this place is the reason why I don't trust any of those "best tacos in LA" yearly lists....BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS NEVER ON THERE! and there's no way it doesn't deserve a spot. Everything is consistently delicious. the shrimp ahogado was life changing for me. Definitely check this place out ASAP.

I had heard about this place through social media and you know it has to be good if they're selling it from a house! I came on a rainy Thursday which was perfect because they had a $7 taco specials! There are many choices but I opted for the dorado, fish, and shrimp tacos, all for $7! My favorite was the dorado. It was still crispy by the time I arrived back at work. I usually am not picky about fish tacos but I didn't love this one. I think because of the time it took to drive back to work, the fish turned soggy. That just means I gotta come back and eat it fresh!

Mariscos El Chito is a true neighborhood gem for authentic and flavorful tacos. I actually ended up visiting twice in one week because the food was that good. The setup is unique and homey--the business operates from a converted garage on residential property, with covered seating available in the driveway. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially if it's your first time ordering and you're unsure what to try. Everything on the menu looks incredible, but the tacos dorados are a must for your first visit. Their seafood dishes are also worth exploring, and I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Payment is easy since they accept cash, card, and Apple Pay. Street parking is available nearby, and while it can get busy, it's worth the effort. A great local spot that embodies the spirit of authentic Los Angeles street food.

*** $2 fee using credit cards or bring cash *** Mariscos El Chito is an actual hole-in-a-wall & family-run makeshift taco stand in someone's driveway. The taco stand was ranked #10 in Yelp's Top 100 Taco Spots 2025 ( https://www.yelp.com/article/top-100-taco-spots-2025 ). I had to double check the address to make sure I don't accidentally walk into the wrong house. One free taco if you mention that you are a 1st time visitor but owner will get to choose which taco (our party got Taco Dorado). [Parking]: Street parking only & our party got really lucky as there was one spot available just a house away. [Setting]: There are tables available to sit, but they are one of those portable folding tables and chairs. [Menu]: The top favorite orders are Shrimp Baja Tacos and Fish Baja Tacos (beer-battered or grilled option available). Don't want tacos? They have oysters, tostadas, cocteles, botana, burritos, plates, quesadilla, vampiro, and loaded fries. *** Shrimp Baja (OG Grilled - beer battered shrimp taco with cabbage, tomato, onion, cilantro, and specialty sauce - $4) & Fish Baja (OG Grilled - beer battered fish taco with cabbage, tomato, onion, cilantro, and specialty sauce - $3): Both tacos tasted really good, but I will say I like shrimp taco better than fish taco. Taco Dorado (Hard-shell shrimp, potato, and cheese taco topped with cabbage, white cream, and guac dressing - free for the 1st time customer): Excellent filling, but I certainly prefer Baja style taco over hard-shell taco. *** Overall excellent Baja style tacos and I can easily see myself re-visiting again without having to drive to East LA.

Mariscos El Chito made it onto Yelp's Top 100 Taco Spots in the country. I had to check it out. I had no idea it was so close. Well deserved recognition. Fast service, friendly staff, excellent food. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we finally decided on shrimp baja tacos, dorados tacos, and an order of the shrimp loaded fries. First off, I'm already craving more. The shrimp is fresh and good sized. Not those dinky, rubbery tiny shrimp some places try to pass off. Good quality ingredients used here. The shrimp baja tacos were hands down my favorite. They ate light with the help of the crunchy slaw but still filling and more importantly, satisfying. The shrimp loaded fries were WOW! Loaded is an understatement. We should not ordered a large. We barely made a dent. Serving size was suitable for an entire family to share. I was impressed and will be back again soon! *parking is a little tricky since it's a residential/garage kitchen. street parking only unless you ask to park in their driveway *new customers get a free taco in their first order. now that's how you start off a relationship Payments accepted: -Cash -Zelle -Venmo -Apple Pay

An extensive menu of fish and shrimp tacos. Oh yeah--octopus and oysters, too! Everything here is excellent. I can't really say what my favorite is. If's all awesome. Try the entire menu! But that may take several visits.

    FISH CEVICHE

Whoever made this ceviche needs to either be promoted immediately or studied by scientists. Also shoutout to the tostadas for holding on under pressure because I personally folded after the first bite. 10/10. If this place closes I will have to be hospitalized.

This place has an almost perfect rating of 4.9 stars, and it's so well deserved. From the food quality and portion to the service, everything is just perfect. They even give each first timer a free dorados taco! We ordered the shrimp baja taco, fish baja taco, taco de pulpo, of course the free dorados tacos, and the mixto ceviche. Everything was so delicious, but we especially LOVED the ceviche. We all agreed that this was the BEST CEVICHE OF OUR LIVES. So fresh with no fishy taste at all, so generous with huge pieces of seafood, and so perfectly limey and refreshing. All for only $18?!?! When I come back, I would get the mixto ceviche, the dorados taco, and the tacos de pulpo! Such a vibe eating in the garage and watching them cook. And these tacos were not greasy at all!! Please come and support this small family business :)

My colleague suggests tacos for lunch. I thought we were heading to one of the usual spots. NOPE! She punches in an address in the GPS and we head out. We take an obscure route from East LA to a house in residential El Sereno section of LA City. There were police cars, a fire suv and public works vehicles parked along the street in front. Thats how you know this is a special place! Cops and firefighters always know the good food spots We walked into the converted garage/ kitchen and to order. It smelled heavenly. My friend has octopus and a lovely seafood cocktail. I got my free taco Dorado for my first visit and I ordered an additional 2 shrimp tacos and pepino agua. Long story short, we've been there 5 times...that was a month ago. Sorry for no food pics, I scarf down the food before I remember pics. THEN... we discovered that this is on the Yelp top tacos list!!!!!

