cooked decently but very salty for some reason. The Light Tower Omelette was cooked well - shrimp was cooked and not chewy, small amount of crab, but the dish itself tasted bland. It seemed like it could use the salt from the steak. Some parts had cheese which helped to bring flavor but the cheese was sparse. The Chicken & waffles were the best item but still not extremely good or the best I had. Breading had a good amount of seasoning & black pepper and you could taste it. Chicken was cooked well, and the crust is slightly crunchy. Waffles themselves were light but crunchy. Hash was great with the mixed peppers and onions - good amount of flavor and good texture from the potato. Crab cake balls were nice and slightly on the salty side but that's because of the taste of Old Bay. It was good but I don't think it was worth the price. I've had better up in Maryland. Service was very quick and the atmosphere is very inviting. A lot of shiny and decorative fixtures that make this a great brunch spot. Outdoor seating was very inviting as well with the sunlight and abundance of greenery. It could have been the dishes that we got that weren't the best, but I don't think that I would come back here again.

The Bay local on Laskin road in Virginia Beach is my all time favorite brunch location! Bay local has three restaurants in Virginia Beach and the Laskin road location is a step above the rest! I visited recently on a snow day and had an amazing experience. Their menu offers a variety of local favorites and the food quality is worth the trip. The service we received at the bar area of the restaurant was perfect. The restaurant decor is very unique with stain glass murals adding to the experience. Bay local can get busy on peak weekend brunch times so try it on a weekday if you have the opportunity!

Sat outside with our doggo. Service. Was good, the restaurant was slammed with people on Sunday morning. The food was very good and didn't sit in the window waiting to come out. I had the chicken and waffles, the wife had the light tower crab and shrimp omelette and the boy had the shrimp and grits. All were solid choices of particular note were the garlic parm tater tot. Simple basic but really good. The jalepeno cucumber margarita was also on point. Highly recommend this spot just try to miss the big rushes at times we heard wait times up to an hour. Thank you

Big country sandwhich (I think that was the name) deconstructed basically with an additional side of chipotle aioli and arugula.

I thought the same entire meal was delicious. When it comes to breakfast, I like your basic American with real home fries. The menu was a little over whelming at first but I loved the decor and vibe, reminded me of a NOLA cafe. I got the big country sandwich and basically asked for the biscuit on the side so I could dip that in the gravy and added arugula and peppers to my eggs along with a side of chipotle aioli. Little bit of both worlds. The fried chicken was fabulous and probably the star of the meal, the breading was seasoned well and flaky. I'd go back for that alone. The chipotle aioli wasn't overly spicy, but it had a fine flavor. Mimosa was balanced... the "crushes" were ok. I'm should have looked at the menu better to get a bottle and half with OJ to split to make it cheaper. Great place! Wish I was local.

One Love with turkey bacon. The grilled avocado was yummy.

Ask the Community - Bay Local Eatery

Is either location pet friendly seeing as they have outdoor seating?

Open during COVID pandemic? Any outdoor seating?

Yes they are open and yes they have outdoor seating and they are amazing

    Do they do reservations?

Unfortunately no but it's definitely worth the wait if there is one!

Is it a good place to bring kids? I didn't see a kids menu.

I brought my 4-yr old niece here and she did well. We sayin a booth & she brought a toy to play with for distraction. I want to say they had a menu for her and whatever she ordered was a big portion.

Is it as unbearably loud as the one on Shore Drive? Can't stand to eat in that noise!!

Not as loud as Shore. The Laskin location is larger and ceilings higher. If it's packed out for weekend brunch expect that it will be loud like any other place. Love the new location.

Is the menu exactly the same for this location as the Shore Drive one? I don't mind at all, just wondering. Can't wait to try this location; it's way closer to me!

A few differences, not much. No Bay Shakes this location.

Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

It was a beautiful evening. Our server was Lauryn, and she was great. She was nice and attentive but not worrisome. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Curds along with the house made Sangria. As an entree, I had the whiskey burger with truffle fries. I really liked the cheese curds; they're a lot flavorful than traditional mozzarella sticks. The house made sangria was really good too! We had to stop ourselves from just sucking it down. The burger is where I had the issue. It was a little on the dry side.... Too well done despite asking for medium. It also wasn't seasoned well. The only flavor rally came from the bbq sauce and onion straws. The truffle fries were good though. The menu said they won't best burger of Virginia Beach, and that was made me get a burger. Not the best burger I've ever had. Next time, I will try the pizza and probably go to the Shore drive location since that is closer to my house. Again, the vibe, service, and scenery was worth the drive.. the food not so much.
