We came in around 6pm on a Saturday night. Beware: make your reservations ahead of time. When I went on their website to make the reservation, I saw slots were available for both indoor and outdoor seating within the next 30 minutes and hour so I went ahead and booked it. Upon my arrival, they told me that all reservations were actually full and they were able to "squeeze" us in to a table. I appreciate the accommodating, but I wish they could fix their platform to not allow reservations at certain times if they're actually full. Everything food wise was pretty good, very authentically made (as in, if you've had any of these foods before anywhere else, this place probably tastes 1000x better). We also got sodas and some were extremely watered down so just make sure to ask for a replacement if that's the case. They also provide you with complimentary toasted bread. For desert, we got the profiteroles which were very good and had a really rich chocolate topping. The staff was very attentive almost to overkill. They constantly took our plates and cleared our table despite some in our party that were still eating. I would have preferred if they waited until we were all done. Enjoyed an exceptional meal here! Arrived around 6 pm on a Friday. We were greeted by the hostess and sat right away. We started off with a couple of appetizers and a bottle of wine. Both appetizers were delicious. The calamari was fried perfectly with light crust . The Octopus was served grilled with some potatoes and olives. Also very delicious . For the main course, I ordered the fregola with seafood. Prepared in a light tomato broth with shrimp mussels and clams over couscous. It was delectable. I tried a sample of all the other entrees, and they were all excellent . Our server was awesome and attentive. The manager adrian checked on us several times and was a pleasure to talk to. Sardinian food is very regional, so it's hard to find it in Italy proper. Sardinia is an Italian island due west of Naples. So the food will be somewhat different than typical Italian. My friends and I had a cheese wheel pasta dinner at Zona Blu. The price was reasonable, and we had table side service. It was quite a show. They melt the cheese to get it nice and melted, then add the pasta and put three birds nest la of pasta in each bowl. Paired with a nice glass of wine, it was delicious. This place has been here a while, but I just now found it. I did try the fresh burratta. The pizza was not my particular style, but it was still good overall. We did try a seafood pasta with pizza dough baked on top. This was absolutely phenomenal. The red sauce they use in both the pizza and the pasta were excellent. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the pizza maker/chef. He was so concentrated on his food during and after he made it, that was a joy in itself to see. We came with another couple for dinner here on a Saturday night. They've only been open a month. Luckily, we made reservations early as they were quite busy when we left. We had an excellent meal. We shared an arresina salad. It was large enough for four people. It was chopped up crunchy endive, with walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese. There was a slightly sweet honey dressing on it. It was a very good appetizer. For our entrees, we each got something different. I had their branzino. The perfectly grilled fish fillet came with fresh grilled asparagus spears and sliced sautéed mushrooms. My husband had their fiochetti di ricotta. These were small pasta purses stuffed with cheese and truffles -- slightly sweet -- and served in a creamy mushroom sauce. Our friends had a lobster ravioli nightly special that came topped with shrimp and a tomato sauce. And she had a signature Sardinian dish of gnochetti di campidanese. It's a homemade small pasta shaped like a folded in shell. It's not stuffed. It was in a red sauce with bits of sausage. We had good service and several people came by to check that our order was correct. We received our food quite quickly. We were looking forward to having dessert, but they were out of my favorite -- the tarte de nonna. This is my absolute favorite Italian dessert and the main reason I had selected this restaurant, so I was quite disappointed. Even so, I'd certainly come back for their other food. We have been going to Zona Blu West Palm at least once a week for the last 18 months...and sometimes, twice a week. The bartender, Malcolm, is wonderful - very welcoming. The server, Mike is excellent. The food is very good, albeit a bit pricey for West Palm Beach. Our favorite person is the manager, Darian. She has put together a great team and they work together great. Chef & food runner, Kenyan are a delight! Sadly, we found out Darian's last day was yesterday and this guy that we've seen for the last few times we were there (always on his phone or heading out of the restaurant to go wherever..) is the NEW manager! Why you would replace someone who is doing an excellent job and has built an excellent team is beyond me, but then again, we've never seen the owners at this location. Yesterday was our last day at Zona Blu. If this is the way you treat a dedicated employee, this is not a location I wish to frequent. Food & employees - 5 stars. Visited Zona blu for the first time last night. The food was wonderful! The restaurant is located in a rather-non descript strip shopping area and looked closed at first. The atmosphere was quiet and unassuming. The food and service truly made up for the empty dining room. Authentic Italian! Our waiter was polite, very