When they took us to our table I admit I was upset. A horrible two seater sandwiched between two corner tables so you're being stared at the entire time. But then the vibe of the place takes over and I quickly stopped caring. One of the best restaurant musicians was playing. This guy nailed everything he played and was playing pretty much every genre and decade. The entire restaurant was having a great time. Place was packed for brunch but service was very good. I started with their French Onion Soup which was worth the price. One of the best I've had. Per the menu its French 75's recipe. Brunch was ok. Not the best or worst. I had the breakfast burrito and my wife had the omelette. Both good. Portions were large though so we just enjoyed the ambiance while ignoring the awkwardness of our neighboring tables. Cocktails were good. I saw a guy rocking out to the music on his 4th espresso martini so I ordered one of those. It'll give you both an alcohol and caffeine buzz. Can't imagine drinking 4! True classic marina spot. Being right on the water sets the tone immediately. We had some of the largest oysters I've ever seen, super fresh and worth it. The Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich was juicy, loaded with avocado and pickles, and hit exactly how you want it to. Washed it all down with a beer while watching the boats pass by, perfect Sunday setup. Service was great. They stayed on top of beer refills and cleared plates quickly without interrupting the flow. The ambience is hard to beat. Sitting right on the water with that marina view makes the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. We came in with no reservations and the person at the front desk was so kind and found us seats at the bar. Once we were seated at the bar, we had a great bartender taking care of us. Very attentive. We had a company event here and booked the room in the front on the left. It has a lovely view of the sunset so we have a good team building. The food was a pre-set 3 course meal with soup, salad and a choice of salmon or steak. It also ended with a lovely chocolate mousse cake. The cocktails were also fantastic with lovely staff. The view was really nice outside the windows. We came for lunch and had a great bartender on staff. He was super helpful in explaining the menu. We got the BBQ oysters. I usually love grilled oysters, these weren't my fave. I didn't love the chipotle flavor, but that's just a personal preference. They were cooked well, and presented beautifully. We got the Buddha Bowl with Ahi. That had good flavor. The ahi was a great cut and was seasoned well. We also got the Lobster and Shrimp Louis. It was a good amount of protein. Fairly simple and straight forward. I want to come back and try some other items off the menu. It was good, but I am hoping to try something great. The vibe here is clean and nice, not overly fancy. We came here on a Saturday for a early lunch. There is a beautiful view from the restaurant. We had the scrambled eggs and the prime rib sandwich. Woody helped us and she was amazing. Extremely kind and always checked in that everything was going okay. We got our food about 10 minutes after we ordered and it was delicious. Stumbled on this place in social media and every time we've driven on PCH, then finally was able to make it for happy hour. Honestly, one of the best and most diverse happy hour menus with good deals, would recommend if you're looking for a good happy hour menu. Our server, was outstanding-professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She offered thoughtful recommendations and provided detailed descriptions that made it easy to choose dishes , that we absolutely loved. The food was superb-delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The restaurant offers a great menu with a lot of variety. All of their food is prepared with the highest quality ingredients . They feature creative clean dishes of fresh seafood along with an offering of everyone's favorite comfort foods. We tried Tavern for the first time for date night and sadly, we left pretty disappointed. Let's start with the good: the calamari and shishito peppers was great appetizer and Amber, our server, was fantastic. She was attentive, sweet, and super helpful. Service overall was definitely one of the highlights of the night. The clam chowder and mango sorbet were also delicious, my favorite parts of the whole meal. I'm not usually a sorbet fan, but this one was so good I'd come back just for that! Now for the not so great. The salmon crudo wasn't the best. Came out on the warm side which threw me a bit off. Usually raw fish is served on the chiller or room temperature side. Martin ordered the ribs (they were listed as a special) but he didn't really enjoy them. They were dry, but he still worked through them. I was excited for the prime rib, but when it came out it was completely well done. I prefer mine rare to medium rare, so it was very disappointing. Amber immediately took it back, and the manager came over to explain that the entire cut that night had been cooked all the way through, so unfortunately there wasn't a medium rare option available. I get that mistakes happen, but it was still a letdown. I switched to the filet mignon combo instead, which was just okay -- but again I loved the clam chowder. The location is beautiful, right on the water with a nice atmosphere, but because the service was so awesome, I'd give Tavern another shot to try their prime rib on another night. I'll probably stick with the clam chowder, calamari, and definitely the mango sorbet, and give the prime rib one more try before making my final call on this spot. Stay tuned! read more

