The crinkle fries were a bit cold on delivery but overall I really enjoyed the gyro- it was fresh with salad, tomato and gyro meat and on a chewy flavorful pita! This is my new favorite Greek restaurant. I am lactose intolerant and asked about the breading on their fried calamari. The waitress told me that it did indeed have milk in it. The owner/chef then came out and offered to broil it for me. I thanked him but said I prefer it fried. We then ordered our dinners, lamb kabob platter for my husband, and veggie pita for me. A little while later, the chef brings out a plate of fried calamari with a light, delicious breading. No milk and on the house. Everything was delicious and perfectly done. Don't miss the baklava! Zorba's deserves a higher rating than it currently has. It has a great location in a brick courtyard. Seems like a small, family-run business, so perhaps not as fast with service, but the food is SPECTACULAR. We ordered horiatiki ("greek salad" on the menu), beef kabob (insanely tender meat!), lamb kabob, moussaka ("lasagna" on the menu; possibly the best we've ever tasted), and finished with baklava. All the flavors were incredible, meat was high quality and perfectly cooked, and the rice was perfect as well. If we find ourselves in Occoquan again, we will certainly be back. read more

I was a long time fan of the restaurant that previously occupied their space, and was excited to see that a new restaurant was finally opening there, and that it was going to be a Greek restaurant. Let me start out by saying that they give you a ton of food for the price!! It's nothing fancy and I've had better Greek food, but the prices they charge reflect this I feel. We started with a few apps and my part Greek fiancée was impressed with the Greek sampler app! I didn't like the calamari we also ordered and would skip that next time. We just ate here a few nights ago and the food was wonderful! Great appetizer, soup, salad, & entrees! We got the appetizer sampler and it was both delicious and plentiful! The soup was the Greek lemon, chicken and rice soup. Very nice, but it was kind of lukewarm. Not sure if I'd get that again. The salad was dressed beautifully and it was very fresh! For my entree, I had the Pasticcio which was wonderful. It was a huge portion, so I saved some for lunch and got two more meals from it - that's how much there was!! My friend had the eggplant parm and she loved hers as well. We even had dessert and I had Greek coffee. The dessert was cheesecake wrapped in phyllo and lightly covered in a citrus honey. It was amazing! Save room for that one. The coffee was also very nice. The ambiance was nice, but it was a little chilly inside, so keep your wrap handy. They were training our server, and it was her first night, but she did a very nice job. The owner (I think) was also there, and she was amazing. Great discovery while walking around Occoquan Valentine's Day weekend. Really enjoyed the filling Greek Omelette, potatoes, pita bread w/Greek yogurt no complaints! Service was pleasant and connected w/personable family owner Panicos. Am acquainted w/his relatives and great family owned restaurants/businesses in Alexandria, VA! Warm friendly people! Ambience here is quite nice on the patio. There was one wait person so the service was incredibly slow. She was lovely but understaffed. We had a large party of ten and 40+ mins transpired between the first and last entree being served. The gazpacho folks found overly spicy while the remaining meat entrees were quite bland. Was happy when this place opened up in our neighborhood as I love Mediterranean food and it's well tailored to my many food allergies. Finally tried it out last night and was very happy!!! I got the lamb kabob ( I love lamb!!!) with rice pilaf and a salad. The salad had yummy dolmades on it and it was so tasty ( will be back for a big plate of those). The portion size was quite large and I'm having leftovers for lunch today!! Service was good and we were checked on often. Such a cute restaurant and I'm sure in the nicer weather their large patio would be a great place to hang and savor the delicious food. Portions were large without sacrificing quality. I took the family here for Sunday lunch. They had a variety of items on the menu that I thought my kids, who are kind of picky, would like. I had the chicken souvlaki sandwich. It was pretty good, but the chicken was pretty sparse. The pita bread was nice and soft. My kids just had the burgers and spaghetti. For the burgers, you can add extras like cheese, bacon, and a fried egg for additional costs. Overall, the prices were very reasonable and much better quality than a chain restaurant. read more

