had a very disappointing experience at Zona Fresca. As soon as we walked in, there was a very unpleasant smell inside the restaurant. Despite that, we decided to order food and planned to sit outside to avoid the odor. We paid for our meal and then waited... and waited. The employee behind the counter was calling out order numbers, but ours was never called -- even though many customers who ordered after us received their food before we did. After standing there for quite a while, he finally asked if we needed help. I explained that we were still waiting for our order. He checked with the kitchen staff, and they responded dismissively in Spanish. We continued waiting while more orders were being called, but no one seemed to care about us or follow up. Eventually, I went back to the cashier and asked to cancel the order. He responded with irritation and said our order was canceled in a rude tone. We ended up leaving and going to another restaurant, where we received great service and excellent food. Overall, this was a frustrating and unpleasant experience. Poor service, lack of communication, and an unwelcoming atmosphere -- I would not recommend this place. read more

So fresh and delicious. It's a gem, tucked away in the corner of the parking lot. The food is always so good and feels guilty free. My favorite and go to is the taco bowl, typically with chicken but I like it with steak. It's a fast, casual spot to get tasty and fresh food. Prices are reasonable and the service is efficient. Ordered Zona Fresca via Uber eats for lunch at the office. Tried the nachos and it was delicious! Chips were nice and crispy and the toppings were on point. I personally lived that they have a Salsa bar where you can get Pico de gallo, habanero salsa, tomatillo/avocado salsa, or salsa fresca. You can't have Mexican food without salsa! Personally tried a little of each and they were all delicious and fresh. Ordered the Machaga Burrito - and guess what. You can make any burrito enchilada style! It was soooooo good and filled me up to the point of almost exploding. It was delicious. You can't beat the price on it. I placed an order through EzCater for a "Service Appreciation Day Luncheon" for our maintenance professionals and received feedback that the food was of poor quality, and quesadillas had no cheese, and was overall very unenjoyable. I contacted the restaurant (Plantation, FL) and was told the only resolution that could be provided was a $25 gift card/credit. We ordered a party platter for a group of 10-12 people which I advised was unacceptable. I received an attitude and was told that they needed to be able to "stay in business" and that she asked the kitchen who prepared the food and they (obviously) stated the food was properly prepared and sent out the way it usually is. 1. Why would an adult group of professionals who had been anticipating a company luncheon for WEEKS, advise food was not of quality if the food was in fact, of quality? Our staff ended up ordering their OWN food. I received attitude, and no real attempt to resolve the matter or escalate. We will NOT be ordering from them again. They attempted to find fault with EzCater for the quality of the food and reiterated that we ordered trough EzCater and not directly through the restaurant. What difference does it make if Zona Fresca of Plantation, FL PREPARED the food? I highly doubt EzCater removed cheese from the quesadillas. If this is how you "ordinarily" send food out, you might not want to stay in business anyway. The lady was so defensive, that while I ASKED what her options were to rectify the situation, she ASSUMED I requested $25 gift cards for each of our staff, rather than understanding how FOOLISH her resolution of one gift card/credit for $25 sounded, AND advising we would need to go pick it up and LATER changed it to she could deliver the card "if we provided our address". In any event, we will not be reordering. The company is very unprofessional and I hope this review is widely considered before any customers order for future. read more

Best place for great fresh Baja Mexican food. Everything is super fresh, and I love that they have a self-service salsa bar with a great variety. Pickled whole Jalapeños and a tomatillo salsa that I love. I also like the pickled carrots and onions to put into my street tacos. They have plenty of inside seating at hightops and standard tables and a few standard tables outside. The beverages are Pepsi and also self service foe refills. Their prices are great because most items come with fresh chips and rice and beans. They have a few family recipes they serve that you won't find in the chain taco shops that seem to claim they have authentic Mexican fare. Staff is always friendly and they play good Latin music, I eat in just to listen to the . You can customize the options. I typically get the gringo tacos with the corn tortillas. I remember when the first Zona Fresca opened on Federal HWY in FLL.... There was never any parking, huge lines and they served all their dishes with charred green onions.. (I loved) While convalescing in Plantation, we took advantage of having a Zona Fresca right down the road on University. We went twice in a week. Never a crowd. Plenty of parking, heavily staffed and prices have sky rocketed. The quality is still there, salsa bar still amply stocked, but NO charred green onions. Staff was unfamiliar with the charred green onions that came with every plate - in FLL. If I recall, my fish tacos were $3.95 a piece. They tasted the same. Fresh, hot freshly cooked. I have no clue what plates with rice and beans go for - we just ordered the 3 taco plates. I would go here again when in Plantation. I hope they survive. I got a burrito bowl, nachos, and pozole soup. Nachos are severely burnt, i requested burrito bowl to be in a bed of lettuce, it was loaded up with rice instead. Ok, I guess I can try to pick out the rice from my food... Soup was completely missing.... Where is the quality control? Called the restaurant. I was told the manager, Rosa, was not in. Spoke with Gabby, she tried to be helpful to offer in-store credit. I appreciate her trying to make it right. Uber Eats offered a $7 refund, thats not even enough to cover missing soup. The associates are ALWAYS kind, especially Dennis, the gentleman who handles orders and cashing out at the register. To whom it concerns, Dennis deserves a RAISE! He's been there for two years every time we go he is there. It's NOT EASY at all to find solid employees that stick around. So my suggestion is to give him a raise and or promotion immediately. So we tuck into Zona and get grilled chicken cooked in front of us (not chopped and put into a square container on a prep line like similar businesses). We ask for extra grilled veggies - and even warmed tortilla chips on a busy weekend - and they gracefully accommodate. We make sure to get ice-cold shrimp and fish ceviche. It's lightly kissed with the brine of green olives and citrus juice so the clean taste of seafood can shine through. This is the only place I trust to get ceviche - this storefront restaurant consistently produces great tasting product because they actually care about our experience. We LOVE the marinated carrots, jalapeno and onion combo on the salsa bar. And the whole grilled hot peppers, along with the salsas - ranging hot to not. Beyond the cleanliness of the restaurant, we're so impressed by the helpful attitude of the employees and management. We feel like we're visiting friends when we go there. Sometimes I forget this place is here since it's location is kind of hidden. I love their food. I decided to go recently, and got the chicken quesadilla. It comes with sour cream and guacamole. They have a salsa bar for you to get extra toppings as well. I appreciate the service here. Even during lunch time when the place is swarmed with people all coming to get food at once, there's still order and great customer service. The employees are all smiling and greet you. Their way of telling you your food is ready is smart too. They give you a number on your receipt, and they call it out over a microphone as soon as it's done. My GF got a burrito but in reality it was a wrap that had maybe 3 shreds of cheese in it. The salsa bar was nice and fresh but you can't bury the lack of flavor with the salsas.