This spot is wellllll worth their reviews. I was shook to see such a high average rating but when I tried their food, it made sense. You might drive past them initially; they're located on a residential street in a driveway-turned-outdoor-kitchen. Parking on the street is hit or miss but they let us park in the driveway, which was so kind because it was raining! Brianna and Alma (sorry if I misspelled the names) were so friendly and warm! It was our first time there, so Brianna gave us two dorado tacos on the house. They were delicious, so hot and crunchy with a creamy/cheesy shrimp and potato filling inside. I loved the guacasalsa on top. We tried one grilled, one fried of both the shrimp and the fish. All were excellent. I loved the seasoning of the grilled fish and shrimp, while my partner loved the crunch of the fried ones. We also tried the pulpo (octopus) tacos, which were perfectly tender and juicy and went great with their house red salsa. Lastly, we each tried a vampiro, a hot crispy tortilla loaded up with grilled shrimp, cheese, crema, onion/tomato/cilantro, and guacasalsa. That may have been our favorite thing we got, though everything was delicious. This family run business is such a gem, and I cannot wait to come back. If you want tasty, fresh, made-to-order food and kind, welcoming service, definitely check this spot out. They've been doing their thing for 7 years, and I hope they stick around for at least 7 more!!!

I tried their fish ceviche and it was super fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with lime and spice. On top of that, they gave me a complementary hard chile taco on my first visit it was amazing! The crunch, seasoning, and kick of spice made it unforgettable. You can tell this is a family run spot because they put a lot of care into their food and service. Definitely worth stopping by if you want authentic seafood tacos and ceviche. I'll be coming back for more!

Placed a phone order and after 25 minutes my order was ready for pickup. I ordered the following: Large aguachiles - chunks of fresh, raw shrimp, sliced red onions, cucumber cubes, and slices of avocado marinating in juice. Very good and would absolutely recommend! Jumbo shrimp plate - deveined jumbo shrimp cooked with finely minced garlic. Smelled fantastic while waiting for my takeout order and tasted delicious. Shrimp tacos - deep fried shrimp with pico de gallo, cabbage slaw, and crema. Standard and also very good. I pulled up to pay and was greeted warmly by the chef and cashier/server. While ringing me up, the cashier asked if it was my first time there, to which I replied yes. She offered a shrimp dorado on the house, which I thought was a nice surprise. I'll be sure to order this on my next visit!

The space is very small, and since we weren't familiar with the area, we almost missed the entrance--but we're so glad we didn't. We asked Edgar for his recommendations, and he guided us beautifully. Little did we know, he's the genius behind the menu. We ordered everything to go and started with the mushroom taco and the mahi mahi taco. Both were simple yet incredibly flavorful, and the tortillas were outstanding. Next up were the fried shrimp tacos--perfectly crunchy, with avocados and salsas that truly elevate each bite. Once we got home (and after a much-needed nap), we dug into the aguachile, fish ceviche, and shrimp cocktail. At first, the aguachile seemed a bit peppery, but once we discovered the perfect bite--shrimp, onion, avocado, and habanero salsa--it quickly became our second favorite. The fish ceviche was fresh and well-balanced, but the real star of the night was the shrimp cocktail. We're already looking forward to our next visit to LA so we can bring some of these dishes home for the rest of our family to try. Correas is absolutely worth the stop.

The food was delicious! I tried a shrimp taco and a tostada de aguachile. The only issue I had with this place was that it took what felt like about 20-25mins to receive my food. (In their defense the tortillas were hechas a mano *by hand* - could be I caught them at a bad time?) I'll have to come back another time to try more of their items and see if the service is any more prompt.

This time, we ordered the Shrimp with Cashew Nuts and the Beef with Chinese Broccoli. The Shrimp with Cashew Nuts was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the Beef with Chinese Broccoli was extremely salty. After just one bite, I honestly couldn't eat any more of it. I have always liked this restaurant and have been coming here frequently over the years. I've enjoyed their lobster several times with my family, and almost every dish I've tried here has been delicious. That's why I was especially disappointed with the Beef with Chinese Broccoli this time, as it was far too salty. Despite that, I still think this is a great place for lunch. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, the service is always good, and the portions of rice are very generous. One thing I especially appreciate is the complimentary orange slices they serve to every customer after the meal. The oranges are always fresh and sweet, making a nice ending to lunch. One other thing I noticed during this visit was that the restroom now has a new premium hand soap. I don't remember seeing it before, and it was a nice little upgrade that added a touch of luxury hand soap to the overall experience. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and will definitely be back. Hopefully, the kitchen can be a little more careful with the seasoning next time .

Dried bread and dipping sauces were brought while we perused the menu. Our food came quick. First was the chicken soup we ordered as an appetizer. It was delicious! Warning - the red salsa side dish is super hot. We tested it first, added a small splash, and loved it. Next was a sliced beef and marinated onion sandwich. It was well filled and really tasty, our favorite of the night. The green salsa that comes with it is a perfect compliment - savory and spicy like a molé, but not too hot. We will order this again. Then came the beef heart, not a dish for everyone, but a personal favorite. Seasoned with a great dry rub and cooked on wood skewers, it was on par with the best yakitori I have ever had. What made it even better, however, were the sides. The hominy was perfectly chewy and seasoned. Mixed with the green salad, the potato chunks, and some of the green and white dipping sauces, well, it was an excellent compliment to the dense beefiness of the roasted heart chunks. OTOH, the salsa that comes with the beef heart, while full of chopped scallions and such, was far too sour for my taste. It was like pure lime juice. I tasted it and set it aside, only adding a few bits into my mix of sides. The final nice touch was the price. Total for three dishes was $40 before tax and tip. We will be back.
