The line was short and the service was fast, although at nearly 2pm this was probably a late lunch for most. The woman behind the cashier was super friendly and helped us choose sandwiches and also gave us some tips on what to check out in the arts district after. I went with the classic sandwich and thought it was pretty tasty. However, my husband and I also split a carrot cake and that was the real winner of the lunch. And I washed it all down with an iced latte, which I regretted later that evening when I couldn't fall asleep due to a late coffee. I have to cut myselff off from caffeine at noon these days. I went in around 10am to order a falafel wrap and a drip coffee to go. The drip coffee was surprisingly good. Nice and dark. While I sat and waited i noticed many of the tables were dirty with crumbs, etc. I was the only person in there at the time so it isn't as if it were especially busy. I had finished my coffee by the time my order was ready so I went to the trash containers to throw away my cup. The containers are a lot like the tall trash containers you find in fast food places, with a flat surface on top for trays, etc. I noticed many people had left their paper cups on top of the containers which I thought was odd until I noticed both containers were overflowing with garbage. At 10 in the morning? Not a good sign. The falafel wrap was okay. The bread was good, the tzatziki was good with fresh tomatoes and cucumber. The falafel was mushy from a mix. So not great. Not real falafel. It doesn't make me want to try the chicken or lamb shawarma. Their inability to keep the customer facing areas clean makes me doubt the sanitation in the kitchen.