informative and on it! We started with the burrata app ....delicious! One of us had the red snapper special and the other the pasta bouquets with truffle and mushroom cream sauce....dekictable! Searching the area for an Italian restaurant, we chanced upon Zona Blu. We chose this restaurant after seeing the good reviews on some sites. We went without a reservation, which wasn't a problem and upon arrival were asked if we had a reservation. Based on our negative response, we were seated at the bar while our table was made ready. We turned down drinks, believing that we would be seated quickly. We immediately noticed that about half of the tables were occupied but those that weren't all appeared to be "dirty". Staff on hand appeared to be 5, to include an on-duty manager (based on clothing, mannerism), 1 waitresses, 1 bartender and one food preparer working up front behind the bar area. We didn't see who was in the kitchen, but it was clear that there were others there. As we sat at the bar for what turned out to be about 15 minutes, we noticed a couple of things: 1. The gentleman cutting up the bread (wore a kitchen apron and wasn't serving guests) was eating from the bread he was preparing. 2. The small refrigerator with a clear glass door behind the bar had uncooked seafood items, each wrapped separately in plastic wrap. These items didn't appear frozen but were refrigerated in a way that looked like the intent was to remove the wrap and quickly cook to serve. 3. The waitress took prepared toasted bread which had apparently been burned and scraped each individual piece clean of the burnt part, before putting it back in the breadbasket and serving it to guests seated behind us. We've been to a lot of Italian restaurants in the US, Europe and even Italy and hadn't ever seen this done before. We are pretty sure that the guests didn't know how their bread was prepared either. 4. During this entire time, we were never shown or offered a menu. Based on these observations and out of concern for our health, we then left the location. We were approached by the on-duty manager in the parking lot, who told us that our table was now ready. We explained the situation with the burnt bread scraping, which didn't obviously surprise her, and that we were no longer interested in dining at the location. We parted ways amicably. We drove to a nearby restaurant of similar size, also Italian, were seated immediately and had our drinks immediately and appetizers within 15 minutes with no issues. The contrast was stunning. It is unfortunate that Zona Blu was clearly having some issues that day but it is also clear that wait staff doesn't hold burnt bread in un-gloved hands to scrape off the burnt portion then serve it without instructions from management. What we saw appeared to be indicative of established procedures and not one-off mistakes made by inexperienced staff. Based on this and the other issues noted above, we can only give others the benefit of our observation and experience, keeping in mind that we didn't eat or drink anything. read more

It is very rare I write a bad review. Zona Blu used to be my favorite restaurant. However, the food is not nearly as good as it used to be and the service is horrible. They changed over the entire staff several months ago and we were there the second day after this turn over (we didn't know it at the time). I wasn't willing to review it at that time because I knew it was a transition period. I went last night with some out of town guests. I was mortified. They were out of pizza crust (with three college kids that didn't go over well), the pesto was bland, the bronzino was dry and the lamb chops were just ok. We had to call over the manager to get any kind of service. I'm sad to say that this is my last time at Zona Blu. I will miss what it used to be! read more

I'm not a fan of Italian food so I was reluctant to try this restaurant out. I'm glad I did though. I had gotten the spaghetti al cartoccio and besides the presentation the dish was delicious. It had mussels, clams, shrimp, and calamari rings. The sauce delicious and when I added some chili flakes to it, it got even better. My wife had gotten the grouper with risotto. I'm not a big fan of risotto so I can't comment on it. The grouper however was very good. The fish wasn't overcooked and the sauce it was accompanied with was excellent. For appetizers we shared Frittura All'Isolana which consisted of fried calamari, jumbo shrimp, zucchini and marinara sauce. Very tender and. Delicious! We now have an Italian restaurant in West Palm Beach! I know, you are thinking we already have plenty of them, but I mean "Italian", not "Italo-American". Zona Blu raises the bar by 3 notches or so when it comes to Italian restaurants in this area. I know the original place in Weston and was very happy to see them opening up here. Strangely enough they opened in western WPB, on Okeechobee and Benoist and not in downtown. Good for me, it's close and I don't have to drive in the mess and worry about parking. They definitely decided to take a risk by taking up here their authentic Italian concept; I personally know restaurant owners that tried the same and then told me "we have to go back to offer chicken parm and alfredo, that's what people want"); however with time I believe also West Palm has grown in taste and appreciation for food that you don't see every day. So, first thing: don't go there and expect linguine Alfredo, chicken marsala, shrimp scampi (what the heck does that even mean anyway??) and similar staples of the traditional italo-american