Very busy take out restaurant. I walked in one Friday night and placed my order at the counter. The young lady who took my order was very polite and professional. Nice! Not what I'm typically used to. I waited around a bunch of customers and Doordash folk picking up their orders and 25 minutes later got my food. The dishes weren't what I was accustomed to from other Chinese takeout restaurants, but they were pretty good. The general tso's chicken was very meaty but had a different kind of sauce than I've gotten in other places; it was more barbecue-like than the thick, sweet, spicy, orange glaze I'm accustomed to. The chicken in garlic sauce was good. The chicken, as well as the vegetables, were shredded, which is different than I'm accustomed to. The chicken lo mein was perfect with a tasty smoky flavor. I'm taking one star off for the egg rolls which are always my favorite part of a Chinese dinner. They weren't piping hot, right out of the fryer. While tasty, they were only a bit warm and soggy. I'm thinking they have a ton sitting ready to go on a busy night, but aren't dropped in the frying vat when ordered. But all in all, this place was great - good service and good food - and I'll definitely visit again. read more

Food and service was excellent. My only issue is it looks like they reduced the portion sizes for the combos. They usually come in a larger white container and this is the first time it's in a smaller black box. Like 1/4th smaller than usual. Not sure if it's shrinkflation or what but you can tell the difference in size tonight. read more

The food is just "ok" much of it Americanized. For example, you can taste a ketchup flavor in their sesame chicken. My complaint is that most restaurants want you to tell them of any food allergies. When I told the girl on the phone taking the order, she didn't care, would not share the info with the kitchen, and it was not on the receipt. Decided to drive a few miles out of my way to try Danny's and was very glad I did. Ordered online and food was ready and piping hot when I swung by a half hour later. Danny's allows customers to tailor their preferences (e.g. amount and flavor of sauce, spice level, cooking temp, cornstarch) online, a great innovation. It's a small spot and the place was hopping at 6:00 on a Saturday evening with lots of takeout bags wrapped and ready to go. Staff was young and friendly. Ordered fried shrimp dumplings, bone-in spare ribs, wonton soup, house special chow fun, zoodles w/beef and tofu with broccoli. Prices were very reasonable. We loved the large meaty flavorful spare ribs, cooked well done as ordered. Wonton soup was rich and tasty with lots of plump yummy dumplings. Zoodles were kinda bland and watery but maybe that goes with the zucchini-based low carb territory? Dumplings, tofu with broccoli and chow fun were very good but also a bit bland for our tastes - however I'd prefer that to having my food swimming in gloppy sweet sauce as is the custom in many other places! Next time I'll just specify "spicy" on my ordering preferences. It's a learning curve. read more

Still the same old Danny's and that's a good thing. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. Always ready before I even get to the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and everything tastes so good. Had the orange beef and it was crispy, tender and had tons of orange peel. Moo Shu Pork was delicious. Kids love the tofu. They have the best Orange Chicken. They never miss, it always taste SO fresh and with such potent orange flavor. I love how they leave the orange pealing in there. I order with shrimp fried rice but use white rice. only place I go to for orange chicken. (Delivery via app used to be much easier but I think you might be able to call and order like that. The app they use is too expensive now.) Ordering can be a bit annoying bc they have the high school/college white girls in the front taking orders and they can be very hormonal via the phone. They might not like when you order with details or might not know what you're talking about so they'll just say sorry we can't do that. Sometimes they try to rush you off the phone. I'm sure the white people in the front help the other white people feel more comfortable ordering, especially the older crowd. But Asian family in the back cooking it up is killing it! Very odd sauce on shrimp snow peas, tasted like ketchup was used with soy sauce, never had a sauce remotely close in taste to that, not good at all, note they said it comes with brown sauce, which should be the same as beef or chicken and broccoli but was not. Ever since moving to LI from Queens, i struggled to find a good Chinese spot. I decided hey why not! I ordered beef and broccoli combo which came with an egg roll, general Taos chicken, fried meat dumplings, vegetable chow fun, chicken wings, and fries. WOW! Soooooo good, my husband, my 2 year old, and I ate everything!!!!!! So, delicious. The general Taos was actually chicken and not just the flour, white meat at that. The egg rolls i know are usually hit or miss but i actually thought this egg roll was delicious. Def my new go to spot! read more

