We had a company event here and booked the room in the front on the left. It has a lovely view of the sunset so we have a good team building. The food was a pre-set 3 course meal with soup, salad and a choice of salmon or steak. It also ended with a lovely chocolate mousse cake. The cocktails were also fantastic with lovely staff. Will definitely be back for a date night. Parking is valet for $6 but if you drive down a bit, you can also park yourself.

This was a fun little place to happen upon. I'm surprised we haven't been in sooner. Located right on PCH, it's a beautiful spot. We sat at the bar, I loved the comfy barstools. The view was really nice outside the windows. We came for lunch and had a great bartender on staff. He was super helpful in explaining the menu. We got the BBQ oysters. I usually love grilled oysters, these weren't my fave. I didn't love the chipotle flavor, but that's just a personal preference. They were cooked well, and presented beautifully. We got the Buddha Bowl with Ahi. That had good flavor. The ahi was a great cut and was seasoned well. We also got the Lobster and Shrimp Louis. It was a good amount of protein. Fairly simple and straight forward. I want to come back and try some other items off the menu. It was good, but I am hoping to try something great. The vibe here is clean and nice, not overly fancy. The staff is cool. The views are nice. Will be back.

Better than ever (is that even possible?)! My favorite OC restaurant. Upscale casual atmosphere, outstanding service and truly creative and flavorful food create a 5-star experience. It's comfort food taken to a higher level without the pretension and arrogance of a foodie hangout. Couples, singles, groups and families are all welcome to enjoy their favorite dishes, some familiar and some pleasantly surprising. The Tavern Greens Salad, French Onion Soup, Garlic Bread, Grilled Filet Mignon Steak Skewers, French Onion Filet Mignon and the Bananageddon were all fantastic.

Stumbled on this place in social media and every time we've driven on PCH, then finally was able to make it for happy hour. Honestly, one of the best and most diverse happy hour menus with good deals, would recommend if you're looking for a good happy hour menu. For two of us, it was very filling and we still had leftovers, and it was very tasty. The prosciutto flatbread exceeded my expectations! Sarah, our server, answered all our questions and was very kind with us. And of course the view- who can beat this view?! Of course you may not get this view throughout the restaurant, but, we LOVED it! If you're looking for happy hour in Newport, check this place out!

We had a Five-Star Experience at Tavern House Kitchen and Bar. Tavern House Kitchen + Bar is located in the heart of Newport Beach with a stunning view of the Newport Beach Bay. We came for lunch and we were seated by a window with a lovely view of the marina. The restaurant has a romantic and cozy vibe, offering comfortable seating and a huge bar area serving delicious cocktails and wines from their own wine cellar. Our server, was outstanding-professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She offered thoughtful recommendations and provided detailed descriptions that made it easy to choose dishes , that we absolutely loved. The food was superb-delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The restaurant offers a great menu with a lot of variety. All of their food is prepared with the highest quality ingredients . They feature creative clean dishes of fresh seafood along with an offering of everyone's favorite comfort foods. We have ordered : a Crispy Coconut Shrimp- the marmalade and mustard sauces were a perfect combination that made this appetizer a MUST TRY!!! , Artisan Flatbreads - were freshly baked and so delicious , definitely the best Artisan flatbreads ever! The Nashville hot fried chicken - lightly fried, not too greasy, great portion! And the Fish and Chips were amazing too - perfectly paired with coleslaw and chipotle tartare sauce ! The restaurant offers a great wine list , signature cocktails, beers, and other drinks. The bar has great happy hour and Saturday brunch specials- highly recommend! Overall: From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. We Highly recommend Tavern House for anyone looking for an outstanding dining experience !!!

We tried Tavern for the first time for date night and sadly, we left pretty disappointed. Let's start with the good: the calamari and shishito peppers was great appetizer and Amber, our server, was fantastic. She was attentive, sweet, and super helpful. Service overall was definitely one of the highlights of the night. The clam chowder and mango sorbet were also delicious, my favorite parts of the whole meal. I'm not usually a sorbet fan, but this one was so good I'd come back just for that! Now for the not so great. The salmon crudo wasn't the best. Came out on the warm side which threw me a bit off. Usually raw fish is served on the chiller or room temperature side. Martin ordered the ribs (they were listed as a special) but he didn't really enjoy them. They were dry, but he still worked through them. I was excited for the prime rib, but when it came out it was completely well done. I prefer mine rare to medium rare, so it was very disappointing. Amber immediately took it back, and the manager came over to explain that the entire cut that night had been cooked all the way through, so unfortunately there wasn't a medium rare option available. I get that mistakes happen, but it was still a letdown. I switched to the filet mignon combo instead, which was just okay -- but again I loved the clam chowder. The location is beautiful, right on the water with a nice atmosphere, but because the service was so awesome, I'd give Tavern another shot to try their prime rib on another night. I'll probably stick with the clam chowder, calamari, and definitely the mango sorbet, and give the prime rib one more try before making my final call on this spot. Stay tuned!

