Today I gave this Zumiez another shot, since there aren't many stores that carry this style of clothing...and I'm so glad I did. The store has always had a solid selection, but they've made a complete 180 in terms of customer service. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted by Carlos, who had a genuinely upbeat and welcoming attitude. He asked if we needed help and, when he found out we were shopping for clothes, he casually explained a great in-store promotion on pants and shirts from specific brands. It was actually a perfect fit for what we were looking for and really helpful to know. He let us know he was around if we had any questions, without being pushy. Later, while browsing shirts in the back, I was approached by the store manager, Nat. She was incredibly friendly, fun, and easy to talk to. She helped me navigate the massive selection and pinpoint exactly the style I'd been struggling to find elsewhere. Even though the shirts I chose didn't qualify for the promotion, I still had to have them, they were exactly my son's style. As we explored more, we came across some awesome studded belts and even a classic FSAS belt buckle. I ended up spending way more than I expected -- because I genuinely wanted it all. But I also saved around $50 thanks to the in-store discounts which really made the value increase. If it weren't for Nat and Carlos' top-tier service, I probably wouldn't have found what I was looking for so easily -- and I certainly wouldn't have walked out with as much as I did. Thanks for making this store awesome again. Now all you need is the couch with the Xbox playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater -- so the next generation can chill like we did back in 2005. read more

1. Shoes I ordered due to unavailability at the store were delivered to Stonestown and not Hillsdale. 2. I did not receive a phone call that they arrived at Hillsdale after clearing things over the phone with both Stonestown and Hillsdale regarding the first delivery driver's mistake. 3. Upon desiring to return the shoes night employee firmly asked if they were worn and the answer was yes I stood in them. I did not wear or walk in them as I already felt their comfort but was doubting the appearance. Furthermore the shoes had some thick dust and some scuff marks on them when I opened the box. This store has a strange culture that doesn't understand how to happily and naturally deal with the customer. I could blame the employees or I could blame Zumiez itself for all that I mentioned above collectively taken into consideration. Journeys took care of me and I'm a happy camper. read more

Huge thank you to Dante at this location. I went in to get a skateboard and he helped me find the right one. I wasn't sure what size to get as I haven't skated since middle school and he helped me find one that I felt comfortable with. He even went above and beyond and searched the website to make sure I was getting the correct bearings I wanted (Abec 7). He looked up the specs for about 5-7 boards. Came in to look around and shop at this Zummies in Hillsdale Mall. I was the only customer there at the time. I moved my way to the back where they have the skateboard decks. I asked the lady who was at the register if she had a specific deck design. When she said no I kept looking around to see if I could find a replacement design since they had a big selection. When I asked about a specific one that I was interested in and wanted a closer look, I asked the lady to hold it for me in front while I keep shopping some more and I was also looking up different designs on my phone. After About 3 minutes I asked if I could use the fitting room to try a couple sweaters. After I made my dew is on which sweater I was interested in buying, I decided to go put the ones that I didn't like back on the rack, at the exact moment the same lady who helped me earlier with the skateboard deck yelled out to me "Hey sir, just to let you know this gentleman is purchasing your skateboard deck, ok I just wanted to let you know" I was embarrassed and it was an awkward moment for me because there were more customers there at the time including the customer who bought it from me. Why hold an item for a customer if you're going to just sell it to another? It was the last skateboard deck they had with that specific design. I was mad because I was interested in buying it thats why I asked her to hold it for me in the front cashier. I am very disappointed with how I was treated. I felt like as if my purchase didn't matter to them. I had always been a Zummies customer until now. Won't be going at any Zummies anymore. Rather spend my money somewhere where employees do care. I was in this Zumiez location last week with my brother as he was shopping for some pants. A guy with stretched ears called over to us from the register to let us know about a deal they had for their pants and we acknowledged him with a thumbs up since me and my brother were having a conversation. The guy with the stretched ears was then rude and said "how about instead you guys can just reply back and not ignore me". Overall, we were both very unsatisfied with this so called customer service as it was gross and uncalled for behavior, so we left. At other Zumiez locations in the bay area, I've never been treated this way, he definitely needs to be retrained on how to communicate with customers, or if he really isn't satisfied with his customer service job then he should quit. Don't work customer service jobs if you don't know how to handle customers. Please fix this. read more

I always get greeted when I walk into this store, makes me feel really welcome and I know that I will get helped right away. Last time I paid a visit here I wanted a really cute p-coat but they didnt have my size and it was the last one, so one of the guys there gave me a very generous discount and I bought it anyways :) The store itself was alright, a bit dusty but clothes well organized. I was guided to the back try something on in the fitting room and it smelled as if someone had just smoked marijuana. I dont have anything against it, but if their district manager came in he/she would not be very happy. Its very clear that this is an all male-run store, so its hard to get an oppinon from a girl when there arnt any available. Overall, the employees were very nice (and very attractive), product is a bit costly but worth it. read more

