I love a good taco and had been wanting to try this place for a while with all the great reviews. I've tried the carne asada and al pastor tacos, the carne asada is the best. The meat is very flavorful and has a nice grill taste. There isn't much salt on their meats. Adding the complimentary salsa gives it the perfect flavor. The tacos are served with onions, cilantros, and a yummy guacamole salsa, I've eaten there and also ordered to go. I recommend eating there for the best taste. The quesadilla and tacos were a little soggy by the time we got home. The cashier and servers are all very nice. Lunch time can get very busy and take awhile to get your food because it's all fresh and made to order. The restaurant has ample seating both indoors and a patio outdoors. The service felt hectic, but expected for how crowded it was. We sat and munch until our dinner came out one by one. They were gracious enough to give us more chips when asked. Came here on a whim and El Sereno really put us on. Zingo Tacos is one of those spots you randomly try and immediately want to tell people about. The tortillas tasted fresh, the meats were flavorful, and the portions were generous. Everything came out hot and satisfying, and you can tell they don't cut corners here. I decided upon the al pastor burrito while my girlfriend got carne asada queso tacos and a Jamaica drink. We dined in, and the inside area and the patio area looked pretty nice. They also had a restroom, which while was small, was clean. Our food came out pretty quickly, and they also dropped off some salsa bottles to compliment with our burrito and tacos. The burrito was delicious, filled with savory beans, rice, and guacamole, and the al pastor was quite meaty with some smokiness. I liked how the burrito wasn't salty at all and it felt like a home cooked burrito. My girlfriend really liked her tacos too and she compared it to the best street style tacos she has tried in the El Monte and Los Angeles area. Overall, I would come back here again to try more of their foods, and the best part is that it seems like it's a nice local gem that the locals like coming here as well. They have some seating inside and outdoors in the back. Mulita -not a single glisten of grease on the tortilla, which I'm not use to but a great change up. If you don't like your food dripping with grease but love mulitas, give this one a try. It was a bit dry for my liking. (Crispy) Tripa Doradita taco - was just what I needed. Texture was amazing. Tender but crispy! So flavorful. Asada Taco -surprisingly so tender, even more tender than their Al Pastor. I actually prefer their Asada over their Al Pastor here. Al Pastor Taco -is exactly what you expect it to be. Tlacoyo -really filling, a bit on the dry side. Black beans didn't seem to have anything else mixed in it. It's not the kind that is freshly sliced off the stick and doesnt come with pineapple so it's not the al pastor flavor I was seeking. The chicken taco has large chunks of chicken meat. The meat was flavorful. Im not sure if this is a takeout problem but the meat was a bit dry and the tortilla edges were dry. Im sure it would have been better if we were able to consume it fresh. Despite that the flavor of the chicken was good and the kids loved it. I like that all the tacos come with cilantro, onions, salsa and guac by default. The Tlacoyo is a tortilla/bread like vessel that is filled with black beans and then topped with cheese and meat of choice. I can really liked the corn flavor. While I'll go on record and say I ate here sober, this place serves tacos made with love and were drenched in grease, which I would absolutely recommend draining or ordering the chicken for instance. The person serving us was super friendly and readily welcomed us, of which I'm very grateful for. The menu was also pretty budget friendly and was surprised at paying what I did, even if the tacos are smaller. The overall ambience was also dirty, and had gnats flying around however. We tried one of each, our least favorite was the al pastor which it was a bit disappointing since pastor is my favorite, but the papas con rajas and chicken tacos made up for it. This taco spot was on Mission and Huntington Dr in the early 2000s.. One of the orginal taco stands using charcoal. By accident I found this taco shop on Valley Blvd. The tacos still taste the same. I am giving 5 stars to Zingo Tacos based on food taste and quality. The meats are always prepared fresh daily and are sourced from a local butcher in El Sereno. The steak taco meat is char grilled to perfection. The meat is cut not too thin, but also not too thick. It's meaty, savory, and has a good bite to it. The red also, the light red one, is my favorite. It's fresh and flavorful. You can taste the tomato and the other flavors aren't overpowered by the tomato. They make all of their own salsas. The Chile verde is tender, meaty, and not salty. The chicken is also very flavorful as well as the newly added birria. It's female owned, btw. And the owner, as well as the rest of the staff, is very nice. The ambiance is no frills, and there's a great outdoor seating section in the back. I typically get the tacos but everything there is worth trying. Parking is relatively easy, too. It's worth your effort if you're looking for homemade food and char grilled meats. read more

My counseling team went to a meeting in the area, and afterwards we stopped by for lunch. I guess they have been here before, but it was my first time. One of my coworkers has been coming here since before it became brick and mortar and was just a stand. I think it's awesome that they were able to expand and be so successful. The area is not the nicest and I would have never just "happened" upon this establishment. Also, parking is a bit of a nightmare, and I had to go up into the neighborhood where only one side of the street was available. At least I got to walk off a bit of my food. Lol. Once inside I ordered an asada tlacoyo and an asada quesataco. The latter was my favorite. I should have gotten multiples of this. The meat has this unique char on it that was very tasty. The tlacoyo was extremely filling, and although I enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't order it again. Two people in our group got the chips and guacamole. I thought about it, but refrained. I shouldn't have, because they were delicious. If I ever come back, I will get that for sure. Actually, we have another meeting next month. These tacos were brought to me and the order was one carne asada and one al pastor taco with everything and two carne asada tacos with everything on the side. I wanted to try their tacos their way and then my way. The person who brought the tacos had my order in text form but he's a little sus when it comes to paying attention to detail so I don't know who's to blame for the error (my money is on my buddy). So, I'm pretty sure there was no al pastor taco and they didn't include onions and cilantro. But, at least I got my green sauce and that's more important to me than the onions and cilantro. This review will be as if I only had carne asada tacos. Let me tell you these tacos are not hype. The meat was deliciously flavored and it had a very good "off the grill" flavor. There were bits of some tasty fat as well that must have snuck through but they only added flavor and were not those gross pieces you sometimes find in your tacos. The way they are prepared was a perfect flavor combo and this is coming from someone who prefers green over red salsa. All of the flavors blended well. As you can see from the tacos where I got everything on the side, the red salsa is different in color. The red salsa in the container is a tomate quemado (burnt tomato) salsa and it was yummy. The green salsa was yummy as well. The guacamole by itself is flavorless but when combined as in the other photo, you wouldn't know it lacked flavor. So, have them both ways so you can see what their signature taco is like and also add your own flair with the different salsas. These tacos were that good that I made sure I picked up every last little crumb. I ate like I hadn't eaten in years and my tummy was very happy with this meal.
