My husband and I love going into Zuzu's Petals. The ambiance is fabulous, and it's a nice little stop when you're out running errands to feel like you want to get out of the city a bit. I gave it 4 stars because the prices are a little inconsistent. I've bought several house plants (snake plants) here that were reasonably priced, but I always admired the orchids that were always quite expensive. The other small houseplants in the back room are reasonable, as are most of the outdoor plants in the back. I do LOVE looking around the garden in the back, but we never bought more than a couple of jasmine plants that were in full bloom. They always died come winter, even though we brought them inside. It's still a really nice shop, with very nice owners and people working there. There's a very large elderly golden retriever who is very sweet but just lays by the desk and hangs out. It's all very laid-back, and seems like a fun place to work. read more

I don't know much about flowers so i am always a bit wary when i have to order them. an old friend lost his mother and i couldn't be there in person for the funeral. i looked online for a florist in his neighborhood and was struck by one called zuzu's petals as it is from one of my favorite movies, it's a wonderful life. the woman that answered the phone was very helpful...pretty funny, actually...very brooklyn. i wasn't expecting to spend as much as their minimum , but after she described the flowers they would use and helped me write the condolence note, i felt confident i was getting my money's worth. my friend called to tell me the flowers were very special. read more

I received the most beautiful bouquet from Zuzu's at my baby shower. They were so tastefully arranged they not only lit up the baby shower but my apartment for days afterwards.... seriously! Just had a VERY poor phone customer service experience with this establishment. Woman answering the phone was rushed, impatient and not at al helpful. She was too quick to tell me where they don't deliver before I could even tell her where I was, and also to tell me about costs before I could even discuss what I was looking for. NOT COOL! I hung up and called Park Florist where I had an excellent phone experience and am going in to get my arrangement. Don't people realize how important the phone experience is? I guess I'm not fond of "crotchety bitchy clerks" (to quote another yelper) - especially when I'm shopping by phone! read more

I was in charge of flowers for a Park Slope bridal shower...which I was coordinating from Boston. Fonda was clear, easy to work with and most importantly - she delivered flawlessly. The biggest bluest hydrangeas I've ever seen, giant king protea, dripping amaranthus. It was exactly what I wanted: unique, sculptural, hardy in the July heat and STUNNING. In fact, we found out that one of the bride's aunts had used Fonda for her wedding flowers 20 years ago to the day. read more

Wilted flowers and a sour puss at the counter who snapped at me as I tried to select a few stems. I'm almost willing to forgive a less than stellar selection of cut flowers on a Friday in July but whoever that was (the owner? I have no idea) was so nasty that I actually put the flowers back and walked out and told her I'd go to the deli instead. Which I did! And found fresher hydrangeas! for half the price! I won't be back. She won't care. read more

Zuzu's did the arrangements for an event we held last year. We had specific non-floral centerpieces that we were also using on the tables and asked them to creatively match those centerpieces with flowers. It wasn't easy. Zuzus did nothing less than an outstanding job. Fonda was an absolute pleasure to work with and went out of her way to help us with the color of the tablecloths and overlay so that everything tied together perfectly. Everyone else in the store was very helpful and caring and made a very stressful event infinitely less stressful for us. They all seem to love their job and the customers they help. All in all, I highly recommend Zuzus'. Their arrangements are gorgeous and their customer service was outstanding. read more

Zuzu's petals and her caretaker Fonda and her loyal crew have been my florists, friends, and neighbors for the more than 25 years I have been a resident of Park Slope. They have been consistently generous with their time, advice, and friendship during the time I have worked and lived and raised my family in the 'hood. They have provided floral bouquets, arrangements for all sorts of special family occasions big and small, cut flowers just to take home, and only yesterday an exquisite and unique arrangement of flowers that my son ordered from his home in New Jersey. We now have a second generation of Fonda followers. He would order from no one else. In short, they never disappoint. Quite disappointed by the centerpiece delivered by this company. My cousin was very clear that he wanted a BIG centerpiece to celebrate his mother's 80th birthday with family and friends. What was delivered was merely adequate for someone's small bedside table NOT what he requested and expected to receive. $100 wasted. So he and his friend stopped a dollar store and picked up $1.00 glass vase nearly identical to the one Zuzu's Petals used for their "centerpiece." Then stopped at local bodega and picked up flowers...make TWO arrangements for less then Zuzu's Petals charged for their small one. Total price UNDER $20.. love the name of the store but won't be buying anything from them since they mislead my cousin and provided less then adequate small arrangement. read more

