Mushroom and sausage pizza is absolutely five stars. Seriously, I have no idea how they make the umami flavor of the mushroom so prominent and the quality/spices of the sausage is just *chef's kiss* - GET THIS PIZZA Chicken spinach and Hawaiian lacked flavor but the crust was excellent nonetheless. read more

Unless you live near Main Street Huntington Beach, around the neighborhood or in the area, you'll never know ZeroZero39 Pizzeria. After hearing many times about the place, I finally asked my girlfriend to bring me there. Stepping into the place, the pizzas are on display... so you can just pick to order. For suggestion, I asked what they recommend... because they also have special of the day. What we ordered were Doppio Zero, Truffle Porcini, Caprese and Sausage Mushroom. I liked all that we ordered that day. For the price, they serve large square portions. Any of the pizzas look delicious to eat. I'm looking forward the next time we are in the area. Pizzeria like ZeroZero39 are established local eateries that should be recommended and supported more often, instead of mainstream businesses like Domino's, Pizza Hut or Papa John's. The main purpose is they make their pizzas with great quality ingredients with their own recipes. Next time, you are in the area... stop by and order their special pizzas. We enjoyed their pizza. If you don't know about Roman style pizza it's kind of like Detroit style in that the crust is pretty thick. I would say the mushroom truffle was the best in terms of flavor. The veggie was excellent as the ingredients were very fresh. Next time I will try the plain pepperoni. Service was friendly. Be sure to ask for jalapeños or red pepper flakes as there is really not a lot of spice/seasoning on the slices. read more

If you're truly searching for THE best pizza in Southern California and you want THE best pizza in terms of quality I highly recommend this place. The ingredients are far superior in quality than you'll find elsewhere. And the dough is completely off the charts. 0-0-39's pizza is first class. We drive 40 miles from our home to go, sit and enjoy the pizza. You will not be disappointed-quite the opposite actually. You will be impressed! Cool rustic joint! Lots of pizzas to choose from and service was friendly. The space inside is small and there's not much space to dine without your back against the wall. If you're lucky to snag a table outside that's better. We had the truffle porcini and the dopio. Both were good but I didn't get any wow factor. Good but average in my opinion. I have had a lot of sauce-less Italian pizzas in Little Italy San Diego where it's ahhhh-mazing! *chef's kiss* I guess that's the par for me and Zero didn't compare. The lemoncoco canned drink I got was interesting and I liked it but my boyfriend didn't, he said it wasn't sweet enough, but he's literally the guy that orders extra sweet bobas Ngl I'd rather get dominos, don't kill me. read more

Came out to try this after hearing a rave review from a friend's coworker. Minimal seating if you're looking to dine in so be aware of that before coming. Everything in the case looked awesome but it was disappointed to see that the two that I really wanted to try were out. (They came out about ten minutes later which would have been nice to know when I had asked but alas.) I tried the mushroom with truffle oil and my friend went with pepperoni. Let me start by saying you can really feel that slow rise in the crust. 10/10. The rest of the flavors were a bit disappointing and lackluster. I don't know if I was expecting more from the hype or what. The red sauce on the pepperoni was eh. Would have liked more flavor. Service was great and everyone was super friendly. If you're ordering by the slice, they are big enough to share so don't order three for yourself because you will get six. Overall decent pizza but I've had better. Could just be Roman style isn't my jam. read more

Stumbled on in after walking through Main St. and Im so glad I did. They sell Detroit-style square slices, and at $7.99 for two square slices is not a bad deal. They were almost done for the day (walked in at 9:30pm and they close at 10pm) so I quickly opted for a slice(s) of the Doppio pizza. The crust wasn't too doughy and had a perfect crisp with every bite. The girl that helped me out was super courteous and quick with helping me. The store seems like it has been around for a while and the pictures on the wall proudly displays their history. I will be back again and hopefully they'll have more to choose from. read more

I was craving pizza and decided to stop in to give This place another try as my first experience was not up to par with the rave reviews as it was Halloween and they were extremely busy keeping up with the demand. I ordered a slice of the Doppio Zero pizza which was delicious. This time the pizza was cooked through and crispy. If in the area I would order again and make sure to request well done just in case. I had some amazing pizza and calzone's with my family here, but my favorite is the dessert that I tried for the first time. I got a Lemon Torte the meringue is so light and fresh I've never tasted homemade meringue like this before. I also had the Blanca a chocolate dessert with wafer in it. Read so much good reviews about this place so I thought I would give it a try. She put my slice on a tray and in the oven. Not more than four minutes after I paid I turned around and she was handing me the box. I thought I hope this is hot. I got a slice of pineapple ham and mushroom and sausage..I live off Beach Blvd. I opened the box took out a slice and it was cold. Really!!! I can't stand incompetence! I paid over 16 bucks for two slices. Yeah I could have heated up in my oven. It really wasn't that good of pizza. I've had a lot better pizza than that my life and hot. read more