Came in here Saturday to have a look at their longboards ... i'm 34 and only just getting into the sport so was expecting a little skate-shop attitude, but the staff here could not have been more welcoming, full of advice and happy to answer my endless questions. They let me try out a load of different set ups and I actually walked out with a complete Sector 9 G land set up shortly after .... great price which i can't see being beaten online - plus the tips on riding and maintenance for a beginner were invaluable. Sadly didn't get names of who i spoke to but both the guys i spoke to were awesome and in no way pressurized the sale. They have a great selection of skateboards from what i can tell and clothing too plus the prices seem decent. They also offered for me to bring in the board if i had any tune up questions in the coming weeks. Already addicted to riding my new board and can't wait to get back out there. Very pleased i didn't settle for the Sports Authority knockoffs! read more

I feel they have positively dealt with this, and understand ALL the undertones. They will continue to monitor this store. No one greeted me upon entry of the store, no one asked if I needed help, when I was next to be rung up, I said hello to the employee behind the counter and he completely ignored me. I waited a few minutes and he finally rung me up but the entire time he was talking to his other coworker across the entire store and they continued to talk back and forth throughout the entire transaction. Once he was done ringing me up I told him to have a nice day and he didn't even look at me. Last time i come here. The workers are usually rude here anyways, don't know why I bothered. read more

Went into the store looking for a tank top for summer wear. Associates were really friendly and polite. Gave space when we were just looking. Moment I was about to ask for help one of the associates stepped in and helped me find the right size shirt. Was very prompt on letting my friend use the dressing room. And the owner was Hella chill giving us a free bag to put not just the clothes we bought from zumiez but from another store. Customer service is on point, going above and beyond. Lost one star because the inventory wasn't as deep as I had hoped for tanks but would go again to this location no doubt. read more

This is a most horrible place. My 8 year old son wanted to buy skate shoes here. We could not find an employee as for "back to school" they all wore back packs and spoke to each other and ignored the customers. I asked a saleswoman to measure his feet. She responded that they "don't do that sort of thing..." It got worse from there. They were unkind to my son and we had planned to buy multiple pairs of shoes. My girlfriend and I came in for an exchange on the Toms I bought her for Valentine's Day! The two working were awesome with their customer service. They didn't have her size but she was able to order the right size and it'll be sent to our house this week. They were very helpful and chill. Made the process a lot easier and smooth. It was around the holidays, about a week from christmas and the mall was NUTS. My friend and i had spent almost 6 hours at the mall and no store had a specific shoe in the right size we needed. Zumiez was our last stop before we were going to give up and they helped us out right away. They didnt carry that shoe in our size, so the guy helping us brought us almost every shoe they had in a size 12, meaning he climbed the giant ladder and carried down loads of boxes multiple times. Finally he mentioned to his friend he was OFF THE CLOCK. Meaning he wasnt even getting paid to help us at the time!!! However, on my trip last night on may 17th the man working the store was probably the biggest douche ive ever had the misfortune to deal with. To be honest, I don't know what the majority of the employees here are getting paid for. I showed up on a Friday afternoon. In theory, it made sense to have four employees on the floor, as the place was relatively crowded with people making returns and taking advantage of the sales. As far as I could tell, though, only one of those four employees was actually working. The other three were more or less just hangin' out -- one of the employees was trying on shoes (I actually didn't realize he was an employee until I heard him asking someone if he could help them with anything), another was walking around with a clipboard under his arm, 'adjusting' clothes on their hangers (trying to look busy, no doubt) and intermittently carrying on a hushed conversation with the first employee. The third was hanging out at the top of a ladder but didn't seem to be repairing anything or even putting things away or taking them down. As the line of customers grew to four or five people, not one of these three guys (one of them was called Brian, I couldn't catch the other names) bothered to help out their coworker by opening up the other empty register. It took 20 minutes to buy two pairs of socks! Ridiculous. These guys don't deserve to keep their jobs. The two stars are for the female employee who is carrying their load. read more

Fun and engaging store, yes, but terrible customer service policies. I purchased $50 jeans for my son that bled blue on his hands and our furniture and I attempted to return these after I washed them attempting to remedy this problem. They washed horribly like low quality fabric and I returned them to the store and would have happily received a store credit. However, because they were washed they would not take the return. However, if I didn't wash them I would not know about the low quality of materials in the jeans. The manager Johnny claimed he didn't have authority to take these back or remedy the problem. He wasn't rude, and gave me his name and store number to contact customer service. Together with another employee the manager tried to tell me that jeans don't need to be washed regularly, that they should be broken in for a month (!) before washing. Surely they can't be serious, this store caters to middle and high schoolers. From now on, I won't spend any of my money here and will just give all my business to Dogfunk.com who has excellent service. read more

This is a review just for Mark. My two sons and I have been going to this store and buying stuff for some time and have been helped by Mark each time. I have to say that because of his outstanding customer service, I really enjoy going to Zumiez and feel like I never need to go elsewhere (like Vans). He is so well-versed and knowlegeable about the products and can direct us to the best product fit of what we are looking for. He really goes the extra mile for his customers and Zumiez. Kudos to Zumiez for hiring Mark, he adds such value to the store. I felt it was necessary to acknowledge and commend him, especially in such times when customer service is poor and lacking in the marketplace. Thanks Mark!