cuisine. They have none of that, they cook real Italian. Actually, it's a regional cuisine to be fair, and it is focused on the island Sardegna (Sardinia in English). Sardegna offers not only one of the best Italian cuisine, but also the best beaches with the clearest sea you can find: between a beach in the Caribbeans and one in Sardegna, to me Sardegna wins all the time. And no, I am not from Sardegna, in case you were wondering. Being an Island it is no surprise that Sardinian food be based on fish. The food, people, is not good, is great! I have been there several times and I still have to taste something I don't like. ANTIPASTI-APPETIZERS I love their salumi board; you know, Italian charcuterie, but the real thing instead of American pepperoni as it is served in some downtown eateries (nothing wrong by the way with American charcuterie, just don't pass it for Italian and sell it at premium price). You got to have the salame felino, a very particular type of salami, with a gamey tone. Also the coppa and bresaola are very good. While there are several good appetizers on the menu, to get a glimpse of Sardinian food, you might want to try the octopus and the frittura. PRIMI PIATTI Again, also here you have plenty of great choices; for those who want to get "Sardinian" I suggest trying one of the pasta from the Island, which would be the gnocchetti, the fregola, the culurgiones and the cassulli: just type of pasta you don't get to see and taste elsewhere. In these "primi piatti" menu, you could point one at random and get a great dish. SECONDI PIATTI I didn't try all of them but I can tell you the Gamberoni alla griglia and the branzino are very, very good. The branzino (sea bass family) melts in your mouth; the gamberoni (large shrimps in Italian) are very tasty and their meat rich. These large shrimps in Italian are called gamberoni, or more often and more officially "scampi", which is the real word to translate "prawns". That's why for an Italian the dish "shrimp scampi" doesn't mean anything, it says "shrimps prawns". And then you get pasta.... DESSERTS They have many choices, but I like the traditional torta della nonna (grandma's pie) or the refreshing sorbetto. They also have several "digestive" that's liquors you drink after dinner in Italy from "Amari" to grappa. So, what about the pizza? I tried the margherita and it is to me very good; the quality of the sauce and the mozzarella makes the difference and you can tell it's Italian style of pizza by the fact that the dough is lighter than in other places. The main reason for this is that they let it levitate longer. That's why a whole Italian pizza pie can go down easier than 2 slices of American style pizza: the second one levitates in your belly filling you up quickly. Service is very good, bartender Federico besides being a nice guy, makes great cocktails, and he definitely knows what he's doing. I sat at the bar (many times) and at the tables (sometimes) and the service is always very attentive and they can also guide through the menu if you are a first time visitor. One thing you will notice is that they are almost all Italians and young people, which is a bit unusual around here. Prices are well, upscale prices, after all you eat very good and authentic food here, so can't expect $ 12 pasta. However, let me tell you also that at least the particular type of cuisine and the quality justifies these prices (which are not crazy, just not cheap) much more than it does in other West Palm places especially around downtown where the food is pretty ordinary. We went on a Friday and it was pretty busy...loud for a small place, but they always had a large birthday party that was pretty noisy. Sadly my aperol spritzer was terrible, ratios were definitely off. We had the fried trio appetizer, big pieces of calamari which were a little chewy, just a few zucchini chips and were oily and a few large shrimp which were the best out of the three. Finally a TRULY authentic Italian restaurant in West Palm Beach! We were at a HH in Downtown WPB, when I received a notification about their opening from a FB group I belong to. We have been to their location in Weston a few times, and got so excited to have them in WPB as well that we immediately interrupted our HH in Downtown and drove to them (the restaurant is located in the western part of WPB, in a plaza that is empty after office hours: you'll never have parking problems there). Being an authentic Italian (actually Sardinian) restaurant, don't expect "Alfredo" anywhere on the menu, nor Chicken Piccata or meatballs or garlic breads (these are Italian-American dishes), but I strongly encourage you to try their authentic Italian dishes: you won't regret it! We have visited them several time by now, and every time we try something different. The prices are decent, considering that we are in the expensive Palm Beach County AND you are getting authentic food. However, make sure to inquire about the prices of specials or additions to dishes, as these may be a little bit expensive; regardless: everything is really good and the portions are generous. They also have a great list of imported wines and liquors. If you're not sure what dish to try or what to drink, do not hesitate to ask the waiters Kenia, Floriano (and Jennifer) or the bartender Federico, the manager Yaris or even the chef Nico: this restaurant has a young, very friendly and very knowledgeable (mostly Italian) staff, who works "all hands on deck", is very passionate about their job, loves to tell you about the Italian cuisine and culture, and will remember