Just finished at Zov's and I'm pretty satisfied with my experience. This is the Newport Beach location and they did a great job accommodating our large party of 15. It's located in the same shopping center as Pavillion's. Parking is pretty good, we didn't have any issue finding parking. The place itself is very clean and has a dog friendly patio. They were able to seat or large party of 15 with ease. Service was great. We had two servers for our large party and they were great and super kind. They were very attentive to our table and they did great making conversation with us. They seemed like they knew a lot about the cultures food cause they did a great job at explaining all the food to us. The food was pretty yummy! On the platter, the red pepper feta was my favorite! The eggplant fries were really yummy! I couldn't even tell that they were eggplants. The kebab was yummy! I preferred the beef over the chicken. The sea bass was super good! I honestly think that's my favorite. This place was really good. It's a bit on the pricey end but I think it's worth what you pay for. I think there's a couple locations through OC as well.

We didn't realize this was a sit-down restaurant vs a cafe style until we arrived. Nevertheless, their golden lentil soup was very delicious and savory! Also got their watermelon salad (such a unique and different perspective than the usual salad) and their salmon salad with side of lentil rice, which was enjoyed for a nice light weekend brunch. Service was friendly as well. Thank you!

While staying down the coast in Laguna Beach, I heard of this mini-chain and decided to visit the Newport Coast location. Parking is easy in a mini mall lot and the restaurant is tucked into the corner. The room is modern and sleek with a bar in front and both inside and outside tables. We slid into a booth along a wall and were impressed by every dish, the authenticity and consistency of the Mediterranean theme, speed of service and the hospitality. The lamb burger is juicy, flavorful and satisfying. It is also served with some very crunchy fries (twice fried?) that were addicting. The angel hair pasta dish was well-balanced and flavorful. And I highly recommend the truly Ridiculous Sundae to finish. I can see why this restaurant group has grown and am looking forward to a return visit.

This was my first time at Zov's and just wow! The ambiance was very nice and upscale as well as inviting. The staff was quick and very on top of everything especially when introducing the chefs specials for the night. Food was cooked to perfection and was a nice portion size. I would absolutely recommend you try the spiced lamb burger!

Went here for lunch on a Monday. Not very busy and seated right away. Our server James did a great job explaining the food and drink options. We ordered an Orange Avenue Wit draft and Santorini Spritz to drink. The spritz was sweet and refreshing. To eat we had the Spicy Lamb Burger with fries and Chop Chop salad with chicken. Both meals were tasty and well made. The restaurant is located in the corner of the lot. Parking is adequate, but busy. The restaurant itself is clean, orderly and welcoming. We sat outside near a pleasant fountain. Outside patio is spacious and has fixed and mobile heating units. Meal and service was great, will definitely return.

First time to eat here. I will definitely be back. I had the Beef Pappardelle and my wife had the Pistachio crusted Sea Bass. Both dishes were amazing. I rarely eat a full entree but I even finished hers.I think our server was Alyssa and she did a great job as well!

We like Zov's and have dined here a few times. They have a nice, covered patio with heat lamps, and they are dog friendly. Their manager was very accommodating, taking a patio reservation for our party of eight on a busy Friday night, so that a dog could join our dinner. I had the KEBOB TWO WAYS $28.95. The dish included an angus beef tenderloin, marinated grilled chicken breast, jasmine rice pilaf, tomato cucumber salad, and yogurt mint sauce. I thought it was very tasty, the chicken was a little bit dry. My co-diners had a wide array of dishes, and everyone seemed pretty happy with their choices. The service was good throughout dinner. A solid 4-stars for this visit.

Nice little gem deeper in the Newport Coast. Very casual, quiet, laid back atmosphere with very good service. Food was very good. I had the spiced lamb burger and the mezze platter. Platter was huge and we didn't make much of a dent. Burger was pretty tasty, wasn't dry at all. Good beer choices. Plenty of parking in the lot. Wasn't empty on a Saturday night, but no wait either.

Amazing Greek salad with shrimp. The dressing is so good!

Angie and I went to lunch on Friday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Angie had a small Greek salad with shrimp added, and I went with the lamb burger and the famous lentil soup. The lamb burger was seasoned and cooked perfectly! Everything was wonderful! Angie said that she wanted to lick the plate as the dressing was so delicious. We sat outside on the patio on a lovely sunny day. The service was terrific. This is a great place to have lunch.

We visited on a Thursday to celebrate a birthday. We sat in a booth. Good lighting fixtures that were dimmed at about 6:30. We liked the golden lentil soup appetizer, rather like split pea soup! The server asked if we wanted it as an appetizer or as a main dish. Great warm bread rolls with soft butter. Enjoyed the pistachio coated sea bass on a dark quinoa cake that rested on refreshingly acidic greens. Great short rib pappardelle, that could perhaps have been served with vegetables, such as a separate dish of vegetable purée. Birthday dessert was a Ridiculous Sundae! Brought to the table in layers in a jar on a plate drizzled with caramel. Remember to ask for a dessert menu. The server was helpful and friendly; a family member also said hello.

Is there a kids menu for dinner?

We had brunch there and they did have a kids menu for that. Not sure about dinner but I'd bet they do.

How crowded does this location get on Fridays at lunchtime (noon to about 2pm)?

Is the pita vegan or does it have milk in it? I didn't see any entres that were vegan. Did I miss anything?

Jak, our pita bread is definitely vegan. ours is definitely vegan, but as a rule, pita bread should not have any dairy products in it. I hope this helps.

Do they like casual people there?

Yes definately it is casual.

