    Veggie platter with Al-Awaze Tibs
    Michael C.

This place is wonderful. Fast service, convenient location, and prices that won't break the bank. Best of all, the food was delicious. We had the veggie combo and the Al-Awaze Tibs which is a semi spicy beef dish. It all came on one big platter. When we are in the mood for Ethiopian, this is the spot. EDIT: I wrote the review before the bill came. The bill included a 4% admin fee. I asked the server what that was for. She said she didn't know. I'm deducting a star.

    Fully cooked Kitfo Wrap

My son was craving Ethiopian food, so I hopped on Yelp to find a new place to try. We all love Ethiopian cuisine and wanted to explore somewhere different, which is how we ended up at Zion. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted by the woman behind the counter. She brought us menus and water right away. The dining area had a laid-back, almost country-western vibe, like it may have once been a saloon once, but it was clean and inviting. The menu featured all the classic Ethiopian dishes we're familiar with, and we were eager to dig in. We started with the appetizers: Sambusas and fully cooked Kitfo wraps. For our entrees, we ordered the Doro Wat and the Ethiopian veggie combo. Everything was fresh and delicious. My youngest son loved the Sambusas so much that he ordered a second order just for himself! The Kitfo wraps were also tasty and the meat was well seasoned and flavorful. The Ethiopian veggie combo was full of flavor and not overly oily, which we appreciated. The Doro Wat was solid as well. Service was a little spotty, we had to ask for plates, napkins and refills, but other than that we had a good time. All in all we would come back to try out a few of their other dishes.

This place was AMAZINGGGG the second I walked in I felt welcome and met the owner an her daughters and they all are so nice! Thy made sure I knew what foods were good and made amazing suggestions! They also offered some traditional Ethiopian coffee (which was amazing) that they roast in house! It's smoky , earthy and very homey and I urge you to ask about the coffee ritual it's perfect to experience with friends! I got the kitfo wrap which was DIVINE they give you the option to lightly cook it or eat it raw (I recommend raw trust!) and the doro wot was so filling and delicious the veggies were seasoned to perfection and the meat was cooked perfectly and the ambiance was so comforting and warm! The decor was so pretty and the general atmosphere was welcoming and so homely it was refreshing to experience from a restaurant setting. I recommend this place 100% even if you haven't had Ethiopian food before this place will have you hooked!!!

The food was delicious, the portions were large, and the staff was friendly. The tomato fit-fit was especially good.

It's right off Hwy 75 and Beltline right across from the McDonalds after the light in the strip mall. It was easy enough to find and we strolled right in. It is self seating and we picked out a table chairs off to the right side when we entered. It's a decent size space with a fair for live music and plenty of seating; half of it on regular height and the other half bar height seating. There was one young lady serving and there were only 3 other families there. She was attentive and served us with a smile. We ordered taste of Ethiopia, which a mixed dish with Doro wot(chicken stew with boiled egg) kitfo(very slightly fired almost tartare beef) beef tibs(stew; all served in a bed of Injera(their traditional spongy oversized tortilla) made from teff. It has a slightly fermented taste for those who have never tried it before. The plate also had collards, lentils(shiro) and Ayib(homemade fresh cheese). This is right up there with Shebelle for the best Ethiopian food in DFW. Now I haven't tried all the restaurants but have eaten at enough to know what is next level. The explosion of flavors; the subtle heat from the jalapeños and chilli powder/paprika. The rich taste of the Ethiopian ghee it's cooked in. The best part is the injera that has soaked up all the sauces as the last fitting bites. The only downside is wouldn't stop eating, it was so so good and I got my share. I was full for the rest of the day and didn't eat until about 20 hours after that meal. Go try this place....the food is so worth it!

The waitress was kind and very helpful. She explained the dishes and even hand-served the buffet to me. The inside had tvs to watch the euro cup and the mint chairs were comfy. I enjoyed the buffet and the vegetable combo was delightful. The only thing that wasn't for me was the tea. It tasted like a fireball shot without the alcohol. If you like sweet things, then I would recommend. Overall nice experience and I will be bringing friends and family again for sure!

Their coffee has such a nice and strong acidity to it, and their signature latte is phenomenal. I also quite enjoyed their matcha as well. it was well blended but not as heavy as I expected, so I'm not entirely sure if it's ceremonial grade from Japan. However, both drinks were really well made and they came out really quickly. I would absolutely come here again--such a gem!

Great tasting coffee and interesting food items that you may not find at other cafes. We were there for coffee so did not have a chance to eat anything. The coffee is local led roasted and this establishment is women-owned. I liked that it was not overly acidic and had a smooth finish on my cafe latte. We were greeted on arrival and ordered iced coffee. There was something wrong with the machine so I could not order regular coffee. But, after sitting in the shop for about ten minutes, the barista invited me to place my order because the machine was working. Comfortable seating and bright lighting inside allows for some quiet space to work or relax. Loved the decor!