We wanted some Italian pizza so we ordered from here via Grub Hub. We got 3 slices total - 1 Margherita, 1 truffle porcini, and 1 pepperoni. The pizza dough for all 3 pizza slices was dry. It wasn't crispy or soft, but had a hard, tough, chewy texture to it. The toppings had minimal ingredients -- the Margherita pizza only had 1 basil leaf on it... which was a bit disappointing. The truffle porcini pizza didn't have much of a truffle taste to it. The pepperoni pizza, although looked good, lacked flavor. The pizza simply didn't taste fresh and was too dry overall. 3/5 for quality and taste. read more

The Roman style pizza here is amazing! I love the light and fluffy crust and quality toppings as well as the unique variety. I suggest grabbing a half dozen and sharing with fitness or family to get to try a few different ones. I also highly recommend the calzone, huge and by far the best value, plenty for two people. The hangover calzone is insanely good, as is their marinara dipping sauce. The owner is beyond charming, you instantly feel welcome and are well taken care of throughout your stay. Was interested in trying Roman style pizza and found this place nearby in HB. The pizzas here are no joke. When we first arrived I was a little worried that this place was all hype. We were there about an hour before closing so the selection was a bit limited and the pizzas didn't look like they would be very good. But boy was I wrong. After the slices we chose came out of their second trip to the pizza oven they smelled and eventually tasted delicious. We ordered plain cheese and spicy salami pizza and I would definitely order both pizzas again. But there are some other interesting ones that weren't available, I just might have to make a few more trips here. We also ordered the tiramisu and yuuummmmm. When I picked it, the wife told me she wasn't really a tiramisu type person and still she finished more than half the dessert. It was that good. Will definitely be back and would encourage anyone else to stop by if they are in the area. read more

We truly enjoyed our stop at this little pizza spot. We had about 5 different varieties. My favorite was the truffle with mushrooms but everyone was very satisfied. The lean scallops of veal were very well pounded and tender, and the Marsala Sauce with Mushrooms delicious. Other diners in my party ordered and were pleased with Vitello Picatta, Tortellini Veneto with Grilled Shrimp, Penne Con Petit De Pollo (chicken), and Ravioli Breve Costola (short rib). Our group had a large table to ourselves, and service was responsive and excellent. The dining room was opulently furnished, with color drawings of Chicago mobster Al Capone, Marlon Brando as "The Godfather," and Al Pacino as Miami drug lord Tony Montana AKA "Scarface" adorning walls. Our timing was not good as the restaurant had experienced a rush of diners and it would be a 45 minutes wait until our party of 6 could be seated. We would wait knowing the food quality is good. We were joined outside by 2 other parties that also were repeat customers. Both parties of 6 and 5 were seated back to back so it was a little tight in terms of spacing between the tables. However, since the acquisition of another storefront, the restaurant is double in size we told our out-of-town family members whom we were introducing to our favorite local family Italian restaurant. Veronica was our server again. She was our server the last time we were here for my husband's birthday dinner. We were happy to see her. Veronica took our drink orders and gave us time to look at the menu. Daughter had strawberry puree with sparkling water and lemon. Veronica was up front in letting her know that it was from a can. Brother-in-law had a Philadelphia root beer--Hank's in a bottle. Niece ordered Calamari Fritti and Spaghetti Bolognese with gluten-free pasta. Brother-in-law went with Veronica's suggestion of the Insalata Mona Lisa small after finding out how large the salad would be. He also ordered the Margherita Pizza to share with his niece. Daughter upon hearing that the Salmon Limone was not dairy-free opted for the Spaghetti alla Checca with a salmon fillet. The rest of the family had the day's specials of Salmon Limone, Linguine Pesto with smoked salmon and asparagus, and Bistecca done medium rare with pan sauce. Everybody had had small lunches and so were really hungry. Bread was warm and balsamic vinegar olive oil combo in dipping saucers was soaked up by the sliced bread prompting a request for another basket of bread while we waited for our entrees. Calamari Fritti is niece's favorite appetizer and did not fail to please. Brother-in-law's salad looked good with greens, red beets, tomatoes, and candied walnuts. Margherita pizza was simple with mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, and fresh basil. Daughter was delighted with her salmon fillet. Other daughter enjoyed her linguine pesto, but it was so rich that she was only able to finish a quarter of her dish taking the rest home for another meal or two. She wasn't done with the sauce in her dish and let the assistant server wanting to clear dishes know that she wanted to enjoy the remaining sauce a bit longer . I enjoyed my salmon with lemon capers that cut into the richness of the creamy angel hair pasta. The cherry/grape tomatoes were fresh. Husband's Bistecca was a big boy's portion. He enjoyed it tremendously, but was only able to finish half of the 16 oz. steak. We passed on desserts this time, but my family remembered how on our 1st visit to the restaurant about 15+ years ago I ordered one of every dessert on the platter. They were all very good. My husband's favorite is the cannoli. I prefer the limoncello cake. Dinner here is always worth the wait and the food and service are excellent.