Didn't plan it but we made it to the last 10 minutes of Happy Hour! We were first seated on the side for the better view of the marina , but happy hour could only be ordered at the bar inside so I sacrificed my sunny view for some happy eats and drinks. Glad we did because we had great conversations and service with the bartender/waiter ! Happy hour was definitely worth it. I was so full from all the variety and apps ordered. French dip sliders, clam chowder, shrimp were all good. We also ordered the flat bread but since it was forgotten to be put in, we told the guy to cancel it since we were already stuffed. I personally ordered the Chilean sea bass which was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked sea bass on top of a creamy mashed potatoes and topped with try h crispy fried onions. The onions were a perfect crisp. It also had a slight wasabi flavor to it which gave it a freshness. The rest of the table ordered the Buddha bowl with different protein which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Thought was a little more rice than was hoping but tastefully done. The tuna protein was the best in my opinion. Overall great place for date night and for gathering of friends. Prices are amazing eight dollar drinks $10 margaritas many items to choose from valet parking $6.00 we had sliders that were delicious with french fries, and French onion soup and we ordered a chocolate soufflé that took 30 minutes to get to it and was awful. The manager took it off our bill which was $20 and if I have known it was $20. I would've never ordered it. The service here is great. The peopleare fun. We come here often. read more

We visited Tavern House with a reservation after calling ahead to confirm that we would be able to watch a World Cup match during our meal. Once we were seated, our server greeted us warmly and provided excellent recommendations, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was disappointing. Throughout our meal, the manager repeatedly approached our table--roughly every five minutes--to ask about the food. While we understand the importance of checking in on guests, the frequency became disruptive, especially as we were trying to enjoy both our dinner and the match. What truly soured the evening was that about an hour and twenty minutes into our visit, the owner asked us to leave our table because it was a "high priority" table. He offered to move us to the bar, but because we had an underage member in our party, that was not a suitable accommodation. Since there were only about thirty minutes left in the match, we agreed that we would leave once it ended. Less than ten minutes later, however, the manager returned and told us that "it was time" for us to leave, offering to buy us a drink at the bar. This was especially frustrating because we had confirmed both before arriving and with our very kind waitress that we could stay for the entirety of the match, which was approximately two hours--a very typical length for a dinner reservation. While our server was wonderful, the repeated interruptions and the way we were pressured to give up our table made the experience feel rushed and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this visit left a negative impression, and we would not recommend dining here. read more

So I had the lobster shrimp sandwich of course with the French onion soup and a salad. Everything is tip top in flavor and portions. My son had the fish and chips which looked amazing. The French onion soup is by far the best I've had and I've had plenty. We came in at 5pm and around 6p people started filling up the place. They have a janky elevator at the front for handicap access but when we needed it for my father, they had to go on a man hunt to find the key for it. This is a great restaurant with great views and usually great food and staff. We are locals and have been going there for years going back to its previous iteration 333 Bistro. We had a party of 6 and went for some cocktails and food during Happy Hour at 4PM for about an hour since we stopped in a boat. The place was empty. We are very aware that Happy Hour is in the bar or right side tables. Since the restaurant had just opened and was not busy at all we requested a window seat. We had no problem sitting anywhere but a nice hostess said no problem as long as we were out in an hour and a half. No problem we would be leaving before that time anyway. This is when things went really wrong starting at the top with the