Fonda and all the Zus are the best of people. The stock in the store is hand picked with great care to provide the perfect gifts for friends and family. It is a unique place where I always find just the thing. The flowers are equally beautiful and special. I have shopped with Fonda for 30 years and she has never failed me no matter the occasion. They focus on money right off the bat.. Almost offensive.. it's like telling their customer make sure you can afford us. Right away, questions like " how much you wanna spend?, Delivery or pick up, delivery is extra etc." All those questions can be touched later on and in a less blunt way. Instead of asking question like what is the occasion. Anyway, I Spent 10 minutes on Saturday telling them what flowers I needed. I selected 4 type of flowers from the very limited selection they had to be picked up 3 days later. They didn't have sun flowers even though it was the season. She didn't tell me she can get them even though she could buy few from any deli store right in her block. I also chose the vase, she right away told me it cost $15 which also was very blunt to say. I left the store reassured by her that I will be very impressed. To my surprise when I came to pick up on Tuesday, 2 of the main flowers I selected weren't there, she seems to have used the same other flowers of Saturday because they didn't look fresh. I checked the vase and it was not the one I selected and paid more for, it was a much cheaper one. They changed the vase for me. The arrangement looked fine so i didn't bother telling them it was not what i ordered. I wasn't happy about the freshness of the flowers but i didn't have time and had to run so I let it go. i spent $70 for something that I could buy from any Deli for $20 except it was wrapped nicer .Bottom line i won't come back there. read more

I received an arrangement that was sent to me as a get well a few months ago and was beautiful, full and very fresh - lasted almost 2 weeks! I am always nervous to send flowers as you rarely get what you pay for but I would highly recommend Zuzu's. I had never purchased anything here before but it will now be my go-to florist! read more

How disappointing. I picked them out after reading your good reviews and seeing one that mentioned a delivery in Queens. I just called to place an order and when I asked if they delivered in Queens, the woman laughed. "We're in Brooklyn. Call a florist in Queens" then hung up. Ridgewood is a couple of stops away on the L line and not a big deal for a delivery OR she could have improved her response. She didn't even know the size of my order. (It would have been substantial given this is for my first grandchild.) Oh, well. Be willing to pick yours up, just in case. read more

I have shopped at Zuzu's since the store opened more than 25 years ago. I find the owner and staff knowledgeable and helpful. Their selection of summer plants is always of high quality and is interesting. They are creative when making up floral arrangements and are attentive to the purpose of the arrangement. Zuzu's have done two weddings for our family, and assisted on a third out-of-town wedding, and the results were truly special. The store carries an ever-changing and quality array of decorative gifts items, home furnishings, table linens, soaps, lotions, scarves,etc., all unique and of excellent qulaity There are years when we have done nearly all of our Christmas shopping at Zuzu's. Recently, we had to tear up our front yard to replace a main sewer line and lost all our plants. I asked Zuzu's to select new plantings for the front yard and lay out the design. The result looks terrific, and we have had nothing but compliments from the neighbors on our block To top it off, I am treated by all staff as a friend, and whether shopping or just browsing, the experience is always a treat. read more

I have been shopping at Zuzus Petals for over twenty years and have always been treated with grace, respect, and intelligence. Plus the guys and gals who work there are just plain FUN. And they know their merchandise. In addition to providing beautiful floral arrangements wrapped in an array of colorful tissue papers and contrasting colored ribbons, Zuzus sells lovely pottery in all price ranges, gift items such as bath soaps and lotions, and seasonal items such as gorgeous pillows, cozy throws for those cool fall and freezing winter nights, and tablecloths in a variety of sizes, prints, and solids. Why don't you walk back through the store into the serene and beautiful backyard garden, where you will find seasonal annuals, perennials, and a variety of shrubs. It's a little bit of paradise right here in Brooklyn! I think my fondest memories though, have to be all the times I have gone into the store to buy flowers for my daughter when she has performed in her high school drama productions. Whoever has waited on me has always asked what show she is involved in, what part she has earned, and how she is doing. That kind of care in NYC? Yes, because in spite of being in the "big city," Zuzus Petals is like a small, personal, one-of-a-kind shop. read more