His only response was that he'd "talk to the server and chef about timing" a vague, dismissive answer that ignored every issue I raised. It was almost laughable how obviously he was trying to rush me off the phone. No apology, no real interest in fixing anything, no understanding of how customer service is supposed to work. One of the owners that we talked to also was social with us when I asked him about his restaurant and the influence for the menu items. I did not get his name, but he let me know he has Greek and Italian roots, which makes sense seeing that there are a lot of Greek/Mediterranean items on the menu as well. I believe he said his Italian ancestry is from Sicily, which was nostalgic for me because Sicily was one of my favorite weekend trips back when I spent a summer in Italy. Anyway, on to the food. I ordered the Penne Marco Polo which came with a delicious cream sauce and served with shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms and artichokes mixed in. It was one of the best pastas I have ever had! My mom ordered the chicken piccata - it was good, but she did have a complaint. Her plate arrived drowned in the wine sauce. I do not think it was supposed to be that wet. My daughter ordered the kids fettuccini, and our server was able to modify it so that it would come with pesto instead of the alfredo or pomodoro sauce. The flavors were okay at best, but I was shocked at how watery the sauce was. I even asked the waitress if it was supposed to be so watery to which she had no response. I don't know if they are watering down all the sauces to stretch ingredients or if they don't drain the water from the pasta before they mix them - either way it was way too watery. My 5-year-old son had spaghetti with marinara sauce that was extremely watery as well and he refused to eat it after a couple of bites. My son always eats spaghetti with red sauce everywhere we go so we were shocked to see that he wasn't going to. We asked the waitress if we could get something else since he didn't like it to which she stated she would have to check with management. She came back and said unfortunately we could not nor would they remove it from the bill, but she did say she could get us some Alfredo sauce that we could mix in to the spaghetti and red sauce pasta. My 8-year-old ordered Fettuccini Alfredo which had good flavors but was extremely watery as well. It was more of a scampi sauce (water/butter sauce} then anything remotely close to a creamy alfredo sauce. My wife and brother-in-law who also ordered pasta dishes agreed their sauces were extremely watery as well. Lastly, when the bill came, we were shocked to see a $6 fee for tiny little dish of Alfredo Sauce that the waitress went out of her way and offered to bring my 5-year-old son so he would eat his dish. She should have at least let us know there was a charge for it if it wasn't going to be free. I do not plan on going back and would much rather eat at Renato's in Westminster.

The cream was actually very flavorful and not just like a plain creme with Oreos thrown in like I've often seen. I'm sure all of the donuts would be really good here. I have been watching this place since it opened and have been looking for an excuse to try it. I have noted they draw a good local crowd in the evenings.Today I was at the tail end of a fifteen mike bike ride on a breakfast of coffee. Trying to figure the whole pizza from the sliced is not straight forward. So now I am being picky.The pizza is rectangular ah ! A good thing ! Background.. Dad was born in Detroit from parents who came from Italy near Monte Cassino.His eldest brother was born there. Mom was from the same area and came here as a kid.Pizza I ate growing up has little in relationship to New York. Chicagoenor any other U.S. popular style. So I wanted to say I had no problem with the staff at all, I didnt really get to engage with the staff much cause I wasnt there for too long but they seemed pretty friendly. Heres where the problem lies, starting with the food, it wasnt very good, i was very unimpressed, we got the baratta pizza and the cheese, the barrata was worse then the cheese, it was just so, i dont even know how to describe it without saying it was just very meh, and then the cheese on the cheese pizza was like just not good at all. The second thing that i wanted to say was that the price was like so unreasonable, I asked for 4 slices, 3 barrata and 1 cheese. The staff cut off the slices, heated them up, put them in the box and then took me to the register and the total came out to be 40 dollars, yes that is with a tip of 20%, but thats an insane price for 4 slices of pizza. Anyways, yah thats it for my rant, I know rent there is high and there isnt a whole lot of costomers all year long but like come on, that pizza tasted like dirt. :/ read more