Is it ok to eat with your pet outside on the patio?

Yes!!!

I didn't think anyone could ruin Persian food. I'm not Persian, yet I could make better than what they served us. The shawarma was bland. The koobideh was bland and tasted old. The chicken skewer was okay not as off-tasting as the beef. I noticed the skewers were already half-cooked and then just thrown on the grill to heat up. They tasted like they were a couple of days old. Why not cook them to order? They weren't busy at all, even on a very busy holiday weekend. The only thing that wasn't as disappointing was the iceberg lettuce "salad." Also, I'm sure rent near the beach is expensive, but c'mon hand soap is under $5. There's no excuse for soap that's basically 1% soap and 99% water. How are employees washing their hands after using the restroom? There were no paper towels or seat covers either but that hardly matters if there isn't proper hand soap to begin with. Even the paper plates were cheap. The food is terrible, and the place feels so run down like the owner or cook has lost all passion. Either that, or all the energy went into collecting celebrity photos to display in the restaurant.

I have to preface my review by saying that my father is a Moroccan Amazigh (aka Morocco's version…read moreof Native Americans in the US). Naturally Moroccan food is something I grew up with, a comfort food, and something I am a bit critical of. I've dined at many Moroccan restaurants domestically and abroad. I've left pretty much all of those restaurants feeling that the food was average. Today Casablanca became the exception. My sister booked a reservation for Mother's Day and I was looking forward to a Moroccan meal at a restaurant I hadn't heard about. My expectations weren't high due to my prior experiences and Casablanca quickly surpassed that bar and every meal exceed my highest of expectations. We ordered bastilla with chicken and almonds, a honey lamb tangine, lemon chicken tangine (one of my favorite meals), couscous with a mix of skewers, lamb sausage couscous, sea bass, Baklava, crème brulee, stuffed dates, and ice cream. It's often the attention to detail in the simplest components that typically make something special. From the texture of the couscous to the lemon chicken sauce and how the green olives absorbed the flavor was perfect. Bastilla is a very tough dish for me to like due to me preferring savory over sweet. Finding the balance of the flavors is difficult and often what is missed. Today was the first time I went back for more bastilla outside of when my aunts cooked it. The lemon chicken was incredibly flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. the Royal Couscous had various skews that were all delicious and tasted how you'd expect it to when the Moroccan aunties are getting down in the kitchen. I'm not a big lamb guy, but the lamb here wasn't gamey and fell off of the bone. The rest of the meals and desserts were equally delicious. The owner is an Algerian Amazigh and the staff was Moroccan and French. It is obvious they have a passion for what they do and truly care about their clients. My father speaks Tamazight, Arabic, and French. So he was able to speak to all the staff in their native language. The love and care they showed was wonderful and I'm sure they show this same warmth to all of their clients. I love out of a suitcase for work and get to try food in countless places. LA can spoil you, but it's often the holes in the wall that surprise you and not the trendy or more formal restaurants. Casablanca was an exception to the rule. It just became one of my favorite restaurants in SoCal. Thank you to the owner, friendly staff, and chef for making it even more special for my mom on Mother's Day. P.s. my mother is a Chamorro that has cooked Moroccan food for the last 40 years and is overly critical and as mentioned before my father is Moroccan. Both her and my father left the evening singing their praises and had some left overs when we got home. Sorry this was so long, thanks for coming to my ted talk. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It took a minute to locate the restaurant and figure out parking, but once we arrived at the door, the experience was first-class from beginning to end. The hostess was charming and welcoming, the staff kept our waters filled and the table spotless, and our server, Juan, was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, detailed descriptions, and personal recommendations made ordering easy and built our anticipation for every dish. We started by sharing the beet salad and Chicken Tinga Empanadas with the Gringo Killer Sauce. The beet salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, while the empanadas were packed with rich, savory flavor. The Gringo Killer Sauce added a bold kick that made them especially memorable. My wife ordered the wedge salad, my daughter chose the Grilled Octopus Al Pastor, and I had the 8 oz Picanha special. Every dish was exceptional. The octopus was a creative and flavorful take on al pastor, and the Picanha special was perfectly cooked, tender and was an absolute standout. Everything was so impressive that I sent my compliments to the chef and was fortunate enough to meet Chef Jackie personally. Then came dessert. Juan described a peach cobbler special that immediately had my mouth watering, while my daughter ordered the Espresso Crème Brûlée. Juan returned to our table with three plates and spoons and informed me that Chef Jackie has recommended her specialty. I did not argue, Chef knows best. She surprised me by sending out something different: a slice of Baklava Cheesecake accompanied by a scoop of house-made peach cobbler ice cream. Now, I have eaten some outstanding cheesecakes all around the world, but this Baklava Cheesecake was on an entirely different level. It was rich, layered, perfectly textured and flaky, and so unbelievably delicious that I nearly licked the plate clean. The house-made peach cobbler ice cream was equally impressive--light and creamy, yet captured the full peach cobbler flavor. The Espresso Crème Brûlée was also beautifully executed, with a crisp caramelized sugar shell and a deep, smooth coffee-flavored custard. My daughter ate half of hers before turning her attention to the cheesecake, and she does not even like cheesecake. That alone should tell you how special it was. I live three hours away, but I will absolutely be making the drive back. Lemon & Thyme delivers exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality, creative dishes, and the kind of personal service that turns a meal into a lasting memory. This is my new favorite restaurant!!! Do yourself a favor and make the trip to Lemon & Thyme. Ask for Juan, trust Chef Jackie, and do not leave without desert.