Growing up, Chinese food was among the Friday takeout "treats" or as my mom saw it, a break from cooking all week. Every suburban town had at least 2 pizza and Chinese places (at least on long island), so it was always one or the other. Meh. That tradition ended once I moved out of my parents house 4739472 years ago. Since then, I've probably eaten "Chinese take out" 1-2x a year. Honestly, with all the great food options I've come to love in NY... it never appealed to me again. Enter the pandemic stage left. Enter Danny's stage right. Wow. My mind has changed. This food resembles the greasy food I ate growing up but is leaps and bounds ahead. My weekly takeout rotation (Tex mex/halal/sushi/poke) now includes Danny's! Everything tasted like they took the time to really prepare it. Not premade and most likely frozen junk of yester years. Egg rolls are crispy, not greasy. General Tso Chicken - Big chunks of quality white meat chicken, mild spicy sauce, happy green broccoli. Shrimp and vegetables (brown sauce)- Perfect, savory and shrimp that is not overcooked. Vegetable Mei Fun- They'll let you, but don't skimp on the sauce! A little noodle heavy but not bad. Wonton Soup - So much better than I remembered. I'm not a fan of pork but this tastes so good I'll ignore the fact I'm chowing down on swine. There are plenty more options I haven't tried. Zoodles, tofu, scallops ? Please. Just maybe not all at once. Ordering online is a breeze with ALL options customizable, even the amount of sauce you want. Just like BK, Danny's let's you have it your way! It's also a great value for the money. Yes-- half of your container IS rice (I often save most of it and use the following day for my own cooking), but you're still getting a ton of food. Speaking of which, it's definitely Americanized but what chinese takeout outside of NYC isn't? Danny's, you've done good. Had a little mishap last time with the chicken. Went back today to give the place another go. Got to meet the owner Danny, really nice guy. Gave us everything we ordered on the house because of the problem with the food last time. We got General Tso's Chicken, meat dumplings and spare rib tips. The General Tso's tasted great, the ribs tasted very good and had a BBQ type flavor. The dumplings were also good, I liked the consistency of them and my wife liked all the food as well. The portions are a touch on the small side. But the food is excellent and the owner is a class act. The front counter is staffed by very pleasant English speaking employees taking orders. We decided to try this new place based on the reviews and we were very glad. We ordered a few different dishes. We started with the roasted duck. The flavor was outstanding! Loved the seasoning. BUT the skin was not crispy and they just chopped it up into chunks with bones and cartilage which made it more difficult to eat. My beef and scallops with veggies were amazing. Fresh, tasty, goos portion - I ate it with pleasure. The orange beef combination platter was also good. All the food was good and fresh and we will definitely order from them again. read more

Ordered takeout from here tonight. One of the items we ordered was beef chow mein. When it arrived it was just sautéed cabbage. We initially thought how funny they must've just forgotten the noodles, but their response was "that's how we make chow mein. It's cabbage." Lol chow mein literally means fried noodles in Chinese. To add to the hilarity, our receipt actually says 牛炒麵 (the last character means noodles). It's like ordering penne bolognese off a menu and receiving...broccoli? Asked to speak to someone Chinese or Chinese-speaking to confirm because we just couldn't believe the absurdity. No surprise...no such person exists at this establishment. I hope the owners of this place read this and change the "chow mein" section to "stir fried cabbage". Noodle hilarity aside, the rest of the food was borderline inedible so just do yourselves a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Boneless ribs taste different, must have changed supplier. Fried rice was bland and overall everything was salty. Prices are up big time and portion sizes have been decreased, that's ok but don't change the food quality Wonton soup is consistently good and staff and owner are very nice people.