Didn't plan it but we made it to the last 10 minutes of Happy Hour! We were first seated on the side for the better view of the marina , but happy hour could only be ordered at the bar inside so I sacrificed my sunny view for some happy eats and drinks. Glad we did because we had great conversations and service with the bartender/waiter ! Happy hour was definitely worth it. I was so full from all the variety and apps ordered. French dip sliders, clam chowder, shrimp were all good. We also ordered the flat bread but since it was forgotten to be put in, we told the guy to cancel it since we were already stuffed. Whiskey ginger and espresso martini was made really good too!

Always amazing food never been disappointed in anything that we had here. The happy hour is seven days a week from 4 to 6 and I highly recommend the pokey.

Very nice Venue, warm and cozy with waterside views of beautiful boats/yachts. Seating also ample and the food was also pretty good. Was whist hanging out with a group of friends and we all sort of ordered the same so can't say we had much variety to flavor but definitely planning come back. I personally ordered the Chilean sea bass which was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked sea bass on top of a creamy mashed potatoes and topped with try h crispy fried onions. The onions were a perfect crisp. It also had a slight wasabi flavor to it which gave it a freshness. The rest of the table ordered the Buddha bowl with different protein which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Thought was a little more rice than was hoping but tastefully done. The tuna protein was the best in my opinion. Overall great place for date night and for gathering of friends. Larger tables and private dining also available in the other side of the restaurant hall if you're looking for an event planning. Would definitely come back again.

    Good times!

wWe love coming to Tavern house! The staff is awesome! Giovanni, Levy, Sarah, and Tatiana are always the most welcoming wonderful people! We love sitting at the bar and watching sports with them, even though Giovanni doesn't know the first thing about sports! We love our conversation and laughter. It is always a good time. We always seem to meet someone new and it's enjoyable! Keep up the good work. See you AGAIN soon.

My husband and I visited a few days ago and it's still an absolutely beautiful view while dining. We had not been here in a long time and decided to come back. Restaurant wasn't crowded but there were not many Servers. Our Server was very sweet though and the Ahi tuna burgers were really good. Their carrot cake is definitely decadent! We dine out almost daily so it's something we truly enjoy and are blessed to be able to do so. The food is still good and we hope to come back in the future.

Luke's Lobster in Balboa was another birthday treat from the wife, and she wanted to take me here…read morebecause she knows I love lobster and crab rolls, or really just lobster and crab in general. Now here's the thing, I've never really had a great lobster roll. It's always been so overpriced for the lack of flavor and just never really worth it. Luke's was the first and truly one of the best places I've had a lobster roll, and honestly it was kinda shocking. We ended up getting the flight, which came with a crab roll, a shrimp roll, and a lobster roll, and all three were phenomenal. But what completely shocked me was that the shrimp roll was a hundred percent the best of the bunch. The butter it came with, that pure savory sweet ocean saltiness, the bread, the butteriness of it, I wish I had ten of them. I could have sat there and eaten all of them right then and there. The shrimp roll was number one for sure, which really surprised me, but it was that good. The lobster roll was a solid second. Great amount of lobster too, and I mean this isn't the kind of place that gives you two or three sad little pieces, they pack a whole handful of lobster in there, which I really appreciated. If you're paying a pretty penny for it, at least they came through with a generous amount. The crab roll though, that one completely fell short. I wasn't too bummed since I was way more locked in on the lobster, but the crab just wasn't there. I don't know if the crab itself just didn't have the flavor this catch around, but it tasted like watered down salt with a little bit of butter. So yeah, that one was not great. Lobster and shrimp though, wonderful. The clam chowder was also really good. I added a little pepper just to give it an extra kick and a little bite, and it was great. The staff were so sweet too, super welcoming and helpful, especially since it was our first time and we had no clue what to get. We hit them with a bunch of questions just to get their insight and hear what their favorites were, and they were awesome about it, really welcoming and just genuinely sweet and helpful. This is definitely one I'd love to go back to, and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a good lobster roll. Truly a good place in my opinion.