This was pretty rough. Location is nice, but that's all I can say. Pizza was very, very undercooked and they brought out daughters pizza about 15 minutes after my seafood combo, for which the rice (awful) and tzatziki (worse) came out after I had to ask for them. So, I'm not Greek, but I've lived in Greece. The tzatziki offered here was literally Greek yogurt with dill in it. That's all. My seafood combo was pretty much what I'd expect at a bad Red Lobster. From the photo, you can see 98% breading (also undercooked) and 2% calamari. To add to the atmosphere, the waitresses were full arguing with each other in the open and when I didn't get the check while we sat there for 15 minutes, I went inside to pay. The gentleman rang me up but then I found out a "service charge" was added to my bill that was the tip. The waitress didn't know this and proceeded to very loudly - in front of all the customers - ask "where's my tip". She then attempted to charge me a soda so I can then give her an adequate tip. What?!? The guy who rang me up had to explain to her tip was given via credit card. Overall, I genuinely felt like I was on a Gordon Ramsay hidden camera restaurant show. My daughter and I ate here today before starting our trek through the Artisan Market. The waitress came and "wrote down" our order. We waited a good 10 minutes for our water to arrive and I never received my coke. My daughter's gyro came with Greek potatoes which she said was good. My food did not arrive. After waiting another 7-10 minutes, the waitress came by and saw my frustration. She ran back to the kitchen to "check" on my club sandwich. No meat to cook, just place it on the bread. Why it wasn't ready with the gyro is a mystery. My sandwich arrived with regular fries, which were warm, not hot or fresh. Upon our finishing eating, the waitress asked if I would like a box. I respond, yes. The box never arrived. However the check did make its way to our table in a very timely manner. Obviously, there is a disconnect in service based on all the 4 and 5 star reviews. We will eat Greek elsewhere. read more

My wife and I were down in Occoquan a few weeks ago and it lunch was getting late in the afternoon so we were looking for a place for a quick bite for a late lunch. We stumbled upon Zorba's Grill and what an amazing find. The meal was as if we were transported back to Turkey or Greece, the service was warm, welcoming and very genuine. After speaking by with the waitress, discovered her and her husband own the business and the husband is the chef. We've made a few return trips and have never been disappointed. A small restaurant tucked behind an ice cream parlor and a couple of shops, Zorbas doesn't look like much from the outside or the inside, for that matter. Yet the food is really good. A nearby store recommended trying the pizza at Zorbas but I opted for the chicken, and will have to try the pizza on another visit. I split the baklava but really wanted to eat the whole thing myself. Final words: Easy to overlook and unassuming, but the food is really good. Give it a chance. read more

Just had a delightful lunch with a friend. It is a hazy, chilly day and the inside of Zorba's Grill is bright and cheerful. The outside garden area is lovely. We both had lamb kebobs on rice accompanied by 2 sides, a small Greek salad and Greek potatoes. I had enough left over for a dinner meal. The food was fresh and tasty. Tried this place for the first time. Next time I'm coming I'll update my post with food pics. The waitress was really nice. This place is hidden in the little courtyard but it's a cute spot with indoor and outdoor seating. They just opened a month ago. I had the Reuben and my husband had the mushroom Swiss burger. I really want to try the moussaka so that's up next. Everything tastes great. The meat in both dishes was flavorful and moist. I tried their coleslaw and was really good! Fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall a good experience. I'll definitely try more Greek dishes next time. The Greek dishes have bigger portions, and I was looking for something light .. so went with the smaller sandwiches. I suggest you give this spot a try :) read more

This little restaurant is in a perfect location in Occoquan. The outside seating is in a quaint courtyard so it's perfect on a nice afternoon or evening. I've been here twice , I've had the dip trio , the Pastitsio, Halloumi, and the Bifteki. All were delicious and the best part was each main dish was enough for two portions so I had lunch for the next day. I look forward to trying more on the menu. I was excited to try this restaurant but was very disappointed. I ordered a falafel pita sandwich and asked to hold the feta and taziki and asked if they could serve my sandwich with a different sauce. The waitress immediately told me "we're not doing substitutions anymore." I expressed to her that I cannot tolerate dairy and would it be ok to just give me the sauce on the side. She said no so I asked her to double check, when she came back she said that management said I'd need to pay an additional charge of $2.00 for replacing the dairy based sauce. I have a health issue and cannot tolerate dairy and have never had any restaurant act this way. I was polite but decided to just leave and they couldn't have cared less. (They weren't busy and multiple employees were sitting down inside when I arrived so it's not like I asked for a substitution during a rush). read more
