I had a very old, hand-me-down board from 20 years ago, figured it was time to replace the deck and wheels so that one of the kids could use this board. Society was running low on 7.5" decks so I emailed Atlas. They were super-responsive and, even better, had a shop board (cheaper) with a shark on it (huge bonus points for this). We came by last Friday morning. They are enforcing a limit of four people in the store at a time, and they have hand sanitizer right by the entrance. On the left is an entire wall of decks; trucks and wheels are towards the back, shoes on the right, clothes to fill in the rest of the space. I spent some time admiring the deck designs. Seems like they are still well-stocked. I picked up the board and some wheels and they gave me grip tape. I took everything home and put the components together, my first time assembling a skateboard. The griptape-deck edge could have been a bit cleaner, but I was happy with the way it turned out. We ended up giving this board to my daughter's best friend (despite my kids growing to be very attached to the shark), and she's been practicing with it all week. Super-nice (and responsive) staff, clean shop, lots of selection - will definitely be back in the future. read more

This is a great little skate shop in San Mateo. Good selection of decks from Palace to Real to their own in-house ones. Great selection of clothing from Stussy to Metropolitan. I saw a few windbreaker/track jacket style pieces that I liked. They have some nice sneakers as well. I liked the shop a lot... We were just in the area buying cookies at Antoine's across the way when I saw the sign. I had heard of Atlas before but didnt know the we were in the area so I was pleased to finally come in for a visit. Customer service was great. We were greeted with a smile and the young gentleman that was working that Monday was cool. We will definitely be back again to shop at Atlas the next time I am back home in the Bay. read more

I live in San Jose, and I have been driving all over the Bay Area today trying to purchase the power puff dunks for my husband. His birthday is Saturday. ( the things we do for love. ) anyway, pretty much every place I've been to today has not had them available for purchase. And I noticed that the staff at these places have been visibly frustrated by the request of these shoes. It's currently 4:30pm and I've been on the hunt since 10 am. Even the first couple stores I went to right at opening were already annoyed by the request. Called atlas at 2:30 and a staff member informed me about the raffle they're holding online and in store. He was patient and kind. ( I'm not a sneaker head so I have no idea how these things work. ) Decided to come in to enter the raffle and made it around 4ish. Staff was just as great and friendly in person as over the phone. Win or lose I won't forget this experience. In the future my preference will definitely be to support atlas over the majority of the stores that I went to/called today. Thank you staff for being so dope! Social distancing was in place, only allowing 4 people to enter the shop. Hand sanitizer right at the door. Variety of boards was awesome. Super clean store. Prices were exceptional. I always order skate gear from this shop. They're always so prompt with their orders online. So when I ordered some gifts and didn't hear back, I knew something was wrong. I emailed them and told them that it was some gifts for this up coming weekend. They immediately called me and told me one of the shirts ended up being not in stock. I told them another color of that shirt would be fine. They rushed and got it out and now it looks like I will be receiving my order just in time to wrap them up for this weekend! As an avid sneaker collector, I've been supporting Atlas since I first found out about their shop in 2008 (pre social media). My boy Kris and I used to drive out from the east bay just to pick up a bunch of Nike Sb dunks, blazers, apparel you name it. Back then a lot of the other shops were pretty rude and stuck up but Ryan & Mike treated us like family. Back then, I was 325lbs. I told Mike I wanted to learn how to skate and do tricks. Instead of shrugging me off he encouraged me to do it and helped me build my first board. I even told a few buddies to get boards made there with me. Fast forward 9 years later. I'm actually over a hundred pounds lighter , I moved to SoCal and I still don't know how to do tricks. But I still love sneakers and I have a 4 year son who's become recently obsessed with skating. He was begging non stop for a skateboard and I told him he has to wait because I want his first real board to be from the same shop that I got mine built at. We had a road trip up the coast planned for July so we added a trip to Atlas to our itinerary. The day finally came for my little dude and he was so excited to finally see the shop and get his first real board made! Kinda bummed we weren't able to see Mike or Ryan but the guys that worked there treated us just like they would have. Since the beginning Atlas has always been about the love and passion of skating. And a place that unites people from all walks of life. So if you're wondering about stopping by, stop wondering and just do it. You'll be inspired. What can I not say about Atlas, other than hot damn, these guys don't disappoint as a skate shop. Their selection is on point, always stocked with the latest smaller boutique companies, always got a wide variety of board sizes, unique shape decks, boutique clothes and prices are actually really affordable and these dudes care about the community. Nice local skate shop that is easy to find off the freeway with plenty of street parking (meters) and a parking garage is not too far. The staff is pretty friendly, and helpful. Skate shop is small but with a nice simple design. Merchandise is displayed very well and utilized throughout the shop. Due to a limited run in sizes whether it is shoes or clothes make sure you don't sleep on any items you like. This is usually where I go to buy Nike SB's. It's hard for me to give 5 stars, a place has to be real perfection. I don't hand these out willy nilly. This place gets 5 stars for product, consistency, amazing customer service, layout - everything. As a 36 year old woman deciding to take up skating it's pretty daunting walking in to a skate shop. I don't want to seem like a poser or uncool, but let's face it I am. These guys have been so nice every time and treat me just like everyone else. I've now brought the kids in to buy boards and the whole family is skating. They're so attentive and helpful and they're not trying to sell me a load of BS or a board with all the bells and whistles just to make extra $$. Their shoes are also really reasonable and cheaper than Zappos and DSW (in case anyone is bargain hunting). The layout is minimalist and appealing and the place is always immaculate. Wow! This company really surprised us. We came into the shop looking to buy 20 complete skateboards for our missions trip to Peru. To our surprise, the owners starting asking a bunch of questions about what we were doing in Peru. We were ready to buy these boards full price. Atlas really stepped up to the plate to help us and we didn't even have to ask. They're clearly passionate about what they do and because of Atlas, 20 young and deserving kids get to do what they love most and that's skate. In Cajamarca Peru; most live without water and power and the basic amenities we take for granted. There's a huge skateboarding community in this city and most kids share skateboards because they can't afford their own. Not a big selection. Two people manning the front desk while I waited. The male employee was chatting with a customer. Female employee was listening and I thought they both had some need to be engaged with the customer. After 10 minutes, the female employee asks me if I need help when it was obvious I was standing right behind the first customer. Wouldn't have been a big deal if I weren't forced to wait 10 minutes. Tells me a lot about the service attitude there. Owner needs to train people better or hire better quality people. read more