General Manager Jeffrey Grasso and the server. When we asked for the happy hour menus we got a dirty look and attitude from the server and nobody told her that we were going to do a quick HH there. So she summoned the GM who came and was the most demeaning person. He didn't even listen to us so we can let him know his hostess sat us there for Happy Hour and we all agreed we were there for an hour or less. Instead he begins to lecture and belittle us like kids instead of adults. He said, "Okay one round and you're out." And continued by saying, "Are we communicating now?!" When he was doing all the talking. We were in shock he would treat regular Customers that way. He ruined our entire evening...... It was so negative and then things got worse of course. Missed drink orders for over 15 minutes and long hair in the Poke bowl and all along the bar and entire restaurant was almost empty and bar barely 25% full. It wasn't just a miss things happen. It was mistreatment from top management. Also wanted to mention we are all over 60 well dressed and we were not drinking. I am not sure how things can be fixed with the six of us. Newport is a small town and the word will get around if this is how management treats Customers. Attached are some photos or our "hair" in food and photos or the empty restaurant taken during our meal yet they insisted people need to sit in a dark corner just because. Mistakes happen and are forgiven all the time. But demeaning attitudes at the top levels are a big issue. We felt like it was a privilege to eat there? I will start with the positive- the staff was friendly Now the not so great- 1- The steak mashed potato martini. It was a cool idea. The steak would have been better if cut into medallions. It was a very messy chop on the steak, and two of the piece looked as if being held by a string. Also the steak lacked flavoring. 2- The clam chowder had a nice flavor, however we had to send it back three times because it was not even warm. Each time they brought it back out it had a light steam coming off the top, but as soon as we took a spoon on to eat it was barely warm. The fourth bowl came out where the bowl itself was warm and the soup was a bit more on the warm side. I like soup that is it perfectly warm to almost a bit hot you need to blow on it. I questioned if it was exactly safe to eat at the temperature it was being served. 3- The hot chicken sliders and fries. The chicken was warmish. My son felt it was safe enough to eat, but with hesitation. The fries were cold to touch. He ate it all because he was hungry and didn't want to wait for it to be redone. 4- The French onion soup. The flavor was very tasty, but again like the clam chowder was not very warm. The food needs help. I feel like all this food was precooked and just sitting under a warmer. It did not taste like it was freshly prepared and served immediately. It was not busy so not sure why all food was cold to barely warm. Total bill was around $100, and I left there upset at paying that amount for food that was not worth it. I don't like leaving a restaurant and regretting eating out. We ordered some appetizers and drinks for brunch, including the BBQ grilled oysters, calamari, and their house Bloody Mary with the cutest garnish! I loved my drink and the apps were delicious! For my entree, I ordered the chicken and waffles. The gravy was to die for and I loved the addition of the bacon. The portion sizes here are gigantic so you'll definitely have leftovers! Beautiful view and great service. There's indoor and outdoor seatings but if you want to watch the sunset on the water-opt for outdoor; they also allow pets with patio seating. The restaurant is located upstairs but if you're in a wheelchair, it can be a bit complicated because they have this self/restaurant operated lift/elevator that the hostess has to unlock and manually send it down and such. We ordered the French onion, crab/lobster lunch sandwich and the Chilean Sea-bass. All was scrumptious. I normally don't like onion soup but this is by far the best. We also got their mousse pate but I wouldn't recommend it-it had a sweet taste to it which isn't my preference when I'm eating pate. read more

We came to Tavern House Kitchen and Bar for Easter Sunday brunch and had a great overall experience. The location is beautiful, the ambiance was perfect for a holiday meal, and the food and drinks did not disappoint. We ordered a few mimosas and shared a few appetizers--everything was fresh, flavorful, and really well done. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The only hiccup was with my salad. I was initially told there would be no substitutions allowed for the Easter brunch menu, but they were able to accommodate my request to leave off the blue cheese. Unfortunately, it still came out with blue cheese, and I had to send it back. By the time I received the corrected salad, everyone else had already finished eating. That was a bit of a bummer, especially since the salad was actually really good once it came out right. Despite that small issue, it didn't ruin the experience.