Most of their fish range from $32-35 per pound and their Mexican white shrimp were $25/lb. I do very much plan to come back but this would not be a frequent stop for me

We kicked off dinner with a round of drinks: an espresso martini with a nice touch of cinnamon, a refreshing margarita, a tall draft beer, and a tequila margarita. Everything from the bar was top-notch. The seafood was definitely the highlight. We ordered a massive spread of oysters on the half shell, both classic and dressed with ponzu, scallions, and tobiko. We also shared a fantastic salmon and avocado specialty roll, along with sashimi and crudo plates that tasted super fresh. Overall, the coastal vibe is fantastic and the food and drinks are great, but hopefully service is a bit sharper next time!

Totally understandable as it's peak summer, and a weekend, they get busy. The restaurant was hot and humid. Now I'm sure they have AC, and even with all the windows and patio doors being open, they really should have opted to use the AC. The entire dining experience was uncomfortable. We ate our meal literally sweating. Even our server was sweating lol All our drinks went room temp in a matter of 10 minutes, we had to repeatedly ask for glasses of ice from the bar just to try and mitigate our body temperatures somehow. Also, the booth itself was incredibly tacky. And I don't mean visually tacky, I mean the texture. The feeling of plastic when it gets really old and it feels sticky to the touch, that tacky. You couldn't slide in or out of that booth if your life depended on it. And again, considering how humid and hot the interior was, it only made it worse. The lighting was also so dim that it gave the vibes of being sat in the corner of a musky Denny's diner lol. Halfway through our meal they turned the lights off for dinner service (I get it, to set the mood) but it made the table so dark we had to ask them to turn them back on so we could see the food on our plates. It wasn't that the entire restaurant was dim, it's certain tables (and sadly ours was definitely one of them) We had a party of 6, and one person got their meal well before the rest of the table. We of course insisted she begin eating, which she did, and our remaining meals came out as soon as she was done with hers. The waiter removed her plate as he set down everyone else's lol. The food was good, but, again with how uncomfortable the environment was, it was hard to enjoy. The restaurant was also fairly empty throughout our meal. We got there before 5 so that awkward "linner" time frame. Even so, we had to flag down our waiter for another round of drinks, water, etc. The Shorebird absolutely has stunning views, and that's what they're known for. Their food is solid, mist dishes fairly justifies the high price point. This visit was just not their best. Overall service and ambiance, fell extremely flat. I set the bar high for my guests, as they traveled in from out of town and I raved about my experience from a few months back. Granted, I was sat at the patio, overlooking the beautiful view, and the service was impeccable. With all the stellar dining options in Newport, unless you find yourself at a table on the balcony, I don't think Shorebird is the obvious choice. You'll end up spending the money regardless so you may as well look for a spot that is guaranteed to meet the expectations of the price point without having to be dependent on a view.

I went on a monday night and got the baja bucket which was the deal for the night ! The baja bucket contains. 4 lobster tails, 12 shrimp, 2 corn on the cobs, chicken, steam, rice and beans, tortilla, and a salad (or up charge soup) plus fried ice cream at the end. OMG! It was soooo good, the food is flash fried which worked perfectly for this meal. Everything was cooked perfectly, j clouding the lobster. I enjoyed every bite. I will say I split this with my boyfriend and there was sooo much food that by the time the ice cream came around it was hard to fully indulge in because I was so stuffed! Modal night the deal brings this meal to about 70/80 dollars. That is honestly so much food and hard to come by in 2026! I've been telling so many of my friends about the experience here. The servers were attentive and very knowledgeable. The place looks like a cute tiki dive bar but restaurant style. It' has a cute waterfall that we were able to sit next to. Also their cocktails are nice! Cannot wait to go back

Service: 100/100 Drinks: 50/100…read moreFood: 20/100 Ordered the Golden Sombrero meal ($149 for two) and got the add-on chowder which was actually good. The lobster was good, shrimp pretty meh but the Alaskan King Crab ruined just about everything. Steak was ordered Medium but came out Done, chicken was basic, and corn was chewy and not fresh like it had been boiled, steamed, and then grilled. The margaritas we ordered were too sweet and about 16oz with only one shot in the drink ($18 each) not worth the price for juice and hardly any alcohol. Now, back to the ruinous Alaskan King Crap (not a typo). The crab was molting which means when you crack open the shell there's a leathery skin on the meat inside that's supposed to replace the outer shell when the crab is still growing, this extends to the spikier parts of the crab and if swallowed could cause issues and is dangerous to eat. My girlfriend and I tried to eat around it and see if it was just a few legs but it was the whole damned thing. Our wonderful server offered us a replacement of snow crab but our total bill was never adjusted so we paid for King Crab and never got it. I hear that this is par for the course for this place which is sad because this place used to be pretty legendary. Too bad, I don't recommend but left a star for our server who was awesome.
