I decided to give this place another try since the last time I had it was about 5 years ago. The food looks great but lacks flavor. The chicken was soggy same for the crab Rangoon. We actually had to refry the crab Rangoon ourselves. I added my own seasoning for flavor. I was sad because even the pork fried rice tasted bland. My boyfriend agreed as well. If youre hungry, dont order from here....it took over an hour and a half for our order to be ready when we were told 15-20 minutes. Not the end of the world, they're one of the only chineese food spots open on Tuesday. We waiting an hour there for our food and called for an update. We were told the food was ready, and when we get inside, they charged our card and told us that the food wasn't ready yet. When the food was finally ready, we get it home only to find out they gave us no sauce. Then, we discover that the pork bun we ordered was A HOT DOG. Our go to Chinese food take out. We only eat kosher/halal meat or seafood (not many options out here). They have the best food around with prompt delivery. Will recommend their Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Shrimp with tomato and pepper (Ask for baby shrimp, tastes better IMHO). read more

I've lived in Freeport a long time, and I've eaten a lot of Chinese food. There are at least four restaurants worth mentioning in this town, but with one of them having gone out of business, the Chinese Cookery has claimed the throne. I reviewed this location for my hyper-local publication in 2012, and while Hurricane Sandy did some damage to the south side of our town, this place is still awesome. They are quick and inexpensive, yet their food is top-quality. I would heartily recommend the steamed dumplings and pepper, steak, and onions. If you want to do a take-out date with your significant other, this is the place to do it. I'm not one to judge a book by it's cover so I decided to walk in and give the Chinese Cookery a try. The food was horrible. I'm a foodie, I know good food when I taste it. I try to judge food for what it is and not by the aesthetics of the place. I'm not from a fancy place or upscale neighborhood, I'm originally from the Bronx. Love the food specially the boneless spare ribs and they make the Sweet and sour soup from scratch unlike other Chinese places so when in doubt order in advance to pick it up so there is no wait time or order in the delivery guy is so nice and courteous so I look forward to getting deliveries from them. When I called to complain I was told just that and when I came in today ordered lunch spoke to the guy and he acknowledged our talk but did nothing to remedy the problem. Well, let me start by saying this was my first and last time I ever order food from this place! I wanted to try a different Chinese spot so I ordered from here because it's pretty close to me. Well, that was a huge mistake!!! First my order came and my chicken and broccoli did not come with it's rice so they had to come back to my house to bring it to me. Then my daughter ate the fried wontons and they were terrible. There was barely any meat in them. They sucked. Then my son was eating his shrimp Lo-mein and he chewed on a god damn staple! A STAPLE!! Probably from the stapler they use to staple the bags close. Are they kidden me. Thank God my kid did not swallow it. Otherwise they would have a big lawsuit in there hands!
