While the ambiance was great, the customer service was not. As soon as me and my date sat down we were served water. About 2 mins later we were asked if we were ready to order. Me and my date asked for more time to view the menu. The waitress then said she just wants to inform us the we have a time limit of 1 1/2 hours. I felt that we were rushed to order and eat. Food came out within 15 minutes, which means the food is not made when ordered, steak was not the correct temp that we wanted. Although it was a wait but i was glad i was able to experience this place. I am big on the atmosphere of a restaurant and of course the food. I must say this place had it all. From the moment you entered to the music, food and service this place could do no wrong. Even in the middle of a pandemic, with all the restrictions due to Covid-19 it felt good to just sit around have drinks, great food and genuine conversations. I made reservations using "Open Table" for dinner on 8/28/2019 at 9:30. I arrived at approximately 8:48pm and informed the hostess that I have a reservation with Open Table, her response was, "Oh we give a table to people using open table if we have one available." I proceeded to ask her, so you don't honor open table reservations? Her response was her telling me that the restaurant does if there is an available table. I was appalled at the utter disrespect ! How does a company use a program to make reservations and choose when they feel like honoring the reservation. I only decided to dine there because my partner was interested in remaining. 1-hr wait to be seated with a reservation. I arrived on a Sunday at 6:45pm for my 6:45pm party of 2 reservation. We gave the lady at the reservation table (Mary) our info & she didn't have anything free. She told us to wait in the waiting area (bar) & she would come get us - I had a feeling she would never come for us (and I was right). We got a drink at the bar (from bartender Rose), drank it on the outdoor deck & came back at 7pm to check on our reservation -- Mary didn't remember us and still had NOTHING & looked like she couldn't care less. She put the pressure on the girl seating us (Melanie) to explain why we didn't have a table (apparently the owner's 2 friends needed to be seated before us). 7:15pm -- NOTHING. 7:30pm -- NOTHING. At this point I was almost sitting on the floor at the front, so it was obvious I was tired of waiting. 7:45pm -- we FINALLY get seated & I asked for some sort of compensation for my 1-hr wait. I didn't get a response, so my man asked to speak to the manager. We had to ask a 2nd time to speak to him. We explained the situation to Marvin the Manager & that my man wasn't getting "ANY" for our 8-year Anniversary if I wasn't happy. Marvin came back with a bottle of Prosecco for us. Our waitress (Madeline) was very nice and attentive. Everyone was attentive (except for Mary). I had to ask for everyone's name, since NO ONE wears a name tag. The food was decent, but pricey (I've had similar food plenty of times). Our appetizers arrived quickly, but our dinner took awhile to arrive. During dinner we had a pitcher of mojito ($55), it was good & of course pricey as well (but for the cost of a drink, a pitcher was the better value). We dressed nicely for a dinner/lounge on a Sunday night, but lots of ladies were dressed for the club in South Beach. Lots of eye candy & surgical enhancements for the men to drool over. I just don't understand how some people have been turned away at the door, when I saw people in shorts, sneakers and t-shirts seated next to people dressed for the club. It is a beautiful place - but they need to get the reservation system together (and Mary trained appropriately) and the dress code needs to be enforced for everyone. I wasn't the only person complaining about a reservation wait for small parties. I have NEVER had to wait 1-hr to be seated in my life. I heard others say it is hard for them to accommodate small parties (I guess because they'd rather hold the table of 4 for 4 people and not just 2-ppl). Mind you, I got at least 2 text messages for me to confirm my reservation (it should've been me texting them to confirm my table of 2 for 6:45pm). They also need to offer their customers a compensation when something like this happens, I shouldn't have to ask to speak to a manager 2x and ask for something for my inconvenience, however, a $12 bottle of Prosecco is better than nothing and like I said, the staff was attentive (Melanie, Rose, Madeline, Marvin -- just not Mary). read more

I went for my 25th birthday dinner last night. It was a reservation for 4 people. Staff was friendly and I really had no complaints. My friend made the reservations so I don't know where we supposed to be sitting, but my waitress let me choose where we wanted to sit. I chose to sit on the lounge. I feel that the service I received was amazing because it could have been that I went on a Tuesday night; the place wasn't packed, but there was still people thetr. I was nervous about going because of all the reviews I read but decided to give it a try for myself. The inside is really beautiful. The plate I received was huuuugeeeeee and it was so delicious. The only I would say is that my plate didn't have enough pollo. Also, we ordered two pitchers of what I think was Rosada sangria and it was delicious. That's what got me lit lit. Celebrated our Anniversary at Zona De Cuba. We arrived there for happy hour which was good. The service was excellent. We then transferred over to have dinner. When we were seated we asked the waitress if we would be able to sit in the cigar area after dinner. The waitress asks Franklin, who i am assuming is the maanger, he tells her the private event that is was going on will end at 8:30. I asked if there was was a way to reserve an area for 8:30. They assured me that it wouldnt be an issue. So, around 8 we finish dinner and sit outside waiting to be able to sit in the cigar area. Not one server came over to ask if we wanted anything. At 8:45 i go over to the hostess to ask if we are as able to sit in the cigar area. Once again, Franklin tells her the private party pushed it back until 9. The hostess assures us she will let us know when we can go sit in the cigar area. 9 O'clock comes around, still no server, and the hostess comes over to tell us Franklin said the cigar area was closed for the night. So, we wasted a whole hour, waiting patiently with no service for Franklin to send a message with the hostess..he didnt have the courtesy to come over and tell us he wasted our time.. Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were greeted by the bouncer who scanned our IDs. This is not new to us b/c the majority of the clubs downtown would do such. My daughter had mi cebollita en Tuesday pechugita also no flavor with tostines which is all she ate. My other daughter had paella I have no words. If your Latino you know Latin flavors. Reservations were made for sitting n lounge area because this place is always packed. Dinner couldn't be eating peacefully b/c there was an invasion of bees. Lounge area where tables are mid knee (not comfortable) to eat our dinner. My sister n i both immediately got sick n we order the same exact order. I will start by saying that this place is new so I will give them one star for that. First, the wait was very long, they had one line for the reservations and one for the walk ins. They would let everyone on the reservations line go up but would only allow a few of the walk ins to go up. We waited about an hour to go up and they told us that once we went upstairs we could sit by the bar and order drinks but that we would wait for about 40 minutes to be seated. Once we got upstairs they told us that the wait would be 1 hour to 1 hour and a half for dinner. We waited for this long and then I asked them how much longer since the time had passed and we had not heard from anyone. Thy told me that they had overbooked the reservations, which meant that even those with reservations were still waiting to be seated. At this point I went back to the bar and after waiting for 30 more minutes we decided to leave. That's when they finally sat us down. They get a 5.5 for food since it was okay, nothing special about it. They get an 8/10 for ambience; really loved the place and the views, they were great. The music was also very good. The drinks were good and we had the crispy pork as an appetizer, which we really enjoyed. However, the service was bad. Our waitress was not attentive at all and we waited 30 minutes to simply get the check. We had to ask the manager twice to please get our server. I really hope that they get better as time goes on because it is truly a very unique spot and one of a kind here in the Bronx. read more

I wasn't too sure about the place at the beginning based on the other Yelp reviews. I still made a reservation for my friend's birthday at 9:00pm on a Friday night. After arriving to the place, we were seated within 5 minutes. The Chinola mojitos were nice and strong. The appetizer were good and the Ropa vieja was good too. Their portion of their entrees are nice and big. The live music and the DJ set was good. Love the place, it made me feel like I was in a tropical island for a minute. I took plenty of pictures. When i reminded the hostess that we were still waiting she seemed unconcerned. I went there Sat 1th, and even though i was having a nice time, live music and amazing service, there was a problem. So i ordered a Cuban Cazuela which in the menu does not specify spicy food anywhere. it was too hot to handle, don't get me wrong i wouldn't mind a little spicy but, this was a little too much for my taste, after a while waitress ask if there was anything wrong and i told her about it and she talk to the chef, after the chef taste the food she realized it was too spicy and politely said i'll make another one and you can take it home if you like, i told her ok, but then, a manager came and tried to talk me in to taking the food back and fix it which a said no to. So the manager ask me if i was sure, i said yes im positive and then he offer me a desert for free, i told him i didn't want any dessert, then he turned away. Keep in mind this was during covid so there was a limited capacity so there was plenty of empty sitting,,an the drinks where trash straight liquor as if they want you to get intoxicated and spend more money,,then it was drizzling before we arrived and they never wiped the sits so we sat on wet chairs,, an when we complained to they just brung us napkins,,we personally don't go to a restaurant to hear about politics but at one point the band stopped playing and started to talk politics this is not a place for that,after dinner we ordered another round of drinks an we waited for over 15 minutes for them an they bring the check along with the drinks as if we where done, the second time we where told there was a dress code so I left my hat with the bouncer but as soon as we went up there was plenty of white sneakers and at least two hats on customers,we had to ask for napkins 3 times before they bring them to our table,food gets a 4 ratting both times,then they lost my card it took them over 10 minutes to find it but it felt like an hour because that's not something to play with,there was a few more minor things but I think I said enough and experience enough from there so me an all my associates will no longer dine there ever,I can think of dozens of cheaper places to dine that with better Service. Beautiful Place however a lot wasn't avail on the day we went. No drink menus at the bar , no corona's and a few menu items. The service at the bar was not good waited a while for water , got our apps waited a while for silverware and plates had to ask 4 times for our bill which they don't tell you gratuity is already added wether you order just one drink or a meal there's gratuity which is fine but they should let the guests know that! I think the bartender was trying to get over honestly bc she would just tell me the total and give me the receipt to sign only which I thought was weird. So basically I was doubling up her tip the whole night till I realized after she charged me 18$ for a shot of ciroc and thought to myself wow 18$ for a shot that can't be right. I just had an amazing experience here on this Sunday. The ambiance was amazing but they were not organized whatsoever. We had to wait for a table which was understandable because of the decor and music. So I went to the bar and ordered a drink. But their card machine wasn't working so they had to do the old school receipts, hand written. I got a Henny Margarita that was $18 dollars but they charged me $22 so that threw me off. When we sat down to eat out doors the live band came on and it was amazing. I enjoyed while eating a delightful dinner. The bill came and I paid with a card my friend paid cash. My friend had change remanding from the bill which would have allowed her to leave a chosen tip. But gratuity was added to the bill in small print under the sub total. If she didn't read the receipt closely we would have double the tip. I didn't think to take a picture of that original receipt. But they add gratuity for a two at a table seating.