you next time you go there. After reading the glowing reviews for the quality of food and exceptional service I was really excited to try Zona Blu on a date night with my husband. We made reservations for 8pm on Friday night. We arrived about 7:45ish. First impression: After standing awkwardly at the door without being greeted, we were simply asked by a server if we had been helped yet and were asked if we had a reservation. After a few more awkward moments, a hostess arrived. She was pleasant and sat us. We then sat for a while before we were even offered water. Maybe 15 minutes or so. At some point while we were waiting for water the hostess came back over to us to ask if we were okay with our seat/table. We were fine where we were seated (a small table for 2 in the middle of the restaurant) but we still had no water. Finally, water was offered and served. My husband also ordered an Old Fashioned, which he said was "okay, not bad". A few moments later another server asked if we would like to order a drink. There was some confusion when we told him we already ordered a drink and were just waiting for it. The hostess came by and asked if she would like us to take the menus away, we hadn't even ordered our food yet but I did let her take the drink menu away. A server returned and we placed our order for an appetizer, we shared a salad and ordered 2 entrees. A few minutes later, a different server approached us to let us know our server was busy and he would like to help and take our order. I told him we already ordered our food. Once again, there seemed to be some confusion that someone had already taken our order. The food: 5/5 everything was fresh and flavorful. We ordered the soufflé al pecorino, arresina salad, fiocchetti di ricotta e tartufo, lasagna alla bolognese and the torta Della nonna. No complaints at all when it came to our meal. Very good. Back to the service: when our plates were cleared after the appetizer and salad, our forks were taken but never replaced. Someone served our entrees and she dashed off before I could ask for more forks. The bartender noticed I was trying to stop her and I informed him that we didn't have utensils to eat my entree that was sitting in front of me. He came around, apologized and gave us forks and offered grated cheese for our dishes. Our water glasses were never refilled for the entire duration, I eventually asked for a refill before the dessert came out. Everyone we encountered was friendly but seemed inexperienced. The glowing reviews based on service was not our reality. I guess service is subjective because I'm sure the couple sitting by the window would say service was outstanding tonight. Absolutely a hidden gem that's a short drive from downtown WPB and completely worth it! I have never seen a wait staff more excellent at their jobs than this. Table touches were warm and friendly, our food got to us in a timely manner, and recommended food items were second to none! There was no one sitting at the bar but there were some diners there already. They served bread which was very good fresh and heated in the pizza oven where you could see the pizza being made fresh. The bartender told us about the drink specials which were $5 for wine and $3 off the cocktails. There was no food on HH, the bartender said it would be coming. The bartender offered to make a cocktail that was not on happy hour apparently and I tried it, be warned ask if it's on HH to be sure. The drinks are $12 and $14. I had a melon sour but the glass was filled with a ball of ice and a peach Bellini great and would not order again but the wine is excellent. I had the veggie pizza and it was very good. I would go there just for pizza again. I would like to return to try some other food items. Had the seadas which was traditional dessert it was fresh and warm. Not my favorite but it was good, pastry filled with cheese and fried, drizzled honey and confectioners sugar on top. There are a lot of employees there, it was noticeable I suppose if it's busy they would be very busy. Inside is a bit small seating is close but there is outdoor seating with cooling fans if you want to sit outside and it is dog friendly. I would definitely recommend creating a happy hour menu separate to the main menu to avoid confusion of prices etc. Good place to check out. The service was excellent. read more

This was our third time eating at Zona Blu. The first time was wonderful. Service terrific and food was really good. We brought friends the second time and one persons meal was sub par. The kitchen did however, work to make it right. The third time, we brought another couple and service was fair at best with all of our food sub par. It's such a shame since those two couples won't be back and it's doubtful we will either. The bread basket needs help, service needs to improve and the food needs to be consistent. The octopus was tough and smelled fishy, the pasta dish was flavorless and the sea bass and the presentation was just plain terrible. The eggplant in the caponata was not cooked through and the mushrooms on the other plate were flavorless and way over cooked. Service was excellent! I was shocked to see so many employees standing around. We arrived during Happy Hour and the place was empty to my delight. Not in the photos was Melon Sour. All the drinks were really good except the Beach Bellini. That was just ok. The pizza and complimentary bread went very well with the Pino Noir. I'll be returning to try something else. The draft beer for happy hour was broken today so I'm hoping it will be fixed soon. read more
