    View from my balcony

The Harbor Front is the premier place to stay! The upgrades have only make this Inn "the" destination on the North Fork. Some might say the view faces the parking lot, I say look beyond your nose and see beautiful Shelter Island and the water from your balcony. Having a cup of their fine coffee right now.

We were really looking forward to our stay since we were here a few times several years ago and enjoyed the central location. Looking at the other recent reviews here on Yelp, I see we were not the only disappointed patrons. Sadly, since Harborfront Inn was bought by a private equity firm (we heard from the locals) it has unfortunately lost a lot of its original charm that the Kontokosta family had as the original owners. As expected, prices have soared, rooms at the new prices for same spaces have had perhaps a new paint job basically. There are many add-on "amenities" i.e. $25 charge to park your car in the hotel parking lot. Really? Staff were not as helpful as before. However, I am sure they are making the $$$$ as the area is becoming more popular. Pros: The hotel is in walking distance to the many cafés, restaurants and shops in the seaport village of Greenport. **We now prefer the Menhaden. Reviewed recently. Or American Beech** Thank you for reading.

Horrible! Just got back for what was to be a lovely stay. The place is under construction which we were never informed. Plastic on walls, doorways, exposed electric, paper taped to the floor. No one was at the desk so we had to ask one of the workers to find someone. A complete mess! All was said was "sorry", really? They should have refunded our money. Shame on them. Will never ever stay there again! Colleen C.

I am a yearly visitor of the Harborfront. I have given 5 star reviews. This is a place my husband and I enjoy immensely. We book the Harborfront front balcony room every year, and look forward to our visit. This year I added a trip for my sister and I. We were given a room on a lower level . I do pay premium prices. On entering the room it was lovely as always. But sitting on the deck we were appalled that there was 2 homeless men right under us, And looked like this had been a long while. Called the front desk and was advised they couldn't do anything about it.. i was so uncomfortable with the response. The next day they moved to a shaded place right in our view of the harbor. Directly under our deck. finally on the 3rd complaint the manager was present and did help right away. I'm just so disappointed. I have a trip in September..I'm not sure if I'm comfortable staying.. I waited on this review because I was told I would be contacted, but never was

The Summer ball is a must do yearly (though, sadly it was canceled last year). And the piano bar is very cute and has friendly s. Everything at this place is beautiful, clean, and has amazing views. I'll include some photos of the facilities. I am very curious about staying here!

My stay was ruined by a persistent ticking noise in the room that kept me awake all night. I called…read morethe front desk three times, but each time the call went to voicemail. I hung up immediately when I heard the voicemail greeting--no one ever actually answered, despite the manager later claiming staff "tried to take calls." In the morning, the manager refused to refund the room rate and only offered to waive the parking and resort fees. He suggested changing my room, but no immediate action was taken. Maintenance initially thought the noise was coming from the next room's bathroom. When they tried to investigate, the manager claimed the noise came from the neighboring guest instead and that they couldn't enter because the other guest was present. No proper investigation was completed, and my room remained unusable. I ended up paying for a room I could not use, with no real assistance overnight, and received dismissive and inaccurate responses from management. I hope the hotel improves communication, responsiveness, and accountability to prevent this from happening to other guests

Tip: you can also get to Greenport from NYC via bus or LIRR train (three trains a day from Penn Station, $25 one-way, peak fare, 3 hour trip) or take the Cross Sound Ferry from New London CT, which we used to avoid bridge and LIE congestion, for about $67 with car and two adults.

The place has the perfect mix of that old world charm but yet spacious and open. There are a few porch areas, a couple of dining areas, a very large living room area with a fireplace. Decorated perfectly everything is in soothing, serene, calming colors. Each room has it's own bathroom, she has many more rooms than other B&B's in the area and she doesn't require a 2 night minimum. The location is perfect too, a few blocks away from the main part of town, a 5 minute walk but in a quiet area.Prices in line with everyone else. I spent a lot of time searching online and kept narrowing it down between this and others, her website is also the best, very clear photos, online reservation. I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else, neither should you. In a word....perfect! Thank you again Joan, you and your home that you share with is are just lovely!!!!
